Hello Guys
Using a Lenovo K6 NOTE and 32GB SD Card (kingston) on it
Android OS 7.0 - (not rooted) the Official one
Went to > Settings >Storage Setting > Unmount SD Card (successfully Unmounted Safely to remove) so i removed it from the device.
Mounted it into a trash low budget Chinese phone (10$)
The phone Didn't recognize the card - removed and put it again many times and still nothing .
Mounted it back into the Lenovo DIDN'T RECOGNIZE IT TOO
Mounted it to PC The same (using 2 computers, 4 card readers and into the laptop's slot) and didn't recognize it yet
Mounted it to Nokia Xpressmusic 5130 and it asks for a password (i didn't put it btw)
I've tried the following methods :-
Tried a lots of passwords (after i trying a wrong password twice i wait at least 5 min to try another one)
Downloaded to the Nokia phone many file explorers for java phones(.jar) to search the mmscard file and i didn't find the system folder to find that file.
(On PC) when i try to enter some commands on the CMD window (ran as administrator) a several errors has been shown chkntfs /X D: Cannot query state of drive D: __ Fsutil dirty query D:Error: The parameter is incorrect __ chkdsk D:/f /offlinescanandfix
Cannot open volume for direct access. .
Tried too many programs to delete, format and partitioning and still not readable
I don't want the data on this sd card i want it to be readable again not anymore

By the way, I am using Transcend 16GB SDHC. Today, I found that my PPC can't detect it suddenly, I tried to insert it on my NB, but there are some files halt! When I double click it and wait for a moment, a messege box appear and say there are some problem about I/O device. No any device can detect my card now, anyone know what's the issue? I even can't format it now...
Please HELP!!
THANKS YOU VERY MUCH!
.menc files
.menc files are encrypted files.
When you set the option to encrypt files (Start\Settings\System\Encryption) then anything new that is saved to your SD card will be encrypted (and will have this extension - although this extension doesn't appear when viewing from the device that encrypted the files).
To read the file, you must view it via your device. (You can view/transfer it onto your PC via active sync from the device that encrypted it).
If you have reflashed your device without backing up your SD via active sync, then I don't think there is any way of recovering the file . (NB. I copy everything from my SD card to my computer before reflashing, and then copy it all back again ).
Hi my friend!
I had the same issue but with things 4.1 ROM. I don't know how, but i tried every day to format my sd card, and after 5 days it worked I have also this file in the root... It's the encryption file i think...
Mine was a 2GB panasonic SD not an SDHC... Keep trying!
Thanks for all reply!
But I found that I haven't tick the option of"Start\Setting\System\Encryption" , but the file still exist! I don't know why...
Any my SD issue....
I an using this ROM for few weeks already, but not newly flashed. My SD have no problem before. Haven't backup the datas is my mistake! I am so regreted. My SD is now can't detect from all device, and I can't format it also.
ALL DATAS ARE LOST!! Just wanna cry!
damaged sd-card!
Hi! Had the same problem with my new kaiser. Also thought about problem of ROM or the device itself. But it was just the SD-Card itself. Bougth a new one - no probs anymore...
any true solutions to this?
I have this same problem, so the only way to fix it is to get a new card?
Step By Step To Delete File EncFiltLog.menc (EFLG.m)
1) Insert your SD into Card Reader Cut EFLG.m
2) Paste insde your PC
3) Defrag your SD card
4) Select Option Tools>Folder Options>View Select Show hidden file
5) Now you can see new folder ie File 0000
6) Delete the folder
7) Now your SD card become as original
I read somewhere (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2718217&postcount=9) that the hidden file "EncFiltLog.menc" is stored on every SD-Card by WindowsMobile weather encryption is activated or not.
So it should be no problem to have it on the card - as long as everything works.
Yesterday, I dumped the whole internal memory of my phone into the SD Card by using the command:
#dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/storage/sdcard1/dump.img
Next day, when I rebooted the phone, I was greeted with the message "SD Card is damaged. Try reformatting it." When I pressed format, it showed "Erasing SD Card" and after sometime the message appeared again.
So, I brought out the SD Card and put into my computer (by inserting it into a dongle; as I don't have an adapter). Astonishingly, I could read all data of the SD Card, but couldn't write to it. Any file I place there, disappears after refreshing. When I tried to format the card, a window appeared saying "Windows cannot format this device".
So, I googled a bit about these and did the following things:
1. Used a third-party formatting software (SDFormatter by SD Association) : It says that the USB is write protected.
2. Checked the SD card for any physical write protection switch : There was none.
3. Ran the disk management by right clicking "My Computer" > Manage : It gives the same error that the disk cannot be formatted.
3. Tried to delete the volume and create a new simple volume from disk management : The "Delete Volume" button is not clickable
4. Used the diskpart utility to create a new partition by the command "CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY" : It does not work. It says that "No usable free extent could be found. It could be that ....." etc.
5. Tried to clear read-only mode by using "attributes disk clear readonly" from diskpart : Even after that the disk is not writable
6. Tried to use chkdsk from command prompt : It gives an error in the middle everytime saying that "/dump.img is a false link" and after that the disk becomes non-readable and chkdsk crashes, saying that the source files could not be read.
So, please help me. The card was not physically damaged in any way, so it must be possible to bring it back to its original state. Any help is appreciated.

Hi everybody,
I have a question about file system on external SD cards for an Android Smartphone. I searched already in the internet for a solution but I did not find anything what helped me.
Basically my problem is simple: I want to copy files from my Windows PC (Windows 7) to the external SD card of my Android Smartphone (Android 5). That is simple: connect the Smartphone with USB cable to the PC, then the Smartphone appears as device in Windows Explorer, so I can easily copy files. But when the files are larger than 4 GB, then it doesn't work, because the SD card is formatted with FAT32 file system, which does not support files > 4 GB. This is clear.
One option is to split large files into smaller files (e.g. using 7-zip), but for several reasons, that is not a usable way and I tried it, it doesn't always really work in a reliable way.
So I would like to copy files > 4 GB to my Smarphone and informed about different file systems and made some experiments (by plugging the SD card into the SD card slot of my Windows PC and formatting it). Here are the results:
- NTFS: Formatted: On Windows, using MiniTool Partition Wizard. Writable on Windows: yes. On the Smartphone: "SD card is blank or has unsupported file system."
- exFAT: Formatted: On Windows, using Windows Explorer. Writable on Windows: yes. On the Smartphone: "SD card is blank or has unsupported file system."
- ext2: Formatted: On Windows, using MiniTool Partition Wizard. Writable on Windows: no. Smartphone: Not tried, because not writable on Windows.
Then I installed an ext2 driver on Windows (Paragon ExtFS), but when I tried to read the SD card in my Smartphone again, it still did not work. It's hopeless. Seems that there is no file system which can easily be read/ written by Windows and Android and doesn't have the 4 GB file size limit.
Does anybody know which file systm is suitable for my needs?
Thanks a lot and with best regards,
Bernd
Good morning folks,
I'm hoping XDADevelopers can assist me with an issue I've brought onto myself past couple days. I'm praying something can be done to recover my files! :crying:
I have an Galaxy S8+, and I encrypted my phone using Android's encryption feature (with a 4 digit pin code), and for some reason it wouldn't allow me to decrypt it. The option remained as 'Encrypt SD Card' via Settings > Lock Screen & Security > Encrypt SD Card, but when you go into it, it said that it couldn't decrypt the device as it needs the same device used to encrypt the SD Card in the first place confused:what? It is the same phone!!!). Burning up the internet trying to find a solution, I came across several forums telling me to do some of the following:
- Change Screen Lock Type to 'None' then try again - Failed
- Backup contents of SD Card onto PC, format SD Card on phone, encrypt SD Card (using 4 digit pin code), copy contents from PC onto SD Card, then decrypt it - Failed
- Wait it out - Failed
- Enable Developer Settings (I always do for the record) and enable 'Stay Awake' / enable USB Debugging, then repeat option 2 - Failed
- Mount / Unmount, reboot, etc. - Failed
When it was encrypted without any files on it, the option was now Settings > Lock Screen & Security > "Decrypt SD Card", so it seemed like an initial error occurred that made the SD Card think it was encrypted from another device,
Now the only copy I have of my files are stored on PC with no way of accessing it :crying:
I haven't formatted the phone yet, and I'm very reluctant to do so in-case i cause further damage.
Right now I'm in a constant loop of trying option 2 in hopes that it suddenly worked and allows me to access the photos! it managed to work once, but couldn't let me open the files from QuickPic app.
My questions are:
Can I recover my files? (from my PC)
Is there a way of forcing the encryption and encrypted files (stored on PC) back ONTO the SD Card after having formatted it?
Is there an app (either on phone or PC), that can force me to enter the 4 digit pin code (which was my phone lock, along with fingerprint scanner).
I'd very much appreciate any time and response regarding this.
Many thanks!

Hi.
I understand that it is unlikely that I will already help the author of the topic. But maybe my situation will be useful to someone else. Faced the same problem as the author. My memory card started to fail. At first, the phone lost her, but was found again after sd card being remounted. Then after some time the phone lost it again and did not see it at all. In this case, my laptop saw the card. I found that the problem is in LOST.DIR. Now the phone began to see the card, but it gave an error that the card was encrypted on another phone ("this sd card cannot be decrypted because it was encrypted on another device") (maybe the problem is that I inserted another card to check if this is a problem with the phone’s hardware). I tried the steps described above and the error reappeared. I tried to format the card and copy only a part of the files from the image and came to the conclusion that the problem is in one bit file in the DCIM/Camera directory. The phone apparently tried to scan the gallery on boot. It received a decryption error and stopped decrypting the rest of the content and just said that the keys are not the same. As a result, with long attempts, I found a broken file and successfully restored all other files.
I can't edit, remove or format my new SD card.
after I bought a new SD card and moved my backup files from a PC, I connected it to my Sony Xperia Z5 (Android 7 (not rooted)
then a notification came asking to select if I want to set my new SD as internal or external storage and I ignored it.
and from that time it is not allowing me to do anything to it except reading it files (it doesn't even show photos in photos app (just show files in file manager)
anyway I tried formatting it through PC and it keep saying "device is write protected"
tried regedit and diskpart methods and nothing worked.
tried formatting it through other android device and still unable to format it.
any solution?
