Google Play Services draining battery - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Hi
So google play services is draining battery like no tomorrow on my Google Pixel.
I tried installing different mods from Magisk, but it keeps reverting back to 'not optimised' in battery settings, because of app administrations.
It seems that some alarms are keeping the device awake, with com.google.android.location.ALARM_WAKEUP_LOCATOR causing 105 wakeups.
Is there anything to do about this?

Better Battery Stats - what's causing "NetworkStats" & related Partial Wakelocks?
I think I've isolated my battery drain down to a few things through BetterBatteryStats and GSam Battery Monitor:
1. "NetworkStats" as the longest Partial Wakelock and "RILJ" and "AlarmManager" as the highest count Partial Wakelocks in Better Battery Stats.
2. In GSam battery monitor "Android System" is almost always #1 for number of times waking devices, and usually followed in #2/3 by "Google Maps" and "Google+". Google+ sync'ing is turned off, but the "Sync Instant Upload" is turned on. I can't for the life of me figure out why Google Maps is always high on this list, even when I don't open the app all day.
Does anyone have any tips for how I can figure out what is triggering these NetworkStats/RILJ/AlarmManager/Android System/Google Maps wakelocks?
I'm thinking they are all related to each other through something like Calendar, or some other Android service gone awry. I don't know of any other way beyond Better Battery Stats and GSam to isolate the drain down to something more specific and measurable. Any thoughts or tips are appreciated.
Just wondering, is Google location services, gps satellites, location and Google search turned on?

I did not turn off Google Location Services.. what apps/services fall under that?
I also did not turn off Location and Google search, but that shouldn't be causing wake locks when I'm not using my phone, right?
GPS Satellites were turned off.
I have the same issue on my nexus. I have all three option disabled but get google keeps have the network location service running in the background. I even cleared maps cache and force stop. it really annoying

Sorry to hear - but glad to hear I'm not the only one that has noticed this. Are you running stock, custom rom, or what? One suspect is the HTC weather widget, I have that on my home screen but it's set to sync only once every 4 hours.
There must be some way to delve into what is triggering "NetworkStats".
So some of the things I've done so far that have helped:
Uninstalled the applications on{x} and Pageonce. Both were regularly showing large amounts of wake locks.
Disable Google+ sync'ing in BOTH Settings->Accounts AND within the Google+ application. Within Google+ there are separate Notification, Messenger, and Hangout sync settings. I'm not positive that disabling from within the app is necessary but I was still getting wake locks from Google+ after disabling it within Settings->Accounts. I'll know soon enough if that helps.
Disable redditnews from checking for new mail. I had accidentally set this to check for new reddit mail every 15 minutes!
Disable GPS satellites, Google Location Services, and Location and Google search from within the Settings->Location menu. I did this to see if it would eliminate the Google Maps wake locks that I can't seem to get rid of or pinpoint the cause of. It's only been a day but it seems the Google Maps wake locks have been cut down, but not completely. It's driving me crazy not knowing what is triggering Google Maps to wake lock my phone. The hunt continues...
I am on a custom rom LiquidSmooth 4.0.4 base.. I have tried removing anything that deals with maps but that stupid service still starts

[Q] play services keeping phone awake draining batteries

My phone has always been awake when screen turned off and I think the play service is causing the problem. As shown in the pics I used the app ops to disable the play services permission to keep phone awake however it doesnt seem to work. Now my battery is being drained super fast even though I have my screen turned off most of the time. Anybody can help me identify the real reason why the battery is being drained so fast and why play services are still able to keep phone awake even though its permission to do so has been disabled? Thanks.
Same problem here. *AppOps screenshot from today, other screenshot for December 31st. AppOps still had Google Play Services keep awake disabled.*

Google Play Services (com.google.android.gms) cause battery drain when in deep sleep

Android 5.1 stock rom, everything is up-to-date.
Yesterday, before to go to bed I've done the following:
I turned off wifi, set the phone to plane mode and activated the power save under the battery settings (which should reduce a lot of things). Before to lock the screen my battery was at 57 %. After 8 hour my battery was at 44 %.
Thanks to "BetterBatteryStats" - BBS - I've found, under the "Alarms" section, that the process com.google.android.gms was reported to be active at 56 %.
I am sure that I don't have other WakeLocks, firstly because no Wake Locks are reported by BBS - and the deep sleep is correctly reported also by BBS, and secondly because the phone is only awake when the screen is on:
I ask to myself: why Google Play Store remains active when there is no active connection on my phone, and when the sync is disabled? Furthermore, under the wifi option I also disabled the option wifi scan always available.
I think I'm on the right way to solve this issue. I've done some research and I installed "Disable Service" from the playstore.
First of all, please keep in mind that I use just few Google Apps: Gmail, Google App (to use the vocal assistant) and the Play Store. With the following changes all these apps still work without issues (at least for now).
last night i left my phone in standby as yesterday (plane mode, wifi turned off and powersave activate): for 8 hours is always stayed at 91 % of charge
Here the services of which I got rid:
LockScreenService
BackupTransport
Googlelocationservice
GoogleLocationManagerService
GcmService
These four services were always active as background processes on my phone.
Then, using Gemini App Manager, I went to Google Play Services, and by going under "AppOps" I turned off the "Wake Lock" authorization.
Furthermore, I also disabled other services related to G apps which I don't use:
com.google.android.gms.drive.api.DriveAsyncService com.google.android.gms.fitness.sync.FitnessSyncAdapterService
com.google.android.gms.games.service.GamesSyncServiceMain
com.google.android.gms.games.service.GamesSyncServiceNotification
com.google.android.gms.drive.metadata.sync.syncadapter.MetadataSyncService
com.google.android.gms.plus.service.OfflineActionSyncAdapterService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.ReportingSyncService
com.google.android.gms.kids.restrictions.sync.RestrictionsSyncService
com.google.android.gms.drive.metadata.sync.syncadapter.SyncAdapterService
com.google.android.gms.subscribedfeeds.SyncService com.google.android.gms.kids.timeouts.sync.TimeoutsSyncService
com.google.android.gms.fitness.wearables.WearableSyncService
and all services related to Google Drive.
But the above section i'm not sure which is useful, since I never seen these services active on my phone, also because I uninstalled a lot of g-apps (Drive, Games, Plus, Books, News, Music).
I will keep updated this discussion when/if I will encounter some trouble (eg I want to test Google Maps and the GPS).
Dude i got the same problem!! But i play quite a lot with my Mi4c so i sould care what i'm going to stop!
This thing is really annoying anyway :/

sensor_ind and Significant Motion Detector Kernel Wakelock waking up Device

Recently I have been facing a wierd battery drain issue... A kernel wakelock as "sensor_ind" keeps waking My Device up from Deep Sleep when the Device is locked... The time of device awake and the time that wakelock was on and the time Google Play Services used "Significant Motion Detector" is almost the same (in the screenshot all 3 is on for about 4 hrs)... Is it related to Doze function linked with Play Services or any app using it??? I tried different ROMs with different Kernel but this issue persists in all (for the last 1 week)...
I tried a lot of tweaks to fix it but none helped... I tried adding Play Services to battery optimisation, restricted running in background, restricted keep awake... Tried wiping Play Services data and reinstalling it updates...
I attached screenshots using BetterBatteryStats app before sleeping and after I woke up...
I have the same issue

Google Play Services Wakelocks

Hi,
What are the normal wakelock amount that you usually have from Google Play Services? I'm trying to guess if I have some kind of battery drain problem or if it's normal.
For example, yesterday I had a total of 260 wakelocks from Google Play Services, while being only at my office and then at home, with Screen On Time of 1 hour.
