iFFALCON TV - General Questions and Answers

I have purchased iFfalcon K2A 55" TV by TCL. It runs on certified Google Android 7.0.
I have tried to gain ADB access for giving some permissions on apps that I installed, but to no avail. I don't get proper connection on device id connected.
I have checked that the port 5555 is closed.
Following are the open ports:
2121 ftp, 4332, 6466, 6467, 6550, 6553, 6557, 6559, 7983, 7989, 8008, 8009, 9000, 12104, 32776, 39520, & 46288.
Someone please help me in gaining proper ADB connection.

Open Settings, Select Apps, select your app, click permissions. Set permissions.

the same with any android device, you get access to admin functions so you can mess with options that regular users generarlly dont need to mess with.
like make writeable the /system folder so you can add (or remove) device drivers, config files, etc.
its required by some app like titanium backup and droidmote server or (for eg.) to make an init.d script that load at start your nas movie folder as a local folder via ntfs.

maybe he's installing some cracked app, dunno - generally most tv-providers apps (like hulu+, netflix etc) are root-aware and stop working when they found root enabled so its the other way around.
but you generally can root any device by yourself, beware of people that ask you money to do that.
How can you root a tv box? I've tried i root, kingo root, one click root etc. None of them work.
Hi from me too!
I have the opposite question. How to unroot this device when the application does not need root and nothing that i have tried didn't work.
Thank you

Root ALL RCA and NextBook Tablets

So plenty of Android fanatics have found themselves picking up low end tablets with limited support purely for the low cost.
Finding drivers alone for these devices can sometimes prove tireless even through sources like pdanet and etc.. Root access alone improves the device experience ten fold.
So with a few short steps you can have root access with (from my experience) ANY BUDGET TABLET!
VERIFIED ON MULTIPLE MANUFACTURERS AND ANDROID VERSIONS 4.1 4.1 4.3 4.4!
1. Download Cydia Impactor
2. Connect Device via USB to your PC
3. Enable USB Debugging
4. Run Cydia
5. Click the USB Tab
6. Click Driver Scan
7. Select Device and click Generate Driver
###Allow time for driver to generate!
8. Ensure " #drop su" is qued
9. Click start
###Allow process to run
10. Download Root Checker from the play store and check for root access
11. Smile for victory

Would this work on my Nextbook Ares 11? It's running lollipop 5.0.

I just tried SRSROOT via win 7 and usb debug methed but still no root.....does anyone know for a fact the above ethed works?
You should change the title of this thread because it does not work on all RCA devices. Not sure why in the past two years when something works on some devices that people keep posting it as working for all devices. The one click root tools started saying that their app works on all devices when they clearly don't, now most every post that involves rooting a device, uses the word "all" in the title just to get people to click on their thread. I Get tired of seeing threads that claim something that the op clearly knows is not true.

Is their a possibility to upgrade Web Os 2.2.1-2147 55UF8509-ZB to Web Os 3 or install Disney+ app
Thanks
Same issue for me with my 49UF850V-ZB running 2.2.1-2147 (beehive-biscayne) webOS.
I've already tried flash procedure with a fresh formatted usb pendrive (1st test: NTFS with pc feature // 2nd test: FAT32 with tv feature) and the following firmware placed in "LG_DTV" folder, but no success with both test:
1) SH7E_SM5KE_UH5E_4.03.40.epk or LS73C_LS75C_SM3C_SM5C_SM5KC_UH5C_04.32.50.epk
2) starfish-dvb-secured-lm15u-biscayne-2147-04.05.85-prodkey_usb_V3_SECURED.epk

I have the same issue.
Do you think there is a trick to avoid 3rd party hardware despite buying a new tv?
I think it's more easy install the official Disney's app trough USB pendrive. You need a LG account, put the app inside one usb pendrive (not zipped), like a widget. When the pendrive is inside the TV, the app can be selected. I do it with the app "ottplayer".
The problem is that I don't have the app downloaded for put it into the pendrive.
It's another idea.

Wrong. Hardware supports it, Samsung doesn't, it's a company choice. SoC is the same as the Note 9, so the hardware is all there.
no MHL, no different screen resolution, no ...
So no DEX, it's not SoC problem.
Perhaps with "WIFI DEX"...
Yeah you maybe able to get Dex working but you will need root. You will need to find the Dex for Pc apps from a supported device and install them using a root explorer (paste the apk files in /system/priv-apps) then open build.props and change the model number of the device to a supported device (Note 10 is good) then save. Reboot device and then try...
Not a dex alternative, but still relevant.

How To install Google TV Launcher on Android 9 TV

first you are going to need to get 2 APK
The first one is com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherX_1.0.40152940
The second one is Google_base.apk
Then you are going to put your Android 9 version into developer mode you need to allow USB debugging and select USB configuration to any protocol such as media transfer protocol
When you did that you can sideload your two APK files when that is done you are going to need an app on your mobile phone called called remote adb shell. Find out the ip address of your box go to network and ethernet and you will find your ip adress. Go to your phone open remote adb shell put in your ip adress and 5555 on the second line click connect . Now you have two possibilities either remove the current launcher or disable it if you want to keep it
issue the following command
pm uninstall –-user 0 com.google.android.tvlauncher
if you want to reinstall the old launcher the command is as follow
cmd package install-existing com.google.android.tvlauncher
Go back to your android TV and you should now have the google tv launcher , as a side note some countries might need to use a VPN to make it work properly although it was launched officially cheers.

I'm trying to get this on a Nvidia Shield TV 2017 specifically for the purposes of having voice search work in sideloaded apps and browsers. You need to highlight the text, right click and copy into your browser or select search. The files are there. Not everything is an easy link in the hacker world. You must do the work and think.
Great , the steps you describe are working fine. I'm successfully able to install.

Im having a hard time finding "google_base.apk". Thanks to Mattc001 for attaching the xlauncher 1.1.11, I couldn't find that version, only 1.0.xx so ... yes your right, there should be some homework needed to be applied, it sure helps though when the files or "requirements" are attached. For one, it's trusted that the software used is the trusted one from the OP. Secondly, ... just revert to one.
@Mattc001 Could you please elaborate on the "google_base.apk" ... where to find? Is it under a different title name vs. file name? I'm really interesting in your findings. I just recently acquired a TCL with Android TV or maybe its Google TV and would really like to take advantage of tweaks, mods, and things to better enjoy the experience and boost performance.
Thanks in advance.

Why not ? Do you know how to sideload apks ? make sure you are in developer mode and select usb configuration to MTP
Instead of Google_Base I added another version "com.google.android.katniss_6.12.20221010.3-14001602_minAPI24 (armeabi-v7a, x86) (nodpi) _apkmirror.com" Apparently this is it. Everything works but I have to be on VPN USA all the time because otherwise Home or the tab for you - it does not appear at all and I have an error. There is a chance to bypass the need to use vpn from the USA for the home tab to work? Thanks
