Has anyone recently tried one of those roms and is the camera working, albeit with crap quality, or is it simply "dead"?
I'd love to use HavocOS on my Honor 8, but i need the camera for QR Code stuff and some basic images for text stuff...

Hey I was wondering if a dev would port the camera and the framework required from the vodaphone 1.5 rom, to the fenderV2 rom which is 1.6.
As the vodaphone rom has got the new camera zoom and focus. And I would like it to work in the fenderV2 rom.
So if any of you have the time can you port the camera over to FenderV2 I chose that rom because its stable and has htc music, I feel it will also benefit other members with the focus feature on a 1.6 firmware.
Thanks for listening,

P.s. If you don't have time thens that's ok but is it possible to do a howto in this thread of doing it.
You would just end up back on a 1.5 rom. For the most part the framework is the base of the rom which is where the version comes from.
Is there any 1.6-based rom that uses HTC's camera software?
Before 2.0/2.1, all I can remember is the Tattoo, but that was a Sense rom, and it requires far more of the framework than a Vodafone/Rogers build would require.

Btw, don't give into the "zoom" frenzy with cameraphones. With Samsung and a few others being the notable exceptions (I'm drooling over the yet-to-be-announced Samsung Halo), the phones use merely digital zoom, which, if you talk to anybody who knows their stuff, is nothing but coding junk. You get the same effect (maybe even better) using video-editing software.
For the focus, the Dream's camera is a two-stage camera button, and that function is disabled on HTC's camera software. Personally, I use that button a lot and get better pictures with it (I can hold the focus until the shot I want is ready), but I guess it's a matter of personal taste.
I'd like to see better video encoding done for the Android's camera. Winmo phones have registry tweaks to allow for better video recording. I wonder why it hasn't been tried for the Dream (mostly because it requires modifying the source, I believe)...
---edit---
Oh, dang, no optical zoom on the Halo, bummer. It's got a projector and 16 GB internal storage though. If it's like the Galaxy, then 1 GB is for apps. That phone will make me glad I had so many problems with my N1 order and ended up not getting one.
So I have this GE Smart Series T145 digital camera. Not a bad little device for the price, but the software in the camera could use refining. For instance, I can change the shutter speed, but it resets to default after every picture. It would also be nice to create and save my own presets, and have other features a simple rewrite of the gui could enable.
Of course, I could spend $500-1000 on a real camera that would have those features. Just wanted to know first if anyone has heard of any less expensive cameras that have user made roms. There doesn't seem to be anything for my model, not even a firmware update.
Hello, my question is not even a little orthodox, it may seem silly but for me it is a real problem.
My Lenovo Vike k6 k33a43 (Brazilian Variant) phone recently had its rear camera with no focus at all, so it was removed, only that some apps cannot select the front camera, that is, a black or white screen depending on the app, I know that to change this in the Lineage OS source code I just don't know where to start I program in C # desktop applications.
An example is my bank's application for some reason I can't use the front camera to scan a qrcode to make a transaction and this is frustrating.
Ok I could buy a camera on Aliexpress but with the devalued BRL it is not viable for me.
Sorry if my question was not clear, my native language is not English
Hello,
does this phone support the Camera2API module? I frequently use OpenCamera and FilmicPro on my Honor 10 so I was wondering if I can do the same with Honor 20. If possible, could someone send screenshots from the 'Camera2 API Probe' and 'Filmic Pro Evaluator' apps?
Thank you.
Ok, so I got ahold of this phone and I tested out what it can and can't do regarding these functions. The result are are not terrible but not great either.
Camera2API
Here is the full report from the Camera2 API Probe. It's hard to read compared to the Android app, but here is my summary: It supports resolutions up to 48MP. It supports manual exposure (ISO/shutter). White balance too. The biggest caveat: no RAW support. You can't shoot in RAW with 3rd party applications like OpenCamera. Manual exposure works, you can also use the wide angle camera with manual exposure controls.
FilmicPro / OpenCamera
Here are the screenshots from the FilmicPro Evaluator app for all of the cameras available. In this case most of the features are supported. The EIS works only up to [email protected] though. You can't shoot 120fps videos with third party applications. The biggest caveat - no Cinematography Kit (aka LOG profile) support. I'm guessing this is related to the RAW format compatibility but I don't actually know. Same goes for OpenCamera, the color profile setting isn't available for video mode. Also, the EIS doesn't seem to work on OpenCamera for some reason.
(here starts the rant)
Honestly it's not bad (better than the P30 for example) but I don't understand why they disabled the RAW shooting option. I don't actually understand why they would limit the API at all for a phone at this price range. Especially when my Honor 10 (which was relased 1 year earlier) has this option. My guess is that it messes with their ****ty marketing gimmicks like 'Ultra-sharp 48mp mode' etc. This phone is good, but Huawei always makes a lot of specific enhancements with their software, and thus the options for customisation are limited. It's not a bad thing for "regular" customers that don't care about features like this, but I think they should allow the enthusiast to do their thing if they want to. It's going downhill since they stopped giving out bootloader unlock codes. While Huawei makes good phones, I feel like they are going more the closed-up iPhone way, and unfortunately this isn't something that suits me. I'll probably look somewhere else for my next phone - something like OnePlus (if the situation doesn't change).
If you have any other questions about the camera, or phone in general, feel free to ask.
Hi all.
I've been doing a lot of reading about the Gcam port for Samsung devices and to be honest, I got lost. With all the Gcam variants, Telegram channels, XML configs... I coulnd't figure out which one is the latest version that is considered the best, out of the LMC or BMG apk's and which is the latest config that won't cause "force close" on all the camera mods for the S23.
It felt like I'm chasing my own tail...
Is there anyone here who knows which is the most suitable and latest verion APK with the correct config that gets all the camera modes working? By camera modes, I mean slow-mo, hi-res, etc.
Thank you!
