Music - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

I have not been able to access any new music added to the phone since the original transfer from my HTC. If I look at the music file when hooked to the computer i can see the files but any music player I have tried to use does not load the new stuff? any suggestions.

Have you tried using poweramp to play three music? You can go in the folder settings and rescan then it should find any music files on the phone.
When you view it connected to the computer, is it located in the music folder?
Can you see it when using a file explorer app on your phone?

[Q] Cannot add MP3 to media - can't locate anywhere except root explorer

Standard music player can't find mp3 unless I go to root explorer and locate it directly. It will play in root explorer via the standard music player, but then there's no option to add it to the playlist, etc. It's in the same folder as 2 other mp3s that are located on the external SD card, which play. Also, when I try to make it a ringtone, it won't locate it either. Any suggestions? I compared all the details on itunes and it says that it's encoded by itunes and the other 2 aren't. Can that be something? Thanks.

It's mp3. Go ahead and try yourself, download sth via torrent and post the result
I tried copying folders of music which I've downloaded from various sources, and they've all worked fine. Your question is pretty vague though.
There's many ways to get music onto your phone; let us know exactly what you did, and we'll be able to see if there's a step you missed.
eg:
1) downloaded torrent from website
2) ran torrent in uTorrent, to download music
3) connected phone to PC in "USB Storage" mode
4) copied downloaded music to 'Music' folder on phone.
The more detail you give, the more easy it will be to figure out what's going wrong.
Personally, I use WinAmp on both PC and Sensation, because that will allow me to sync my music over WiFi, so I don't even have to have my phone nearby - I can leave it in the next room and think "Hey, I need XYZ album for tonight", load WinAmp, and it sends the album to my phone. Nice.
Ok here goes:
1. Installed aDownloader
2. Searched for a torrent that downloads a .mp3 format
3. Downloaded the song
4. Opened the song to check if it is a valid file with FileExpert and Astro,
both played the song without problems
5. Opened the Music Player and did not found the song in the library
6. Moved the downloaded song from the aDownliader folder to Music folder
7. Still not showing in the Music library.
All steps were made without the usage of a pc...
Any thoughts?
Reboot your phone OR download something like SDrescan.....

Some .mp3 won't be on the music library. The only way I've managed to play those mp3's, is to launch it directly from the file. Weird, I know.

Lol, it's somewhat funny.. no it's more like, tragicomic, yeah, tragicomic is the word that such a beast of a phone doen't support the simplest of all features, editing song info in music player and manually scaning the library for new files hahah
Sdrescan saved me and fixed the prob, i gave u +1 for that
P.s rebooting also does the trick but takes a bit longer (the startup scan is to blame)

[Q] How to take advantage of SRS with another player?

Hello!
I've got my Sensation yesterday
Loving it, despite of the bugsss
I see that Sensation can config SRS in the default player, wanna use it with speakers
But I rarely use the default player =\ .. mostly mSpot and I'm thinking of testing Google Music, both having their "custom" players
Is it possible to take advantage of SRS with any other streaming music player?
Or make the default player see the songs downloaded by mSpot? (yea.. I wasn't able to make it do that )
That's weird, cuz it can find musics downloaded by "MP3 Music Download". And it's not the codec either, it's m4a by mSpot.
Thanks in advance!
SRS and Dolby 5.1 are only available through stock apps from my experience. To get your media to show up in the stock app use an app that causes a new media search. SDRescan is free on the market. I use Extended Controls.

Thanks for your reply.
I tried the SDRescan, but it didn't work =\
I've also rebooted the phone.. it just doesn't see the mSpot folder -.-
I'm not familiar with mSpot. You say it stores m4a files on your phone? Try to look for the directory with Astro or Estrong. I'm betting they aren't there or are in a hidden directory. Make sure you set the file manager to show hidden files. Check mSpot to see if there is a setting that allows you to hide media from the Android system. Subsonic has a setting like that.
I did a test copying the mSpot file to another folder.. it was able to see the music
So I guess the file is not the problem
But still can't make it to scan mSpot folder

The files are there. Didn't find any setting like that.
I think I'm just gonna try Google Music (to sync) and play them with default player
Thanks, though!
Oh.. I found a file named ".nomedia" inside mSpot's folder
After deleted that file, it was able to scan the folder ^^
But the song's properties (song name, singer, album..) are encrypted, so they're all messed up XD can't use it!
Just gonna try Google Music..
Use Volume+.

That sucks man. DRM sucks. Yeah any folder with a file .nomedia or any folder that begins with a . is hidden from a media scan. The period first in the name is how you label a file or folder hidden in Linux.

Mate 7 Missing Music Files

Hi,
Every time I copy music files (.mp3, etc) from my computer to the internal storage of the Huawei Mate 7, the Music player can't find any of the music files. I tried transferring to the device's Music folder and Audio folder to no avail -- the Music Player still can't find them. Manually tracking it in the file folder reveals all music files are stored though. But the Music player app keeps on saying "0 music files".
Am I just missing something or do I need to sync it first? Or do I need to use the Huawei Desktop Suite software so the music player recognizes all relevant files?
Thanks

Have you try with another player like PowerAmp or Neutron ? Normally in preferences you can specify in which folder your music is stored.

Thank you sir, I downloaded PowerAmp & Neutron and both were able to automatically track the music files. I wonder why the native music player (or even Google Play Music) doesn't do that automatically.

Any recommendations for Music apps?

Hello everyone!
I am looking for a Music app for my Galaxy S6. I have been researching for a very long time now, and still haven't found the solution, so I thought I'd try getting help from XDA.
-I want to be able add music to a folder on my PC and have that folder wirelessly synchronized with my phone's music folder for offline listening.
-I want to have a desktop version of the app that I can use to manage playlists on my PC and have the playlists wirelessly synchronized with my phone too.
I have tried Google Play Music but it seems to have trouble when there are subfolders or when a certain file is corrupted. It ends up not uploading all my music.
Does anyone have any recommendations for me?
Poweramp

I looked into it, but I found that it didn't have a desktop version that I could use to manage my playlists on PC, and I can't wirelessly synchronize either

sync not available
Hey, half a year ago, I asked myself the same question and I finally found the perfect Player for my and your needs: Google play music. There is also a program for your Desktop which syncs automatically whenever u add music to specific folders. The new Songs are shown on recently added in the app and u can add these Songs to playlists and listen to them offline. If u add Songs on another device to your playlists, they will be downloaded automatically on every device.
Have fun!
Ps: The playlists can be saved on your sd card on your phone. Whenever you delete a playlist on your sd card, it will stillstill be available online to be downloaded. Simple as that, it's like Spotify for your own library
