As some of you know the Google Camera app with HDR On is great to shot low light pictures. However OP5 users as myself aren’t as lucky when using the modded Google Camera app as as users from other devices.
With OP5 we have bugs that seem to be applicable only to our case: touch to focus not working along HDR & dots pattern issue visible when you zoom in certain pictures shot with the modded camera.
Therefore I would like to ask for a favor to the first OP5T owners:
Download and install this modded camera app (I pick this version because it’s simple without tons of settings)
Test if touch to focus work when HDR is enabled and if the picture is saved (do not confuse touch to focus with touch to change main point of exposure)
Shot some pictures with low light
Feedback in this thread
If someone want to try one of the last versions of the app, then you can download it from here (shout out to Kisakuku).
The last modded version as per today 21st November is "MGC_5.1.016_7.0+C2API_v.1.3a_AllinOne.apk", but as I said the new new versions contain lot of settings that make it really time consuming to find the appropriate ones for each device.
That’s why in the OP I posted just the last version of Google Camera app with the minimum edits needed to get the HDR feature working on any Android 7.1.1 / Snapdragon 835 phones.
Yeah I dl "MGC_5.1.016_7.0+C2API_v.1.3a_AllinOne.apk"
No working focus touch
The picture is saved
They both seem pretty bad but I'm not an expert.

Are those 2 pictures that you uploaded shot with HDR On? Which settings are you using?
In OP5 depending on the combination of settings used in the app touch to focus can work or not work, but usually it’s hit and miss so it can stop working randomly.
Do you notice small dots when you zoom in on the pictures shot with GoogleCam and HDR On?
I just would like to know if OP5T has the same bugs with the ported GoogleCam has the same bugs that we have on OP5.
To make it more clear on which version and settings to use:
Please test this most recent version: https://drive.google.com/open?id=149yvCKyk2F75z_snuSjbivKF5PiWtkT9
with these settings from the screenshots: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74417844&postcount=1215
In "Advanced" settings, enable HDR+ control right at the top!
Afterwards restart the camera app (completely swipe it away from recent apps), restart it and set the HDR+ toggle to "HDR+ Enhanced".
It is also important to get some shots in daylight, as the OP5 had issues with a constantly visible dot pattern in light areas.
Also please do not upload the shots directly through the forum, as they get downsampled and compressed. Use an imagehoster like abload.de for example, or even Google Photos.
Of course it is even better to additionally post a similar shot you took with the stock camera app, so we get a better picture of how this mod works on the OP5T.
Thanks for testing!

Seems gcam's got a tendency towards a cooler white balance..same thing happens on the Essential phone. Which would you say best matches reality, color-wise?
I don't know about color but the OP is suffering from pretty major loss in detail. There's a couple of spots of light creeping through that's clearly visible in the GCam but not so much in the OP. The OP is also suffering from a lot of graininess... the top left corner next to the suitcase is a good example.
@randumbore:
Did you follow AcmE85 instructions from post #5 in this thread?

Yes, all settings are as mentioned in #5. I don't believe Touch to Focus is working, all it's doing is changing point of exposure (although I've never used TTF before so I could very well be wrong). Also the post-processing is incredibly quick with HDR+ Enhanced enabled. Coming from a Nexus 6p where it used to take ages, I can't tell if the OPT5T is just that fast or the HDR+ is just not working on the GCam app.

You could set the processing to medium or super high to see if it makes a difference in speed.
Should take much longer on the highest setting.

Ah you're right, setting it to super high did take a long time. Not a whole lot of change in the end result, but yeah.

How else do you focus if not by touching exactly where you want the camera to focus?!?

One more question, I found a thread from MickyFoley, maybe you could try this out for him (and me and I suppose lots of others)!
quote MickyFoley:
Dear owners of an OnePlus 5T and maybe 5 too,
please grant me an answer to a really important question: Is the Camera2-API bug fixed for the OP5T or is it still valid and OnePlus didn't do anything against it?
Please do following:
Download Open Camera > Go to settings > Scroll down > Switch on Camera2-API > Cover the rear camera with your hand > Read the values at the very top of your screen:
• If ISO 799 and 1/16,7 is still here: Nothing was fixed. Please leave a reply.
• If values differ from those values (ISO 799 1/16,7) OnePlus finally fixed the Camera2 API. Please also leave a reply.
Thanks in advance.

Gallery photo preview not working
I am on Lineage OS rom on p20 pro. Everything with this camera is working EXCEPT for after taking a picture, when I tap on the photo gallery preview at the bottom left circle of the camera app screen, it goes into a black screen. The only way if I want to view the pics that I took is if I open manually the gallery app itself. Is there a fix to this issue please? I want to view the pics that I took within the camera app itself instead of manually switching into the gallery app.
The camera quality is the same as stock? Huge if true. The only reason why I stick to stock roms is for the cam.

The gallery issue is something present across all Kirin devices running Lineage/Treble ROMs. I don't think a simple install of the gallery app will help as there are certain missing files associated with it but I'm unsure as to what those files are.
I have gallery issue (not open gallery from camera app)and front camera issue (no photo saved in internal SD card)
Please confirm mate....what about is portrait mode???

I don't have it no, but I would imagine it would be the same as users of the Mate 10, P10 etc. are experiencing.
I had tried with my P10 to install the EMUI gallery app in the past and although it installed it just failed to open (fc everytime).
Not rooted on my P20 Pro so I'm not sure I can pull the Gallery app from the priv-app folder (assuming it's located there).

Ok so something would need to be done to get the gallery app functional but i'm pretty sure that that is how you're going to be able to view straight from the camera app, maybe there's some other part to it which has to be present, i'm not too sure.

Thanks been waiting for this, didnt want to update to beta 6 just for the camera..
Does this run fine on Oreo or does it require Pie?
Try it. Not sure if it checks the SDK number or not. Worst that happen is you remove it and restore the camera backup you should make before removing old and installing new camera apk
Be aware that while it does install in stable 9.0 OOS, the nightscape thing doesn't do anything to the final photo (already did comparisons). I've read reports of it working on OB6 so stable users have to wait for an update.
It freezes the camera app for me. Uninstalled.

Do we have to use with flash?
I'm having some issues with the new camera on 9.0.2. The night mode actually looks worse because it seems to apply a weird oil painting effect and it blurs out details. Aside from that the portrait mode edge detection and blur quality is absolutely garbage. There is no way to change the "beauty" filter now apparently (the slider for it was removed?). And I can't get the studio lighting feature to work.
Can anyone help?

Night mode is what it is and can be further improved, it's just software. About beauty mode, yes the slider is still there. If it isn't for you try to clean flash. Studio Lightning is, from what I've read, something that happens automatically for portrait pictures, meaning it isn't a mode/slider/option.

You never specified which camera you were talking about so how would I be sure? The answer is no in that case. Slider isn't there but then again, if this is a feature request or a missing feature report, you should post that information in the official stable thread for OOS.
Lowlight vs preset. (Updated)
*•*photo 1. standard auto hdr.
*•*photo 2. iso :2000 shutter at 0.4 with manual wb at 4200+/-
*•*photo 3. iso : 400 shutter at 5 and wb at 4060k.
*•*photo 4. iso : 1600 shutter at 8 and wb at 4060k (extreme low light conditions)
Tripod used : Tripod was used for shot 3 and 4, I used a $5 one with a $1 phone mount. Something an everyday consumer would be able to get.
*Update*
(salt attack prevention)
added shot for gcam too.
Gcambuild: GoogleCamera_6.1.013.216795316-debug2.apk
Onepluscam: 2.10.5
OOS : 9.0.1
Rooted.
*Update 2*
Added* Extreme low light conditions test shots.
Comments:
obviously leaving the shutter open draws in more light but it also captures more yellow. so i just manually tune that and save it as a preset. because night photos usually need to be cooled. I tried to use as low iso as possible in the settings to try reduce any unnecessary noise caused by high iso.
photo 2's settings are nice if you dont have tripod. as you can see the noise is significantly decreased and has way better sharpness. but still kept relatively the same exposure.
then for settings of the 3rd photo are my favorite. you need a tripod. but i mean it cames out amazing. even beats low light mode.
The 4th photo and settings are for extreme low light conditions and you'll need a tripod too.

Here is a full working Google Pixel Camera V.5.1 with HDR+ and 4K Video Record (30FPS) for the S7 Exynos modded by IDan1109 :
Video only works in 1920x1080p (Full Hd) I also set the Picture Quality from 97 to 100 and Picture back camera to 16/9 and i set "Remove the ISO limit in dark conditions" - on
FOR 4K VIDEO RECORDING and Hevc activate hevc in devloper options from Gcam app and install the Magisk Modul Samsung UHD Camera2 Fix and ARCore from Playstore
Tested on S7 Exynos! Dont change to 60 FPS in video Mode otherwise you must uninstall and install the app again for video to work again. The pictures with HDR+ are much better compared with Zero Camera Mod HDR.

Hi guys! In this quick mod guide i will show you how to enable 960fps slow motion on regular oneplus 7 pro.
You need to be root and running preferences manager app. And oneplus camera version 3.10.17
Here is what you need to do:
Open preferences manager app and search for camera 0 and 5 xmls.
On each xml you hit the plus button and add a new string set called Video960FpsSizes.
On the value you write 1280x720
Save both xmls and you are done! Now a third 960 fps option will appear on slow motion mode
Shoutout to @docnok63 for his initial research and ideas.
If anyone adds it to a magisk mode or patch, dont forget about us on a small mention just out of cortesy :good:
Thanks for sharing!
Health!

Hello, and thank you for the tutorial, the 960 fps Slow motion option is available and functional too.however, it runs for just a couple of seconds and it stops by its own ( the recorded video is 10 seconds duration) ..is that normal?
The camera version is 3.10.17
Thank you
Just tested and works, thanks for this!
I also changed Max Zoom in CameraInfo_5.xml "MaxDigitalZoom" from 10.0 to 80.0
and
Activated Macro mode in CameraInfo_3.xml "IsUWMacroSupported" from "false" to "true" , both work perfectly
Where do you get the latest Camera from? I'm stuck on 3.8.114.

Sorry to ask you but while you snap 960 fps slow mode ... Does the video shooting stops by its own? ( In my side it snaps about 3 to 4 seconds only)
Thnx

Yes it stops by itself, you only record around 1 seconds real time which is around 10 sec in 960Fps. Not sure if that is possible to change.
I'm playing with the settings, if i find something useful i'll let you know.

Hi, can someone make a detailed instruction that you need to add manually to XML?

Why not use the preferences manager app? Most easy way to do it.
On version 3.10.19 will not work as I understand it?

It works
In version 3.10.19 works ?
For me as soon as I open Camera, Preference Manager force closes. I have tried it on both 3.10.17 and 3.10.19. It didn't matter if I reinstalled after I completed removed the camera and restarted the phone, or just over the previous version. What could be causing this?
I do as in the instructions I add values to 0.xml and 5.xml, after saving to the camera a black screen only helps reset the cache, OOS beta 14, what am I doing wrong?

Hi.
Are you sure you're adding the keys as a "string set" and not just a "string".

Just don't search for the app
Am i the only one? When i updated the camera app to 3.10.19 my recent apps changed....
Anyone managed to get this to work on a custom ROM? For me on RR It's just a black screen and freezes all the cameras until I restart it.

Download extract and replace those files with the files on /data/data/com.oneplus.camera/shared_prefs
Goto app info and force close camera and open it.
You get macro, 80x zoom and 920fps.
Your oneplus launcher was updated..that is why your recents changed.
