Help !!! Brick honor 8 frd-l04 with android oreo (8.0) - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

I have a problem, I have an honor 8 version FRD-l04 version 605C with android 6.0, update by firmware finder and hisuite to the version of android 8.0, after the update I am with the compilation version "system 8.0.0.046 (0FA0 ), I do not know what happened but the phone did not have any google applications, install them with apt, but it does not open any google app, it stays in "checking information" and then the screen remains in black, finally it closes the app, also does not let me log in to google in any way.
On the other hand the option of "unlock oem" went gray, disabled, I resorted to block the bootloader again to see if it allowed me to enable it but did not get results, therefore the phone was left with the bootloader blocked and the unlock blocked oem, I can not use TWRP.
try to update several updates through firmware finder, download the system but when updating in the Erecovery exit "error in update"
can someone help me plis? I want my phone back.

This happens when region file is not installed properly..Use Hisuite to download and flash latest rom..

OK find your firmware files , like you was on L09C432B399 etc find any lower version e.g (L09C432B380) full OTA 3 files and flash same like you flash Oreo with HuRuUpdater with Oreo Version TWRP.
Restart then you can download FULL version OTA via Hisuite hope it works .

brother, this works for me, performs a factory reset from the revery default (ie, the menu that comes out by pressing VOL + and POWER) and then installs an apk called "yalp store", this app allows you to install packages, from this app install google play and google play services and the other gapps, at least now it works normal.

no, this option is still blocked, any solution?

I am in the same situation, no matter wich Stock Rom file i try to install, it always fails at 5%. I'm giving up...
FRP Locked
Bootloader Locked
Rom incomplete (No GAPPS, no Camera, no browser, not even keyboard)
System 8.0.0.046(0BSZ)

I had experienced the same issue last week. Locked bootloader with greyed unlock bootloader, no google apps, no IMEI. What I did is trying to boot into eRecovery, connect to WiFi and let it download the correct ROM.
Try boot into eRecovery by pressing vol UP + power and at the same time connect the charger. Good luck!

No, after i tried infinity of firmwares the recovery refused to install any of them. My last option was contact MinistryofSolutions where this guy used paid softwares to force install any firmware on my phone, it was 25usd, but now my phone is alive.
I will stay away from huawei anyway you can easily screw up your phone and the options to restore are very restrictive.

honor 8 bricked bootloop

Hi, I have a honor 8 that bootloops I can only access to fastboot not in bootloader or recovery. Bootloader is locked, i can't flash anything and i can't unlock it because I don't have the Product ID. The dload and three fingers method doesn't work. What can I try to unbrick it? I can't even turn it off.

Which number of firmware you tried via dload??
Which firmware number you were on before issue??
When you say that the dload method doesn't work, what do you get when you try it ? You have to flash the proper firmware for your phone, otherwise it will deny it, you can maybe use a rollback package.
Try the Huawei tool ... U can fix it easily and you can play around don't panic it's the first thing ...

Maybe you are doing it wrong. As long as you have a stock boot.img and a stock recovery you should be able to use this method.

If you mean Hisuite I already tried it. my PC detects the phone and hisuite launches by itself but then doesn't detect any phones. when I try the rescue tool "resuce mode enter..." appears on the screen but then hisuite says that the phone isn't compatible with the rescue mode.

Alright I think this is a good point , now that you can use the dload method you need to know under which EMUI version you were because the phone won't accept a firmware that is lower or to high compared to your actual EMUI version.
What I did when I was in your case is flashing a rollback package downloaded from honor official site and then flash an old EMUI which is under Android 6.x.
After a few tries you can make it, I hope I've been clear, English isn't my native language

Ok here i go ... Open the Huawei tool ... And follow steps to install TWRP ...turn of the phone , once it's off hold the volume button down then connect the phone to the PC that would take to some type of fastboot ! Flash recovery the 2 option .... Reboot into TWRP .. from the Huawei tool u would see and option of stock i think there u can copy the recovery OEM info system and boot option flash them all one by one .... Reboot the phone ... And you would be redirected to recovery from WiFi and now it would work since u flash the OEM info now the phone knows what to look for u won't get the getting info failed ... And that's it just makes sure u have a good stable WiFi connection ...
And like a said the more calm and relax u do these the better the first time I screw the phone I almost get a heart atack :crying: it's easy

My Honor 8 broke after it downloaded and installed the very first update. Since the failed 'update' I am NOT able to access Android at all. The phone was stuck on the Huawei eRecovery screen which fails to connect via wi-fi and is unable to connect or retrieve any information from the server to update and repair the phone. I was able to use a 'roll-back' package and install the stock firmware (FRD-AL10), but since I have done the roll-back and restored the stock firmware the phone boots to the first screen where you select your 'Region', then the 'Language', WiFi connection, Agree to the Terms & Conditions, then skip the following steps for Cloud and something else - after all this it goes back to the 'REGION' selection screen, then again the Language selection screen and so on - it just loops and never boots into Android.
Thus I am unable to get the Product ID, the unlock code, etc.
The phone is still locked and UNrooted as all the other solutions rely on the phone being UNlocked and Rooted - but since I DON'T have access to Android I cannot do anything with the phone.
Can someone help me to retrieve the Product ID from an essentially 'DEAD' Honor 8 phone??

I have followed this 'dload' process to load the stock 'FRD-AL10 - ...C00B135' onto my Honor 8, it completes successfully then the phone reboots to where I have to select the Region, then Language, then WiFi, then agree to the Agreement, etc.. then the phone 'loops' back to the Region, Language, WiFi, selection and everything from start.
Is there a way to get past this 'loop' to the point where the phone actually boots into Android?? I cannot access the Product ID, unlock or root the phone.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

"Your device has failed verification..." after Firmware Finder update [SOLVED]
Hello to everyone!!
I have a problem with my Honor 8, it is the FRD-L09 model firmware B394.
I installed Firmware Finder from Playstore and tried to downloaded the B402 version, it downloaded a lot of packages ota and then tried to install the update without success.
After that, when I turn on the phone, there is this message. If I push the power button the phone starts.
I don't know if it can be useful but if I go into fastboot mode the phone says: phone unlocked and frp locked, but I haven't unlock the bootloader. The phone is new, purchase from the honor site.
Thank you in advance!!
EDIT: I was able to resolve the problem with the rollback guide of huawei, flashing MM via dload!!
When you update with FF, I recommend to use the change DNS thing. Just for the future.

You can try to reinstall EMUI on it. There is a guide called "back to emui from custom roms", which requires the openkirin twrp, though. Anyway, did you check that you have firmware access with IMEI?

Yes, I checked it before start the update
EDIT: Can I use the restore option into Hisuite?
When using either option, in System Update press the 3dot menu and select full package. This will download one large update rather than the multiple OTA files.

Typically you get this problem when you install an update without locking the bootloader.. This happened with me couple of weeks back.. I think happens, cos during the process of the update the bootloader gets locked, but it doesnt come up on the fastboot (donno why)
I just unlocked the bootloader using the OEM code and voila it worked... I was able to get ride of this message as well as root the phone.. Do try and let me know!

Problem with TWRP Recovery v3.1.1 on my Samsung SM-j701M

Hello there
I bought a Samsung J7 Neo (SM -J701M) on another country than mine (Im from Argentina, device bought on Paraguay). Anyway, I started to look another way to get some space on the internal storage and I remember that android had an option to expand it, using a SD Card. Unfortunately, i realize this option is not allowed on samsungs device, but it works (i read it, because can't do it) if you get root user.
So I looked how to do it and i found a group of files
ODIN v3.12
Magisk v.14.5
twrp v.3.1.1 -j7 neo
Im not sure if I downloaded the right files, but im start the process anyway.
I followed point by point
First I installed TWRP Recovery v3.1.1 (which is supposed to be correct to my model) and then already on twrp rom I installed magisk 14.5 from sd card and did wipe data.
Turned on the phone and I restored all apps from a google backups, and I realized I cant find app "Magisk" on the device, so I decided to reboot the phone and it starts to do a bootloop with this error "kernel rev. check fail, device:2 binary:1"
At this point, I failed every attempt to fix this error
I tried installing the last official firmware that i found (and Im not sure if its the correct one)
J701MUBU3ARC2_J701MUWT3ARC1_UFN
And I got this error
"SW REV. CHECK Fail (BOOTLOADER) Device :5 Binary 3:
I searched on google this kind of error, and I found that I have to downgrade the bootloader. And this is why im here beacause I dont know how to do this, and if its works, i don´t know how to continue the process to root and expand my internal storage. So I really appreciate if someone one could help me with this. I can learn fast and I love to do this things by myself.
Thanks for your time!
Fernando
If you have to downgrade the boot loader, it means the firmware you are flashing is older than the one on your fon.
Go to www.updato.com and look for the he latest J701M firmware.
You can sort the list by date and by region.
And the site is download manager friendly ?
Good luck!
Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk
Thanks for your answer! One more question about the region. Should I download firmware from the country that I bought the phone or firmware from the country that I am?
Look for your country specific firmware first.
Otherwise Samsung usually has regional software - i.e for several countries in a region e.g. Argentina, Paraguay.

Hi There,
Did you have any luck with your Phone? I have the same exact model but I have Android Version 8.1.0, Samsung Experience version 9.5; Android security patch level -Feb 1, 2019; Baseband version: J701MUBS6BSB3 and like you, I love doing things myself, and I can't seem to abide a smartphone that's not rooted.
I'm not exactly a newbie, I've been assisting devs with testing and such on AT&T SGS3 for quite some time. But I can't seem to find a stable method for rooting for this phone, no one seems to be doing any development on it.
I would love to hear your story thus far.
im needing help myself, i have the SM-J701M (J7 NEO), with android pie 9 official, but the binary is 7 (because Argentina Geniuses of course) and of all the things i tried nothing works, and the only thing they did was brick the phone, so i flash and stock firmnware to be usable again

What have you done? I saw your messages on TG but everyone ignores usually, I had another problem and footbed the solution myself as I got ignored for days.
So, what have you done? Maybe we can figure it out a way to root it, but to avoid telling you things that you may have already done it is better if you let us know your already followed steps.

i tried flashing TWRP like a guide said (Latest version) but then got stuck with a boot loop in the Samsung Galaxy Logo, then when i enter to flash the latest global firmware it didn't work because it was binary 6, so i searched for the version in Argentina that has binary 7, after that i didn't try anything else in fears of getting fully bricked, i was thinking of the magisk canary way of rooting (patching the AP) but i don't know what happen if it fails the flash
Hi, i have the same device, SM-J701M, but when i try to flash the stock, it says that the device binary is 9 and the rom is 8, but i cant find the binary 9 rom in any place, only 8. I have the trwp installed, so I was thinking if I format all data (system and files) and try to flash again, it will work ?
Also im from Brazil (SM-J701MT), and the device was buyed in Paraguay (SM-J701M) too. Should i install the SM-J701MT ROM right ?
Some success.

Ok, guys, I've had a bit of progress with my device Samsung Galaxy J 7 Neo (SM-J701M- Android version 8.01)
On this phone, the option to unlock the bootloader was missing in Dev Opt and I knew that in order to achieve anything I was going to have to unlock the bootloader.
I searched and found that, via adb/fastboot (Google's Platform Tools) rebooting the phone to the bootloader you could enter the code: 'fastboot oem unlock' or 'fastboot flashing unlock' and voila! everything would be fixed...But...my device wasn't even being recognized by "fastboot" ! adb yes but no fastboot! Always the message: "Waiting on any device". Trying to find and install the drivers to do this was next to impossible.
It actually caused me soft brick my device. However, it was a blessing in disguise; I knew what had to be done, I was going to have to reinstall the firmware via Odin. I searched the site (Sammobile - you'll have to create an account.) and found the Oreo and the Pie Firmware, I downloaded both but played it safe and restored my device with the Oreo first.
And lo and behold the option to unlock bootloader was there! No hesitation, clicked that sucker fast!!
Now, I'm running PIE (No one has done a Custom ROM for this baby just yet) and with the unofficial TWRP in the first link below, it's a bit buggy but until they make an official one for us ... I guess we'll have to wait.
Oh! And don't forget to make a backup with Smart Switch!
And pay attention to the advice here:
Code:
1. Extract the firmware file you just downloaded. You should get 5 files:
AP (System &Recovery)
BL (Bootloader)
CP (Modem / Radio)
CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
HOME_CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
2. Add each file to its respective field in Odin v3.14.4. Use CSC_*** if you want to do a clean flash or HOME_CSC_*** if you want to keep your apps and data.
3. Reboot your phone in Download / Odin mode (make sure your device is off) with the following button combo: POWER + VOLUME DOWN + BIXBY
Other options in case first option did not work or isn't possible.
Option 2 VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP then USB cable
Option 3 POWER + VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP
Option 4 POWER + VOLUME DOWN + HOME BUTTON
Option 5 (Note9) USB cable + VOLUME DOWN + BIXBY
Option 6 (Note10) POWER + VOLUME UP
4. Once in download mode, connect your phone to the PC, preferably using the original USB cable you got with your phone. Odin should detect your device and a BLUE box will show up with the COM port number. (Be sure, the SAMSUNG-drivers are installed on your PC!)
Do NOT tick any extra boxes. The only options to be ticked are F.Reset Time and Auto-Reboot.
5. Click the start button, wait for Odin to say 'PASS' in a GREEN box. Once the flash is complete, your phone will reboot, and you can disconnect your phone from the PC

I think that's because you have to be specific with the carrier; Orange; Nextel; Movistar...that makes a lot of difference in with the firmware. If you can, check to see what you had before and try that first.

Hey, I noticed we have the same android version and and phone model, I wanted to know which version of Twrp you used . I am guessing version 3.1.1?
It's an Un-official version of TWRP, so the version #( 3.2.1-0) may not count, you can check the links out to get more information.
hola tengo un problema, tengo un sm-j701m binario 11 android 9 y quiero intalarle un twrp pero no se cual descargar y que funcione
Don't know if anyone's still following this thread or even still has this phone but there's been quite some progress with this device. (i.e: SM-J701M) The posts below will certainly help to bring your device up to date re: rooting; flashing etc.

Trouble in Rolling back to Stock ROM from OpenKirin on FRD-L14. Please Help~!

I tested the latest OpenKirin Omni ROM this weekend and decided to rollback to the stock OREO ROM on my FRD-L14. I followed the rollback instruction to the word - extract the image from the firmware downloaded from FF, flash the image file via Fastboot and I even relock the bootloader to turn it back to stock status.
However, I found that the phone contains only Huawei's software without any Google app. It is also impossible to input my Google account. After some panic, I decided to re-flash the ROM to try again but found I no longer can unlock the bootloader because the option got greyed out.
Now I have a phone with only voice and message access without any google app, so I cannot even brows the internet. Am I pretty much doomed? Please help!

Can you enter into eRecovery? In eRecovery, you can connect to a Wi-Fi network and install the stock ROM.

I guess you can go to the apk mirror website, download Chrome (or Firefox), Google play store, Android webview etc, copy them to the phone via hisuite, and install them manually after switching on "Unknown sources".
Also, i have the impression (someone maybe correct me) that the OEM unlock stays greyed out only for a few days, and it will enable itself.

Forced update via erecovery!

Guys! Hello again... I'm still blocked with android 8.1 on elm29 sp5c900. I understand that c900 is global, Huawei still tells me that an update will come soon, but nothing. Erecovery doesn't find nothing on server and hisuite doesn't help me at all. Now the question... Is there a problem if I download an update file from firmware finder and install it with forced update (power plus volume buttons)? Can I brick the device, since I don't have a backup file or original software

Firmware downloaded through Firmware finder won't install via forced update, you can use service ROM (download though androidhost dot ru) and place it on usb OTG and force it. Or you can use patched Hisuite method to update https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146/page132
Yes it can brick, anything can happen but very unlikely, just backup your device through Hisuite before trying that if you want to keep your personal data(won't back up firmware, only apps, contacts etc.)
C900 hw/normal does not get any update.
Just force some updated base via dload package or via forced hisuite with dns spoofed.
Thanks for your answers! So... The steps will be... 1. Download "update full base. app"
2. Place it on root folder in dload folder
3. Update it via forced update (power button plus both volume buttons)
I've found on firmware finder update.app file. This works via dload method?

For dload, you ll have to use an USBOTG, exfat formatted.
On 8.1, Use a 9.0 dload's update.app .
Once on 9.0, use a 9.1 dload's update_sd.zip
Alternative is to use forced hisuite.-If so uodzte first to 9.0 then 9.1.

Thanks a ton. I will try with dload. Is more simple
Forced hisuite doesn't work! Gives me only update to android 8.0. Firmware finder on pc doesn't give me my version sp5c900, so I can't download any firmware. Now I don't trust FF on phone neither. What if this gives wrong firmware, since my emui version is not suported. ****

Meaning there is no update on hicloud server available for C900.
True. Damn huawei ****ty version.
Thx a lot #oslo for advices
I've spoked (finally) with someone from Huawei on chat, and after verifying my serial number she told me that my phone is a demo version. F%$&. So, no Android 9 for me. Still, my phone works flawlessly. Since I'm stuck on 8.1 I want to root it and play a little more. Can you give me an idea how to root it? Thanks

First, is this device is with an unlocked bootloader ? (and/or do you have the unlock code ?)
To check bootloader/phone status, boot to fastboot/bootloader mode :
Plug device to PC with Hisuite, reboot P20 and Hold volumeDown on P20 until it boot on white screen ;
What is your Phone status ?
Sorry for late response. Bootloader is locked.
"phone locked.
FRP UNLOCKED"
And I don't have bootloader code.
So you won't mind that dload packages are locking back bootloader as it is already locked...
