Cannot save MNC parameter for APN settings - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

My provider recently updated their APN credentials and I now have to enter them manually. The settings can be found here: https://support.vimla.se/articles/article/apn-instaellningar-oneplus
However I have spent well over 30 m trying to save these profiles and it seems impossible on Pie Stable. I have tried alter each field and save and it works up until I reach MNC. The default setting on my default apn profiles are 06. As you can see on my providers website, it should be changed to 08. When I change it to 08 and save the profile completely disappears from the list. Can I add a profile from adb or similarly?

APN settings won't save on 2.1 Telus Milestone, help please

Long story short here, I've got a Milestone I threw 2.0 Brazillian ROM on back before 2.1. Updated to 2.1 and for some reason when I try to enter the APN settings from Telus, it flat out won't save the APN.
I've tried calling Telus for the settings but the ones they give and the APN settings including the MMC port and servers are seemingly doing nothing, the only way I can get online with it is through WiFi. My current OS is a legitimate 2.1 Brazillian [only way I know is the language it installed on 2.1 was Portuguese].
Any ideas? If it means anything, the phone is unlocked but it's being used on Telus anyhow.
Try giving the apn a different name like telus1 and see if that works. Had a gent in my store with an N1 yesterday and he couldn't save his apn with the exact same settings as mine. Not sure what it was but when he saved it Roger's and had a dummy one saved as Rogers (using internet.com as apn with no other settings which works for internet but lacks mms functionality) it worked.
Let me know!!

This is a little late but it might help somebody else...
The reason why your APN is not saving is because you're changing the default values of MCC and MNC. If this is different to build value, your APN will disappear.
So, to save your APN, you need to use ADB to pull build.prop from system using the following command:
adb pull /system/build.prop
Once you've pulled build.prop to you offline location, change the value for "ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric" to something to match your MNC and MCC number. Combine the two to give you 6digits e.g. Telus is 302220.
Once this is done, do the following using ADB again.
adb remount
adb push build.prop /system/
That should fix your APN issue!!!
i pulled the file but i dont have that variable ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric
what to do now?
Hello guys,
I happen to have the very same issue with my APN, with a HTC Legend (2.2 rom, but I had this with 2.1 too). I can't change the MNC (which is set to 10 by default) to the correct value for my carrier : 01. I've spent hours trying to figure this out, and googling for an answer, but all I could find is "it is caused by the lecture of SIM's default MNC and you can't change it". Until I read your answer, which seemed at first glance to be the one, but I too didn't find the line "ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric", and after adding it manually, I was unable to push the file back onto the droid : "Directory not empty".
I'd consider you as a demi-god if you could help us out here
Sorry for my poor english btw

I'm with Koodo (Telus subsidiary) and It also has the 302220 MNC/MCC. I can use Go SMS to send MMS, but I cannot receive them for some reason. I've tried this fix, put in the apns but still no luck. ... one of the odd things though, is when I open the APN editor (Voice dial "Open A-P-Ns") it doesn't show any valid APNs, but the apn managers do.
Any ideas on how I can get my MMS functioning? Data works, just not MMs.
[-- Edit --]
I'm using the settings from Koodo's site : http://koodomobile.com/en/ab/non-koodo-phone-data-setup.shtml ; they're largely identical to Telus' except for the name of the APN and the inclusion of /koodo in the mmsc proxy.
Proxies 74.49.0.18 ; mms server http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/koodo/mmsc blah blah blah ..

this is probably because you are using a branded rom or the thrill that has a hardcoded APN, just set up a new one pressing the menu key and add new. Just verify under mobile settings that data is activated as well.

Download apn global from market and use that to install new apn settings, then you can toggle between them.

I have done that..nothing!!
If you have used that you should have two apn's showing which you can choose between as the app let's you install new ones.
The fact you have an E suggests your phone is finding your connection (e should mean it found an edge connection) but the fact you can't use it means your password or username are probably wrong or that you need to enable data traffic (on stock rom just press right side widget on notification screen).
Failing that a factory reset will sort it but is a last resort.

Thankful for ur reply,I activated the data traffic, and I can setup a new AP but the toggle that enables it is missing!I can't explain I will upload a screenshot to show you the case..in case nothing works out I will make a factory reset..
In the picture there is only one apn, you will only get the option to toggle when you have two or more to choose from as often phone's have one for data and one for mms.
If you reset phone you will lose all saved data so will need to back up anything important first.

I made a second one..no toggle still..crazy phone..
I have read that if one apn is a mms one it will not toggle only if there are two net ones. Otherwise I can't think of an answer.

the 2 are net APN..confused!
APN???? What problem could it be?
Helo guys,
i have a problema similar to this thread.
I can't access my internet.
I am Brazilian and i use TIM.
I bought an AT&T Unlocked Phone all it's ok, but the internet.
I called TIM and they told me they could not help to config the APN, and i can't understand it as they sell Optmius 3D here...
But ok...
I saw there is no APN configured.
And in the notification bar i have an H+ .
I try to enable the Data Transfer, but i can't access network connection...
People tell i have to have an E in the notification bar to have the network enabled, but when i set the network operator as TIM GSM it enables E for just some mintus and returns to H+
If i enable TIM UMTS nothing happens...the H+ is still there...
please, guys, tell me i can find a solution.....help me to get my facebook again... my emails working.... please...
If you use the apn global app it has settings preset for providers worldwide but as you cannot access internet via that way yet would need to go on net via wifi to download app from market.
The app will ask your countries name then install only apns for your area which should help.

guys, i got it working with this APN config
***IMPORTANT*** TIM Brasil has 3 MNCs (724 02, 724 03 and 724 04). So it's best to create all 6 APNs or you risk being without data or MMS if you travel.

APN EDIT
I feel your pain.
I had the same issue and took me over a day to sort it.
Section 1 --- First try take sim out of the phone, restart it and factory reset.
Power off and then take out battery, wait 20 seconds, install battery and restart.
Go to Access point names and list should be blank. If so hold down option key, enter new name apn, fill in details, hold option key and save.
Now power down, put sim back in and reboot. You should see the new entry and the two older ones with the radio button option on to select new one.
If not successful you may need to update your phone to latest software.
Section 2 ---Put phone on mass usb storage mode and search for folder called LGE.
Open it and browse to update folder and install pc suite onto your pc.
And also LG phone update tool.
Now with phone plugged in but with mass storage off run the usb drivers folder.
It will load usb drivers on your phone.
When successfully installed drivers, run the phone update tool.
Note if phone will not update or cant find model, you may need to tell the sw the imei number, select customer support from top task bar, and choose 3rd option down, Application, Manula and USB, enter the IMEI number and hit search, then install the items shown in the box below after app updates.
Lets know how it goes
Then repeat section 1

MMS Failing to Send / OnePlus APN Settings Grayed Out and Can't be Edited - Fix

This is one for the search engines since I couldn't find an answer for this out there for this so hopefully this helps someone else.
My MMS messages were suddenly failing to send. I took a look at my logcat and saw that for some reason even though the MMS service was pulling the correct MMSC from the profile, the OkHTTP API was failing to connect to localhost. My only guess is that apparently the MMSC http URL was sending an HTTP redirect to something that my device was resolving to localhost since I could connect to the MMSC with my web browser and ping it successfully by name with a terminal client without it resolving to 127.0.0.1 (localhost). I tried disabling my ad blocker since that's the only thing I could think of that could be causing a DNS resolve to 127.0.0.1, but that wasn't it.
I also knew that my MVNO had updated their MMSC and so I tried adding in a new APN with those settings, with the new MMSC entered both by name and by IP address (note: with OnePlus you always need to specify an MVNO type, in my case GID, for a custom APN to save). From the logcat, I saw that the MMS service was unbelievably still using the grayed out APN profile with the old MMSC, even after a reboot. I verified that my custom APN was in fact selected. I tried deleting the storage from several different phone services, as well as locating and deleting the custom APN file, to no avail.
Finally, I figure out what was going on. OnePlus has an evil APN locking file at:
/system/etc/apns-conf.xml
If an APN name on your SIM matches with an APN name in this file, then you are locked to that APN even if you have defined and selected a custom APN!
So, I made a backup copy of this file first, then I located the grayed out APN profile in this file (search by APN name), deleted it, and rebooted. Looking at the logcat though, I still saw that the phone was not using my custom APN profile!! It turned out that there was a second match for the APN name in this file. I deleted that as well, rebooted, and voila - no more grayed out APN in my APN settings that I'm locked to and can't edit. I verified in logcat that my phone was now using my custom APN profile and now my MMS are working again!
Hope this helps someone else!
Notes:
I'm using the last Oreo/ OxygenOS 5.1.11 for best xPosed support, but I did see on the OP forums that other people were having issues with their MMS and APN grayed out even with Pie on several different OP phones.
Yes, I have an older SIM from my MVNO, but not that old

SM-N9860 apn issues

So I made the mistake of buying the N9860 (wanted dual sim) and now I can't seem to make the apn settings work. On Verizon. It automatically fills in the apn setting. Everything works but for some reason all the mms I receive are downgraded to like 30kb and are pretty much unviewable if there's any text in the image. When I try to add an APN it just doesn't show up in the list. The APN that shows up automatically is wrong... MMSC and mms port are not filled out but it will let me add them. If I change the MCC or MNC setting to 310 and 012 or remove the MVNO setting that's filled in when it isn't supposed to be there the apn no longer shows up in the list until I use "reset to default." Is there no way of disabling the setting that makes it fill in the apn info by itself? I've tried to disable "Select automatically" under network operators but it won't let me do that either.

Change APN in Android Terminal with Root permissions

Hello,
I have succesfully made a script to Add APN Configuration to my Phone inside Terminal with Root permission. Actually I can change the default APN settings, but it take only action after Reboot.
Is it possible to enforce Reload APN Configuration without reboot?
I use my Phone as Internet Access Gateway connected to my Router a Raspberry Pi. I would like to change my outgoing IP-Address from my Mobile ISP if needed. The trick here is to add the very same APN Profile a second time and switch between them. With this trick I get another IP-Address in 2-3 Seocnds and without reboot.
I am able to change the Default APN but I was unable to Switch to another APN Profile without reboot.
I would very pleased if someone have an clever idea to change the APN Profile without Reboot.
Thank you very much!
NOT possible: settings are read-in at boot.
Thanks for your answer!
I made a macro that change the APN with the Userinterface it opens Settings -> Mobile Networks -> APN Accespoints and change the APN to the other and save the actual APN to a file. This action pattern changes the APN for me at the moment. it works, but I thaught about another possibility to not use Macros.
