wifi calling on T-Mobile doesnt work with pie - Essential Phone Guides, News, & Discussion

Previously before pie . Wifi calling worked fine. Undated to pie and when I shwitch it on the phone restarts to the lockscreen and it didn't turn on. Note I also have the Sprint variant. But worked fine on Oreo. Clean wipe and applied Oreo then pie. Thanks for the help!

From what I've read, the only "solution" currently is to downgrade to oreo, enable wifi calling, then upgrade to pie and not ever touch the setting again.

You right about that. Unfortunately I unchecked it then tried to check it now I'm in this issue. I don't want to downgrade cause of all my stuff

Works for me just tried it. Oct Security patch. Tmo.

T-Mobile. It was working fine on N and O roms, then stopped working when updated to Pie since. Now, it's working again!
It must be something Essential done wrong because my phone has been on stock rom since I got it.

works for me (when it feels like working lol) on Pie and i have turned on and off the setting multiple times.

Unlocked S8+ Update

Today I have received an update for my S8+ running unlocked firmware on my Verizon phone. If I update will I still remain on the unlocked firmware? I ask because at the bottom of the changelog it says SM-G955U1/VZW. or would I have to Odin it??
That's probably referring to the fact that your SIM has been provisioned for VZW. It will not change you to VZW firmware.

Did you update to the recent firmware update? Last thing I want is to update and be without a phone for 9 hours while I'm at work and have to Odin all over again.
I did a regular OTA update, with the U1 firmware installed. Everything went through as it should.

Can you provide the next update log? Thank you!
probably something to do with your apartheid state
you probably have a phone sold by a carrier, they get updates slower.
If you're AA you get 9.5.4, TMobile in the us gets 9.5.6, apparently AA gets 9.5.6 for the Verizon fix. EU people get 9.5.5. all of them receive camera update and I think April security patch.

use a VPN route to US and try again.
or use the oxygen app updater (if it even has the firmware)
otherwise VPN will work.

VPN to US? I live in Texas. Why do I need a VPN? So you really think something is wrong with my phone? Maybe because I RMAed it (my wife didn't want it, but I decided to keep it after I had already started a return)?
Oh... I need to VPN to UK? What? lol
Do I have to be off WiFi? I am like always on wifi, but I have turned it off and tried (TMobile SIM, but phone is unlocked from OnePlus)
UPDATE!!! You can now download it here: https://support.oneplus.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4312
Downloaded file, moved the file up one directory from downloads to root, did local update. I just got done rebooting and all looks good. Time to take some photos.

If you're not getting it means that OP is rolling out slowly
They don't roll out updates all at once, they do it in batches incase there are issues and need to pull the update back

Is anyone tried coloros on OnePlus 8 Verizon?

OnePlus 8 Verizon Bootloader is now unlockable. If anyone is installed Coloros on his op8 then please share you experience.
I'm doing it right now, for the fact. I'll attempt to install it and get back to you ASAP.
Update: Cellular data does not work for whatever reason. I'm pretty sure the Verizon variant just isn't compatible...

You can't even install it; I did exactly as the ColorOS guide suggested but the update still failed verification even though I was on the EU ROM. In any case, you won't be getting cellular data at all, likely because of the modem.img, and it's quite unoptimized.

I followed the conversion guide for the T - Mobile model that also works for the Verizon one. You also won't be getting cellular data if you switch to a global/ EU ROM. Other than that, it works fine.
Did you tired to relock your bootloader. I relocked my bootloader but its still showing device is not certified in play store.

I used MSMTool to restore; I'm not sure about the Google Play certification (I still get OTA updates from Verizon), so something is still working on my end.
Which msmtool you used Android 11 or 10?
Yes OTA is also working on my device.

I used the Android 11 one. We'll just have to wait until Verizon pushes the OOS 12 update (seems to be quite soon, as they recently released a security update).

Don't know what caused your problem, but if you can unlock your bootloader you can download the latest image at https://developers.google.com/android/images, or use the flash tool at that URL. Read the installation instructions at that URL.

I think you should be able to install the missing factory OTAs one after another using adb sideload without unlocking the bootloader. See https://developers.google.com/android/ota

What did you expect to see change? AFAIK the only visible changes with the the three updates after October, 2021 are the build number and build date. The Android Security date does NOT update with these post-EOL updates, it stays at Oct, 2021.

VoLTE Roaming Support is in the June 2022 update, not the Feb. update. I don't know what VoLTE support, if any, is in the Feb. update. Also, as @yeswap mentioned above, the security update level is not what you should be checking - it is frozen on Oct. 5 2021. Go to Settings, About Phone, Android Version and check the build number and build date to see what version you are actually running.

VoLTE is Voice over LTE, it has nothing to do with data speed.
There's no VoLTE toggle in Android settings with Android 12 on the Pixel 3. VoLTE is enabled by the carrier and not all carriers support it. Contact you carrier and ask them if they support VoLTE and if it's provisioned on your line.
You can see.if VoLTE is provisioned by dialing *#*#INFO#*#*. You can test if VoLTE is working by making a phone call. If your phone stays on LTE during the call VoLTE is working, if the phone switches to 3G during the call VoLTE is not working.

When i am come back home. I will try.
I have also order a New sim
I have same issue since latest carrier services update. Can barely make a call since yesterday.
Sounds like the update disabled VoLTE. Check *#*#4636#*#* Phone Information section and look to see if VoLTE provisioned is toggle to the left (off). If so, it sounds like a carrier profile update broke it. You may have to go back to old firmware.
Thx u i will check When i come back home.
I hope your right.
But i sûre update suck because troubles come after.
It s difficult to Come-back Old firmware ?

On all Google Pixels, you can downgrade to any firmware you like as long as you accept that you'll have to wipe the phone. The only exception to this rule was when the Pixel 6 Pro was updated to Android 13 Stable since the old firmware's bootloader had a big exploit.

Either my instructions there or Official Google Android Flash Tool (OEM Unlocking needs to be toggled on - you do not have to manually unlock the bootloader - their site will do that on its own). You're welcome!
I Really appreciate. Thank you.
I have the same problems and more in Romania, on Vodafone. I think the modem is completely broken.
You shouldn't have to downgrade or root to fix any kind of problem. How Google can release crap like this is beyond my understanding.
I had the exact same problem, I asked RMA because it was impossible to call someone.first they refuse saying to me that an update will solve the problem but I insist and now with the other phone no more problem.i think there is a batch with broken modem

If i can solve i will make this

Try upgrade after downgrade. Pb still here.
I will try only downgrade
So my conclusion.
For moment only rom version a2 works.
When i upgrade to the last (31), call bug....
So i need to stay in first version. I have block automatic update.
Another person same provider, works with 31 rom version..
I dont know why.
Pb solved
