My pixel XL is stuck in what appears to be the factory Android recovery with the only two options being factory data reset or try again. When I connect with ADB it shows the phone as unauthorized. when I select try again it boot loops and then goes right back to Android recovery.
BL is unlocked, and I had installed TWRP.
Thanks in advance to any help or direction you can give me. This is already proving to be much more complicated than my Nexus 6!

First of all, I have gone through every similar post, but none helped and so created a new post
Device: Nexus 5
Tried to flash: Stock 5.0 image from Google's website
Bootloader unlocked: Yes
Method used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
Tried step 1, it gave an error: archive does not contain system.sig, but it still went ahead with the process and when tried to boot into recovery to perform a wipe data/factory reset, it showed a small Android logo with a red triangle and exclamation mark.
So I tried step two and manually flashed all the files in the order and in the end (after erasing cache), I tried booting into recovery again and got the same thing. Android logo with a red triangle and exclamation mark inside it. I thought the recovery wouldn't have flashed properly, I booted into bootloader again and manually flashed recovery.img and tried. Still the same. WIthout doing a wipe data/factory reset, I do not think the phone will boot up properly. What am I to do here? Stuck in this and cannot use the phone at all. Any help at all is welcomed. Thanks in advance!
Any questions, please ask me.
Edit: I tried locking and then unlocking the bootloader and tried step 2, while booting into the recovery mode, instead of the red triangle, I got the standing Android logo with the blue sphere sort of thing revolving in it. What do I do next when I see that Android logo? Thank you

The first boot takes a LONG time. Just let it go for a while.

So, I did try as you said. I left it but it kept booting for more than 20 minutes. What to do now?
Same thing happened to me.. You just have to do a factory wipe and then reboot..
When you get to the screen with dead android, with the power button pressed, press vol up key once and you will be in the recovery screen. Do a factory wipe from the screen and reboot..
It should be working now..

Incredible. That, worked! I did a rookie mistake by pressing both at the same time which led to nothing. Got it up and running. Thank you everyone for their inputs, couldn't have done without it
The factory wide and reset does not work for me. Stills tuck at the boot animation.
I recently had the same issue with my Nexus 5 and have been back and forth with Google Play support to resolve the issue with no success on that front. However I did get my issue resolved, which was caused by a corrupt /persist filesystem. What I did was this:
Flash CWM Recovery
Reboot into Recovery
notice that /persist isn't mounted, try mounting it and it will fail
Launch and ADB shell
run 'e2fcsk /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist'
let it fix any errors found
try to mount the /persist partition, it should work now
(Optional) reboot to bootloader, flash whichever recovery you want or stay with CWM
reboot into system, all should be fine now
After successfully repairing and mounting /persist within CWM Recovery I powered off and just flashed the stock 5.0 image from the Google Factory Images page.
A special thanks to bitdomo for his information here which ultimately fixed my issues:

Hi,
Running stock lollipop 5.0.1 on my nexus 5 - boot loader unlocked, no root been like this since 5.0.1 was released. No recent software changes.
Today my nexus turned off itself and now will only show the Google boot screen (white text /lock at the bottom). I can boot into the fast boot recovery (holding down power and volume) but when I click to enter recovery mode I just get a blank screen and nothing happens.
Thought maybe flashing the stock image would fix this but I have no usb access when I connect to my Mac and not recognised in adb command.
Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated if even to reset the tamper flag and lock boot loader to get a warranty replacement.
Thanks.
Looks like you might have had a bad flash.
If all else fails, your saving grace is that you can still get into fastboot. Do you have a customer recovery installed?
If not, install TWRP or CWM and that should get you to a state to backup your data. Even better, you might be able to troubleshoot further.
And if that still doesn't work, you can always flash the factory image from fastboot.
Good Luck!
I have been running with Nolimit ROM since early on. On Sunday I decided to try Franken. All seemed to go well with the flash but the phone would boot into the red screen. I shut it off and it refused to turn back on. I let it charge overnight and tried to turn it on the next morning. Nada. I did notice that it was showing a device under ports. After doing some searching, I found the tool that OnePlus uses to recover from the hard brick. Installed using the tool and it completed successfully. Upon reboot it would just hang at the initial splash screen. Doing more research I found the Hydrogen OS recovery and tried that. Again, I see the H2OS splash screen but it never boots. I can get into Fastboot and Recovery and have tried clearing everything. Before I go back to the Oxygen OS, is there anything else I can do or is it RMA time?
BTW, the bootloader is now locked, a side effect from using the OnePlus recovery tool.
I almost forgot... because the OS won't boot, It won't allow OEM unlock. Trying to unlock the bootloader gives a failed for remote access.
Thanks in advance.
You can't boot locked with a non-stock recovery. The bootloader won't allow it.
Maybe try running the unbrick tool again. Sorry, if you can get to recovery, you don't need the unbrick tool. You should be able to adb push the full OS to your phone and flash it in recovery.
The stock recovery does not provide a way to flash. At least I don't see anything

Hi guys,
I need a bit of help in regards to my oneplus 7 pro 5g edition (GM1920) I previously attempted to root the phone as always and have accidentally wiped the system via twrp, i am now currently stuck in fastboot mode and it appears that the phone has now wiped the factory recovery as every time i attempt to go into it via the fastboot screen or reflash twrp, it shows the 1+ logo for a split second and reboots to fastboot, usually with previous devices reflashing twrp would have been enough but it seems that there is nothing i can do at the moment, any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you
SOLVED: Turns out it was rather simple, the phone wasn't flashing to the correct partition and wouldn't let me change, but randomly after a few tries it finally let me change to the correct partition and everything now works like a charm again.

So if you are flashing TWRP through fastboot, it does the same and reboots to fastboot? Are you able to flash twrp successfully? If yes try power+volume down to go into twrp. Then change the slot
in fastboot use your vol buttons and scroll to RECOVERY and click power button after you flash TWRP
Hi guys,
Thank you for the suggestions but i manged to finally figure it out after hours of racking my brain, turns out it was a very simple solution, for some reason the phone was trying to flash to the wrong partition and wouldn't let me change partition, then randomly out of nowhere it did, so i was finally able to reinstall the stock rom and twrp and am now fully rooted with no issued at all.
Thanks again.
My relatives have gotten this watch gifted to them a while back but it was in chinese so to get it to English I had to unlock bootloader and flash the room. But while doing so I by mistake flashed twrp instead of booting into it on the Recovery Partition right after unlocking bootloader and after rebooting, it was stuck in a horrible bootloop. Why is it horrible?
So the problem is, it keeps booting into twrp, fails to mount data cache and everything, shuts down and reboots again, shows a warning that it can't detect an operating system and continues to boot into the same twrp recovery and so on. When I try to boot into bootloader, it says to go to g.co/ABH and read instructions to proceed, but after holding down the button to continue to boot, it goes back to the same bootloop.
I cannot boot it into bootloader or get it into fastboot, I can't do anything in twrp and I can't boot into os (cause of course, there is none). Does anyone know how I can fix this? I've been struggling for 4 hours with this today. I'm really scared that I've completely bricked it and can't restore it .
I can see it in adb devices while it's in twrp and twrp is freaking out then shutting down, but I can't even side load a rom to even install something I can boot into.
Link me a thread if there is one where this problem gets fixed or help me please. Thank you!
