Orbit2 USB Mass Storage Device

Anyone know how I can use my Orbit2 as a mass storage device? My car stereo allows iPods and Mass Storage devices but cant be annoyed with the ipod any more as I always leave it in the car.
Basically I want to be able to put my music on my 8gb card and play it through the stereo.
Cheers
checkout card export from softonic, works just great
http://www.softick.com/pocket-pc/cardexport2/
Have that installed... but dont understand exactly what Im doing... it says its in Mass USB Storage but also gives me an error about drivers...
Just Beta
Hey Guys!
The Mass storage thing is just in a beta stadium.
The easiest way to fill up your 8GB Card is an Cardreader at your PC...
Im not wanting to fill it up... works perfect in vista to fill it. I want to use it as a storage device for my car stereo USB connection.
You could just use your MicroSD in a card reader and insert the card reader into your car stereo... then back in the pda when finished

I also use my Polaris connected to my car stereo USB connection.
It's easy: try "Softick Card Export 3.08". It works great.
You can also try it before you buy it!

[Q] Usb port in newer GM cars

Has anyone found a way to connect their captivate or other android devices to their car through the usb port. I tried all the usb modes, including debugging. I thought mass storage would work, since it can index other mass storage devices, but all I get are error messages. I could just connect it trough the 3.5 aux cord but it doesn't sound is good (limited to stereo) and cant control it trough steering wheel.
Mass storage mode requires a second step to manually mount the drives. If you don't do that, the drives won't be found.
You can also use Media Player mode (which doesn't require manually mount the drives). But this mode is very buggy in stock firmware. I often have to reboot the phone after use it.
The reason you have to mount/unmount the drive is to allow media scanning to run everytime the drives unmounted. The built-in Music and Video player has no other way to refresh its media library.
Yeah i'm having trouble with the USB port also. I use the AUX in for the TV screen in the truck and plug in my phone that way, it sounds much better then the 3.5mm jack.

Car Stereo Questions

Was wondering what experience people had with using their captivate with their car stereos. Preferably via usb cable. If so, how much success are you having? Experiencing any problems? If not, how do you have your usb settings configured. I just bought a pioneer avh-p4200dvd and it gets hung "reading data". Was really hoping to get this working via usb as I dont have the cash to fork over for the bluetooth addon just yet. Any thoughts and help would be much appreciated.
Read the manual for the radio to see what it expects. I would imagine that you'll have to set the phone to mass storage mode. Some HU's have strict rules to where the audio files are located. Some have folder limits. Some require the mass storage to be formatted certain way. Some can only read fat16 formatted mass storage, some can read fat32. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Most headunits can do bluetooth now and works really well to stream bluetooth, but put in mass storage mode and u will prob need ext sd card not the main one. and that should work

[Q/Help] Shield K1 - SD Card and OTG issues

Hi all, I'm on MRA58K stock build.
Some issues or I'm just plain dumb.
1. OTG is not working.
When I plugged in OTG with logitech gamepad receiver, it shows as the battery is charging. Same for XBox 360 receiver.
They work perfectly fine on Nexus 6.
Do I need to root? Can't see myself buying Shield Controller
2. External SD card
As Portable storage, I am not able to move files from internal to external, not able to copy from network to ext sd and when plug into PC, i see neither storage.
If I set it as IntSD, i am not able to move large files into it. It is as it doesn't exist.
All above using Estrong file explorer.
Any help and advise is greatly appreciated
Any helpful? Especially with OTG
For the external storage I've had the problem.
The solution I found:
-enter in developper mode,
-set the usb configuration to PTP and back to MTP.
For all the transfers I'm using root explorer, and my device is rooted.
For OTG:
I've no problem with my logitech mouse M185.

Mass Storage Mode S8+

Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to enable usb mass storage device mode on the S8+. I want to connect it to my car via usb but it doesn't let me. I have read that I need to connect it as a mass storage device however all the apps that say they can do this say that they can't find my 'lun' file. I can connect it via aux but then I can't control the music with the pause buttons etc. Bluetooth isn't an option as my car doesn't have it.
up for this
MTP all the way
Maybe the issue is not with your S8, but with your car's USB. Try both these steps to isolate the issue:
1. Connect your S8 to a laptop to check if you can enable mass storage.
2. Connect another phone to your car's USB to see if it allows and recognized the mass storage setting.
3. Try to connect your S8 to another car and see if the mass storage can be used.

That is not a issue with the car USB... That kind of radio only support universal mass storage devices, the old andorid devices, android 5 and below, could be mounted as a UMS device, so the radio would be able to play it's audio files. Now android devices can only be mounted as MTP, so it doesnt works. One thing that you can do is root your phone and use some UMS enabler app.
Guys, can I access my storage from recovery mode?
I cant unlock my phone and need to get data from storage.
Is there a mass storage option, like old times?
Thx
