Mi unlock version without wait restriction - Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Is there any version of the Mi Unlock Tool that can unlock the Mi Note 3 without waiting for 72 hours?

Be grateful that you need to wait only 72 hours. For other Xiaomi phones you have to wait 720h or more to unlock the bootloader.

I shouldn't have to wait at all. It is my property and it is my lawful right to do with it what I want, even if I may lose warranty because of it.
But you are right, it could be worse, so I'll just use my old phone for three more days since I can't stand Apple UI.

Yeah but this is a Xiaomi policy - there is nothing you can do but just wait. Other brands like Nokia or Huawei don't even allow unlocking the bootloader anymore so it always can got worse.

Huawei removing bootloader unlock codes for all huawei and honor devices

Such sad news, I literally got my device today!
The problem for me is that even though I could unlock my device now, the pull of users and developers to this device is going to plummet to zero on xda , there won't be any (or very few) ROM's, adopters will avoid the device... It's a horrible move from huawei who have a sponsor partnership with xda?? Xda have said they're going to fight it but my guess is huawei may look at their wallet rather than their hearts and stick to their guns.
By all accounts it's "to provide a better service". ???
I have a cooling off period for another 13 days.
If things don't change in a week I'm sending this wonderful opportunity phone back.
Never again
https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-stop-providing-bootloader-unlock-codes/
Edit: all that being said, I like this phone too much, even runs ppsspp and dolphin the same as the onelus 5 did, I've unlocked the bootloader, installed twrp and rooted and now it's running perfectly.
Going to give it a chance.

In the same boat mate, received the phone on Wednesday, got the bootloader unlock code sitting in my email index waiting to be used....and now I see this.
In two minds about the whole thing, on one hand love the phone it seems pretty damn great to me, only want to root for 2 issues (not fault of phone, just personal preference) but on the other hand, lack of ability to unlock bootloader will kill the community here. Do I keep it, unlock and just roll with it, or do I send it back and get something else (Galaxy Note or S9+ probably, community there aint dead lol)?
Have to have a good think about it over the weekend I think.

Avoid the galaxy unless you like baggage and more rules, if I was to buy another phone it would be the HTC 12, no doubt about it.
Personally I've used the unlock code twrp installed and I'm rooted.
Phones a beast, I personally think Huawei will decide against their decision, by all accounts HTC did the same and look what happened to them
Currently looking at debranding from the L09 to the L29 as updates are more timely. Either that or wait for some ROMs to drop.
I'm keeping it now, it's swayed me.
Although I'd I could get the HTC I'd do it in a heartbeat, epic development on XDA.

Since the phone is treble enabled we can use GSI. So theres no "real" need to have an active development community dedicated for this phone only.

You don't necessarily need to convert from L09 to L29 to get faster updates, you just need to change region from 782 to 432. The L09 & L29 firmwares are interchangeable and are released together but it's UK specific updates that are lagging behind.
Saying that, I don't think there's a way to convert to 432 without being converted to L29 in the process anyway lol

Which version of TWRP did you use? The official one or the non official one? Both have threads in these forums, but the official one seems to have more complaints and problems in its thread.
Thinking of getting unlock code... Does it end warranty? And how do I get product ID, that #*#*1357946*#*# thing did not work. Yes, did try right code, one i wrote here might not be remembered correctly?

Like i said, when I tried to get product ID the code was certainly right. To that message i took it out of memory, and did not remember it right. Funny, i can get for example imei code with right "dialer code" but not that product code. How to proceed? Would like to get unlock code, to be on safe side if I some day (probably sooner than later) want to use it.

Keep hold of the bootloader unlock code you got as if they go ahead with removing the service, they're likely to release updates in the future that will relock unlocked bootloaders on install. You should be able to re-unlock with the same code but it's a pain as an update won't wipe data but then having to re-unlock will ?

There's another site that does them.
Can't recall the name.
Just ordered the P20 Pro today after I upgraded my partners one yesterday to the P20. Its looks a fantastic phone so I had to go one better and get the pro. I got the unlock code for hers and will request mine tomorrow. Is there any need to use the unlock code? I don't plan on hoping for a better ROM as the stock one looks pretty reasonable to me.

It is but rooting etc has its benefits, you've only got to go on a few threads here to see that.
Plus who knows what the future holds plus treble is always an option

Fubar!!! 360 hours to unlock... Bruno Mars says "what!?!?!?!"

Picked up a Mi Mix 2S (had a Mi Mix 2 for about a week), and I wanted to unlock the boot loader like the Mi Mix, and Mi Mix 2.
Mi Mix took 3 - 5 days, after having to go on miui forums to beg to get the sms notification to try to unlock it.
Mi Mix 2 took 72 hours... Yeah, I know, whatever. (had it about two weeks ago, and unlocked it)
Mi Mix 2s that I received yesterday, says after 1st attempt... 360 hours! That's 15 F'in days.
What Da F*** is that?!?!?!?
Is there no workaround? Can you PAY to get it unlocked faster?
This is amateur hour.
Cheers,
LormaD

i feel with you bro… need still wait 16hours… just tried it a couple of times… i'm not sure if its really needed to wait all the time but i didn't tried any tricks at all...
i also read trying to often maybe blocks the account at all...
i thougt that my dumbass unlock tries blocked me for 360hours... i tried a couple of times unlocking but i didn't read correctly where to bind my account in the phone.. i did this a couple of times.. until i realized that i need to enable the dev mode and there bind the mi account…but looks like this is just a protection at all that resellers don't flash fake or custom roms at all...

Tried it.. not working for me.. get the error that the phone is not bound to the account. And when the phone is bound, it's 360 hours. Mickey Mouse stuff Xiaomi.
Thanks though...
I think it's better to have time limit on unlocking than have chinese sellers flashing shady stuff on every unit they sell. You can still unlock eventually, which is nice.

I don't agree with this analogy. It makes no sense. If that is the mongering reason behind this, then one day why not have hours replaced by days... 360 days? C'mon! Let's stop repeating the rhetoric.
Had I have known before, I may have NOT have purchased the Mix 2S. But once you open it and use it, you bought it. It tarnishes a great product. It comes across like a fumbling amateur, who will one day face the North American market and have to overcome much greater obstacles and scrutiny that is not biased from the public eye.
Okay, the Mix was 3 - 5 days to unlock as "people" and Xiaomi navigated the waters. I had to escalate it online to get it to unlock.
The Mix 2 was less new to me, the concept, and to an extreme better laid out (the unlocking process). Even though frustrating, having to wait 72 hours, it was what it was, a long weekend and done with.
The Flagship Mix 2S will take me 360 hours. Is that the standard for everybody? Or is it (like me) you request a 2nd unlocking within 360 hour period, automatically go from a 72 hour wait to 360 wait?!?!! Am I some kind of shady dealer LMFAO!
C'mon Xiaomi, your making Bruno Mars say WHAT?!?!?!!?

Or you just order a factory sealed one, like I did, simple as that.
Most sellers want to sell phones, can't be bothered by installing "shady stuff".
Often the sellers offer to flash a Global Version rom as a service, for the not so technical buyers.
For the technical buyers & if it says Global version, just drop the seller a message you want it sealed.
Moving units asap is the goal, every extra flashing that needs to be done costs time.
........edit.......... 360 hours also waiting for Mi ehrm.. me.. Seems to be general, unlocked lots of Mi before...

My unit WAS Sealed... brand, spanking new, global version. I broken open the seals myself. Just like the Mix 2 (which requested 72hours), the Mix 2S was sealed, it even had more packaging, protective plastic piece in place over the front and rear of the phone than the Mix 2.
Cheers

Isn't huawei locking the bootloader like really bad for future rom life of this phone?
only a fraction of honor 10 users will ever get to install other roms on their phones... so who's going to develop a rom forna phone like that?

Yes it's an odd move not sure on full story or reason behind this decision it's not handy at all , i read a while ago this may be happening luckly it popped up on a feed today and as I only got my honor 10 yesterday I quickly got my code just incase Inthe future I want to root and try a custom ROM , but again this decision may kill of development for new devices I came from a OnePlus 6 and they have the right idea in gifting 36 OnePlus 6 to Devs for development , I'm now contemplating if I made a good choice . Was planning to ask for the unlock code, but....
"Unlocking the bootloader may result in unpredictable consequences for your device, including but not limited to those listed above. The user shall be held responsible in the event that the device malfunctions and cannot be recovered. Huawei will record your unlock request information; for software and hardware failures arising as a result of unlocking the bootloader, Huawei repair centers can provide repair services charged at the standard rate for repair work outside the scope of the warranty."
I'll prefer paying for an unlock app if I decide i need to one day, rather than losing my warranty for a code I'll probably never use.
If the hardware in your device starts malfunctioning - doesn't matter if 3rd party rom caused it, or if you even ever used a 3rd party rom...
chance is: huawei is going to put the blame on a 3rd party rom.
Wouldn't Huawei be better off if they kept offering the unlock codes? That way, if somebody screws up their device,
Huawei will know it's registered as an unlocked device and will not have to repair it for free
Guess they didn't think it through properly.
They stop the process of offering the codes because many people bricked their phone in the flashing/unlocking procedure and i think it were many complaints about this. So they think its a saftey measure.
I don't think requesting the code voids warranty I had a honor 9 lite that I applied for the code never actually used it had an issue later on were it would keep randomly re booting and switching off when used camera was replaced no issue under the 2 year warranty
Sent from my COL-L29 using Tapatalk
After they get their code and try roms and sh*t they brick their phone, not prior to that
Your warranty is voided after you use the code, its not like at Xioami, the bootloader will pe RELOCKED, not locked. So they can see that you used it.
I still cant get it, so i just stoped trying.
well the disclaimer is clear. when they "think" its caused by rooting (even if you never did) then you might have bo warranty because they can see who asked for the unlock code.
---
like those ppl who have malfunctioning hardware in phone, a phone that absolutely never got wet,
send it to repair and receive the message that "their phone got wet, repair will cost 90% of original price and if they want phpne back unrepaired then they need to pay 50$ for inspection and shipping costs...

Oh it's usually 15 days but most of the times It gets unlocked a few days earlier if tried (happened to quite a few). Yep, once that wait time is over, it would unlock the bootloader when you try again but would format the storage as well.

Any cheaper unlock codes?

I want to get this device unlocked, EMUI is a *****. But I don't really have 50 dollars to shell out for the unlock code. Is there anything cheaper?

He said he doesn't have $50...Global Unlocking site charges $45-50 too...
I contacted them on viber, they said the service is still in the works and when it's finished the price will be set.
Right now, seems like close to never. I happen to own Note 10, and I know it was possible to get boot code from it on the old software, back in Android 8 for sure.
That might not be possible anymore on those updated to 9.1, but would have to confirm 100%.
I work in mobile tech also reselling those kinds of services. The access to Huawei bootloader codes is tightly shut for months now.
In my opinion, there is a better chance of someone finally figuring out how to service Huawei/Honor on newer security/chipsets (which is the actual problem here) then of new access coming back.
Even if it did, it would probably cost $$$ and would most likely be shut down pretty quickly.
If I'm perfectly honest with you guys, those waiting for the boot codes might just be better switching to new devices.
