RROS 6.2.0 No Camera App - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

Hey all. So I read about a camera ported from p20 pro for Kirin 659. Since 655 is similar I decided to give it a shot. After flashing via Magisk it didn't work. Also I didn't have any of my other modules. So I uninstalled and no camera. Reinstalled and same. After several things the end result is that I don't have stock camera. I would really like the p20 cmaera so I don't know what I am doing ROM. Anyway I plan to reflash entire Firmware when beta 4 for RROS comes out so I hope I don't lose camera. As of now I have RROS ROM without stock app and now would like to install the p20 port. Any help is nice. Thanks!!

ordered Samsung s7 Exynos version[SHALL I INSTALL CUSTOM ROM]

Hello,
I got a real good deal on the samsung s7 so i took it.
My question to you is, shall is stick to stock os or install a custom rom?
the reason i ask this is cause i was using a redmi note 4 and the custom firmware is kinda buggy, i need to reboot once a while. its running on 8.1.
it has LTE issues, Keyboard issues, apps crash randomly, slows down once a while.
Also, if i root it and install 8.1 on my samsung will the camera quality go down? i have heard this is true? can someone please correct me.
Honestly i want a stable experiance with a good camera, thats all.
Please advice.
Stable & Full camera quality, stick to stock
You need a TouchWiz ROM with stock camera app to get 100% camera quality
Custom ROMs are much more likely to be unstable than stock, but I haven't tried any

I've run a variety of Custom AOSP / AOKP Roms on my S7 - Nougat and Oreo 8.1 - After the latest Samsung Firmware update - I figured that I'd run Stock Rooted for a while - Stock is Definitely more stable than any of the AOSP /AOKP Custom Roms and the Camera is one thing that is constantly being complained about on AOSP / AOKP Roms.... That being said - If you like the idea of Running a Custom Rom & are prepared for some bugs - They can certainly be used as a Daily Driver ??

Hey thanks for the reply guys!
i thought maybe since the device is old someone might have ported a stock quality like camera.
its easy for me to say i guess! im sure its tough. well, i guess i'll install the pixel rootless launcher and keep using this beast! im not much of a heavy user its just whatsapp and instagram chats mostly.
though i'll miss android 8.1. but stability is worth it!
i was thinking how about i install a 8.1 rom+ google camera[ is it stable and better than stock now?]

Nope. If you want camera performance and overall stability, go with touchwiz. 8.1 aosp is in beta rn
Great, I shall wait for a while then
Thank you guys!

Will it be easy to install custom ROMS on the P20 family?

Hi,
I've been using Nexus phones for years, and I'm thinking of buying a phone from the P20 family. I don't really like the version of Android that Huawei ships though, and I'd like to be able to install a stock ROM. I assume that this phone will have Treble support (since it shipped with Oreo) and that, because of that, it should be easy to install a custom ROM on it.
Is all of this correct? Will it be easy to install a custom ROM on these phones, or should I go for a different phone?
I'm also considering buying a P20 Lite tomorrow, how was custom ROMs development on P9 Lite and P10 Lite ?
Judging from the ROM development for the Mate 10 series and as it normally is for Huawei phones, it is not very likely that there will be that many ROMs specifically designed for the P20 phones.
However, installing Treble based ROMs should not be a problem at all. There are several such ROMs available, including AOSP, Lineage, Resurrection Remix, CarbonROM etc. The downsize is that these are often very generic ROMs and Huawei specific features may not be available. For example, third party camera apps often have inferior performance compared to the stock camera app. Sometimes these apps are ported over though.
Thanks for your answer!

So, we can take any Treble based ROM and installed it on any Treble enabled phone, and it will work? Don't specific phones need specific ROMs anymore?

Let's say I install an AOSP ROM and use Google Camera. Should I expect it to take bad pictures, or are you referring to something else when you say inferior performance?
Probably dumb questions, but I've been out of the ROM scene for years.

Yupp, that's pretty much the basic idea. Check out the following thread for more about project Treble.

The thing here is that the stock ROM may nevertheless contain vendor specific code which is not released and may have other proprietary conditions on it. The Google Camera may thus not return the same quality as the stock one. This has at least been the case for Huawei phones, although the stock camera app has been ported over (see the thread above).
I just unlocked the boot loader on my P20 Lite, now waiting patiently for a custom recovery
Custom ROMs are not very likely in Huawei devices
Hi all
Also been using Nexus for quite some time now, and bought a Huawei P20 lady week.
1. The camera is great
2. EMUI is not my cup of tea
My goal the coming weeks is to try to understand if it's likely to see a Treble ROM and if the camera app from EMUI/P20 can be ported.
Tldr; I want to keep the camera functionality but use stock android 8.x
Anyone find anything, please post
Peace ✌?

The camera app should be possible to port. It has been done in the past for both Kirin 960 and 970. Check this out for reference. In that thread the camera is based on the one from Mate 9 but in theory a newer one should be possible.

RN5 Global Vanilla Camera App

Hi Guys,
Let me just say beforehand that I did try and read threads with this topics this but I admit I'm a bit lost. I see that most camera apps for RN5 Global are for unofficial roms, but I'm still on vanilla version.
Is there any working camera app that work better than stock camera app? Even if it's not 100%. I know Arnova's for instance are great and I understand it doesn't work great.
For the kind soul that takes the time to reply, many thanks!
first of all, shouldn't this post be on discussion section?
now, what do you mean by vanilla? miui? its not vanilla. it's xiaomi's own custom made rom. they modified vanilla aosp same as other custom roms you see. here you should say you're on stock rom or miui rom.
and unofficial rom means? all other custom roms? like PE, AOSiP, AEX etc.? they are officially supported by their respective devs. and here you should say you're not on aosp based rom or custom roms.
and now for the camera part. stock miui camera is considered well enough and some say works better than gcam.
if you want gcam you can try different versions and see which works for you. as for now, arnova gcam is partially working and a dev is working on a fix magisk zip. that means you need root by magisk to apply that. that'll fix front cam issue that we're facing now.
and if you don't know, you need camera2api enabled for gcam to work. to enable this you need root. you can unroot after enabling this if you please so. and you'll be vanilla again
there's also nokia camera port

[REQUEST] Realme 5 pro stock camera port on custom rom

Hey guys, hope everyone's doing well I'm currently using pixel extended rom which is great but I'm unable to use my 48 mp camera slow motion and all the other goodies that came along with stock camera, Gcam can only help me in pictures and videos which i admit is the most use but sometimes i do need those extra goodies that were present in my stock camera. Can someone please port that camera for custom roms.
I hope someone responds to my request

Porting stock camera to custom rom is next to impossible as stated by one of the developers of the riceDroid custom rom! Either use GCAM which is almost stable and good to use or you can always go back to realme ui.

Apologies if I sound kinda dumb, but how do I get back to Realme UI, I'm currently on CorvusOS, and I have the same camera issue, can I just directly flash the ozip file in Orangefox or is there some other method to do it ?

I have actually read somewhere that there is a flashable file of RUI which you can flash through custom recovery and after flashing, it will remove your custom recovery and install RUI stock recovery and stock ROM. But I have no idea up to what extent it will work like will our bootloader be locked again or not. But there is a process to go back.

Question How to install native Photopraphy Pro on GSI ROM (PE+)?

Hi All,
I've been running GSI ROM (Pixel experience plus, A13) on my Xperia 5 III. All are working well except the camera. How can I reinstall the native Photography Pro app? I 've tried using ADB but get the error as attached
Thank you in advance
thanks for reply. However, what I am asking for is the native photography pro app from Xperia 5 III
For Gcam, I've tried many different versions but all of them are not fully compatible with this device.
Hi, Anyone bother to help here? I would like to keep using GSI Rom but I miss the Photography Pro stability.
Thanks
There's a thing called Xperiance Camera. It ports XZ2c's stock camera to any stock-based ROM. You can use the basics from it to make smth similar for X5III.
The quirk is, though, that you need to experiment by yourself. Playing with libs, trial and error and all that.
