Notifications keep dropping down all the time! - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Guides, News, & Discussion

For some reason every navigation drops the notifications down from the top! Every time I navigate backwards - notifications; every time I go home - notifications!!!!
Arghhhh!
What am I missing? I've been through the settings backwards and forwards can't find anything... Please help, it is driving me insane.

Anyone any ideas? It is really frustrating, to the point of making the phone useless.

You mean, when you touch any of the navigation buttons, the notifications slide down?

Basically yes. Every time I go back to Home the notifications drop down, every time I unlock the notifications drop. I can't remember the other multiple occasions because I have stopped using the phone it is soooo annoying.

[Q] Disable SMS wakeup / notification pop-up on WP7

Hi Everyone,
I have searched Google and must say I can't find any solution for changing SMS WakeUp / Notification pop-up.
It is so annoying when the screen lights up.
I would also like to be able to disable that it shows the message in the top statusbar.
I have unlocked my phone by finding the "ChevronWP7" unlocker tool and send (by e-mail) the "ChevronCert" to my WP7 HTC Trophy and installed the certificate. Downloaded "Tom XAP Installer v1.2.zip" and installed "RegistryEditor 1.1.0.0.xap" where I have tried several registry fixes found on different websites: "modify-sms-notifications-in-windows-phone-7" but nothing worked also found a solution here and the same again nothing i working:
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1
Could someone help out I would really appreciate....
Thanks.
Bump please
Bump...Lookin for the same thing
Sorry guys, but why would you want this? I hate it on my Android. I have to push the power button every single time, which in turn, kills my hardware buttons.
At least you guys go to your lockscreen with a notification at the top, I had to download an app to wake the screen and it bypasses the lockscreen and I text/call people every single day lol. I wish it would just GO TO THE LOCKSCREEN!!!
Privacy, of course!
Bump.
@Dj21o: With respoect, I can think of at least one good reason why this setting should be "settable" and that is privacy. I may be in an environment where I don't want just anyone to be able to see an SMS as it arrives just by looking at my screen.
The fact that you would prefer it this way is, of course, good, too, but I think ther choice should be in the hands of the user.
Don't youy agree?

Yeah, it should be available for those that want it, and for those who don't... It is a simple setting that make it a big deal for users, and I can totally see where you are coming from. Sometimes my phone unlocks, and that is swiping left to right. I imagine it happens much more swiping up lol.
There is a site where you can put down ideas for developers to look at, and people vote for them. I can post the link of the site if you want.

I just want to know exactly why you want this? Yes it can be abit bright at the first glimpse but isn't there a bigger risk for falling asleep if you just press a button, instead of actually opening your eyes?
Nothing against what you like/dislike, I'm just asking, why.

I want it too because I have Whatsapp group where people keep messaging all the time. And the screen remains on all the time. which simple means that my battery drain faster because screen is always on.

I have the same problem
Any news about this???
So, disable Toast notifications in WhatsApp? That's a (required) per-app setting, no need to request an OS feature for it!
Why you don't flip you phone down? If proximity sensor detect something close to phone display it will don't turn display on when toast notification pop-up.

[Q] Question Facebook locking out and unable to click notifications

Hi all,
Whilst looking at facebook and about to check on notifications i've noticed that it's really hard to press notifications, I always seem to hit messages or search.
I'm using the full browser version, not the mobile view one.
It's a weird thing to happen, it also happened on my desire hd running Honeysense so i'm not sure what the fault is.
Oh and sometimes when i'm trying to click on notifications and i'm hitting messages and search and sending the browser into different directions, the screen locks to the left and i can't swipe right at all, just up and down.
A pain in the bum, hard to replicate the screen locking thingie but it's happened a few times tho, the notifications issue happens all the time.

Stop screen waking up on notification?

Am I going crazy, or is there no way to stop notifications from waking the screen? Everytime I get any sort of notification, my screen wakes up to display the notification on the lock screen, and then goes back to sleep a second later. I would like to turn this off and it drains battery.

I've noticed this happens to me when I receive an SMS, but nothing else. I don't think this is the default behaviour. Do you have an app installed that maybe does this? LightFlow?
Well I did install Snaplock for a hot second but I've since uninstalled it. Maybe it changed some setting somewhere that I can't find?
Any help for this? It's driving me crazy.

I have tried to find a solution for this, but I haven't been able to. I am guessing it is just unconfigurable behaviour of the Samsung messaging app.
Yep. I installed 8sms and Textra. Both allow you to disable the screen wake. Decided on 8sms for the long haul.
Help
Ok, so I am also irritated by the same issue with the screen waking up every time I get a text. My phone is usually in my pocket, and by trying to take it out to see the text, my camera or dial screen is opened cause I touched it while the screen was on. I have tried downloading Textra, Handcent, and 8sms to use instead, but in every one of those, when I try to send a photo, it fails, and I have dug through all the settings in those apps as well. I can send them on the stock messaging app just fine.
Has anyone found out how to turn the screen wake up off yet, or what am I missing on the other apps that is preventing pictures to send?
The other thing that is bothering me is that in the stock messaging app, it is displaying a call back # on every text I receive. Is there a way to turn this off?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
-Nick
I'm also trying to find the solution to this. G920I with Vodafone Australia.
Did anyone find a resolution to this issue? My phone turns on with every notification, not just sms.
I don't have my phone on me, but check settings > lockscreen and security > Show information or
settings > lockscreen and security > other security settings > notification access
I disabled all lock screen notifications and the screen still turns on randomly. I thought it may have been facebook so I disabled notifications then uninstalled the app with no luck. This problem is very annoying to say the least, when I go for a run I take my phone to stream music etc and can end up taking a few hundred pics of my pocket; lol.
Yeah I've this problem too, samsung didn't include the option to disable it :\
Are you saying there is no way to stop the screen from coming on?
Doesn't look like you can disable it, sadly. Nothing stock in touchwiz that gives that functionality. Or am I wrong? I just searched the entire settings on my phone..

another annoyed user, looking for a solution
The inability to prevent the wake-up is annoying not only because of the instant battery usage, but because when the phone is in pocket it then causes all kinds of mispresses which lead to unintended app openings, changes, and screen staying on much longer. Samsung needs to provide option to disable screen wake on notification.
Samsung we have f#%$*ng RGB LED for notification!
Try the Screen Notifications free app
Try the Screen Notifications free app. I did and meantime it's OK. Looks it may work for the desperate people like we are....

I remember asking about this in a thread a long time. Ago. Good news, (if the other suggested fixes aren't working), I know how to fix this. First, you have to be rooted (naturally). 2nd, install another text app, I just use google's Messenger text app, nice and basic and I like it. Open that app and let it set itself as default or do it manually in settings. That step might not be necessary, but should do it just in case or possibly be left with no text app by accident. Finally, go to system > priv-app > SecMms_Delight-Open > Copy the app which is our stock messaging app and it has the screen wake function built in and paste it somewhere else like a backup folder in the priv-app directory so you know where it goes back to. Delete the app inside the SecMms-Delight-Open directory and reboot. You'll notice the yellow stock messaging app is gone from desktop and app drawer and now when you get a text, no screen wake! :good:
This annoyed me quite a bit because for a living I deliver catering orders and each time I get an order, it sends a text to let me know to check the browser for order info. So I was getting like 12 to 20 texts a day in addition to all the normal texts from friends and family. It was waking a lot!
I wish the build my edge came on was rootable. Sad face for sure. No root, no downgrade, no happy.

Question Quick Launch Gesture

Hey all. I've been trying to use the new Quick Launch gesture (in advanced settings within the Wear app on my phone). I'd really like to use the gesture to quickly activate the flashlight when needed. Unfortunately the triggering Quick Launch with the "knock knock" gesture is hit or miss (mostly miss). Are any of you able to use this successfully and reliably? And, if so, do you have any suggestions or tips on how to consistently execute it? Thanks.
It says that you have to do it within 5 seconds of waking up the screen, maybe it's because of that? I can get it to work almost everytime

I swear I had been keeping that in mind every time and it just wasn't working consistently for me. Just turned it back on and tried again and now it seems to be working every time without fail. Thanks
It will only work right after you're screen turns on (within 5 seconds). It's useful if you need to launch something quick hands free. Best to use directly after your screen turns on from a lift to wake gesture.
It works from time to time for me. I have noticed it does not want to work especially when the battery is below 40%. I need to restart the watch and it starts working again. I also tried turning it off and then on again to see if this helps, but it did not.

ANDROID 12 BUGS & ISSUES

Starting a thread to track Android 12 Bugs and issues similar to https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/android-11-bug-problems-original-firmware-xperia-5-ii.4225029/
In first few hours of use I found out that sometimes status bar vanishes and you need to scroll down settings panel to get the status bar again.
Observed this couple of times but not able to repro it consistently.
Anyone facing this? Any other issues to report?
Couple of another issues:
1) Dynamic vibration seems to be kicking off on first level and phone vibrates vigorously.
2) Multi window is having few issue like sometime one of the window is blank and when you try to see recently used apps the screenshot of the app shows zoomed in content.
IV updated not long ago I'm using nova launcher not noticed any bugs as yet just a boat load of blue everywhere lol
Dynamic vibration is working Continuously when I play YouTube video or something. That's the only bug I found. Even I tried to low ,mid or high it's not controlling properly. They need to fix this.
Small update. Dynamic vibration continuously work if I use my xm4 ear buds.
Connecting to headphones via tapping on the NFC doesn't work (wh-1000xm3)
I get a vibration, headphones turn on but I have to manually go to bluetooth tab and connect from there
disconnecting works fine

i think they have not included the new theme-color-walls-feature like on Pixels for example, or other Brand. It's a very specific choice, i think, after all Xperia use Android Stock if i'm correct.
I'm no Android expert so my Xperia 5 II is stock. I do use the Nova Launcher. I'm in Mexico and got the update two days ago. I'm mostly deaf and don't use the phone and didn't notice until 3:30 this morning that I had no internet connection and when I checked in "Settings" I saw my provider, Telcel, and a not "Temporarily Inavailable". Since it was Sunday morning I thought maybe they took service down doing some sort of maintenance. At eight I took another look. I tried *133# to see my account status and got a message, "Temporarily Unavailable." Then I tried sending a text message to a friend and it went through.
I went to "Settings", deleted Telcel as my service provider, cancelled the instruction to automatically connect and shut down. Then I started the phone, reconnected to Telcel, reinitiated the order to connect automatically and all went well and it worked fine.
Other than that, I have had no glitches. I don't use vibrations or split screens. I did give the cameras a pretty good run and they worked fine.
Screenshot is no longer accessed from long press power button, but is now accessed through the square navigation button. Meaning i can no longer screenshot my apps list.
Ambient display, when phone is locked and idle, is dimmer than when in Andriod 11. Brightness cant be adjusted.
Turning wifi on/off requires more touches. You now have to press 'Internet' from the top pull-down menu and toggle the wifi on/off from a popup menu at the bottom of screen. I hope your fingers can reach if using one-handed.
Switching phone calls and notifications to Normal/Silent/Vibrate from pressing the Volume buttons on the side opens up a list of switches, rather than pressing same icon and cycling through modes.
The shortcuts in the top pull-down menu are larger. In Android 11 i had setup 6 most used shortcuts across the top, now in 12, 6 shortcuts take up half the screen.
Tapping the square navigation button twice to switch between open apps must be done slower. No more fast switching.
Swiping the top pull-down menu once covers the whole screen, whatever you were looking at is covered by the drop down.
You can probably tell i dont like A12, but i know, im probably whinging over nothing.

I found that screenshot is done by holding the power button and volume down at the same time, which is the most clumsy and unnecessary thing to add. If there's a way to get this back by only long pressing the power button, I'd love to know.
I'm not a fan of this as well, mainly because they managed to break things that didn't need fixing, like turning on and off wifi. It is however better in that when I turn off wifi, it is automatically on my mobile network. Before this update, it would not automatically connect to the mobile network and I would have to toggle plane mode on and off several times or restart to get the mobile network connected. So that's working better at least.
Another issue I'm having is that when I delete an email from Gmail, it will sit in the notification bar showing deleted until I clear it, when before it would clear on its own after a few seconds. Also, the huge buttons look awful.
I don't want to go back to Android 11, but I would like the long press screenshot back, the buttons in the pulldown to look like they did before and accessing wifi simplified....I'm sure I'll find more things I hate with each passing day.
I don't know. I've never done a screenshot and my notifications for email go away when I delete the email whether I delete it on my phone or on my Chromebook. My old arthritic hands are cursed with stubby fingers and I rather like the large buttons.
Why do people turn WiFi off and on. My is just on. As I visit coffee shops, restaurants, and public places my phone automatically connects to other WiFi. I don't do anything requiring secuity while visiting other locations.
As usual, for me, Android 12 will be an irritating mess for a week or so and then it will miraculously improve.

I got in the habit of turning wifi on and off because on android 11, whenever I would get out of wifi range, it wouldn't automatically connect to mobile and so I would have no signal at all. I think it's a habit for me at this point, but it still shouldn't require 3-4 steps to turn on or off.
The longpress screenshot was really handy. Having to use a combination of buttons doesn't make much sense from a user standpoint...namely, mine
The big buttons, I've gotten used to and I do like that you can expand the size of the screenshot window to capture more of the image.
The biggest issue for me is the deleted messages not clearing. It will sit there all day showing deleted if I let it.

I never had that problem switching to my cell service when out of WiFi range. I think my 5II came with Android 11 and my Wifi and cell service are two different divisions of the same company. I don't know if that would matter.
I'll keep an eye on notifications but so far they're disappearing when the source is deleted..
Thanks for your responses.
The screenshot press vol down / power button doesn't work for me.
About the Gmail issue, i havent had that issue yet. I do use gmail, but its not my primary.
Im in the habit of turning wifi on/off when i use it. It defaults back to mobile network without issue, thats always on so I dont share that experience.
Ive just found another issue. Long press on the home screen and selecting 'Wallpaper'. When i select a wallpaper and set as home screen only, it applies to both home and lock screen.

Yeah! a lot of options are missing there like Service tests and other Network related configs.
I've no issues with the update besides Android 12 user experience being garbage in some areas where it was perfectly fine in Android 11. This is mostly with the quick settings where I now need one more tap for almost everything I'm using.
As72 HK version .. in the Philippines... Incoming and outgoing calls not working after the upgrade. Phone restarts didn't help
Worked for a few days after doing a factory reset... But stopped working again...
Sms and LTE+ is working, no issues..
I found a workaround for dynamic vibration issue in 5II after Android 12 update (issue being dynamic vibration accidentally kicks in while playing video on YouTube or Facebook)
Go to settings>Sound > Disable Dynamic vibration.
Play a video in YouTube or Facebook.
Get back to settings > Sound > Enable Dynamic vibration.
Now, dynamic vibration won't kick in accidentally.
