I might be hard bricked trying to upgrade to Orero - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

I have an FRD-L04 32GB model in Canada.
I used the firmware finder to get my Oreo packages, and used hrupdater to bring my phone onto Oreo. I was coming from a stock 7.0 B389 build. No problems. I was able to boot into Oreo. I had many problems including cameras not working, apps not loading, and no audio. So I decided to try and downgrade back to Nougat using the 3 files I also found on Firmware Finder. Smart me didn't initially realize the entire filesystem was changed (Recovery > Recovery Ramdisk etc) and now my phone is basically in all kinds of hell.
I can get to eRecovery, but after connecting to WiFi, it'll stall at Getting Package Info Failed, and stall me at that.
I'm currently using MultiTool and trying the unbrick method. I've extracted my System, Ramdisk, Cust, and Recovery_ramdisk images from the B560 update.zip files. I've managed to flash those all successfully, but now after getting past the boot screen and bootloader warning screen, I'm hanging at the splash screen before the OS loads.
I'm all bent out of shape right now. I figured that was the method to totally return my system to stock and rewrite everything. It appears I'm stuck on an 8.0 file structure, and there isn't a 7.0 Rollback package for the L04 variant, and on top of that, I can't even get a stock 8.0 firmware to boot anymore.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I just want the phone to work again, on any firmware.

Won't boot after Lollipop downgrade

i thought, i might just do a separate topic, as it gets overseen easily in other threads...
What i did:
had b140 working fine. Wanted to Update to b312 Lollipop, worked well. Then, i had some problems with Google Play Services and such. Wanted to downgrade.
First, flashed stock recovery, worked fine.
Next, Transfer Package b300: No Problem
After that, b137 as KK Rom: Updates to 90% then doesn't move.
What i already tried:
- b127, b137, b141, b312 all won't either start update or get stuck at 90%. All tried with and without previous Transfer Package.
- boot and recovery .img from Stock 4.4 and 5.1 to no avail.
- Unpacked b137 and flashed boot, system, just and recovery. No boot, no downgrade
- flashed twrp 4.4 and 5.1 both 2.6 and 2.7. One did work, throws message about not being able to mount /emmc.
- tried flashing the one custom rom EMUI based for L09, script runs perfectly, before reboot: "No Rom Installed". Won't boot
- tried CM11: Won't flash properly.
I'm pretty much out of options now. I'll take anything workable. KK or LP or what ever, as long as i'm able to recover that phone. Any ideas guys?
OMG, got it working. After two days of flashing anything i found, o went back as far as i could.
1. Bootloader, flashed boot and recovery from 5.1
2. Transition Package for LT09 fro here :Huawei Rollback LT09 (Had to boot 3 Button method with SD-Card not Inserted, then after huawei logo push sd-card in)
3. b120SP03 fro here: Huawei b120SP03 (again, three button method with sd-card not inserted, then after huawei Logo push sd-card in)
This was the first firmware that booted for me. Now i need to setup and see if i can get OTA...
I can't tell you how happy am
Excellent well done.
Hopefully this helps someone else too.

Device won't boot, tried rayglobe, tried fastboot flash, no firmware downloads availa

I have an NXT-L29 (432). I've really loved this phone besides the headaches of modding. I've been doing this for years, am well acquainted with fastboot and ADB. I promised I've searched and read as much as I can, I keep getting dead ends.
I'll try to recount what I've done but I've tried so many things I'm probably a bit mixed up. Was using b180 and and Ephemeral Rom for months, decided to go to b321 for black pyramid. Trouble began. Tried dload method (button method wouldn't work, used dialer), it rebooted back to the custom rom. Went to recovery, still TWRP. Wiped, it booted into stock EMUI. Was still rooted, with kangtools somehow. Tried using supersu unroot, failed. Flashed stock recovery from bootloader hoping to update to nougat (gave up on b321), since then it won't boot and I can only get into bootloader and eRecovery. Tried downloading latest version and recovery, getting package fails. Tried reflashing TWRP in bootloader, shows success but brings me back to Erecovery. Tried rayglobe knife unbrick with extracted images from what I believe is my stock firmware. It completes, I press any key to reboot and get stuck on the 'your device is unlocked and can't be trusted' screen. I let it sit there overnight. Tried relocking bootloader but it can't because of root type. Tried manually flashing cust, boot, system, recovery, which is successful, yet I still get stuck at the 'your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted'. Tried using HRK tool but ADB isn't authorized? USB debugging was allowed before I got locked out. I'm stuck, don't know what else to do. I've thought to download another stock firmware but none of the links in the stock thread work anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One thing that is really racking my brain, why does Erecovery remain after fastboot flashing twrp?
Somehow got back into twrp, flashed 7.0 files and now running nougat. Cannot get back to twrp for the life of me and it doesn't always boot but it's progress. This phone is crazy.
Hello.
I unbricked my phone few. Weeks ago. Now it's fully fonctionnal. But I still can't boot to TWRP. The only manner I found, it's using srktool to reboot in TWRP... The official manner start erecovery too.
hi friend,have you problem....
help meeeee.
have flash a lot rom with fastboot unbrick
but no star sistem
have rom 192 emiui 4

[Solved] Stuck in "test-keys" ROM

Here's the short version:
- FRD-L14
- EMUI 5.0, but apparently a broken version somehow. The Build number says "NRD90M test-keys". Android 7.0.
- Unlocked bootloader
- FRP locked, which is apparently stopping me from re-flashing TWRP. EMUI seems to have overwritten TWRP.
The version of EMUI 5 I have is a bit messed up - possibly I did something wrong installing it, but I can't try again because of the FRP thing. I've tried various FRP techniques I found online but none work. I can't relock the bootloader either, and the EMUI recovery thing fails to recover the phone. Factory reset even fails.
Does anyone know how to unlock FRP? "OEM unlocking" in developer tools is disabled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ok, I got this working. Here's what I found:
Cause
I flashed the B360 update.zip via TWRP, but did not apply the update_data_full zip file. Further compounding the problem, EMUI overwrote TWRP with its own recovery and when I signed into my google account it activated the Factory Reset Protection lock, so I could no longer flash TWRP.
And since I didn't apply the regional update, I had no update software and the EMUI recovery did not recognize the phone as being upgradable to any known ROM. (I used Firmware Finder and tried every single update.zip and update_data zip file.) Without TWRP I couldn't take matters into my hands apply an update myself.
Solution
The fix, finally, was to downgrade to EMUI 4 by using Huawei's downgrade package and then flashing an appropriate ROM:
Download this and follow the instructions:
http://www.hihonor.com/us/support/details/index.html?DOC_ID=92098
Then use the update.zip referenced in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/frd-l14-users-how-to-restore-downgrade-t3537433
For the latter, I had to unzip the contents of the zip file to the "dload" directory in the device's internal storage, the power off and restart while holding volume up/down.
Then finally, I was able to clear FRP upon starting the phone, and use the OTA upgrader to get to a properly installed EMUI 5.0 build. Thanks to the huaweimate team on telegram for their assistance.

Bricked honor 8

Hello, today while trying to get back to stock i wierdly bircked my honor 8
I flashed the stock recovery and stock boot img
Then i flashed a rollback package and a marshmallow package which i used for this same thing before.
Now the phone didnt start for a solid 30 minutes and ive decided to reflash the rollback and marshmallow package, but after i flashed the rollback got stuck at the boot logo, not even the stock bootanimation showing up.
The phone doesnt reboot neither in any of the recoveries nor in bootloader.
Any help would be appreciated.
Stephen
It will be tricky if you haven't at least access to fastboot :/
I think the best thing to do is to flash another ROM, use the dload method again and again because apparently that's all you have
You can also take a look at DC unlocker, it may resolve your issue
Have you managed to fix the phone ?
Not yet, i will try again tho in a few hours with the dload method, by flashing stock boot img then using rollback and then marshmallow firmware.
Don't forget that you need a stock BOOT.IMG and Recovery.img to perform dload method

Mate 9 OpenKirin LineageOS 15.1 WiFi and Bluetooth stopped working.

So everything was working great until two weeks ago when a few apps updated and my son installed some games on my phone. Now WiFi and Bluetooth won't toggle. Every now and then it works but not for long and I am hoping its corporate policies update that went wrong. I tried to reset the phone by reapplying my ROM but now my recovery sector won't toggle with volume up and power. When I tried to fastboot reflash over everything got all jacked up. I think my recovery backup is corrupt. Now I randomly can load the OS. Downloaded a full ota ROM for my phone but some stuff has changed since I did this last and I'm really turned around. Using a spare iPhone atm and I miss my android apps.
My phone is on an oreo treble ROM format but I can't seem to get it back to pre error status. I'm turned around about which tutorial to try and don't want to brick my phone using the wrong guide. I'd like to go back to openkirin lineageos 15.1 or better yet any stable pie 16 ROM. Alternatively back to emui works as well.
Could someone please direct me as how to proceed?
Its starting to come back to me a bit. I downloaded the right OTA_FULL region version of my product type.
MHA-L29C567 - US Firmware Download from the following link
https://pro-teammt.ru/en/online-firmware-database/?firmware_model=MHA-L29C567&firmware_page=0
This file MHA-L29C567B377 (8.0.0.377) MHA-L09C567B377 (8.0.0.377)
Used Huawei UpdateExtractor to pull the following img files from the Update.app link in the filelist.
System.img
Ramdisk.img
Recovery_ramdis.img
Kernel.img
Flashed the device from fastboot using the following commands
fastboot flash system
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash kernel KERNEL.img
Now I can enter recovery Volume Up + Power and do a factory reset but the process never yield a working phone it gets to the boot screen and keeps looping.
Any advice from the forum from where to go from here would be greatly appreciated. I just want to return to stock to see if there is a hardware issue with the phone and the WiFi and Bluetooth. I've read guides for returning to stock but the process I believe is for a Nougat ROM and I have a Treble (OREO+) harware partition structure.
Can someone point me to the proper guide?
I'm back.
Edited: missing link and grammer
I figured out how to fix my phone after reading this article
https://************/unlock-root-brick-recover-huawei-mate-9/
I'm replying in the hope to help anyone else with a US C567 Mate 9 in the same predicament. I'm using Stock OREO 8.0.0.377 EMUI with the Pixel Launcher found here:
https://huaweiadvices.com/download-android-p-launcher-apk-for-huawei-emui-phones-pixel-3-launcher/
Section on Unbricking in particular but also adding Custom TWRP recovery and re-branding the phone is what I used. My bootloader was already unlocked which I believe anyone else in this predicament will need to have as well to add TWRP. Process I followed was as such;
1) Installed Custom Recovery TWRP
2) Re-Branded the Huawei Mate 9 to Firmware C636 up to step 8
3) Then I used the Huawei eRecovery to connect my phone to Huawei's Servers and it connected downloaded and installed the appropriate ROM.
4)Updateded to the latested patch and all is corrected with my WIFI and Bluetooth as well.
So my wifi and bluetooth issue came back and I'm all but convinced at the point that the issue is with thee hardware. Really a shame I reset the phone and I'm at the stock and OEM rom at this point for my use model but nothings aside from Mobile data works. I guess I'm in the market for a new phone.
