Google Pay does not work on unrooted custom ROM anymore! - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

So, I just installed Google Pay and wanted to connect it with my PayPal account. Everything was going fine until I finished the setup - the app showed me a message saying "Setup for paying in stores could not be finished - This smartphone can not be used to pay with in stores. This can be due to your phone being rooted or changed otherwise."
I have a completely vanilla LineageOS 15.1 (latest build) installed. No Magisk or Xposed. So this might be because I installed a custom ROM.
I will keep this thread updated - I will try to install the latest build of LineageOS 16, then if it does not work, continue to flash the latest stock ROM.

Flashed LineageOS 16, got the same issue. Flashed stock ROM now and hopefully it will work.

Lineage builds for Samsung have that issue. They struggle to pass SafetyNet even if its not rooted. I'm running stock + Magisk and have Snapchat, Fortnite, Google Pay, and Pokemon Go all working no problem. Sac23's s9 port also has a good SafetyNet, just make sure to not use the Magisk included in the Aroma installer and use the latest zip

I've tried LineageOS 15 with Magisk. Google Pay works, but does not allow fingerprint use, only PIN/pattern. Same with WellsFargo app. It appears that something is incomplete or incorrect on the Samsung port of Lineage. Stock roms with Magisk do not have this issue.

So what's the best way to get android pay working? Just install Stock ROM and use Magisk to root?

ROM / Safetynet help

I'm currently running NanoRom on my S6 - but as it's pre rooted and running Magisk 12 it fails safetynet check.
I'm looking for a ROM that's running marshmallow but before march security update and one that passes safetynet.
Looking to be able to play Pokémon Go and be able to hide root but after ROM suggestions...
Thanks

Try this module, either flash through TWRP or add the module in magisk.
If you've added through magisk make sure to reboot phone.
Unfortunately not working...

Must be a Rom related issue then, I'm on odexlite Rom, magisk 12 and using the module I linked and I pass fine.
You can try at Beta version -> forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72797255&postcount=1890 (from "h1nnak" 's posts)

Youtube keeps stopping on RROS 6.1.0 kirin- official

I am running the beta 2 of RROS downloaded from the openkirin.net website. Every thing works fine and is smooth. However when I tried to go into settings in the YouTube app, the app stopped working. So I rebooted and tried again. Same result. Until now, this has been only happening in YouTube and in no other app (for now). Is there any fix for this or is this a bug? Thanks for your help.
Also a few other questions. How can I root this room like what TWRP and Magisk to use? If I want to change ROMs to LineageOS what should I do? What's the best custom kernel and how to install.
Edit. If there is an updated version of this build available how can I get that. Do I have to flash through TWRP? Because in the OTA update tab in customizations, it says can't check update. So far loving this ROM.
Also what's the main difference between LineageOS and RROS? Which one is better?
Reboot Twrp and try to clean cach or dalvikcach
Twro isn't compatible with open Kirin builds

First-time setup coming from OPO

Hello everyone,
I just received my OP6 coming from the OPO and while I have been flashing LOS (sultans), magisk, twrp and co since my S1+, recent years obviously changed a lot.
So before bricking stuff or getting into bootloops, I briefly want to confirm if I miss something or got the order wrong:
update the stock OOS to the latest version
unlock bootloader
flash twrp
flash magisk
get root access to backup modemst1 & 2
decide if I wanna to with OOS, OOS open beta or LOS (didnt check yet if it is available with PIE)
flash ROM & magisk
flash gcam?! (worth it?)
figure out how to enable VoLTE & VoWIFI
check if I can get my banking ups running with the backups from Titanium (I guess the architecture will case me problems here)
Anything else e.g. in regards to tremble that I should know about? Is a backup of the stock image worth it? (guess I can download one from here anyway)

1. Settings, system, systemupdate
2. Read the big guide
3. Same as above
4. Same as 2
5. Same as above
6. Omni is good, havoc is good... All depends on your usage, you have to try the roms and decide for yourself.
7. After each rom flash you must flash twrp, then reboot to twrp then gapps then magisk if you want to use custom roms. (A/B partitions, read that info in guide section)
8. You don't flash, you install an apk. Many people like it. Up to you if you will like it. Try, just an apk.
9. For me, they worked from first boot.
10. Probably not, Google has made improvements in security and that's why titanium stopped working on bank aps etc.

SafetyNet false all the time...

I've installed LineageOS 15.1 with Magisk 19.3 (tried 19.4 also) and my SafetyNet is all the time False. I even tried to install LineageOS 14.1 with Magisk 18 - it didn't work. I also flashed GApps (nano/pico versions). Any idea how to fix it? I already tried hiding Magisk and all typical stuff

EDIT: I've noticed that SafetyNet is true when I revoke all SU privilages... But I need them so it's not a solutions for me
Hi, I was facing the same problem. I am running an Android 9 ROM (crDroid), though, so I don't know if my solution will work for you. Anyway, what seems to have fixed this for me is flashing ROM and Gapps first, let the device boot fully and then flash Magisk on its own. If you want to avoid clean flashing the ROM etc. again, you could try unistalling Magisk by flashing the official uninstaller, reboot, then flash it anew. That also worked for me.
I used to get this erratic behavior from Magisk when dirty flashing ROM updates, so each time I uninstall it and re-install it. It's a bummer, but it works in the end... I haven't yet figured out if this "SafetyNet fail" is either ROM or Magisk related. I hope I helped!
My condition was android pie/custom rom, magisk 19.3 stable, selinux permissive, device uncertified in playstore, safetynet false cts and basic integrity.
How is your device certified or uncertified?
However,this was my fix.
In magisk hide i ticked all apps, even system's ones.
In settings/apps i deleted all cache/data of playstore and google play services.
I rebooted in twrp and i cleaned cache and dalvik cache.
I rebooted system.
I waited until my device was fully booted,it depends on your settings, apps etc.
Then i checked magisk, safetynet passed and in playstore my device was correctly recognized as certified.

Magisk flashing isn´t working with latest TWRP (v3.1.1-1)

I was trying to root several roms for hours! with latest TWRP version, no matter wich method I used, the result was always a non-rooted device.
After too much hours, I decided to go back to TWRP 3.1.1-0, and it rooted my phone at once (MIUI v11 Android 10.0).
SO, dont try to root anything with latest TWRP because it simply doesnt work to root.
(apparently wasnt working due to Multirom, I have to do some tests)
I hope this help some guy wich is going crazy trying to root Android 10 (or older).
Magisk 20.0 with twrp 3.3.1-1 worked perfectly fine for me. I did it on xiaomi.eu miui11 - android 10.

Hmmm... No way for me ?
Worked as always for me. Used the official version from the homepage and flashed magisk version 20 with it.
No problems so far, everything works fine. Safety net passes also.
Did you get any error messages when flashing?

No, the process ends without any error, but Magisk Mgr doesnt detects to be rooted.
Maybe was a multirom error (as primary rom) but have so do some tests .
