Can you please tell more about the lens you are using ?
Thx !
Really nice photos! i started to follow you.
Could i ask you to explain the workflow for one of those pictures? I do use Snapseed too but I'm a noob. I'm interested in the "blue" plant, how did you created a pastel background and focus foreground?

Hi sure bro, it's the Apexel 24x macro lens. It has 2 12x lenses that stack up to make the 24x. I just use the one 12x as it produces the most natural looking bokeh.

Sure no probs. I start off by adding the preset faded glow. Then I open the levels tool, adjust the images exposure and so on. Then I color correct. I usually put about 14 to the blue side. And then tint is +15 to the magenta side. Then I use the spot tool to adjust specific features in the image. Very helpful tool. Then I go to the structure and sharpening tool and bring the structure down a tiny just enough to make the bokeh a little smoother but not to much to take away detail. Then I put the sharpness up to about 40. The vintage preset number 6 is the one that gives you that enhanced yellows and blues you are talking about. But I would suggest adjusting it a bit so it doesn't over saturate and noise up the picture. Then I go to the spot tool again and fix any objects darkened by the vignette that the vintage presets apply. And I'm done. Just export. Hope this helped. Sorry if it was a bit confusing. I'm not to good at explaining things ?but I try

And the reason I do the color correction like I did was to enhance the blues and oranges to help out the number 6 preset. So it really makes the colors pop.

Hi, your photos usually look nice, even if I'm not the biggest fan of the non-natural colors. However, I've notice that usually the focus on your pictures is "bad": there is no area where the focus is made properly, on some pictures the whole picture looks blury. Doesn't it bother you? Is it part of your art?
Pic1: it looks like you tried to focus on the two grapes on the left, but they're not really in focus, if you zoom just a little it's blurry.
Pic2: it's all blurry again. The ant is half very blurried half blurried. Same for the flower, the white petals are not as blurry as the rest but they still are.
Pic3: it's better, the middle of the flower seems in focus
Pic4: much better as well, espcially the fly renders so well.
I've made myself the same observations on the previous pictures you sent in the gcam thread. I don't mean to offense you but I'd like to read your point of view. Cheers.

Well bare in mind that xda compresses the image to like 100kb. So lots of loss in picture quality. As does Instagram. But to be honest sharpness isnt always the most important thing. It's composition, lighting and also just how the picture generally makes you feel. An image for me is telling a story. You don't need every detail to tell a great story. You need someone to feel it. It has to envoke an emotion And for me that's what inspires me in my art form. I'm sure it's just different for you. And you value different aspects of a photo.
But thank you for your feedback back. I appreciate it.

You're welcome, I hope it wasn't too harsh. But yeah, it just disturbs me when there is no focus point and then I can't think of anything else and hence, appreciate anything else.

Hi it's not just one setting for all kind of thing. It's knowing what the settings do so you can adjust your setting accordingly. But if you need some help. Let me know what you are stuck with and maybe I can help. Or tell you the cause of the issue.
When I said share settings and tricks I meant all of us as a whole so we can bounce ideas and settings between us.

Yeah the compression kinda destroys the sharpness alot. I'd love to see some of your pictures and maybe hear some tips you've picked up along the way if you are willing to share?

@tomatot
I had a look at the difference of these compressed ones and the compression of Instagram is better. They don't quite look like original but they are alot sharper than these. So if you wanna see them a little better quality. Feel free to check them out.

Hello my friends,
I just wanted to ask if there is an cam app which supports bracketing or something similar. I already used HDR Cam+ etc. but the quality of the "inhouse" merging of the images is painfully bad. Also, HDR Cam+ now only seems to use one lighting so there is no difference between pictures.
On my Nokia N95 I used a python script which did 3 to 5 pictures with different lighting. Can someone please help me out?
Thx in Advance!
Use Pro HDR Camera. It takes 3 images with different exposures and then merges them automatically.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA
Hmm, not that I know of in the Market. But Pro HDR does a better job merging brackets together in my opinion, even if it takes the pictures slower.
It also saves the brackets too if you want to do your own editing instead of letting the app merge for you.

Thank you for your quick answers! Will give it a try
I am considering buying a Mini and I would like to ask, if there was a camera update thats targeting the actual photo quality? I red that there was some functions update, but did this improved the photos? All sample photos I saw on reviews were not much good, so I am interested in this.
Thanks
When I first received my maxx the photo quality was hit or miss. After the initial camera update the quality is very consistent. Just be sure that your lighting is good and your hand is steady. I think that many people expect these tiny cameras to be able to take excellent pictures under any circumstance. This is never going to happen.

Thanks, the camera update is that from Play store or it is a new android build? If so, can this be now taken and not kitkat?
It was the first or second ROM update that came through. The app seems to have added features like the ability to select a point of focus or exposure. That has proven to be a useful feature too.

Here are a few I took today in HDR and not HDR. I think the colors are rich and you can see a lot of contrast.
Hmm there must be compression on this forum. They appear much sharper on my computer.
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Interesting would be to try to photo the same scene before and after camera update...
as shipped my moto maxx took horrible pictures. I wasn't on the 4.2.2 camera update long enough to get a good sample, but the pics are much better after the kitkat upgrade (which may have been improvements from camera update)
X users are getting even better low light performance after this last update they got so I would expect the ultra line will also see an improvement soon.

Hi i was looking for a camera with a tap to shoot mode, like the motorola one, but i can't find one =/ i tried to install every port but without success. (btw i know we can tap to shoot but it focuses on the zone you touch)
Try cameramx, just turn it on i the settings. Overall good app which invludes the live photo feature from IOS. Only thing is no 8x zoom but it does have what your looking for and its free

Thank you! that's actually a nice camera app! And with g4 tweaksbox i can actually use it with volume- in the lock screen
Edit: dam, actually the focus is a lot slower with a moving object
Got same question. Is there any real alternative ? I know there is a lot of camera apps on Play, but only stock support 4K and @120 video. Is there any port of camera from G4 or something else which work properly ? I feel slo mo would be just much better with a bit better bitrate.
Anyone else try taking panoramic pictures yet? Im using the integrated panoramic function, but when it renders the different shots into one, they come out noticeably staggered. I haven't really taken a lot of panoramic photos on my other devices and they would usually require a separate app anyway, so I'm not sure if this is a common issue all across the board or just with the pixel. Can anyone else confirm if they are experiencing the same thing?
I think it is working for me. Trying panning a different direction and try different ways of maintaining the angle as you sweep

Yeah I havent used it a lot on this phone yet. But I did try to recreate the same pic several times and it was choppy every time. Although, it may have been in a less than perfect lighting situation
I've taken about 6 panoramic photos. 2 were ok the other 4 were terrible - really obvious joins.
Lowlight vs preset. (Updated)
*•*photo 1. standard auto hdr.
*•*photo 2. iso :2000 shutter at 0.4 with manual wb at 4200+/-
*•*photo 3. iso : 400 shutter at 5 and wb at 4060k.
*•*photo 4. iso : 1600 shutter at 8 and wb at 4060k (extreme low light conditions)
Tripod used : Tripod was used for shot 3 and 4, I used a $5 one with a $1 phone mount. Something an everyday consumer would be able to get.
*Update*
(salt attack prevention)
added shot for gcam too.
Gcambuild: GoogleCamera_6.1.013.216795316-debug2.apk
Onepluscam: 2.10.5
OOS : 9.0.1
Rooted.
*Update 2*
Added* Extreme low light conditions test shots.
Comments:
obviously leaving the shutter open draws in more light but it also captures more yellow. so i just manually tune that and save it as a preset. because night photos usually need to be cooled. I tried to use as low iso as possible in the settings to try reduce any unnecessary noise caused by high iso.
photo 2's settings are nice if you dont have tripod. as you can see the noise is significantly decreased and has way better sharpness. but still kept relatively the same exposure.
then for settings of the 3rd photo are my favorite. you need a tripod. but i mean it cames out amazing. even beats low light mode.
The 4th photo and settings are for extreme low light conditions and you'll need a tripod too.
