Found this posted on ASUS's website today in the downloads section.
Appears to be the Chinese version of the firmware. Judging by the patch notes looks like they will have separate versions for China, Japan & Worldwide.
*Edit*
They now have the World Wide firmware posted as well as the Kernel source code for both Chinese and World Wide variants.
https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Phone/ROG-Phone/HelpDesk_Download/
If the downloads don't appear for you when you select Android from the dropdown menu, there seems to be something wrong with ASUS's website and Chrome. Working fine on Firefox and Edge.

I just recieved my chinese unit yesterday and i have updated immediately to the mentioned update version. I am saddened by the fact that so far it's not possible to install the google store and the Google apps that require play services installed, i have spent the majority of the day trying different Google installers but to no avail. Still i managed to get the majority of my apps installed.
Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon. By the way you can download the phone English Manual from Asus Website the chinese version of course which will give more details to anyone interested. If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
One final note you can't flash other region rom and there aren't tools yet to do so.

So i just installed the app you mentioned, basically it's a launcher it lets you access the play store within it using your Google account but it doesn't actually install the Google play store or any of its required sister apps it only lets you install/update from the Google Play Store like your purchased apps for example, still if you install Google Maps from it for example it won't work because you need the Google Account Manager to login and retrieve your saved info, same thing for all other Google apps that require Google play services. Actually this launcher works like "Yalp Store" if you heard of it but Yalp is better i think.
Did u tried to install google store apk file from it?

Yep that's what i did, and as i explained the google play store isn't a stand a lone app it's within the launcher app. You will not find it in your drawer app so technically it's not installed. If you remove the launcher you will not be able to access the play store anymore, so the launcher is acting like a proxy to the play store.
Edit:
So to further explain, if you ever used an Android emulator on windows this launcher app does the same thing. The launcher app installs all apps within it and you access them from it. The only problem with using this app is how secure is your data and what about your google account.

what do you mean by another launcher?. I think you misunderstood me, the launcher app i mean is(gplayspace app) all apps installed are within it, so if you uninstall it all other apps are uninstalled.
If you want to just use chrome, Maps you can install them from Asus Store but old versions not up to date. Regarding Youtube you can install "Youtube Vanced" which is better than the Youtube app itself.
If you just want to use (playspace app), make sure to use a disposable Google account in case something wrong goes down. Good Luck

Bro i just answered you. All apps installed from gplayspace app are within it you will only find them there. So you will not see them in your Home launcher as individual apps.

Hi,
I tried searching both the mighty google as well as this site for instructions.
I just got "fitbit" sports tracker thingy for a present and found out the app isn't available in my country.
..now I have tried the following
- Got a VPN and tried to connect to play store with that on my samsung tablet
- Got a VPN and tried to download it from the web (still shows my machines as something it can't be installed on)
- Got an US amazon account and tried to download the app from there (couldn't without american creditcard, even if free)
- Tried to contact the FitBit guys directly for the installation file (they just suggested I try to reach the american play store for it..)
Help.
If someone would be so kind as to download the free app and share
OR
tell me how the F**k can I get it?
I understand the difficulty on some video/music stuff as it's licensed and such and such.. but for a 100% free app? what's the point!?
A while a go i tried to download some apps from outside the US, and i found an app that could change the country you are in and trick the play store permanently. I cant remember the name of the app now.... but search the google again for a related app... and please share... that is possible...

Does anyone know how to go about updating these.. is the app updatable to a later version without any trickery?
ps. I tried market enabler, but I don't have a clue how to root a device (not sure that I even ought with my skill and talent, or the lack thereof.)
:good:
If you've sideloaded an app, you can't update it automatically. You'll have to download & sideload an updated version.
Some apps have a built-in checker for a new version, and if one is found, it will redirect you to the Play store. But, then you'd have to find and sideload the new one.
Hi all,
I've installed custom ROMs many times, and always used Titanium Backup (Pro) to re-install all my apps and settings automatically.
I was suprised today after installing PAC-ROM 22.1.0 (Jelly Bean 4.2.2) to have the Play Store automatically re-install all my apps. I did not have to use Titanium this time...
Is that a new feature from 4.2.2 ? Or from the Play Store itself ?
Thanks for your thoughts
regards
No google store is restoring your last installed apps free not quite sure how many apps are being installed. Figure around last 60 apps. I wish they wouldn't i test lots of apps. I would say i get about 20 junk apps installed every time

What is quoted below is directly from Google play store! So how did you come to your conclusion?
Permanently removing uninstalled apps
At this time, there is no way to permanently delete or remove apps from the Google Play website (My Orders/My Android Apps) or from the Google Play Store app (My Apps) that you’ve previously downloaded but have since uninstalled.
Uninstalling apps using the Google Play website
To uninstall apps from play.google.com, simply visit the My Android Apps section. Click on your desired device, then click the trash can icon (to the left of the INSTALLED button) next to the app you'd like to uninstall. Click UNINSTALL to confirm.
Sent from my Nexus 4
Some apk's of the playstore in gapps packages have auto restore where, as someone stated earlier, youre most recently installed apps are reinstalled. In some cases all of them. Its usually just something the dev who created the gapps package puts together. Ive never heard of it being an option in google settings.

First of all, the OP is not asking how to uninstall apps via Play Store. My conclusion is from experience. Flashing many ROMs and having to setup my google account with every new ROM. After entering your Google username and password you are prompted by a checkbox that asks to keep this device backed up on google. Enabling it causes the behaviour the OP is reporting.

Understood what you said hoping you knew of option to stop apps from reinstalling after google account was already setup!
I guess i should have asked in a question. Did not mean to get you on defensive. My Second android phone was hoping that google by now would have seen these pitfalls in reinstallion of apps and customers need to experiment.
I wish google would get its act together realize 90% of apps i dont want are free in the first place. Its annoying to see free apps being reinstalled. I could understand paid apps being reinstalled but free apps come on Google Play Store!
But thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately I don't know how to stop the reinstallation, sorry. I don't normally use that feature anyways. Google seems to be getting too big for their britches too. As for me being on the defensive, it's all good .

I've probably misunderstood the issue here but if you want to stop the restoration of apps on each new ROM flash then just go to settings>backup & restore and uncheck the boxes for keeping the phone backed up and restoring the phone each time. If you mean that you want it only to install the paid apps and not free apps then I have no clue, sorry.
EDIT: whoops, quoted the wrong person.

However, as i said, it's the first time my apps get re-installed by themselves. Anyways, does this mean that Titanium Backup became obsolete ?
Btw, since play store v3.9 or so, one can remove the apps from the account (except he paid ones). One can even select as many apps as required and remove them all at once. Go to my applications>all apps.
Regards
I tell you one thing: it's never worked well. If I try to move over onto WiFi so that my battery won't be violated and it won't be downloading for half a day it always stops reloading them and it won't work again. This would be a great feature if it worked well.
By chance I ran the Huawei App Manager and it showed me a lot of updates for Apps I installed with Google Play but Google Play does not show these updates?

Hello,
I have bought huawei Mate 8 (4/64) chineese version on ibuygou.com for review in my country . I wish they had installed google play services etc but they didnt.
I have tried with Google installer - it didn't help (method the same as in xiaomi devices). Next I have tried to install google play services.apk and google play.apk from apkmirror, but after I have written my email and password, there was written that there is no connect or sth like this - try again later. I checked account menagment in settings if I could login in google account, but there was no such option.
So my question is: Has anyone method to install google play, google services on this smartphone? I hope that anyone can help me, I will be so grateful !
Open HiStore (The Huawei app store) and search google, the first little banner that pops up click it, there should now be a list of the google apps. Install them. Change some permissions and you should be good.
Also install the app in the internal storage in case you have a micro sd installed.
ok so the solution here works great but when downloading larger apps such as zombies run or NFS No limits the playstore would force close and download fails without warning.
has anyone experienced this? could it be to do with the download manager?

Why do people say there is no solution?!
I've seen some guy encounter this issue and then find a solution for it, and now it works perfectly for him.
Something to do with system app and permissions i think was all.

Appreciate this. I've tried trusting the entire google play store app which should allow everything but that didn't help. cleared data and stuff + reboot - nothing.
But seeing how someone did manage to solve it, I will give it another go before flashing. Thanks
solved. The UI is sort of confusing because I needed to bring up another (native?) permissions manager in order to enable storage permissions. could be a security feature.. no idea.
either search for "permissions" inside settings, or reach it by going to Apps > Advanced.
I'm planning to get the Chinese version (only one for now that has 4gb RAM and higher storage) and my question is does the phone come with English out of the box? Thanks
check with the shop ure getting it from, there are definitely multilanguage china roms

Yes I have same situation here in Brazil. After update there is no longer google playstore available, location is totally bug and even downloading from other source the app does not run. I will check on Mi Community as well and let you know if I figure out anything over there.
As far as I know, in fact, your Google Play Store app has just been hiden. Download the latest Play Store apk, v23.2.11-21 or V21.2.12-21, and then install it on your device. You will find the Play Store icon appears on the home screen now.
You can get that apk from the well-known apkmirror or apkpure website.

Thank you for your prompt reply and information. However both versions and also the latest offered by the websites did not work. I really do not know what to do
After some research, I found the Google Play Store app had been renamed 'Google Play Services Updater' in 'Settings - Apps list'. In addition, the launch icon disappeared from home screens.
But it will recover when you install the later edition of Google Play Store.
If you need, I will send you the cloud storage link to the Google Play Store apk, v23.2.11-21 or V21.2.12-21. I think it will work.
Thank you! Now it is working!
