Good Job Google - Google Pixel 3 XL Guides, News, & Discussion

been playing with my pixel 3 xl for 3 hours now non-stop. i have to admit, this is damn good phone. the UI is very snappy. i have yet to encounter any lag. the screen is very good, it's as good or dare i say a little better than my iphone xs max. been playing around with the camera, and it is as advertised. it's so easy to take a great photo. you just point and shoot and google's algorithm works its magic in the background. i havent tested the video part yet. i really like the feel of the back of the phone. that glass that has a very soft matte feel feels great. i turned off the active edge, not a fan of that. i'm currently using 2.2gb of 4gb ram with 6 apps opened in background. i dont forsee many ram issues. but you never know, as hardware ages then issues do tend to pop up. the notch is a non-issue for me after always looking at iphone's notch. but i do see why lowering the screen down to the bottom of the notch and keeping the real-estate above it all black with just the icons in the black would be appealing. chrome does that very thing if you are in the google app and go to a site from the app. and it looks pretty good. all in all i gotta give google props. in my opinion this is the best pixel phone ever made.

What about brightness compared to the XS Max?

it is not as bright at max settings as the xs max. but then again i'm inside at night and the pixel is plenty bright. we will see how it fairs outside in direct sunlight. but to be honest it doesnt seem like it will be much of an issue. it's more of a bragging point for the iphone than an issue.

That's odd cause my 3xl actually seems maybe a bit brighter than max. I'm also in a dark room.. hoping that maybe my iPhone is just throttling brightness so to speak. iPhones usually get brighter in daylight, at least if you have auto brightness on

I was curious if you guys have auto brightness on because the pixel phones get brighter with auto brightness turned off

I have auto brightness on both. I'll put something in here tomorrow when I get both into the daylight

iPhone does not have an auto brightness. In general, iPhone looks good outdoors.

iPhone definitely does have auto brightness lol. They just moved the setting to accessibility

Nice to hear people with the iPhone XS Max review this Pixel 3 XL, and I mean real people, not professional YouTube people.
I'm a Nexus / Pixel fan myself, going back to the Nexus-One, and waiting in line for the Nexus-S.
But I gotta admit, playing with the XS Max at best Buy couple different time recently, man was I impressed with that phone, Great screen. Love how it's almost bezeless, with the display taking up the entire phone, and no chin. And it was SMOOTH and FAST. But...iOS, I just cannot get comfortable with iOS. Last iPhone I had was the iPhone 7 Plus, and iOS 10 just was not a fun experience. Being so used to stock Android phones over the years.
But man the iPhone XS Max had me thinking of switching
Anyways, my white Pixel 3 XL came in today, and I like it. Currently been using the Pixel 2 XL.

Yeah, Mrs Crab has a coolaid device and I can see the attraction, in my mind it's not bad so much as an answer to a question I never asked. Hard to get fair comparisons though because fanboyism is huge nowadays and even people like me that are willing to give the other side a look have a bias thats going to go one way or another. It was interesting to see the video out recently with the YouTube phone reviewers in a room in Vegas and the one guy asked which phone they actually had in their pocket for personal use. There were Pixel 2 XLs, iphones, nothing else. Marquees had one of each. No other brand was represented, no Samsung, no Oneplus, etc.

I also have both phones to compare. I really like both iOS and Android, but I have to admit that I like Android a little more because of the freedom to install any apk I want and split screen apps. IMO, the only thing that the iPhone XS Max has over the Pixel, is better sound from the speakers. Last night I started a movie on Netflix(on my Pixel) and I thought that the top speaker wasn't even working. The bottom speaker is so much louder than the top speaker, it sounds like all of the sound is coming from the bottom speaker. You don't really get a sense that you have 2 front facing speakers. I watched the same video on my iPhone and it sounds great. Other than that, I like both phones equally.

Okay I thought the exact same thing about the speakers and thought I might be a little crazy because nearly every single review on YouTube raves about the speakers. My iPhone speakers, at least to me, blow my P3XL speakers out of the water. Same thing with the top speaker as well, it sounds like it’s barely even on. So much for “40% louder”

I'm not happy to see that you noticed it also...I was hoping my device was defective. It's not only the volume difference but it's also muffled, like everyone speaking has a spoonful of peanut butter in their mouths. I think I'm still going to keep the phone, because I like everything else. I also use headphones most of the time anyway.

Yeah that’s my exact experience too unfortunately. It seems like the just too much bass/vibrato going on with the audio. I can feel the phone vibrating the sound better than I can hear clearly what’s coming through the speakers. I’m also keeping my phone cause hopefully it’s a software deal and can be fixed (not that it ever will) and my iPhone is my Daily driver now anyway because where I work we are heavily integrated with apple, not to mention the dual sim e sim feature when it comes out will be awesome for my work line and having both numbers on one device.

Always curious to hear.
Got mine yesterday.
It's all screen! Lighter, thinner than GS3. Feels more like a small, thin Note 2 which is a good thing to me. Not so bubbly as GS3. Screen is amazing. Bloatware is out of control. The back looks kind of like snake skin.
The speaker is much louder than GS3. So far, I love it. Haven't even tried the features yet!
Anyone else?:good:
Got mine yesterday as well. Extremely nice screen! Gorilla Glass 3 resists finger prints better then advertised in my opinion and the overall 5 inch display is incredible. Super zippy but yes, comes loaded with Samsung and AT&T Apps but this shouldn't be too surprising as Samsung did advertise there software quite a bit. Only natural they put there mark in it. On the flip side all this is easily fixable once a root is out but EVEN with this stuff the phone manages to handle it's memory well and work fast.
Overall I am glad I waited and after a couple of weeks I think there people freaking out are really gonna kick themselves for getting all worked up over stupid problems that are easily dealt with.
Got mine yesterday. see my bloatware thread.
Hardware is amazing and top notch. Software is so bloated and bogged down that, when combined with locked bootloader, I will strongly consider returning.
People might flame me for this, but even with the bloat disabled and using Nova launcher, my gs3 running slim bean is faster on everyday tasks.
Just hit 5% battery life and the phone just automatically reduced brightness to a point that I can barely use it, and phone won't let me crank it back up. Just way too much garbage.

screen is mind blowingly good, i had a HTC one for 3 days before i got my GS4 and honestly the one was closer to the s4 then i thought it would be. the one had less bloat and it stutter a bit less (after freezing bloat my phone has gotten ALOT better). camera is awesome love the quality and wow this phone is so small for 5 inches. coming from a note 2 and a temporary lumia 920 this thing feels tiny and light, honestly one of the major selling points of the gs4 is it's bezel less design (imo). if bootloader stays locked for long i am selling it or trading it for the one or octa core version.... its a shame that the stock rom is so bloated, i traded the one back because i thought sammy software would blow htc out the water but it didn't . One more thing, the GS4 tv remote works 10000 times better then the htc one. htc could not sync to my sound bar or u-verse box no matter what i tried, the GS4 had that working in seconds. i have 3 remotes just for my bed room and the fact that i do not need them is a huge plus.

You might need to play with the settings some more for the auto brightness settings. As for the lag, AOSP ROMs have always been faster (in my experience) to Touchwiz Roms. I'm going to put up with the stock Touchwiz for as long as I can before trying out the first releases of AOSP on the GS4. I'm hopeful we will see some crazy development action if it's true the Quad-core international version ROM's can easily be ported to the US versions and vice versa. The international GS3 had so much to chose from. I was perfectly happy on my GS3 using AOKP, but I'm sure I'm not going to regret moving over to the GS4. I had the same debate when switching from the GS2 to the GS3.
I dont get mine till tonight, but I found one in a best buy mobile store and was surpised at how much stuttering I saw just going through the homescreens.
Im hoping that when I disable all the eye tracking stuff that will all run better.

I tried the htc one remote control feature and liked it. Only thing I really liked, glad to hear the gs4 one is better. Definitely comes in handy.
How is the camera? Especially the dual shot feature(I feel I'll be using this alot )? And the other camera features?

Here are some photos I snapped this morning in challenging conditions: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/oll6vneulv13mz6/TZcApg0pCD
Overall, better than Galaxy S3 by a decent margin. But I used to have an iPhone 5, and my initial impression is that the IP5 takes better pictures than the GS4, at least in these conditions. I feel like it was extremely rare that I got a bad photo out of that phone, even in a relatively dark room as in these pictures, but as you can see in my link, several of these are pretty bad.

Your pics look pretty good to me. I'm viewing them on my 24" monitor at work though. Cute dog btw. I'm sure compared to the ip5 the gs4 will have better detail due to the higher resolution in normal conditions? Is there an exposure setting? Or other settings to help low light conditions?

Now that I've taken a second look, I guess you are right that they are pretty decent, except for one of them. I'm so used to looking at things on a small screen that when I blow it up on a big monitor I expect it to be just as sharp on a big screen as it was on a small screen!

i agree. those pics you posted dont look that bad. that's the problem with the htc one camera (i own one) when you increase the resolution of the pic, the quality suffers due to only being 4mp. the gs4 is 13mp so it wont be as bad when you increase it's resolution (although there will still be some kind of quality drop off).
Just frickin' awesome. After having the Note this "cheap" plastic feels luxurious
Got mine today. Coming from an LG Optimus G. Here's a few thoughts.
1. I really like the keyboard. But since I've been a swiftkey user for a long time that's no surprise.
2. Screen is very good. Wish it was a little brighter when using auto brightness, but it is very good nonetheless.
3. Maybe I'm just not that picky, but I don't notice any lag. At least not anything bad enough to complain about.
4. Seems to charge pretty fast with the included 2 amp charger.
5. It might be plastic, but I can tell you I like the light weight and the feel in my hand better than my LG Optimus G...
6. I thought the 'swapped' menu and back buttons would bother me. But to be honest, I kind of like it better...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
I have a few questions,
1. Does the speaker have 'stereo sound' like the HTC one? Can you hear the base? What about hooking up to the headphone? Does it sound better than S3?
2. Anyone here uses Allshare cast? I have a Samsung LED Smart TV that I stream movies directly from my phone to the TV with a touch of a button on the S3. It does have occasional lags, however. Does the S4 do the same?
3. Does the S4 have the same amount of ringtones like the S3?

I actually really like the button setup. When I got my first smartphone like three years ago, it was a Blackberry, and it had a similar button arrangement. It went [PHONE][MENU][HOME/SELECT][BACK][END CALL]. My current Galaxy S2 is [MENU][HOME][BACK][SEARCH]. So the S4 will be the same as I am used to, and I will appreciate not having to get used to a new setup.
two issues.
1)wifi keeps on disconnecting... very annoying
i have another device on the same wifi, but it's not disconnecting at all.
2) RAM. even if i clear everything, i'm at 1.2GB ish.. i always notice the homescreen widgets refreshing themselves due to low RAM.
anyone else?
everything else is fine.
speedy, beautiful screen, good speaker, very nice camera, etc.
Speaker is very good; coming from S2

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Google Pixel XL, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Google Pixel XL is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
This is my best device, so far out of the 16 android devices I owned. Almost scored it a four only for two reasons wish it was bigger and the speaker is not as good as having two front facing speakers. I know people like to complain can not drop it in a lake (do not get it wet then), can not replace batteries annoying but no big deal, no SD card (128 Gig) is more than enough. So far I used the device heavily and got 20 hours, the battery life while I am always saying I like more is better than my Nexus 6
I came from an HTC M8...loved that phone....but I have to say I have never not had a rooted phone before the Pixel XL...and it is the best phone I have ever owned. Battery life has been amazing. Phone is snappy. I love Nougat 7.1 100%. I don't even feel I need to have root at the moment. Would be nice but to be honest I'll be fine with stock Android. Google did an amazing job with this phone. I was very skeptical on the price and specs. But I know I made the right decision!
P.S. I did go with the Verizon Pixel XL, cuz Google has been out of stock. Got it on launch day. Was also much cheaper to go with Verizon for my work discount.
Edit: the only complaint I do have is the speaker...my M8 had boomsound and was great. Other than that...I love this phone!

The camera on the Pixel XL is amazing, but when you pick it up and hold it, it feels like one of those fake mobiles they have on display in shops. There's no premium feel like the 6P.

I just got it today. Came back from holiday and it was waiting. Awesome, awesome device. I have one issue. The vibration. It is so weak I can hardly hear it's working. It doesn't seem to be intense at all. For me it is a hardware issue. Everything is switched on. Any ideas?
Best android phone I've ever owned, absolutely love it.
Received mine yesterday and I'm genuinely impressed. I've owned more phones than I care to admit to, but I'm honestly even more impressed with this phone than I thought I'd be. I still have my HTC10 as well which, I'm also absolutely in love with. For now, the XL has all my attention. Kudos Google.

Switch from Pixel 2 XL

Hey guys I'm thinking of switching from the Pixel 2 XL to the OnePlus 6.
Some of the reasons I'm thinking of switching is that I miss having the headphone jack. It's gotten quite annoying not having it. I don't take many pictures, so I'm not too concerned with the camera downgrade. Price is definitely a big deal. I can sell my Pixel on Swappa and essentially break even. If I wait til the Pixel 3 and trade mine in, I still have to come up with 300-400 to upgrade. If I switch the the OnePlus 6, I'm getting the latest specs, extra RAM at pretty much no cost.
What do you guys think? Wanna help me decide?

I came from the HTC U Ultra, and for me atleast the One Plus turned out to be a really good investment. I also switched in part to the Headphone jack, and extra RAM. I do like he the phone so far, and found the camera to be on par with my HTC phone if not a bit better. The only complaint I have is I find the speaker , and vibration quite weak as compared to my HTC. In the end, the specs are quite good for the price
I've been a 2XL owner since January and I just bought the 6.
The 6 has a much worse vibration motor than the 2XL; to me at least, it is a huge difference and I really dislike the feel of the motor on the 6.
Colours/screen however, looks better to me on the 6, despite having a lower resolution - colours are more vibrant and no screen issues that many users report on the 2XL.
Performance is better on the 6 and that is a bit obvious I know, but I was shocked at the difference - it's actually noticable! Apps launch insanely fast while the 2XL is still stuck on that same app's splash screen.
The camera is not great at all in my opinion (on the 6). I could even go as far as saying it's slightly below average. Maybe it's because the Pixel's camera has spoiled me. You mentioned this isn't an important thing to you so you should be fine in this department.
I have all Bluetooth accessories, including headphones, so a headphone jack isn't necessary for me, but for your needs, it seems like another plus! (No pun intended lol).
Not sure if custom development (ROMs, kernels, etc.) are important, but OnePlus should have a lot more of that than the Pixels.
And finally, the biggest "feature" is the price - OnePlus is the clear winner here as well (especially for what you get in return).
I hope this helps make your decision a bit more clear
I'm using pixel 2 XL as my primary phone and this device as my secondary phone.
I'll never keep one plus 6 as my primary device cos I'm into photography. The only reason I have this for dash charging and dual SIM. Also I'm a digital nomad and I carry multiple devices. I retired my LG G4 which was an excellent shooter and was my back up device, now that's been replaced with one plus 6.
The extra specs and Ram doesn't really scream performance when you pit it against pixel 2 XL. One plus reduces all the animations to make the device faster but it doesn't have a very noticeable performance than my pixel.
I'm not bothered with the notch.
If you have the budget do both and you'll be happy. Else get this device and play around with both and sell what you think doesn't work for you.
My pixel is very dear to me so I would never think of replacing it with any other device. Also with one plus you lose the water proof thinge!!

I can see how the speaker and vibration could be bothersome. I love my Pixel 2 XL speakers, but I don't get to use them much because I'm at work or out a lot, and headphones would definitely come in handy. I have some Bluetooth headphones, but I have a lot more regular headphones that I have in my backpack, laying around at work, etc. It definitely seems worth the price!

The 6 has a much worse vibration motor than the 2XL; to me at least, it is a huge difference and I really dislike the feel of the motor on the 6.

It definitely helps! I've seen plenty of reviews where the reviewers say that the Pixel is faster. I'm not saying mine is slow, but it definitely hangs on some apps and I just have a hard time believing that the newest processor plus more ram isn't going to be faster than last years with less ram.
You've made great points, I hadn't thought about the screen. I definitely could see how the OnePlus 6 has a better screen! Thanks for your input, it's definitely been helpful

I love my Pixel, and I think I'll want the Pixel 3 when it comes out. But price wise for now, it's either sticking with the Pixel 2 XL or going to the OnePlus 6 for a wash. But I hadn't thought using both to see which I like better. I guess I could always return it within the 15 days if I don't like it right?
I sold my 2 XL a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of the OnePlus 6. I loved my 2 XL but personally found it just slightly too tall and I just couldn't get used to the screen. Even with "Boosted" and "Saturated" color calibrations the 2 XL screen paled in comparison with my wife's Galaxy S9 and my iPhone X (for work).
As for the camera, the 2 XL notably outshines the iPhone X in almost all conditions. Surprisingly, the pictures from my OnePlus 6 really are not that far off from my 2 XL. The OP6 still outperforms the iPhone X camera with much more clear and color accurate photos.
I loved my 2 XL, overall. But the iPhone X really showed me what a well designed bezel-less phone should be. The OP6 is Android's best alternative to that, IMO. The notch never bothered me on my iPhone and it doesn't bother me on my OP6. I'd make the same switch again in a heartbeat. And the best part is that I sold my 2 XL on Swappa for $710. This allowed me to pickup the OP6 (8GB / 128GB), the Nylon Bumper Case + screen protector and still pocket nearly $100.

I have both and agree with everything you've said. My biggest disappointment with the OnePlus 6 is the speaker. It's awful. I don't know if I'm going to keep the OnePlus 6. It is substantially faster than the Pixel.
Switch. I had the 2 XL, S9+, 5T before this. Camera is good but nowhere near the Pixel (neither are the S9+ or 5T), but if that's not your primary focus you'll be happy with the 6 until the Pixel 3 comes out. You'll probably have better resell value than your 2 XL too.
I am so torn. I have both phones and have about another week to decide if I'm keeping the OnePlus 6. Even though I have cases on both I just saw this guy who did a drop test and completely shattered the OP6.
Sound on Pixel 2 much better. Speed on OnePlus better.
So difficult to choose. Any ideas?
People are down playing how bad the camera is. It's 2x worst vs most of phones listed above. Software hopefully will help it.
Speaker is not great for occasional usage. Few things missing in software.
Luckily OnePlus holds there value. especially next few weeks plus 15 return window to try out.
Phone is very fast and ultimately stock Android. Haven't had any issues with day to day usage. Think it's a decent upgrade till the pixel 3 comes out.
Sold my 2xl an hour's to the money back I paid for this op6 and I already miss it ?

Don't choose the OP6 over the 2XL. It's a big downgrade, from the camera to the screen resolution to the terrible speaker to the vibration motor.

Why? I'm still waffling.
I love the screen, the speed is unmatched, and the form factor is more pleasant to hold. Also a big fan of the nav system in Oxygen OS.

I disagree that it's 2x worst most phones. It's not even 2x worse than most flagships. I've seen several pics where it outshines the iPhone x or s9. The problem, in my eyes, is consistency. I'll take 4 pics and get 4 different results. 3 of them will be over-sharpened so much there is noticeable halos if you zoom in, etc. But it *can* take good pics, which leads me to believe with software (or Gcam!!!), we'll be money.
Also, the video is above average for sure. Once they get the focus hunting dealt with that is.

I completely agree with you about the speed and form factor. My biggest hesitation is the speaker and volume.
I've heard conflicting things about whether it can be improved with a software patch or if we're stuck with a hardware problem.
I don't use the phone as a loud speaker, I have Google home devices as well as Bluetooth speakers. That said it's plenty loud enough for me to play games or watch videos.

how happy are you..

So, i got mine OP6 yesterday, damn it is a nice phone i love it.
But how happy are you with it. And what would you change to the hard-software..
Battery percent in circle.
Proximity sensor to activate ambient display.
Speaker sounds a bit tinny.
That's about it from me
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
I just wish the vibration motor felt more like a Pixel 2XL or iPhone 8/X
Coming from an OPO this is light years in advance. I don't think I could ever go back to a phone with less screen retail and no gestures. Having said that, it is far from perfect:
The glass back is so slippy it makes the phone useless without a case.
The battery life is better than my old phone, but not as good as I was hoping.
There is no thermal paste or cooling on the SOC.
The rounded corners on the screen are annoying and pointless.
Not sure if I should swap my Midnight Black to mitigate #1, but given it is a glass back I'm not sure that is going to help really. On the flip side I do appreciate the improved signal a glass back brings.

Got mine yesterday as well. My previous phone was a note 8. I'm very pleased with the OP6 so far. At this point I wouldn't change anything except it is quite slippery. I feel like I'm holding a baby.
I definitely hope to see an improved camera performance in a future update. My OP6 produces smudgy images that seem way too processed. A Google camera port on my old OP3 produces much better quality photos, so there's that.
Otherwise the rounded corners of the screen are a little reminiscent of an old-school TV and I struggle to ignore them.
Performance is beastly AF.
1. An option in settings to have always on display
2. Speaker volume and tone to be improved. When I had the 5t on Oreo beta the speaker was really good for a single speaker, this one just sounds a bit shallow. Enabling the earpiece speaker would be a plus if they could implement it.
3. Bluetooth drop outs. I'm finding it losses connection to devices temporarily (not due to range)
4. Option to have Google now as the left hand page rather than shelf.
5. Was thinking of a 5th for ages however in the main really happy with it and all the above could be fixed in an update. Let's just hope they don't wait too long and forget about us 6 users because they are working on the 6T!
In love the round corners, they are so cool looking, I got the mirror black and I love the way it looks. I think the phone is fantastic.
Pros of oneplus6
1. Snappy Processor for the Price - Snapdragon 845 is one of the fastest processors
2. A Tall and Notch-ed Display - The AMOLED display of the OnePlus 6 produces rich, bright and crisp colors.
3. Taste of Android P - model for which Android P Beta would be available.
4. Headphone jack!

Yup, that's the one.
Incidentally throttling is not bad right now (I did some quick and dirty tests in another thread), but might be an issue down the line. AFAIK the 5/5T had the same problem. Anyone know how they've held up in the last 6/12 months?

Probably jerryrigeverything tear down videos.
Am I happy? Yes and no. Didn't care for pixel. Miss my note 8. Nexus 6p is still my favorite device but battery issues kept me away. Personally think Huawei handles battery and speed(with bells and whistles) just as good. But emui.
Op6 is a get what you pay for. I think they can do better at the 530+ price. I probably take a lost but I'm going g to hold out until the next update. If things are not imporved I'll sell it for something else. Probably lose a $1 per day of ownership.
Battery life and maybe speed(not as dramatic as people make it vs others) is where the phone beats everything else. Nice to have unlocked bootloader/root. Feels like Nexus days.

Just got mine today and love it so far. Buttery smooth and lightning quick. It has so much customization built in that I don't feel the need to put a custom rom on it. At least for a while.

I was one of the crazy people who actually found bixby useful. Without Tasker and being able to voice command mobile hotspot was great. Battery life was on par. Device community and not very many options out here for old school Nexus type devices.
Not a bad phone just thought by the 6+ device, some of the hardware compromises would finally be on par.

I used a OP5 for the last 11 months and to be honest, I didn't noticed some kind of throttling. Maybe there was, but I never noticed fps drops while playing with a Nintendo DS/PSP emulator (which seems like a good indicator).
Looking at the teardown videos they DO have thermal pads (the black slightly shiny things) so it isn't quite as 'bare' as suggested. Probably not as good as thermal paste, but I'm not exactly up on mobile phone cooling. Maybe someone better than me can provide some insight? I wonder how common this is in other phones.
My problems with it are the too small battery (resulting in **** battery life compared to other current phones), the mediocre camera, and no vibration that can be felt/heard whatsoever.
Rest (whatever is left) is ok.
I should probably return it and get full refund and spend money on something more proper.

To all the OP6 owners, need answers

I have a OnePlus 3T 6/64, using it for like 11 moths or so.
Want to upgrade to a OnesPlus 6 Lava Red 8+128 that I've seen used for like 300€.
Wanna ask, things like camera(I know it's great, not best but decent), performance(amazing), screen(compared to my 3T maybe not a lot of difference?), battery(also, I get with my 3T 50% brigthness 3.10h SOT, I've used a MI5 and 2.45h so moderate-hi usage), speaker(3t is meh, 6 maybe a lil better?)... Just wanna see what people says, or compared to a 5/5T but wanna know if I'm going to notice a difference, wanna use the 6 for at least a complete year.
Battery is a priority, I need at least 4.30h SoT with a daytime visible brightness. Can't get a 6T or 7, just have 300€ and I want AMOLED and a 835 at least, I've seen Xiaomi alternatives(Mi8) but I'd rather OP, any suggestion?I will be happy with a OP6? Thanks!
I'm a oneplus user since OP3, & i actually use OP6 (8/128) and I will definitely recommend you to get it.
Compared to the OP5T, I feel more comfortable using this larger screen, I get more SOT @50% brightness (~6,5H music, social networking, mailing & some PUBG), a little bit better camera quality (even if the OP5T is already good at video recording & image stabilisation), and the performances are just great.
If u get one at the 300€ price including the genuine dash charger, then it's a great deal
Definitely get it. You will not be disappointed. Some people get 8 hours s.o.t. but that's usually not very realistic-at least not without major kernel modifications. Most of the reason is, though the screen is excellent, it's large and that's where most of your power is lost. I don't think you'll get 10 hours. But in almost every other respect, you'll be floored with it!

Remember to use a GCam port to really get good pictures !
yeah this will be my first OnePlus device.. I wanted to get one before but was on Verizon before and knew it wasn't compatible.. but now that we are with TMobile i'm gonna give it a shot! I know the camera reviews seem to show its very decent (especially at the price point) and I'm pleased with the sample pictures i've seen on youtube... I have seen some of the reviews about using GCAM instead of the stock camera.. i'm just concerned about having 2 camera apps on the phone and if apps could be confused with it..
I do know the Speaker is pretty weak.. so i'm curious to hear how "bad" it really is.. hopefully its still acceptable to use..
I can't wait to see how well it runs FORTNITE... My pixels has some good moments.. but others its a DOG... so with GAMING MODE and larger screen and 8gig ram.. i'm hoping its a beast!

Fortnite 30fps max stable, maybe even 60?
Spealer meh but i don't think it's worse than 3t, will test it this week (there are some oneplus 6 at fnac) and camera use gcam and you'll have almost exact pixel 3 experience. Just intall it and use it, forget the other one unless you need manual mode or better video stabilization
If youre not picky with photo, go for it. Like said already above, dont forget install Gcam...
Regarding the speaker. If you want to root anyways you can also install the dual speaker mod and viper4android for speaker optimization. Got it installed several months and it improves the sound a lot. Often only by playing sound through the earspeaker while I accidentally cover the main speaker.
For me camera quality is poor, I'm coming from a Nokia 8 which has a way better camera quality... Well it seems like you can't have it all at this price point.

yeah I listened to the speaker a few times and i'm not that displeased with it.. It is VERY easy to cover an severely mute.. but since I use a case.. I just dremel out the inside of the connector between the hole for the speaker and the hole for the USB.. so the sound can pass through there if I block the hole for the speaker.. makes it work much better.

So if you install the GCAM, will it replace the stock camera or just have 2 cameras in the app list? can you set the GCAM as primary so even when using the double tap power or lockscreen swipe to camera, it would open GCAM?
Thank you!

The OP6 is probably the last decent phone OnePlus will ever make. They have gone the direction of all big phone makers now, bloatware, removal of headphone jacks, caving into whatever the carriers want them to do. I would get one while you can. I picked mine up used from Swappa and am glad I did.

i'm in the same boat.. yeah the OnePlus 6T does have a little better camera and smaller notch.. but no headphone jack was an issue for me.. and now with the 7 going with a pop up camera.. i'd be nervous about motor failure...
so I grabbed a OnePlus 6 and so glad I did
One Plus 6 all the way. I got one of the last ones available online from their web site...black with 8 gigs ram and 256 gigs storage. I saw a tear down on YouTube and it appears to be one of the easiest phones to replace the battery if needed. So I plan on keeping mine for a long, long time!
