Google Pay Issues - Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Questions & Answers

Hi Guys.
I am having issues with trying to get Google Pay working on the Mi Mix 3. I have the latest stable China MIUI 10.0.11.0 installed.
Everything is set up fine since this device already has the Google Services Framework pre-installed and I have it all working Play Store, Assistant, Contacts sync, Calendar sync etc.
The device is bootloader locked and fully passes all Safety Net testing but even still, when I try to add my card to Google Pay it goes through all the way to Verifying with your Bank and then instead of getting the OTP message to successfully link the card, it comes up with 'Additional features couldnt be added please contact your bank'.
I rang my bank and they said it's all fine from their end. I know previously people have had issues with getting Google Pay to work on the China ROM but I thought this time since the Framework and Play Services were pre-installed and that it fully passes SafetyNet that it would work. It's a shame as everything else is working perfectly.
Has anyone else managed to get their cards successfully added and working?
Thanks.

For me Google Pay works with root and Magisk.

No play store certification, check at the bottom of the play store settings. Xiaomi.eu roms fix this.

No it is certified on the Play Store, I just checked and it says 'Device is Certified'. This is why it's even more strange.

Anyone managed to get it to work with their card?

Yes. See my post above. There's no way around Magisk at this time, because it has to hide that the device isn't PlayStore certified.

Hi. Thanks for your advice but I know it will work if I root and use Magisk hide, but it should be working without it being rooted. As I said it's showing as certified in the Play Store and it already fully passes SafetyNet without having to root or flash the Xiaomi.eu ROM.

Also just tried it with a Revolut MasterCard and managed to successfully add it to Google Pay, so perhaps it is something to do with my bank.

Is there any news regarding MIX 3 to use Google Pay , As my one on the any coming, GPay is soooo important for but I dont have MasterCard, Or is there any new solution ?? Thks a lot !!

Fixed mobile paying (not-google pay, can't test that myself) by going to "More" in settings under "Wireless and networks" and then changing "Default Wallet" to "HCE wallet".
So Host Card Emulation (HCE) isn't enabled when you have the default option selected so it just does *nothing* when you try and pay. After changing this my banking app its mobile payments are working perfectly.
Maybe this will also fix Google pay but this works for those people who have a mobile paying app setup but the phone just does nothing when you try to pay.

Unfortunately I switched to a GSI ROM before making this change to HCE Wallet, which is likely what's causing the issues with Google Pay at the moment. Placing the phone over the terminal doesn't activate anything, which is the exact symptom you've described.
I wonder if there's a root level config that we could exploit and change? That's a potential solution for those who moved into GSI ROMs without making the necessary setting.

Give Google pay all permissions it will activate the OTP then

I've just met the same problem as yours. After hours of working, nothing helps.
I updated magisk to 18.2 and it can pass safetynet check, tried 3 different banks' credit cards and switched to HCE wallet, gave GPay all permisions, but none of these worked.
But since other people succeed with mix3, this should not be the hardware problem.
I don't know what else I can do to fix this GPay, if anyone of you have idea please tell me I 'll give u my highest appreciate

Hi-
I had the exact same problem just start yesterday.
So here's what I did:
1. download the Magisk 1.8 found here in this forum: title is "Magisk 18.1 for Mi Mix 3 available"
2. Follow these instructions on how to install it (google "how to install magisk XDA")
(essentially install the zip through TWRP and then the Magisk Manager)
3. Then after everything is installed, go into the manager and under the menu on left choose Magisk Hide and choose Google Pay
4. Then you have to go to your Apps manager, clear data and cache of Google Pay and Google Play Services
5. I rebooted just for good measure
6. then I had to re-add all my cards and this time it let me (before it was saying I can't re-add my card because my phone was rooted, etc)
My guess is that you have to do the data and cache wipe of step 4.
good luck.

Thanks for your help but your problem may not same as mine.:crying:
Earlier the GPay said can't work because of rooted devices, this can be solved by downgrade the Google play services and upgrade manully to a work one, the lateset G services can detect magisk. Or just upgrade the magisk to 18.2 may also help.
But my problem is not Gpay told me rooted devices or something like that. I can go on the bank statement page and then, after that, the Gpay said it cannot work and I should contact to my bank. All of my 3 different banks cards said so. I just searched on XDA and google, this is not the banks problem, some people with the same peoblem as I do said GPay denied the contactless pay suddenly and then worked few days after.
And I contacted Citi Bank for help, they just said everything's right with my card.
I think this may be the MIUI's problem. I'm having the Chinese rom.
Anyway, thank you for your kindness.

oh man, ok. Sorry that that didn't help.

I was having all sorts of (same as many above) issues - even with EU Rom.
This fixed it, believe it or not:
"If you have Google Pay issue at Android 9.0 devices:
In the TWRP delete folder /data/data/com.google.android.gms
EN: If you have Google Pay issue, clean data of Google Pay and Google Play Services app"
- source
Finally paying everywhere with my Mi Mix 3.
Good luck

Does GPay ist working for you in the latest weekly eu rom? I cannot get it working since the last 2 or 3 versions.

[SOLVED] How to enable Google Now on Android 5.0 Lollipop Nexus 5

***PLEASE CHECK OUT UPDATE METHOD AT THE END!***
For those of you who cannot get Google now to work because you live in “Other countries", here's a fix that works for the Nexus 5 running the official Android 5.0 Lollipop released yesterday (Thursday 13th).
Here are the possible problems you ran into:
1. In Google Search's setting, you are unable to "flick on" Google Now with text "Google Now requires location services which are not available."
2. You signed out of the Google account, cleared Google Search app, uninstalled updates from Google Play Services, and signed in again. But after you click "Yes, I'm in" in you get a simple message saying "This account is not eligible for Google Now"
Be sure that your device's language is in English (United States)
Fix:
1. Download and install Market Unlocker (I am apparently a new member and not allowed to post links)
2. If your country blocks Google Play (eg. China), download SpeedVPN
3. If you are logged into Google: Settings-->Accounts-->Google-->*Click on your email*-->Three button on top right-->Remove Account
4. Go into Settings-->Apps -->Clear data for both Google Play Services and Google Search
5. Now open Market Unlocker --> Enable Unlocker (Default should be Verizon United States, if not, swipe right and choose that)
6. Turn of the phone.
7. Important: remove SIM card
8. Turn on the phone, connect to wifi, and open SpeedVPN -->Choose "United States"
9. Long press on homescreen -->Settings--> turn on Google Now
10. Log in and you should get your Google Now working.
11. Put back your SIM card
Hope it helps guys. Let me know if you run into any problems during this process.
UPDATE!
HERE'S A NEW METHOD THAT WORKS FOR LOLLIPOP ON NEXUS 5 as of February 1st 2015
This method has also been tested on Nexus 4 running Lollipop 5.0 as well. Here are the steps
1. Make sure you are rooted and have a working VPN
2. Download and install "location report enabler"
3. Run it and grant root access
4. Restart phone, turn on airplane mode with Wi-Fi on
5. Set VPN to country like America or England
6. Clear data for Google Launcher, Play services, Play store
7. Settings--> Location--> Google ----> enable location
8. Sign out of Google account
9. Back to home screen, use Google search to "remind me to buy milk"
10. Go through sign in steps
11. Back to home screen and swipe left. Voila!
Again if you have any questions please comment!

Same for me, I just cannot get it to work. Tried several times, also uninstalled the updates of Google Play Services. And yes, I am rooted...
I also removed my Exchange account and disabled all device administrators
When it says account not eligible and goes back to google search just make it remind something (eg - remind me to sleep in 10 minutes) before doing anything else and it should automatically enable google now and take you to google now. Worked for me and hope this helps yall

Interestingly I didn't even get to try it out.
Google Now worked after following the steps mentioned by dollarside. However, it was probably the 5th I've tried.
Might be related to Market Unlocker that didn't seem to work at first. I used the guide from here (including proxy settings) and downloaded the latest version (3.5.1). After rebooting I made sure that the app actually said Market successfully changed (I had failed before after the reboot).
Another reason could be that I used Astrill VPN before (with different US servers). The last and successful attempt was with SpeedVPN.
In the end I cannot say what helped. Being persistent turned out to be successful. This time.
it's work for me in second try without rooting or using market unlocker.

Yay the new update (Google App 4.1.24.1672412.arm) works with the old trick I used.
The old trick if anyone needs it (Needs root) -
Install Titanium Backup. Install a File Manager and a Launcher. I used ES File Explorer and Nova Launcher.
Find and download com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-2.6.7.721924.arm version of Google Search and copy it to your phone. (Won't post the link because it's not allowed. You can find it in Androidfilehost)
Open Titanium Backup and tap on "Backup/restore". Scroll down to Google Search and tap on it. Do a backup by tapping "Backup!!" (Just in case) Then tap on "Un-Install!" (Make sure you have a different launcher installed before doing this!!")
Restart your phone.
Open the file manager, navigate to the folder where you copied the Google Search 2.6.7.721924 apk and install it. Open it and it will ask to Opt in to Google Now. Tap on "Yes I'm in".
Download and install the latest update from APKMirror Google App 4.1.24.1672412.arm.
And you are done! Feel free to remove the other launcher and file manager.

on top tab you will find option to browse for backup directory
Go to directory where you extracted zip

Huawei
Go inside huawei

Hi
Is mate 30 support this as wel
Hi,
You don't actually need to use the HiSuite and PC at all. Basically you can copy both folders to a usb stick, then connect USB stick to a phone and use restore backup from USB. All you have to restore from the backup is the com.lzplay.helper app. Then you can install all the apps from Google folder on the phone. Then go and give the Google apps all the permissions.
Now the tricky part. In order to make them system you have to give the lzplay app device administrator priviledges. You can go to flight mode, or even remove your SIM and delete all WiFi networks and then go to flight mode and then launch lzplay, give it device admin priviledges then restart the device. As soon as device restarts revoke device admin privs for lzplay and delete the app. Then enable data connection and you can use google apps now.
The only tricky part is that lzplay should be reverse engineered before to check if it is not dropping something else on your device when it is allowed device admin priviledges. Cutting off data just ensures that it will not download anything but if it drops something else then well I would be cautious with such device (well I am actually, just created a new google account for this device.).

Can I Flash Gapps over HydrogenOS to Replace the Chinese Incomplete GMS to Pure GMS?

HydrogenOS already have Google Play Services & Google Services Framework in it, but it's a modified version, you just need to install Play Store apk and you can install all app with play store, without unlock bootloader and root. If you root, use magisk hide, you can also download like Netflix with Play Store.
It can nearly fit all your needs, but there are many other problems, mainly about Google features and sometimes network error, because China bans access to Google. All the problems arise when used in China. Whether there are such problems in other countries remains to be confirmed.
The Play Store can't auto update itself
The Play Store open or update app with a forever loading
You can't allow Google Location History
You can't Use Google Map Timeline
Your device can't display on web Google Play
You can't use Google Feed
You can't use "OK Google"
Some apps that rely on Google services sometimes experience network connection errors
......
The HydrogenOS Google Play market will connect to the domain name services.googleapis.cn, which cannot be opened, controlled by the /system/etc/permissions/services.cn.google.xml file (root is required to access
There is a line in the file, <feature name="cn.google.services" />
Someone made Magisk module Unlock CN GMS to solve this problem, by deleting or replacing this file, but it is still not perfect, there will still be a problem of network connection error. Another Magisk module can also help, Location Report Enabler.
You may ask, why not use OxygenOS?
Because in China, HydrogenOS have some useful localization features
Call Recording
NFC bus card
Call attribution
Harassment call interception

So, Can i flash GApps package to turn the built-in incomplete Google service into a full version?
Will this affect my subsequent system upgrades? I will upgrade through the full OTA package every time.
Do I need to flash the Gapps package again after each system upgrade?
This way is, use H2OS, import some OOS feature, only needed is pure Gapps.
_______________
There is an opposite way.
Use OOS, import some H2OS feature, the most needed is call recording, see this thread.
But if you are Cyberpunk edition, HydrogenOS is the best.
_______________
I don't find any solutions now, the TWRP is not out, so we can't flash Gapps, totally we have 3 ways to try with h2os.
1. Replace the h2os GMS to oos GMS, very difficult, don't know to replace what, may cause crash.
2. When TWRP comes out, flash Gapps, like Open Gapps, FlameGapps, may cause crash.
3. Use Magisk Gapps, like Weeb Gapps, may cause crash. This thread talked about this.
We discussed this in many places, all advice that don't try the 3 ways, because may cause crash, for a normal user, crash means you may face boot loop or lose data, and have to factory reset.
Still waiting for an expert guy good at flash phones to give a clear way.
Dude. We don't have a TWRP yet. So you can't flash gapps zips. The simplest and the best way would be to download the EU/IN full rom zip, do a local upgrade, then format the data. Your phone will have full GMS and will get updates for the OOS variant you flashed (EU/IN).

Thanks, i know what you mean
But as mentioned in the question, I still need to use some of the characteristics of Hydrogen OS, so I can’t directly change to Oxygen OS.
If 8T TWRP comes out, is the solution I mentioned above feasible?

haha, of course u r right.
Same problem here from China. Could install play store, but cantbconnect to my google account. can't install google play services or google services framework, not sure if its because they're the wrong version apks or because hydrogen now comes with a hard blocking on those.
It really sucks because on my 5t I didn't have to, hydrogen allowed google services too provided you use a VPN.
Let me know if you find a solution ! I also would rather not try to flash another is and lost warranty..

I was successfully able to install services framework. play services already exists so need for that. although play store show that the device is certified yet i am unable to install netflix. this is the only issue so far
Guys, flash oxygen os zip that is higher than an older h2os base. Then install it again with local upgrade, then use the msm h2os tool, that puts it only on one slot. Then, install 11.4.5 ota zip, it reboots to opposite slot and that is the slot oos will be on. Should be oos with the Chinese apps but difference is google installed. I do the opposite to run my normal 8t cyberpunk as oos

r u sure? u say u run oos but have all chinese apps, such as the dialer is not google dialer and can use call recording...if so, i think u do the opposite way is better.
It is convenient for you to describe your operation steps in detail, like how to flash oos, what's your oos country version, etc. It is still not clear from the above reply. I think this will help many people, including the problem that OOS can’t use call recording. I am not very good at flashing the phone.
Do these operations do not need to unlock root, can OTA work normally afterwards, and the chinese apps still there, or can normally update these apps?
In addition, can the normal 8T also use all the features of the cyberpunk version?
thks!

What I have done is not for inexperienced users. I am in USA, bought the global 8t. I said the phone is converted so that's why I have oos dialer and apps. Chinese apps I have uninstalled. But I also have Google apps. You can also use Weeb Magisk Gapps or micro G. Both work.

ok, get it.
So, for me, base on h2os with pure Gapps is the only way, until now many guys say that don't flash Gapps directly on h2os, may cause crash, you provide a new magisk Gapps way, thks.
You use normal 8t with full cyberpunk features, right? It's a goods news for all.

The Chinese HydrogenOS is incomplete,
You can't allow Google Location History
You can't Use Google Map Timeline
Your device can't display on web Google Play
You can't use Google Feed
You can't use "OK Google"
Some apps that rely on Google services sometimes experience network connection errors
......
The HydrogenOS Google Play market will connect to the domain name services.googleapis.cn, which cannot be opened
Controlled by the /system/etc/permissions/services.cn.google.xml file (root is required to access
There is a line in the file, <feature name="cn.google.services" />
Someone made Magisk package Unlock CN GMS to solve this problem, by deleting or replacing this file, but it is still not perfect, there will still be a problem of network connection error
You may ask, why not use OxygenOS?
Because in China, HydrogenOS have some useful localization features
Call Recording
NFC bus card
Call attribution
Harassment call interception
......

In addition, google and it's associated apps are blocked in china. Facebook, instagram, YouTube, twitter are also blocked.
When and before I go to china, I make good and sure my VPN on my phone is updated.

As i know, HydrogenOS already have google play services & google services framework in it, you just need to install play store and you can install app with play store, it can fit your basic needs, but as my thread said, there are many other problems, because the Hydrogen GMS is not the same as OxygenOS.
After all I managed to update from the original hydrogen on my Chinese model directly to a european oxygen quite easily.
I downloaded the full rom EU version here: https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8t-oxygenos-11-0-4-5-update/amp/
Then moved the downloaded zip file at the root of the phone's internal storage. Entered the phone settings, system, system updates then hit the settings icon displayed in top corner to reach local update.
The downloaded rom shows up here as an update.
Quite easy procedure, no problem accessing play store and adding a Google account after that, provided you already have a VPN app to bypass the usual blocking in China.

Can you explain what the point of the 2nd part is? What is the msm h2oos tool?
I suppose it's about two partitions in the phone storage, but is that something already there by default?

I noticed a few Chinese apps have disappeared such as the default web browser or the one plus market app. I managed to reinstall market through an apk site, didn't get to use the nfc card app you're talking about though. But I think you can always use alipay or we chat for bus payments. Or maybe that nfc app can also be reinstalled from a Chinese app store?

Yes. I downloaded it from here http://m.2265.com/down/5615.html
By the way I do have the "card package" app installed since upgrading to oxygen, is that the same app you were using on hydrogen?

Question How to use Google Play wallet with rooted One Plus Nord 2T 5G ?

Hello everyone,
A few months ago, I used this awesome guide to get my device rooted. Now I would like to use Google Wallet but it detects root even after adding every google service to my denylist.
I found this guide : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/magisk-google-wallet-pay-with-magisk.4471279/ that tells me to change my device fingerprint but One Plus Nord 2T is not in the device list I was wondering if you think it's unsafe to use the fingerprint of One Plus Nord 2 device instead ? Will this break my device for some reason ?
Thanks for you help

Doesn't work. He needs the modded version by Displax which can be found on his GitHub Here
In magisk you need to go to magisk settings and enable zygisk and enforce deny list.
Then add play services, play store and wallet/gpay to deny list.
Then delete app data for play store, play services and wallet/gpay. Everything should work perfectly then

It doesn't? That's strange because this is the method I use personally and it works no problems
I managed to make it work. Here is what worked for me :
1. Install this release : https://github.com/Displax/safetynet-fix/releases/tag/v2.3.1-MOD_2.0 (be careful the link in the README.md is not correctly updated)
2. Add to deny list : Google Play Services, Google Wallet/Pay, Google Play Store
3. Remove data and cache for : Google Play Services, Google Wallet/Pay, Google Play Store
4. Reboot
5. (Again) Remove data and cache for : Google Play Services, Google Wallet/Pay, Google Play Store
Then when opening Google Wallet should work fine.
Thank you again for your help @garylawwd !!
