So, yesterday I got in my car and it wouldn't start, the battery was flat.
I fitted a new battery as the other one was the original and I figured it was due a change anyway.
When I got in and started the car this morning, my MTCE unit immediately came on as though from sleep and not shut down. It didn't need to boot like it normally does. So, I checked in settings and it is still set to shut down after 30 seconds of ignition off. So I powered it off, waited two minutes and put it back on, it came on immediately. So it looks like it isn't shutting down as it's supposed to although when I pull the ignition key out the unit waits a few seconds and then says shutting down before the screen goes off.
Is it worth me trying a full factory reset and see if it solves it? I'd rather not but don't want this to continue in case that is what was draining the battery yesterday. It has always shut down and booted normally until then.
What version of Android is it running and is it wired up correctly. A few of them had the red and yellow wires revered on the unit.

It's on Malaysk ROM and is definitely wired correctly as it was working for two years until yesterday. I see there is a later MCU for me so may try that later
I updated the MCU and it shuts down correctly now. Only annoying thing was the device did a factory reset at the same time, never had that happen with an MCU update before. Doesn't matter, will spend some time end of this week reinstalling my apps and stuff.

So I've had my 16gb Tablet for a few days. Upon first power up, I ran through all the updates, including 5.0. When all the updates were done, I did a complete reset of the system to get Lollipop nice and fresh.
I've noticed that a few days ago, I left the tablet on my nightstand at about 50%, the next afternoon it was completely dead. I didn't think much of it, thinking maybe a program went crazy and sucked it dry. It happens.
Yesterday I left it on my bed at 64%, a few hours later I went to use it and it was powered off. At least I thought it was powered off. I'm noticing this unit might have bad buttons, as they are really squishy and don't have a lot of feedback for the up volume and power. So after pressing the crap out of the power button, it seemed to power back up. It greeted me to showing about 60% battery. Ok, that was weird, but not the end of the world. I plug it in to charge to 1005%.
Last night, I unplugged it at 100% and left it on my computer desk. Just now (next morning) I went to flip open the cover and it wouldn't turn on. I try hitting power and nothing. I hold the power down for about 20 seconds and it finally powers on. It boots up to 48% battery. Now keep in mind that I didn't do anything to it last night when I unplugged it. As a matter of fact, I didn't open apps, but I made sure I swiped all open cards away so nothing was running.
Sorry for the long post, but I want all the details here.
A couple questions:
Anyone else having random sleep issues where it won't wake up? I thought a lot was resolved going to lollipop?
Anyone have issues with soft sloppy buttons with no travel or click on the side? This is my second unit and I thought the first one had better buttons..
I'm having the same issue. Once it goes to sleep, sometimes it randomly just shuts down on its own. When I leave it on overnight, it's almost guaranteed to be off in the morning. Since I've come to work today, it's already automatically shut down twice. What the heck is going on?

Are you sure that the auto shutdown feature is disabled?

It was the first thing I checked, and yes, it's disabled. I did a reset of my device yesterday and I've only had one random shutdown thus far. Not ideal, but still an improvement....
You need RMA, Please read this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56907689
Same story for me, tablet was defective, battery drain even in airplane mode with no application installed. If your tablet do this, don't lose time and change it.
I've just purchased one and it's happening exactly the same, it happens constantly, also the battery drain is considerable.
I'm in Lollipop, and I've already done a coupe of factory reset.
Does anyone know if this can be repaired somehow? Or I'll have to return it...
Thanks!

Never requested a RMA to NVIDIA, are they fast? I've bought the tablet in Amazon, I have doubts yo who should I request it.
Thanks
So you should request amazon, unless Nvidia offer you a direct replacement in their forums.
Quick question. Does everyone here experiencing shutdowns have a case with an auto wake/sleep feature?
I too have this issue. Auto off is disabled.
I tried going back to gingerbread and the power issue is non-existent. Once I do all the updates to Lollipop the issue returns. Think it's an issue with the rom, since gingerbread works flawlessly.
I have both a skin and one with auto wake and my k1 has been shutting down on its own even with just tye skin on it.
So, I have had my shield tablet for about a month now and people have said the tablet has random power off issues. I never noticed this, but around 3 days ago my device started acting slightly wierd with it being slightly slower than usual. Then, when I checked my device about 3-4 hours later. It was off, I powered it on and then it instantly shut off. I turn it on again hoping to see its chrage level and I did and it was at 68%. So I reset it using my cwm recovery and for about 15 minutes it was fine, then it shuts down again and does the same thing. So today I reset it using the imgs from nvidia and it works fine. So I go and update to 4.4.1, still work. Update to 5 and it just breaks again.
Same issue
Have you found a fix? I'm having the same problem.
No, and to top it off it started doing this with 4.4, it just takes significantly longer
Custom roms work for me. Not sure how long they will last.
I had the Nexus 5 since launch and its been working fantastically well until it suddenly shuts down by it self in the last couple of days now
As soon i start the camera app, snapchat, watch you tube or listen music (with screen off). The phone goes blank, shuts down and refuses to boot back unless i plug in the mains usb cable which is absurd as the battery was around 60% and clearly there was enough power left. Strangely the phone forgets all my saved wifi passwords and have to connect manually each time the phone shuts down.
I have tried all assortment of troubleshooting methods such as upgrading and downgrading from KitKat to Lollipop , cleared the cache and running though safe mode and calibrating the battery but the problem stills persists
I did replace the screen back in November 2014 and it was work fine until this week.
I have opened the back casing and checked for anything that might be loose but i cant see anything wrong with the components.
I believe the battery is failing and want to know if i can resolve it from any other methods i haven't tried yet. I will be ordering new battery for nexus 5 and see if it solves the problem.
You might have punctured the battery when removing it when replacing the screen
I purchased my Google Pixel (first generation, regular (ie: not XL)) about a year and a half. It's been rooted for most of that time and I recently updated to Pie. When I woke up this morning I found that the phone had restarted on it's own. After a few minutes I noticed that it was running slowly and, eventually, to the point of non-responsive. I forced the phone off (held the power button until it turned off) and turned it back on. It seemed to load okay, but a few minutes later the phone was off again (which it did on it's own) and I cannot turn it back on. Holding the power button doesn't do anything and plugging it into be charged doesn't show any indications that the phone is charging. I haven't installed anything in at least a week and until this morning I didn't notice any problems with the phone. Any thoughts as to how to get the phone back on and what the problem might be?

See if you still can get your phone into download, fastboot or recovery mode. Here you can see the button combos: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YFaq4g-oa2Q
If you can get to recovery mode, click on wipe cache and reboot. If your phone still is stuck afterwards, go to recovery again. There is an option to wipe and reset the phone. Note that your data will be lost!!! Do it at your own risk. But a reset often is the last working choice when your phone behaves strangely.
If you get none of the three mentioned modes to work, I think your Pixel has a hardware fault.
Hope this helps.
check the charging port first....whether it is charging or not......try to connect to PC
i guess the phone is not charging
So the bottom line is this is still somewhat ongoing, though I’ve confirmed the phone is definitely bricked. I brought it into UBreakIFix and after taking it apart (noting that the device seemed physically in great shape) that there wasn’t anything obviously wrong with any of the particular hardware (they mentioned that replacing the motherboard would likely do it, but it would be about as expensive and effective as buying a new phone anyway...).
I ended up writing back to Google and am in back and forth talks with them now. I’m not sure what they can or will do, but my final answer will have to be getting a new phone one way or the other.
Hi, I bought the International unit (Malaysia certified) on December, 2019.
Today marked 2nd time (yes, actually there was first time; last week) that this unit suddenly just blackout by itself during use and never able to turn on again.
I tried to hold the power button for several minutes and also charge it and try to turn it on, I think that's the only steps I can think of try to turn it on, but to no avail.
If I just let it charge, it actually didn't take in any charges cause I have a cable that can tell if the unit is taking in any electricity (LED in blue if nothing charges, orange if the unit is charging). So, this phone is now (in this writing) behaving weirdly and it just flashes the Red battery circle (every 15 seconds or so) and the cable's LED turned to orange for just a second before become blue again, so I don't know what's going on for my unit.
FYI, I was using this phone just regularly WhatsApp (last week) when it suddenly blackout (that was like 90% battery left), I thought it was just the usual screen timed out, and to my surprise, I was unable to turn it on using the power button on several tries. Now, it was on Bluetooth playing music when it just suddenly turned off (I believe it was 70% issh battery left).
I am a bit dumbfound to find this happen to flagship phone? Does anyone have such experience?
Please enlighten me before I try to turn it on again and trying to salvage any data inside before sending for warranty (or force them to change a new one).
Thank you all for your time reading and effort for replying this.
I would contact a Huawei service center straight away, sounds like a genuine fault with the battery connection inside.
