The best way to do this for a *rooted* Fire HD is to launch Titanium Backup, locate kso (Kindle Special Offers), or just find Special Offers in the apps list.
Tap on it and either freeze or uninstall the app.
You can also try to remove the app via a PC machine with ADB (Android Device Bridge).
If your Fire isn't rooted, you can try talking to Amazon Customer Service via online chat and asking them to turn it off.
Hopefully they won't ask for the $15 fee to do this.
You can use the app Prime Photos to change the lock-screen wallpaper, then use Nova's wallpaper setting to change that one.
Please note that the Prime Photo app sets the wallpaper for BOTH lock screen and home screen, so do the lock screen first.
Hope this helps.

Hi guys,
I've been searching for a couple of hours now for a free app that is able to launch frozen apps from the home screen with a shortcut or something. The best i have found is 'hide apps - root' or 'HMA' as the icon says. It is able to launch the frozen app then rehide it after use. I just wanted to know if there is an app like this one so that i can put a shortcut on my home screen and launch it from there instead of opening the app, finding the frozen app then launching it.
Just so you don't think i'm up to no good, it is for some apps that use memory in the background no matter what setting i choose in the apps themselves
Thanks
-Jarrod
Basically no. I'm surprised there is even an app that will unfreeze, run the app, and refreeze afterwards. Once its frozen its equivalent to uninstall it, therefore a shortcut is not possible.
What is the full app name available for download from the market (Google play)? Maybe I can research it and find a way to make custom shortcuts for your needs.
The app is by the maker of 'root unistaller' (which also is able to launch frozen apps) and is called hide app - root, its just a trial. Hide it pro is also able to do it
That would be great if you could have a look. I don't have that much of an idea on how to do that

I'm also very surprised that such an application exists. Doesn't such a thing require a reboot since freezing an app removes all associations between the app and the system?
what about Autostarts, Its an app that you pick which apps you want to start automatically.
i dont know how freezing works but i dont think it changes much in the file system.
i was looking around with root explorer in data/app and my frozen apps were still in there. and they also appear in the setting/applications just a bit fainter than the rest.
Not really the right kind of app. i want one to launch frozen apps, not see what apps are auto starting, but that app might help speed up my phone thanks
Titanium Backup has the ability to frozen the app. You can make an shortcut to titanium backup, that you can switch from frozen to unfrozen.
But it`s not automatically :-/
I want to lock certain apps on my phone away from meddling hands (can anyone say frape?) but looking through the Play Store all I see is tons and tons of ugly, bloated POS that ask for loads of permissions that this type of app has no business asking for - location? Camera? Er, no thanks.
Anyone using a beautiful resource and permissions-light, minimal-looking app lock to protect their other apps?
EDIT: Also it needs to lock apps the instant someone tries to launch them - and not show the app on screen for half a second before the lock is applied over the top of it.
Looking for an app that allows me to hide an app (Lets call it "Q") from the system, maybe in such a way that it doesnt appear to be installed either, is this possible? (i have root).
And I also want to password protect Q, all password protectors i find just popup a screen with a enter password-request whenever Q is opened, but Q is very clearly visible with its contents on the multitasking menu of the Galaxy S5, and this isnt good enough.
Its would also be a bonus if the app will not allow itself to be un-installed.
I want real security on this application. Military style. Willing to pay for it.
Does anyone have any tips?
As for app locking, I'd highly recommend AppLocker. Very secure, very reliable, just plain good all around.
As for app hiding, I'm not aware of any apps that do this. However, if you'd like to have it available on your homescreen, many custom launchers (like ADW) offer app shortcut label and icon changing. For example, I use ADW Launcher with the Minimalist theme, and I have my email app password-protected and labelled "Light Bulb" with an illuminated light bulb as the custom icon.
Hope this helps! And if it does, don't forget a thanky!
Get Hide it pro from play store. It has an option to hide apps using root and it won't even show up under Apps in settings.

Unfortunately AppLocker is the first app i tried out. This just pops up a window infront of the screen whenever it notices that Q is open, but it doesnt really help when the recent apps list is up, all the contents are easily visible from the menu :/
When it comes to hiding Q, I was hoping i could make it dissapear from the "Installed applications" list in settings->Applications menu.
If someone steals the phone from me, they are not supposed to be able to find out that this particular app is installed.
Its already hidden from app drawer and is password protected. But if anyone checks the list of actually installed applications, it shows up there, and it also shows up in recent apps list. I want it to vanish
upgraded from the S4 on Verizon, have a few questions
1. how do I draw on screenshots/pictures now? I couldn't find an option to in gallery edit or google photo edit.
2. how do I see a text notification (an envelope) on the status bar of the lock screen instead of Verizon Wireless and the first part of the text message?
3. how do I disable the 3 buttons from lighting up?
4. which is better, Music or Google Play Music?
5. can I change the Messages theme back to blue and yellow bubbles or better yet custom bubble colors? I do not like the orange and white cremesicle theme
are these things even possible?
1. Apparently you can't. I was lucky enough to have this feature on my Moto x (Motorola gallery app). Try using a different gallery app (quickpic or cm gallery maybe?)
2. Probably can't get rid of Verizon wireless. I haven't played with it enough to even notice what appears, but doesn't the notification appear on the lockscreen? Just curious, why do you need it in the notification bar?
3. You can't, unless you keep the power saving mode on at all times. This bothers me too. Pray for root.
4. I pay for Google play all access. This way I can stream music from my computer as well as use the streaming service (like Spotify). For this reason, Google play music is invaluable to me. I've actually never used the regular music player on any phone. I never got into storing music on my phone.
5. I tried making the messaging app more appealing, too, but I guess you can't. I use textra, and have for a long time. It's pretty simple yet customizable enough to make you happy

Number three is all I really want. They really need to add an option for this so we don't need to use power saving and we might not get root.

Hi gang,
I've got an old android device running CM11 that I'm using mainly as an alarm clock.
I'd like to be able to run only the clock app (Gentle Alarm) .... and then if I want to use any other apps like email or whatever, I'd have to unlock the device.
A lock screen widget doesn't quite cut it, as I'd like the full functionality of the alarm clock app (or actually, *any* app I select, for that matter) available, but as soon as I click the home or back button, I'd be taken to my lock screen.
I could see this feature being useful for lots of reasons... say if I had a tablet as a remote control for the TV/stereo that guests could use, yet i didn't want them running other games or apps.
Is this possible?
Am I off my rocker?
So much easier than I thought..... Using CM12+ (Lollipop) I can "pin" an app which will enable it to be the only app which can run - switching to another app or going home presents the user with the lock screen. Perfect.
I feel like a bit of an idiot not realizing this was a built-in feature of the OS. But hopefully this info will help someone else along the way.........
