Enquires on mass texting (SMS) for Xiaomi phones. - Android General

Dear all, am facing a problem with (1) mass texting (SMS) to groups of contacts, (2) how to maintain texts sent is only SMS and not MMS, (3) how to use Android messages as SMS only.
1. It keep showing that XXX app wants to sent mass messages, but when it's allowed to, it still does not get sent out.
2. Some of the msgs via other apps turn out as MMS instead of SMS.
3. My phone can't seems to access the old msgs via android messages. And can't send out sms via Android message too.
Appreciate all inputs. Thanks.

[Q]How to to send SMS to multiple contacts?

Hey guys,
I'm wondering if it's possible to send multiple texts/group texts on 7.5 MANGO.
It's for the Samsung Focus.
I did some thread searching and they were all old (WP7). Every time I try the group text/multiple text, it responds with "Can't send"
I was just wondering if anyone has found a fix for this, aside from using the Bulk SMS app.
Thanks!
The count is limited to 10. How many did you add ?
the same, i can not send sms to 2 people on hd 7
In the Messaging settings, turn off 'Group text' and then try.
It worked for me.
With Group text ON, it considers the text messages as MMS, and fails to send.
Here is a silly question but if you send 10 SMS or MMS messages, do you get charged for 10 by your provider of do they all count as one?
Each msg is sent seperately so charges are for each sms
Sent from my TITAN X310e using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

Group text Android

I use chomp to send and receive group texts on my android. The only way I can receive and reply all is to turn on the mms grouping feature. The problem is, whenever I receive a message in that group, it's significantly delayed since my mms messages do that.
Is there any way to receive AND reply all to a group using Android using normal sms?

Sent SMS sync issue

Hi, just bought a new ATT S7, running 6.01.
For years, i have run SMS Backup + to sync texts to my gmail account. Love it.
On my new S7, this app does not recognize/sync SMS texts sent from the phone. If i use Google now to dictate "send message to xxx saying yyy" ...that text composed that way gets sync'd. But one that is typed or dictated in the messaging app does NOT.
Sent SMS texts are NOT sync'd either using Exchange activesync. Recvd texts sync fine.
I also use MightyText and sent texts from the phone do not show up in the app. If i send a text from the MightyText web app, it usually will sync via SMS Backup +.
I have reached out to both vendors for assistance.
i have changed my keyboard from Samsung kybd to Google keyboard. no luck.
Anyone seeing anything like this?
I turned off "Advanced Messaging" and it seems to take longer to Send the SMS from the phone, and the message will intermittently sync with the various apps (Sms backup +, MightyText.) But not always.
make sure your apn info is correct for SMS / MMS

Keeping ADV messaging disabled seems to do the trick.

Text message app sending strange text messages

Hello,
I have a Nokia 3.1 phone running Android 8.1.0. My phone uses the default Google Messages app to send and receive text messages. The Messages app was working perfectly until recently. I was a recipient of a text message sent to about 6 people. When I replied to the message that was sent, all of the other recipients received a private text message containing my reply, as well as my reply being in the original mass text message. This has never happened before.* Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can fix the problem?
Thank you
Did it show up on your device as individual messages as well? It sounds like your group text option is set to send individual threads. I believe there are only two options with this, one that sends group texts and replies as one MMS and one that sends them out as individual threads. The latter keeps them from going out as MMS which for some counts against their data usage. If you haven't modified your settings or made any other data saving changes I'm not sure why this would have changed for you, unless the message originator changed something in their settings.

VidJunky, thank you very much for your reply.
In the Group Messaging settings, there are 2 options:
1. Send an SMS reply to all recipients and get individual replies (mass text)
2. Send an MMS reply to all recipients (group MMS)
Option 1 was selected on my phone, but I have switched to option 2.
Still not quite sure how that happened (I have had this phone for quite a while and never had this problem), but thank you very much for your reply!
No problem. It may have happened during an update. Thank you for your kind words.
