I have a xtrons px5 running a custom Oreo ROM.
I want to add a few buttons to my steering wheel since the car didn't come with any. To test, before I got a couple Bluetooth buttons, I attempted to connect my Bluetooth keyboard. It does show up in the list of available Bluetooth devices, so something sees it, but when I tap on it, nothing happens.
Anyone know how I could get that working or otherwise add some buttons that I could map to whatever?
Some extra hardware control buttons on the steering wheel would make a world of difference in usability. Volume, home, back, app links, etc.
I for one bought an "universal car steering wheel remote control", it's actually 2 small round radio controllers that talk to a receiver that is connected to the android head unit. The 2 small controllers are glued to the steering wheel with double sided tape, for now the tape that they came with holds. If you're brave enough, you can even drill 2 holes in the front of the steering wheel and "sink" the radio controllers so that the buttons are flush with the steering wheel. Since the controllers are small enough i didn't bother doing that.
There are multiple models, i liked this one most, just make sure the head unit (HU) that you have does support this type of device.
In my case, the HU has 2 wires called "key1" and "key2" that i needed to connect the radio receiver to.
This is the model for reference : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-...-Smart-Button-Key-Remote-Control/272919120081

P.S. this controllers can be installed anywhere in the car, they don't have to go on the steering wheel, you can "stick" them anywhere in the car.

Hi All,
Many phones nowdays have a builtin FM radio transmiter, my phone doesn't, so I connected a regular FM Transmiter to the headphone jack of my phone and I am able to transmit frequenices to a radio receiver.. In general I am able to listen music from my phone player on to another FM radio receiver.
My question..:
Is it possible to built a software/application that can control a RC toy (like a RC car/truck/helicopter) using the FM transmiter (Internal or external).
I am not a developer or electronic engineer, but as per my understanding the RC toys work on FM transmission.. i.e. FM signals received by the RC toys receiver transmited from the remote control..
If we can make a application that can help transmit certain frequencies out of the receiver it would be great fun... after all hi-end phones nowdays are toys..
Moved as not software release.
Is it possible...?
What you propose makes sense but the fm transmiters in devices are not very powerfull. They are more intended for short range use within an automobile. Saw a video before where guy used his n900 to control mini helecopter but he had to stay within a couple of feet to maintain control. Then there is THIS which uses wifi and is pretty damn cool. On my winmo device I use remote desktop to control my train layout in the backyard through a host computer in the house on my network.

And yes I'm a dork and a nerd. Just to avoid any criticism. But bring it on anyway...
good day.
Wow, your train setup looks good...!!
and that AR.Drone for iPhone is also amazing..!!
Hope we get something for our windows mobile withour the need of Remote Desktop..
Hello, so i recived my Usb-Otg cable few days ago. First of all, i tried mostly everything it supports, usb-flash drivs, mouse, keyboard, usb camera, etc. Everything works flawlessly. No problems at all. Then i tried my gamepad ( generic usb

gamepad). Before downloading any apps, like usb joy center. I simply plugged it in and tried playing modern combat 5. Big suprise to me was that it detected my gamepad, and switched all controls for my gamepad. It detected as if i have the real android-made gamepad. One thing that didnt work though was buttons and for some reason right axis. It works but it is all messed up, like when i push it to the left side, ingame camera goes up. Inverting axis ingame settings didnt fix it either. Then i downloaded usb bt joy center free. I kind of fixed the buttons but no matter what i cant fix the axis of right analog stick. I tried creating driver through the app, but it seems there is no way to change stick axis there. If simply leaves the right stick messed up.
Is there any way to fix it?
Nexus 5 stock 4.4.4 towelrooted.

Bump again
I doubt anyone is going to know about why your generic pad does this.

I though someone might know how to change axis of gamepad sticks with some app. Bt/usb joy i think doesnt have this feature.

Hi everyone, my car tablet (px5 4/32 gb mounted on the renault clio 4), with the machine off, turns off even if I open the passenger side door.
This operation is abnormal, it should only switch off when the driver's door is opened because it means that I am leaving the car .... it was like this with the stock car radio.
Is there any way to remedy this thing ??

It sounds like the car has been wired incorrectly. If it's a LHD it could have RHD wiring loom or vice versa. It's unusual but not uncommon for Renault to have done this.
I suggest looking for electrical diagram for the vehicle and see where the activation switch is or also call a Renault dealer and ask if they've come across this before. I'd your vehicle is under warranty I suggest putting the old stereo back in and take it back under warranty for the fault. But don't tell them you've had another stereo installed to try it out. Just don't say anything just let them think it's on just the OEM unit.
But a good diagram will tell you what cable is what and you can see the diagram for each door and compare the difference between both.

Maybe change the setting in settings - Car - factory settings - Canbus change from left rudder to right rudder.
the radio also switches off when I open the driver's door. with the stock car radio I didn't have this problem, it worked correctly.

I tried to set on right rudder but nothing changes
Hi Folks,
I recently installed a MTCE_HT PX30 Headunit. My 2010 Mazda 3's factory bluetooth module was separate from the factory radio. So the buttons for Call answer/Call End/ Voice assistant were connected directly to module. I was able to isolate the single wire coming from these three switch and connect it to the KEY1 wire of the HU.

When I go to my factory settings and change the "Steering wheel key assign" to "SWC key" I am able to program those three buttons but lose my track change and mode buttons (These come from the CANbus decoder). If I change it to "Can Key", I am able to assign the Volume/track seek/MODE buttons but lose my three Call/voice assistant buttons which I connected to KEY1 wire.
Would you know if there is any specific connection that needs to be made which will enable both sets of buttons to work at the same time? I've added the pic of the factory setting page that I am talking about below.
Were you able to find a solution to this? I am trying to make the phone and speech buttons work with my eonon head unit.
@joker_yss how did you plug the pink cable from the box to the head unit? Did u just t tapped the pink cable to the Key 1 cable?
I know there are a lot of threads and discussions about remapping a vehicle's steering wheel, either through the unit's default SWC app or some kind of apk. However, I don't see anything on modding the dash itself. I drive a 2017 Ford Explorer and bought the T'eyes CC3, which came with the trim to replace the old one. The issue with the new panel is that it's made for several Explorers: Newer ones with Auto A/C, and older ones with Manual A/C. I have manual, so that means that half of these buttons do nothing.

1. The "AUTO" on the top left corner is for the sensors that take the outside temperature, and adjust climate automatically. I don't have those, thus it doesn't do anything when pressed for me.
2. The "DUAL" in the bottom right corner is for vehicles with Dual Zone climate. The driver and passenger can adjust the climate independently for their side, hence why there are TWO temperature rockers at the bottom. I don't have this feature either, so the dual button does nothing, and temperature rockers work as a whole. They do adjust the temperature, just not specific to one side. Thus, feels kind of repetitive to have two.
3. The "SOUND" to the right of the eject CD button is a Quick Access to the Equalizer. It feels a little silly, since EQ for me is often a "set once and forget" kind of deal, I would rather it open like the default music app or something.
If anyone has any thoughts on how to remap some of these to other functions, please let me know.
