Hi XDA Members,
I have a very curious problem and hope somebody has an idea what could be wrong.
I have a stock phone that has been updated by a friend to 7.0 but now he wants to go back.
I have flashed a one part stock rom with Odin with complete sucess but after reboot (even showing the erasing process)
the phone boots up and 7.0 is still there and even all the apps and data are still available.
So I tried a 4part stock rom and to my surprise the same thing happened. Odin finished with sucess, phone reboots now it
even installs the bloatware apps and yet it is still running 7.0
I am loosing my mind here. Do I need to flash a pit file? Do I need to root before I flash? What am I doing wrong or will I be stuck with 7.0 forever now?
kind regards
Piko

You need flash rom which starts with G920FXXU5D or G920FXXS5D if you want to downgrade to 6.0.1
Btw, you don't have to flash 4 part rom.

And is there anything good I can do for you to say thank you for helping me out this much? Seriously you helped me soo much.

My main reason is that they changed some core things. I now cannot stream anything from the phone (screen capture) without root. Also some oculus apps just keep crashing all the time.

Hello I have had the same type of trouble only with mine is >/
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 from Walmart. It's the Straight talk variant SM-S903VLUDU4APH3. MY phone came with 6.0.1 Mm. I flashed the stock rom 4.4.4 kk using Odin3 V.3.10.6 but upon completion of a successful flash the phone does the reboot process but boots into factory recovery and says installing system update. The says erasing then reboots to where I started from same rom, it's like it allows the phone to get the update but then reboots and does a factory reset.

Hello! So I tried flashing a custom ROM to my friends Honor 8 after reading around a bit and such but it ultimately failed and now we're trying to get it back to the default ROM. We found a ROM download but it was for the version FRD-l09C900B120 which was running EMUI4.0 and Android 6.0. I also read that the "C" version he has doesn't receive any further updates, I'm failing to find anything on the correct "C" version anywhere. If anyone could guide me through the installation process for the correct and latest firmware it would be great!
On another note, the build in eRecovery doesn't seem to want to install the update package. It always fails pretty early on after connecting to WiFi, any fix for that would be great. Thanks!
Thanks for any help!
On which ROM was the custom ROM based? You should try to flash the rollback package with dload method and then flash B120 or another EMUI 4.X ROM with same method

The custom ROM was Linageos 14.1, so it wasn't anything EMUI based.
I'm gonna try and manually flash the ROM from an update.app that we downloaded from the app Firmware Finder.

We did not make a twrp backup (In hindsight we should've....)
We don't have twrp on it right not but can be fixed if needed.
We were on the latest update available to the phone which should be latest today as well. (OTA)
Flashing it manually made the phone enter a bootloop. It didn't even start the firmware. Any suggestions?
EDIT: We got into Fastboot. What are our options?
Right now your best option in my opinion is to flash Boot.img, recovery.img,cust.img and system.img that you will extract from the UPDATE.APP of your CURRENT Rom. Then just try the dload method again and again, it may not accept the firmware you try to flash but in this case just try another, but not a lower one because you need the rollback package to do that
Rayan19997 said:

What should we do after we've flashed TWRP? When I tried flashing LineageOS 14 it decided to fail the installation somehow and be at an endless boot animation. So I'd like to get the phone restored to EMUI5.0.

Well currently there's a broken firmware on it of FRD-L09C432B943... Or something like that.
I think at this point he's looking at getting a new phone all together.
No matter if the firmware inside isn't working properly, with fastboot you can manually flash each partition that is needed as long as USB debugging is enabled and bootloader unlocked. After flashing these cleans parts you can properly use the dload method , and if you get an error using dload method can you tell me which one is it? At least the device behavior.
I have to sleep, I'll be right back on the morning hope you'll make it this night , if don't , please be more specific and accurate when you describe the errors you faced, that way we will be more efficient when answering
Sorry for language mistakes, English isn't my native language :silly:

If you need a full firmware then you should visit official honor site..
If you flash LineageOS on a phone without OS it won't work just because LineageOS patch the current installed System, if there is no system there is no way it will boot

I get that now and I know how to proceed in the future.
On another note, I got a good UPDATE.APP available but it refuses to install using the dload method because the versions are different. Does anyone know which partition the USERDATA.img file goes to?
You don't have to flash each single partition but dude in my opinion it's better to flash the whole UPDATE.APP, just use the rollback package and flash a lower EMUI.
Another thing: I'm currently on honor official site and I can download firmwares, you're searching in the wrong place.

Hi
Recently I flashed my OP 7 Pro from Chinese version of Hydrogen to Global Oxygen 9.5.7.
I have Chinese version of the phone GM1910 and I did that mostly because of the Google Services lock [as Google is banned in CN]
Now I would like to go back to the original version, but I don't think that I can do it by the local upgrade [as the H is a higher version than Oxygen?]
Would factory reset bring it back to the Hydrogen version? Or the Oxygen is now the official version of the software for my phone?
Apologies if my question is stupid, but I am really new to all those flashes and changing ROMs, so I rather ask before fragging my lovely phone
thank you for any info
Flash Chinese Full version (latest) from local update then wipe date from recovery.
changing from Hydrogen version to Oxygen or from Oxygen to Hydrogen is easy
just flash it back from local update, no data wipe is needed if it is no error (official instruction), i flash from h2os to oos without wipe, no problem.

Unlock bootloader and flash it via fastboot ? (provided if there's a fastboot version of the rom)
Local upgrade doesn't allow downgrading firmware. You mentioned that the HOS's version is higher then it shouldn't be a problem right?

Use MSMdownloadtool. There is one for the Chinese phone. it's in the thread collecting all the various MSMdownloadtool archives. Use that to get down to an old version of Hydrogen, then you can flash Oxygen via local update.

fyi, going through same thing now. delete the chinese text from the first folder or copy the guac folder elsewhere. it errors otherwise. took me ages to figure it out.
If that doesn't work for some reason, I'm surprised nobody mentioned using TWRP to flash Hydrogen. If that doesn't work for you, try installing TWRP and then flashing Hydrogen that way. ?
Hello good morning everyone, I wanted to root my Poco X3 pro phone, but seeing the videos on youtube and tutorials I have a doubt if I do it or not, in most of them they say that you have to install the Firmware of the phone first and they put a link In some videos the version 12.9.7.0 or 12.9.4.0 global version appears, but now entering those versions does not appear, but rather 13, is it necessary to install the firmware to install a custom rom? Is there any other place where I can get the firmware? Thanks for the clarifications.

So I first bought my Samsung a11 as an android 10 model,
I then flashed it after I bought it with an open-line android 11 version and got twrp and root. This was a year ago I think.
Now they released the final update for this Samsung phone model, and I want to at least get the latest and last version of my phone.
But I kinda forgot how to do the procedures again.
So my question is does flashing the new android version firmware using odin remove TWRP installed on my device?
my phone model is: A115FXXU2BUJ2 (android 11)
the firmware I want to install: A115FXXU3CV13 (android 12)
if so what do I need to do in order to successfully have both the new firmware I want to install and twrp installed on my device? (i kinda know how to root using twrp and magisk so no problems here)
Any help would be much appreciated!

Yes, flashing the update via Odin will remove TWRP and root, it will also, more than likely, lock your bootloader, then you won't be able to reinstall TWRP or root the device unless you unlock the bootloader, if it can be unlocked.

If the bootloader in the update is a securely locked bootloader, it will probably have locked bootloader after flashing and might not be able to be unlocked. That was the whole point of me warning you in my last post. Now I've had to post again just to say the same thing that I already said. I guess I was talking to the wind.
There is no way to know what the results will be after updating unless you find someone that has already updated the exact same model number of A11 or bite the bullet and update yours then see what you get.

I see, looks like i need to find someone who have done it and see if it works. I didnt get what you mean about after flashing, it might have a chance to lock the bootloader depends on the update. I think ill just try and see what happens. Thank you.
I dont know guys with that phone but there should be a tool that bypass auth and unlock the bootloader in any case. I ONLY knows MTK devices, not sure about that samsung i use a .Bat file.

No, I said that after the update, it could cause the bootloader to be locked and then may not be unlockable from that point on. It depends on the bootloader in the update. If this happens, you will be unable to install TWRP or root via Magisk. That is why you need to confirm whether or not flashing the update will relock the bootloader during the flashing process and, if it does, whether or not it can be unlocked again after the update.
In other words, look at exactly what you are about to jump into before you make the jump because you might land in the one place that you absolutely do not want to land.
