Is there any problem with Magisk on Android 9.0 - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

I am running rooted 8.1 with magisk on my pixel 2. I am thinking to update to 9.0 (stock rom). Is there any problem that i should know when i root with magisk? Thank you.

No problems that i have noticed. I use viper, YouTube, adaway and other modules without any issues. Hopefully that helps answer your question.

Unofficial Xposed

Dunno where else to put this but so far none of the unofficial xposed solutions support the pixel phones because no one seems to want to work with the A/B file layout so if anyone here wants to pick up a project id greatly appreciate that one and i know ive seen a number of others asking for it in different magisk and unofficial xposed threads. Thanks for reading my post and potentially contributing to a fairly noble cause.
Unknown if this is a pixel success. Anyone who knows please do reply.

Doesn't support A/B partition layout yet. No version of xposed except magisk systemless will even flash and even then the magisk systemless xposed also doesn't seem to work right for pixel phones yet

The couple of xposed modules I tried seemed OK (Greenify, youtube adaway...). I just didnt like it because it seemed to break Facebook and Facebook Messenger Apps (caused constant crashes for some reason) and also broke SafetyNet too, which defeats the purpose of even using Magisk. But overall you're most likely correct the modules still need to be updated for Nougat.
Damn...and I was so thrilled when the Nougat version came out.
Guess I stick with rooted Oreo was thinking about reinstall nougat cause of framework but sounds like it's not that great for pixel

Yeah xposed was my main reason for rolling back but for me none of the modules were being read as properly activated. Its fine though because I have my custom ROM back since there aren't any for Oreo yet.
A thread at pixel xl is saying yes and no with various install methods
UPDATE: added pie controls from xposed to my pixel running RR ; )
Resolved: Systemless Xposed (SDK25) module in magisk now flashes and sticks without fail. Installing the modded Xposed provided in the module description allows the framework/app/modules to interface properly. With both the Systemless framework and the modded app all modules updated as of this month will work
If you haven't already replaced SuperSU with Magisk, do that.

I highly recommend switching to magisk at least until we get a proper non magisk Xposed and this is coming from someone who has used SuperSU their whole life

Switching to Magisk so Pokemon Go Works

Since Pokemon Go detects Xposed and SuperSU, it won't let me play on tablet.
How Can I switch my root to Magisk?
Not ever aware of Magisk for Note 10.1 .
If you search their is no mention .
That is mainly due to minimum requirments.
As you are asking presume you know what it is and what is required.
Magisk thread here .

It depends on what os version you have. if its above 5.0 it should be able to have magisk on your tablet. Im running linage os 14.1 on my tab with magisk and works 100%

is there a working xposed for MIUi 10 (8.0) ?

Hello. Anyone know if there is a working version of xposed for the latest MIUI yet?
I tried installing the latest version from the magisk repository and was rewarded with a bootloop Thankfully uninstalling magisk modules from twrp is possible, but there's an hour of my life i'm not getting back.
Searching a bit and only turned up an issue in rovo89s github project - https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/408 - so I assume the answer is "no".
search EdXposed here in XDA, its working perfectly....
I'm on a custom MIUI 10 ROM based on the xiaomi.eu ROM. I'm in 10.2.1.0 and Xposed works for me.
My combination: Magisk 18.1 + Xposed Installer 3.1.5 Magisk version + xposed-v90-sdk26-arm64-beta1.zip
I cannot guarantee if this will work for you, or if every module works. I use only xInsta and my phone is perfectly stable..
you can try the V90_beta2 version,my MIUI 10 work fine, but you need disable resource hook.

Snapchat bypass edxposed - getting stuck at boot animation (pie 9.0)

Has anyone been able to get this snapchat bypass version of edxposed working on their essential phone? I am currently on liquidremix rom (pie 9.0), I have tried both version 1.0.3 and 1.0.4, sandhook and yahfa, as well as the bootloop fix version, and all of them gets me stuck at boot animation.
https://github.com/Juxstin/EdXposed-SnapChat-Bypass/releases
Any help is appreciated. I really want to get snapchat working on my phone with edxposed.
Snapchat worked fine with edxposed (I think it was yahfa) on Pie for me, no "bypass" was needed. And this still holds true on Android 10 with Magisk + Edxposed.
Is the latest edxposed? You may need a custom magisk to start
The following is from the developer
---From Google Translation---
Notes: Since the above PR is not merged yet, to make those sepolicies present you have to use this build along with the customized Magisk build hosted here: https://github.com/solohsu/magisk_files.

not for me and quite a few other people in other threads. I get banned within a day or 2 with edxposed

Worth it to upgrade from Android 10 Sept 2020 to Android 11 right now or wait?

Or wait a couple of months for them to tweak it a bit?
I only run Magik and not Xposed, not that it matters!
I'm not rooted, but I've been running R since the first public ßeta.
It's been the smallest update so far in a long time for Android. Very little has changed, compared to previous major version upgrades.
If you can root (and from what I read i think you can with Magisk), make a full backup and try it.

I don't really know what you'd be waiting for. I don't think a non-rooted person would notice much in terms of drawbacks. Magisk modules level, there were some issues... but I think most things are getting worked out. Xposed technically works, but more than half of my modules broke in a way that probably won't be fixed for a while. I still feel like I'm at a net-negative in terms of phone features. A11 brought little and broke a lot of my QoL tweaks that used Xposed.
I make no claims about SafetyNet as I use no apps that even check it.
I think A11 has been released formally by google and most of issues have been fixed or addressed.
I used magisk and edxposed. That's not a problem for me(I used Edxposed for fingerface only). Regarding of safetynet issue, it also has solution to make it pass by magisk modules and kernel side.
Until now, I'm happy with A11.
I ended up doing a full wipe and upgrade to Android 11 Oct 2020.
I have Magisk running with the SQL Lite mods for Google Pay and obviously I have root so I'm basically back where I was on Android 10.
I hadn't use Xposed yet and I don't know if I will yet. I was using Viper Audio mod but I don't know if I noticed a major difference, mostly I just stream bluetooth in my SUV.
So far, so good.
I tried it and reverted back to 10 - as mentioned didn't gain much but broke a lot. Even in stock form I can't get videos to load a subtitle file because of storage permissions and what not. A tweaked out install of 10 is faaaar nicer imo so that's what I'm running, probably until a new phone comes out sadly.

can i ask how you upgraded to A11? Im on 10 rooted with magisk and keep hearing mixed messages on upgrading. And is it necessary to wipe? I really don't want to.
A11 is not too bad, but as others have said little things here and there that break. Like for me I listen to SiriusXM app on mobile and for some odd reason it will stop playing all of a sudden and close. It's like the aggressive memory management kills the app for no reason. I even have battery optimization turned off and still does it.
Thinking about moving back to A10 from August, not really much I have to have to stick with latest A11 updates.

Flash the factory image, but remove the -w in the flash-all file. Then in Magisk Manager switch tot he beta channel and patch the boot image with that. Flash it and you're done.

Ok so I shouldn't install it via the ota? I keep getting the pop up to update every day.
Does using Magisk to dl / install the OTA, then patch the non-live and newly flashed partition, then finally rebooting not work?
When I was rooted that was always the easiest way.
And based upon the post 2 above this one, Magisk now supports A11 without ẞeta, right?
