Rooting Android TV box
I think the TV boxes are already rooted. They are just like an Android tablet, minus the screen.
You just need to install superuser app and the file manager app (eg Total Commander) to enable you to change file permissions. Of course, it will help a lot if you connect up to a screen, keyboard and mouse.
Hope this helps.
Hi everyone , I've tried rooting my tablet for quite some time now , I've tried every root application I could find ( Oneclickroot , SRSOne click root , KingRoot , KingORoot , framaroot , towelroot etc) none of these seems to work.
Here is my device's specs:
(Used SRS One Click to get my device's specs)
TELEFUNKEN TEL1013GIQ
Manufacturer: alps
Model: TEL1013GIQ
Android Version: 4.4.2
Build ID: MT83X2_MR900Z_MR100Z1H1CW1.2014121918
Board ID: mr900
Chipset Platform:
I couldn't find anywhere on the web for a custom rom for this device or a method to root it , the main reason I want to root it is because i'm trying to install an application called Hearthstone ( but this tablet has two types of capacity , USB Storage and Internal Storage and the game tries to install it in the Internal Storage and the only way around this is to root this device in order to change some stuff. ) Help would be appreciated .
bump
help please

Now you understand my urge of desperate help , I've even tried universal root ( where you need Ubuntu) but that didn't seem to work as well.. Is it possible to dump my rom without it having root access and send it to someone here on XDA to root it? Help would really be appreciated.
try (iroot) using PC

Good day Vrah2.
It has been a while since your first post, but I thought it to be worthwhile to tell you what has worked for me. It seems I have the exact same tablet as you, and I am also trying to increase the Internal Storage size.
The answer I found on this thread: [Q] Root + recovery Acer Iconia Tab 7 A1-713 after determining that both these tablets use the Mediatek MTK8382 processors /SOC. The answer given there, is to use KingRoot which I see you said you tried. The version I installed is KingRoot V4.5.0.901 that I got from androidxda.
Just a note that it initially didn't work as it displayed a message about not bring rooted. However there is a button somewhere along the process, something like "Try to get root". This is a bit vague but unfortunately I didn't not pay enough attention as I didn't think it would really work. Good luck, and if you have more questions don't hesitate to ask.

Hello vrah2,
If you haven't found a solution yet for your root process, I'm here to help you but then I'm gonna need a backed up rom of your device, because my tablet is bricked and only an original rom can save it.
Thank you in advance!
Hello all, thanks in advance for your help! I have a problem and am looking for some advice as I have tried everything I can think of.
I own this cruddy generic tablet which somehow became riddled with malware and I recently realised after a factory reset that the malware is actually pre-installed. I'm pretty sure I know what the offending applications are (one of them is even named 'popup' - well cheeky) but I am unable to remove or disable them, including through 3rd party software like AVG and Avast.
I think I need to root it so I can either get rid of the malware or install a custom rom. However all the root applications which I install on the tablet fail; when I get error messages they're usually to the effect that the tablet is not vulnerable to a given exploit. Most of the PC (Windows 10) applications I have installed have failed to recognise the tablet which suggests a problem with drivers.
I have tried these things:
- connected to the device (mass storage mode) and browsed the tablet successfully
- verified that debug mode is enabled
- installed generic google adb drivers
- uninstalled those and other drivers, then installed pda.net, allowed it to install drivers, connected successfully using pda, KingRoot etc still failed to connect.
There is one thing that sort of worked. OneClickRoot failed to connect initially (same as the others) but seemed to connect successfully when I selected the device manually (which I found by plugging in the build #).. However it's not possible to verify because it cost $40 which is probably just throwing good $ after bad and anyway I'm not willing to admit defeat yet!
Here is the spec:
Model #: Q90
9 inch
Allwinner A23 Dual Core
Android 4.2
8GB
Build #: phpq23083121891
Thanks again in advance for your help!

Hello!
I have a 'smart feature phone' that apparently runs a heavily modified version of android 8.1. I am wondering if there is any method that I can use to install custom apks. Here's what I've tried so far:
-Downloading an apk file amd using the file manager to install it: caused an error (see picture)
-Enable dev options and activate usb debugging for adb: pressing build number does nothing. pressing other lines does nothing.
The weird thing is in theory it has the ability to install and update facebook and whatsapp through the internet. In addition I cannot seem to remove any icons on the home screen, nor is there any setting fpr specific applications.
Any ideas on what I can do? Any possible exploits that I can utilise on 8.1 to enable adb? I'm stuck here.
