Good morning to everybody,
I have a s7 flat sm-g930 with room stock and I have installed TWRP herolte 3.2.3.0 just to be able to do nandroid backups. After installing TWRP the internal memory appears at 0mb, I also have an error when mounting data partition when trying to make backups. I solve this problem by formatting data or formatting wipes of the EXT2 and EXT4. After installing the file "no verity opt encrypt 6.0" and after restart factory data is restored but the TWRP again have the same problem. The internal memory again shows 0mb in TWRP. This process only helps me to install magisk 17.1 but my idea is to make backups from TWRP but it is not possible because TWRP is protected in the next reboot. I have tried to install other files "no verity opt encrypt" that I found in youtube tutorials and even 2 more files "RMM-State_Bypass and Samsung Anti Root Removal 2.4" but with all of them I have the same problem after the reboot. I have also tried to install with odin a previous samsung stock room but the problem is not solved. I would greatly appreciate if someone found the solution and can help me since I have been trying for weeks. I would like to do everything with the official room of samsung, I read some option to install another KERNEL but I do not know if my privacy could be affected. Thanks everyone for your help. a greeting
You need modded TWRP by Tkkg1994. Find it in TWRP thread on August 10th. Read his post carefully and thank the guy.

Hello all, when I updated my shield k1 to v5.0 I ran across a problem. First, when i first updated the system did not recognize my adopted storage(128gb sandisk micro sd) and I had to reformat it as internal. after that, I had to reflash TWRP and SuperSU. After that, I can no longer access my data from within twrp and receive a message along the lines of "unable to mound decrypted storage device" this is a big problem because I can only flash things if i move them to a usb or the root folder of my device. I have done some searching on the internet but have not been able to find any solutions. If anyone else is having or had this problem, it would be great to know how to fix it. Thanks for the help ahead of time. I would be happy to provide any additional information needed or wanted to assist with this problem.
I'm having the same issue on the original Nvidia Shield Tablet.
you encrypted your internal sd?
and it is not "default_password"?
if you have another SD card try it with it.
what you want to do. If there are no data you will backup you can try to format (not wipe) data and boot Android again.
reboot to TWRP and try again if it will mount.
But here are a TWRP thread where you could ask these questions.
I dont know what happened here but I had the same thing. If anyone comes here via Google or Search, flashing this TWRP Version fixed my issue https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71877863&postcount=427
I dont know what exactly is happening but the Stock Recovery cant mount the Card either. I can only assume it is a Bug somehow?

Good catch! I was running TWRP 3.1.1.0 and it wouldn't detect my adopted storage at all. I test booted the twrp you linked (fastboot boot recovery.img) and it worked fine, even though it's an older version of TWRP. So then I went ahead and flash it. Thanks!
Hello there,
I was in the middle of installing recovery, root and a custom ROM on my SM-T210 (Galaxy Tab 3 7"), when the title happened. I don't think the issue is device related though, so that's why I'm posting here.
I have StockRom Kitkat Version 1.7 (not the stock rom, that's just what it's called) installed at the moment, but I didn't like it so I wanted to go for Supernova (2.1) and flash that. This would've worked if TWRP didn't suddenly stop being able to see my files in internal storage...
My device isn't encrypted so that's not the issue. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
Hello,
Make sure you are mounting system and data
Make sure zip files type is selected and not IMG files
Try moving to SD card and try to see if it's there if you have one
Reflash twrp -make sure it's the latest twrp-
Then boot into it, flash rom

Thank you very much sir, using an SD card did it for me! TWRP was already the newest one I could use so that wasn't an option, the other 2 tips I also already tried.
Hi all,
I have a problem with decryption of the data partion within TWRP. The password (PIN or pattern) for decryption within TWRP that I set up within Android is not recognized as correct. However, decryption within Android works fine.
After fresh install of latest Sony build 41.3.A.2.75 (F8331_Telekom.de DE_1305-4974_41.3.A.2.75_R2E) that I downloaded with XperiFirm V5.3.6, I created a .ftf file that I flashed with latest FlashTool V0.9.24.4.
Then I tried to flashed different versions of TWRP (3.1.1-0 and 3.2.1-0) via fastboot, boot into Oreo and set up the encryption. Booting again into TWRP and decryption is not working. No matter what kind of password method I choose or even rotating an easy password pattern (+90°,-90°,180°).
My final goal is to use the eXistenZ Oreo v3.0.0 F8331 patch.
Does anyone have the same issue? Or, where is the bug?
Thanks for help!
Dan

What do you mean with not compatible? TWRP is working fine without device encryption on my Xperia, just decryption of data partition within TWRP does not work.
Right now I am installing apps and configuring them. When I am done with all, I will make a final last backup within TWRP and finally enable device encryption at the end.
With the result, that I have no read/write access to my data partition, but at least my device is encrypted, which is more important to me than having the access to the data partition within TWRP.
I was reading in another XDA forum of another device, that some have the same problem with Android Oreo and TWRP.
So, can someone confirm this bug? Or have a solution for this? I am guessing that the latest version of TWRP have a general problem with decryption on some devices.
I wanted to update my rooted Android Nougat to Oreo and also go from SuperSU to Magisk. During that process I discovered that TWRP recovery couldn't mount my internal storage.
I quickly saw on a lot of sites that it's a well-known issue, and I solved it by converting from ext4 to ext2 and back again. Now my phone is running perfect. All apps are installed, data and settings are restored with Titanium and root with Magisk is working fine. But then I remembered about the issue with TWRP and booted into recovery - just to discover the problem is back again. I can't mount my internal storage. So I can't flash zip files, I can't do a backup etc.
When I search xda or the web in general, I can't figure out why the problem has occured again. Also I can't find out how to fix it without losing all my data. Can anybody answer these two questions? Why is this happening again and how do I permanently fix it? And can it be with all my data on my phone - because I'm not able to do a backup.

The problem occurs when you use a ROM which encrypts the software or the ROM your flashing has an encrypted kernal. The only way out is to flash a ROM which doesn't encrypt. It is a known problem with TWRP and we have to wait for the TWRP team to update TWRP to handle quota allocation.
It seems the problem is solved for me. I flashed the TWRP version from this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77296102&postcount=1243
First I tried from Odin but it didn't work. Then I installed the TWRP app from Google Play and flashed the other file, rebooted to recovery, and it seems to work. I can mount my internal storage, make a backup etc. So this is the solution for me.
I had also similar problem of internal storage 0mb and i was not be able to mount my data
so when i flash color recovery by nobody
It's gone because it's allready patch by him
I think it's issue of encrypt data so just flash this recovery from nobody post

same problem, have you found solution ? please help me
TWRP sometimes can't mount the storage, the storage is encrypted, but don't worry. You can still flash your files and rewrite system partion. But in order to show the Storage, you have to use a different version of TWRP. Why am I saying this is mentioned following:
I installed the latest version of twrp, It didn't ask for any password patter to decrypt my storage. So , different XDA posts made me understand that , formatting everything, factory reset will decrypt my storage. And trust me, I have done it several time, several times my brother but it didn't decrypt my storage. I couldn't backup my ROM and without backing up my ROM, I didn't take the risk of flashing new ROM. I waited. This twrp couldn't even mount my system partion. So I seeked knowledge from different person. It took a lot of effort.
Then I learned that, I should change this version of TWRP. I changed to an older version and it didn't decrypt my internal storage after formatting, but it mounted my system partion. Since, it couldn't decrypt my internal storage, I couldn't take backup of my rom and save it to internal storage. so I inserted a pendrive in my phone, and saved the backup of my rom there.
Permanent Solution
Flashing DM Verity Force Encryption Disabler will decrypt your storage instantly. But in my case, it aroused another problem, None of the security measures of my phone worked afterwards. FOD, pin, password, pattern none of them worked. I don't know the reason but I don't suggest it with my little knowledge. but almost every rom flasher use them, so I thing I have to study about them to know how they work.
second and best option: start trying older version of TWRP, the good one will be the one to ask the password the recovery in the beginning. It will decrypt your internal storage.
I was brief here, if anyone doesn't understand these things, let me know, I will explain them step by step because I know the pain of being NEWB.
Hey guys just want to know if there's a way to avoid samsung encrypting the internal storage. I know there's the no-verity-opt-encrypt but I read even if I flash that and proceed to root with magisk the internal storage will be encrypted anyways. I'd like to have it encryption free with magisk without having to go for a custom rom. Is that possible?

You cannot i'm afraid it's part of the stock image, the applicable files are weaved throughout the stock firmware, no one has been able to break Samsungs encryption on a stock image or turn it off.
Wiping internal storage is the only way to get rid of it, Hence the TWRP method of wiping internal storage then flashing a custom Rom.
Yeah last time I formated data, got magisk installed right away. But of course months later I want to install some module and get the can't mount data error. So that means i'd have to "format data" on twrp and get magisk and the module installed before the first boot, right?

Possibly but if i remember correctly there's a modified version of TWRP which can handle the encrypted internal storage they way you want.

Tried to install that one but yeah still can't mount data. Edit: Well not sure if it was the twrp change or so but now managed to be able to install the module but from magisk itself. Thanks!
