This. I like Xiaomi's phones but live in a country where there are not too many options for a budget and not convinced with the Redmi 4A (my only option here besides Mi 4C and Mi 4). I tried buying a Moto G4 plus, stretching my budget a bit, but got the luck of the ghost touch issue which is annoying since it appears randomly and not only while charging. I wouldn't be convinced of the hardware even if I send it to warranty anymore.
So I found this Mi 4C (2 GB RAM) is strong phone for what I can see, I'm kind of a tinkerer and afraid of fingerprint readers, as soon as I'm convinced with the hardware I'm prepared to install custom ROMs.
Thanks for your advice and experience in advance.
I would aim for Redmi 4 prime with snap 625 instead if you can find one with decent price.
Letv LeEco Le 2 X520 is selling for 117.59 USD at TomTop. I would get that one.
To get a 2015 spec flagship for $100 that comes with Nougat sounds like a deal to me.
I don't know about 2GB version's performance, but I have the 3GB version because I have experienced of how 2GB performs. I also happen to have Mi4 (2GB). They are powered by snapdragon 8xx series. I think both are good value and performance devices, even in 2017.
I'm don't play games at all on smartphone. I'm just using it for productivity needs, business and other internet stuffs, and it works quite well and fast for multitasking like switching apps, back and forward, and so on.
The downsides for me are no official global firmware (but no worry, I can't stand MIUI though) and both has 5 inch display which is compact but it's a pain when it comes to spreadsheet..
I recommend Mi4c (4g). The cpu of 808 still works like a charm in the present day.
The prices are down as low as it go.
Hey Guys, i love the mate 8 - even when the software is not the best....
This Phone is on my side now for 2 Years - the battery isnt the best anymore - and im a dude who wants a new phone after 2-3 years...
But now - i have a problem and i guess some of you have the same one...
The Mate 8 has a PERFECT size! i love this phone because of his demensions. (157,1 x 80,6 x 7,9 mm)
it could be even larger for me on the 157mm side so maybe 170,175 maybe. But its great how it is.
So since i have decided to go with a new phone - i buyd some new phones in my search for the perfect replacment - they had all one in common. SIZE!
they are all on the 75mm - 74mm size.
What brings me to the next point: Mate 10... i preorded this beauty and today i canceld it. Its demension are the same like the phones i had buyd.
THIS IS ****ING small compared to the mate 8 ( i dont talk about screensize)
I have kinda big hands and i love to type with both. The mate 8 was the perfect phone.
So if someone knows a phone a new phone with great specs and framless display - please mentention it here.
One phone i really liked what i orded was the Mi mix 2. Looks great! Camera is **** but i dont care about camera - but the demensions was like every else phone - 6mm to small.
Cheers guys

ha i was thinking the same thing these past few weeks. im gonna keep my mate 8 for a while longer, but im already starting to look out for a potential successor. the candidates i came up with:
- samsung note 8: nice design and size, but battery is WAY too small (smaller than S8+!), so battery life isnt what i want. plus, its samsung...
- mi mix 2: the mi mix 1 was gorgeous, especially cuz of its huge screen, small bezels and large battery! so WHY in gods name did they make it SMALLER now, both in screen size AND battery capacity? no option for me...
- mate 10: so far the best high-end option, but the mate 10 regular only feels like a "side-grade" with 4gb ram, whereas the mate 10 pro looks awesome, BUT: 18:9 screen ratio means 6" screen is actually smaller than mate 8 6" screen at 16:9 ratio. also, NO sd card! and NO HEADPHONE JACK! wtf?! big no gos, especially at that price range...
soooo i said to myself: whats really important to me? big screen definitely, also big battery for longlasting experience. do i need a monster gpu? nope, i dont play games on my phone. what about cpu? always nice to have a fast one, but hey: i have kept the kirin 950 in my mate 8 on powersave governor since i got it, so...how much cpu performance do i REALLY need in everyday operation?
so i checked a different/lower hardware range, but put more focus on large screen and large battery!
what i found was: the xiaomi mi max 2
- 6.44 inch screen at 16:9 ratio - gargantuan! and at FullHD totally acceptable for my purposes (i dont tend to watch my phone screen from 1cm away just to see if i can actually see the pixels, so dont come arguing that 2k is "better", cuz its not!)
- 5300 mAh battery (yep youre reading correctly!)
- headphone jack + hybrid sdcard slot for optional dual sim (like mate 8)
- comes with snapdragon 625 (i know, its "only" midrange, but octacore and is VERY energy efficient, so even better for battery life!)
- fingerprint reader and actually a nice design (at least the black versions, i hate golden phones *ugh*)
the best thing about it is the price: it comes in 64 and 128gb flavour priced at 240 and 280€, respectively.
so yeah, if i were to get a new phone right now, it would most likely be that humongous mi max 2 beast otherwise, wait for upcoming highend phones next year...
just my 2 cents
cheers!

yes that combo would be awesome @mi mix 2 with size of mi max 2
of course, when u have then side by side ure way too distracted by the design of the mi mix 2 to bother with the mi max 2 so have u tried the mi max 2 or just checked it out in the shop? whats your feedback on it?

i buyd the mi mix 2 & the mi max 2. The mi mix 2 got my wife the mi max 2 got a friend of us.
There are a few personal things i dont like about the max:
hardbuttons
big cornerbars (top & down) - espascilly with the mi mix 2 right by his side.
camera is ****ty (i dont care about that - but even the mi mix 2 was better)
what to consider: THIS IS A 200€ smartphone! so its still a great choice - but nothing against the the mi mix or mate 8!
Oh and both had MIUI 8.0... and okey i had to flash with the global rom to get the german version but even there sometimes you get some chinese.
btw. i just saw today that the Mate10 LITE has a SD-Card slot.... SAY WHAT?... i dont understand how they can remove the feature in the pro version....

not only that, but the mate 10 (not pro, not lite, regular mate 10, not available in germany) also has both an sd card slot and a headphone jack
concerning the rest:
- i dont mind hard buttons, because this means more space on the actual display
- sure, compared to the mi mix 2 even the mate 8 has huge bezels
- dont care about camera
- as for MIUI: xda section for the mi max 2 already has a fully functioning lineage rom, so no need to stick to miui
and yes, all that for less than 300€ is just impressive

wait, what? u got a mate 10 pro in warranty exchange for your mate 8? what the heck kinda deal is that?! hahaha in that case i wouldnt have looked a gift horse in his mouth either
i absolutely LOVE the mi max 2! ive been running lineage os 14.1 custom rom since day one on it and super happy with it. on average, i get around 3 days runtime with approximately 18.5 hours SOT (yep, this is NOT a typo, its correct! ) display is huge and vibrant, love the colors and the feel of it. plus, ive gotten used to the size of this phone pretty fast, so no problem on that front
the mi max 3 is supposed to be even MORE awesome, with 7 inch 18:9 display (to counteract the smaller display area due to the 18:9 display ratio compared to the 16:9 6.44 inch mi max 2 i guess), add to that 5500 mAh battery and more performance via updated SOC and it should be something to keep an eye out for, especially for mate 8 fans
1. I have recently bought remi note 7 pro(6gb and64gb) but I am over thinking that I should have bought Vivo u20 at 11000 rs .
2. Am I right or I am over thinking.
3. I have to use the phone for at least 4 years Or
4 .should i have bought another phone that I have not thought about.

1. In comparison between the Note 7 Ro and Vivo U20, RN7 Pro has a clean win.
Here are some cons of the U20:
i) Lack of USB Type C port
ii) Plastic Backside (RN7 Pro has Gorilla Glass 5)
iii) Lack of 48MP sensor
iv) Lack of community support (You can never get as much community support as a RN7 Pro)
And all this at a price difference of ₹1000 ($14)?
2. Well, even now the phone's on the road to being outdated by its own successors within 6-8 months. This would occur to every device you buy, unless it's a high end flagship. At this range even the Note 8 Pro gives you better specs. The hardware is quite good tho, even though it might become out-dated, it's capable of running almost any task... The community support is amazing as well. Check out the ROM section and you'd be surprised to find the vast number of ROM's available.
This question has been asked here before, but apparently not recently. With the upcoming demise of 3G CDMA on Verizon, it's time for me to start looking for a replacement for my old reliable Samsung Note 3. AFAICT, there are currently a few choices for stylus phones (as of 5/3/20):
Samsung Note 10
Huawei Mate 20 X
Motorola Moto G Stylus
LG Stylo 5
Infinix Note 6
(Did I miss any?)
I'm looking for the one that best matches the features the Note 3 gave me: super bright screen, fast, external SD card, 3.5 mm. audio jack, USB MHA, wireless charging, replaceable battery, and most importantly, it must be reliably rootable and have decent support on XDA.
I figure I won't be able to get all of these, but the stylus and root are a must. I'm willing to ditch Verizon (after 20 years of their BS) if that helps rooting.
Any recommendations?
<deleted>
OK so I guess there's not much interest in stylus phones but for the record this is what I ended up doing. It might be useful to someone.
The Infinix Note 6 had the best overall specs and features but is apparently only available in some third world countries. The Note 10 lacks an audio jack, external SD, and removable battery and it's crazy expensive. The LG Stylo 5 has the same RAM/mem as the Note 3 (3/32) but only an 8x1.8 GHz. processor. All of them have IPS screens, not OLED. In short, none of them had everything I have in the Note 3.
So I ended up getting a super-cheap ($80) Motorola Moto e6 from Consumer Cellular to use just as a phone and I'll keep the Note 3 to use for everything else.
But then I was pleasantly surprised to find that the screen of the e6 is just as bright as the Note 3, it has an audio jack, external SD up to 256 GB, and a removable battery. Its GPS locks in much faster than the Note 3. And the UI feels just as snappy as the Note 3 despite a slower (8x1.4 GHz) processor. So maybe it's good for more than just a phone. Go figure.
Hi so i was going through mi 9t threads and display refresh rate overclock is possible on mi 9t . Since mi 9t also have snapdragon 730, I was wondering if its possible to overclock mi note 10 lite display?
I own mi note 10 lite global.
It's most likely possible, but this phone is dead for mods developers
Mi Note 10 series has different display manufacture from mi 9 series.
It is made by Visionox while overclockable displays are by SAMSUNG.
you should buy a different phone if you really NEED more than 60hz.
i'd never need more than 60hz on a phone. (144hz PC user here)
Please never try to overclock a phone's display. It has a reason that tucana/toco only have 60hz. A green display, ghost touch or glitches may be the result of.
Yes right I used to tinker with my hardwares capabilities back then as well so I do understand. But I also have learnt that it's just not worth the possible damage, issues and higher battery drain.
But then I also don't play Andy games on my smartphone as well, so what do I know
