hello guys, i'm just newbie in here i wanna ask u guy about change custom ROM does it affect our phone after we do it? and what 's a good think about it? could we switch back to original ROM ?
sorry my bad english

You need to open the bootloader so yeah it will affect the phone for sure. You should back back up your DRM keys brfore doing anything ( requires downgrade to Marshmallow).

Well if you back up the DRM keys you can return everything back to normal whenever you want.
Now let me explain what DRM does.Sony phones lose some functions when you unlock the bootloader, like X-reality, camera noise reduction and etc. But don't worry as the custom roms have DRM patches so everything works. Just back up your DRM keys before doing anything. Btw unlocked bootloader can't install over the air updates but that ok as XZ has reached end of its update cycle. Happy to help if you have any questions

Is it possible to fix lost drm keys on every custom rom?

All custom roms based on stock firmware have DRM fix. Not sure about asop roms.

There is nothing to fix in AOSP because there are no Sony's or other OEM's features.

Unlock Bootloader Cam bug pressent ?

Hi, when I Unlock my Bootloader is the Camera bug still pressent ? Blur effect or what ever ?.... Thanks
you will get noisy camera and stuffs.
It is not a bug as Sony made it that way to prevent us from messing/porting their features I think.
TL;DR It will not be the same as before you unlock. You can: 1. deal with it 2.there is a way to restore drm keys on stock based roms so you will get your original camera stuffs back.

nah, I mean this (fake drm keys).
But of course if you are going to unlock, TA backup is a must if you still want to get back to 'out of a box' state. If you lost the original keys, you lost it forever. :crying:

Hi! I'm using Android 6 Concept now, with unlocked bootloader, but the camera sucks! It's possible to "fake" the bionz and stay in this room? for a good quality camera again? or I NEED to go with the stock sony and blocked bootloader ? I made my Backup TA before unlocking

Hi,
I've never used that rom but maybe you can try it. I've tried on this rom, I believe it worked.
No proof but I don't see those pink noises so I was just assume it was working. Now i'm on RXSW rom.

Xperia XZ Nougat ROOT possible??

Is it possible to root the latest version of the sony Xperia XZ?
Heard that it could solve the overheating and weak battrey issue so guessing ima try it out
P.S my XZ doesnt have twrp or anything installed
Yes, it is possible. First of all you need to flash to MM and backup your TA partition (if DRM keys are important to you). Then flash back to N. Then unlock bootloader and flash kernel. And only then you will be able to root it.

Yes...
And i rooted my phone with latest 7.1.1 firmware.
And yes again... I got 7 hrs SoT and not problem with standby drain.
Use Guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz/how-to/how-to-unlock-bl-kernel-twrp-root-t3541648
Im not great at rooting and my phone is actually still under warranty
Now the problem is
Warranty void
Catastrophic heat death
Not sure which is more worth
If you follow guide closely (most important step - BACKUP YOUR TA PARTITION!) the process is fully reversible and will not void your warranty. You just have to remember to restore DRM keys before sending phone on warranty

so, if i backup my DRM... and do the ROOT, and then i want to reset to factory, and then restore the DRM again and it will remain stored permanently as it was before the bootloader unlocking ?
i mean, flashing the phone again will never affect the DRM keys anymore?
thanks

Restoring the DRM will also relock your bootloader and you lose root.

Actually it will brick the phone (DM-Verity, RIC at work again).
You must flash a stock ROM first (you lose root) and then you flash/restore the TA-backup.

Thats exactly how I bricked myZ5 once :silly:
Had to send it in for repair.
Not sure if I had been lucky, but I received it back in normal condition in two weeks after repair... without charge
Seems I'm lucky than - I've always first flashed DRM keys and do a reflash later But I did it without booting the phone
Answering the @Nidhal AKA the king question: If you reflash DRM keys you have to also reflash original firmware. That way you lose root, but you DRM keys are back in place. Phone will remain locked until you will unlock bootloader again. So yes - DRM keys will survive normal flashing once they are restored

The fact it relocks the boot implies you must have a stock kernel to boot. Actually you can restore the TA partition and then flash a stock rom as long as you don't reboot in between.
AFAIK, even if you reboot you can still flash a FTF and unbrick it. It only gives you a soft brick anyway. I have done this loads of times on previous xperias.
I've dont the part till im ready to downgrade to MM but im worried that it will hard brick my phone like the Xperia V I used before
Not sure about it tho since really just got the phone and the overheating and the standby power loss is putting me into a fuss

You have to work a bit to keep GPay working, and the solution definitely requires root. The current solution has been working for a few months and works on Android 10, but who knows if they will "fix" the current hack. You will absolutely not be able to download Netflix from the Play Store. There is one build on APK Mirror that will sideload and run, but of course you will get no updates. I've been running that build on the Pixel for about 6 months, and I have a tablet that does get Netflix updates yet I see no difference between that Feb build and Netflix even from a few days ago. Those are the only two things impacting me. Obviously, need to hide apps with Magisk and such is user specific (my car's door unlock/diagnostics/etc detects root without hiding it, but it works fine once hidden).

You can relock the BL, but you need to first return to absolute stock (no root, no kernel, no custom recovery, etc - pretty much flash the factory image with wipe to both slots to be safe). Then the relock will perform another factory reset anyways. So, if you are asking if you can keep anything you've done while unlocked the answer is no. To me, the biggest reason for unlocking beyond root is that it is almost impossible to hard brick the Pixel with an unlocked BL. It is pretty easily accomplished when locked down and can even happen as a result of a bad OTA or something that is not your fault at all.

understood, if only need back to absolute stock its okay for me. though it will like other smartphone need "drm" to relock.
yeah agree, why i think to unlock is about avoid brick or similar thing. but before i do that i need to know what feature will lost, so i asking here.
if relock again, all things will back to normal again right?

No, there is no residual damage like lost Knox. Everything would return to normal once BL is locked back up.

I wanted to root my xzp but ..

Hello, I have an xzp with 2 years of work, it is running out of update, it is being abandoned by Sony, so I decided to give it another chance to install a rom with interesting functions. But I know Sony well and that I have the rooted Z5, when you unlock the bootloader there is no going back, all the Sony properties are lost, and they are good properties, I do not want to risk. Is there a way to backup TA before all? The Z5 did allow root before unlocking bl, in my case I lost it because something strange happened.
I am interested in a high refresh rate, I don't know if it will work in LOS 16 or higher, if someone has tried it and it has worked well ...
Two things that I liked about the xzp is its screen and the sound, a ROM like the exisTenz pie(Modified based on firmware) has the quality of the screen or sounds as is the stock?
Regards and thanks in advance

Personal opinion, go with eXistenZ. The other full custom roms have issues. I'm not a gamer and I rarely watch video on my phone but the screen looks great to me. I'm not an audiofile, but I have no complaints as to sound, plus if you root and use Magisk there are sound mods you can install. You will loose some camera functionality but for me not a game changer. I take snapshots with my phone; I take real photographs with my camera. After all I bought it as a phone, not a camera.

You're right, I take snapshots too, with my rooted Z5 it's impossible to focus scenes because the missing DRM key, with that it works correctly (no problem to focus on objects), it's ok. Someways to backup the TA?
There's a thread all about backing up DRM keys. Seems like a whole lot hassle for nothing to me, but search for it and you'll find it.
