ATT Experience - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Been looking at buying a OP6 for a little bit now, any ATT users out there care to comment on experience?

It works fine from what other users have stated, you will not get VoLTE or Wifi Calling though.

How do you get VoLTE? I have the Magisk provision on my phone and it's always on H or H+ when I'm making or receiving calls. I even called AT&T to make sure HD voice was turned on for my account, it is.

Up to 5.1.11 VoEnabler worked for me.
Pie ob1/ob2 I had to manually copy and paste those settings into the build prop.

Weird, the VoEnabler never worked for me.

Have you verified those lines were added to your build prop? Or copy and pasted yourself?

Verizon Pixel phones are getting their own Android 7.1.2 build (NHG47K)

I own Verizon Pixel, but I use it on T-Mobile. Maybe someone who knows can comment if my device will get that new build(NHG47K) or this is strictly for users that use Verizon sim.

Would be interesting to see if you will get the new build: NHG47K
Verizon Pixel on Verizon with N2G47E as well though I did the OTA manually rather than wait for it to appear. I do this every month. Have had no issues with the phone.
Much prefer to do updates on my schedule rather than on someone else's in case there is issues with the update.
got mine through verizon. dloaded and installed nhg47k yesterday. nothing bad to report.
I got a Google play store pixel and I use it on Verizon I also received the Verizon build is there any differences

So looks like users on Verizon network are getting this build. Link in the first post shows change log.
It does work pretty good so far as I can tell very smooth
I updated and my VOLTE is broken . I factory reset and still nothing. Verizon said it's a known issue
Does anyone have a download link to the Verizon specific OTA, please?

A couple of things that may help you out on the VoLTE option, including bringing back HD Voice calling and Video Calling. Same thing happened to me on the new build. I went into the the *#*#4636#*#* Phone information menu and ensured that VoLTE Provisioned and other options are turned on. For me I need to decline the HD feature and re-enable...for you probably a call to Verizon. Takes just a few moment to do and didnt have to reboot. Viola' HD Voice and Video Calling were back. Good luck

The only difference between N2G47J and NHG47K is the radio image (modem.img). NHG47K has a newer radio.
Sounds bout right
The K update has done nothing for the weak cell signal. Time will tell if it does anything about dropped and missed calls.

I never had such problems even with old firmware versions. I know that some people have them, but it looks like these issues are location dependent, so I wouldn't expect updates to fix it.

VOLTE on ATT

so... im on ATT.. i have a OP3 and when i switched to omnirom 8.1 . all of a sudden my VOLTE and VOWIFI started working... but of course when i upgraded to OP6 VOLTE went away with the same sim. if i pop the sim back into my op3 with omni, boom volte works and i can make HD calls. but on stock op6 its a no go. i have seen the threads where u can root and enable it . but i dont know how exactly that works. if u can do that with root. why cant oneplus enable it on there stock rom? how can omnirom make it work but not oneplus? and switching to something like tmobile is not a option for me..

Yes, you can enable it with root/magisk and magisk module called VoEnabler. HD calls work fine on ATT once you have this installed.
Only 1+ could answer why they don't enable this out of the box. Pretty frustrating.

I thought I saw a setting under the AT&T settings (SIM1) that said to to use VoLTE whenever possible. Does this not enable it?

Usually it won't even be an option if ur using att on a OP.
My OP6 doesn't have that option with AT&T, but it does with T-Mobile. I tried the VoEnabler module and now I see WiFi calling and VoLTE as options with AT&T.

Att wifi calling

I was able to setup wifi calling on att, but is set to mobile preferred, anyway to change this? At least on phone app settings I cannot change it to wifi calling preferred.

I just set mine up, and can't find the option either. I just googled this problem and it appears the same thing happened on the Pixel 2. One guy said that he called Pixel support and they said that it isn't possible to set wifi calling to preferred. Apparently wifi calling will kick in when needed. I tried it just now, and it seems to be working.

Excellent to have Wifi Calling on Att finally on our pixels!:good:
I was wondering if wifi calling would work with at&t. If I remember right hd calling worked with the p2 with the right sim and getting it provisioned on your line but wifi calling didn't work. That only worked on phones from at&t. There were a couple places that I needed wifi calling and it came in handy. One was in a couple places at work with bad cell service and another was in a friend's home in the mountains of PA. wifi but no cell towers around. If wifi calling works at all I'll be glad.

Yeah I'm surprised also. I always missed wifi calling on my Pixel 2 XL. I definitely works on my Pixel 3 xl on AT&T, you just can't set wifi calling to preferred.

Wifi calling does work, I tried a test call and it worked fine. I'm glad, because I live in an area where the cell signal is very weak.

That's great that it works. I would only need it when cell is unavailable. I sold my p2xl and had an s9+ for a while. That was a mistake. It was a good phone but I need my pixel back. Thanks for the info.
If I remember right that's how all the pixels are even on Verizon.
No option to make WiFi calling preferred.
At least it is working on Att because previous ones did not.
On my Pixel 2 XL, on TMobile, I have the option to set wifi calling to preferred. My 3 had not arrived to check yet. I do not have the setting in your screenshot for the emergency address.

What service do you have?
I know on Verizon you could never make it preferred, and Att never worked.
Unless Verizon changed after I changed carriers

This is what we see on AT&T...we don't have the option to select calling preference.
Guys!! This is a huge win for pixels and non at&t branded phone lovers!!! Never before in the history of at&t and Android has VoWiFi worked on non at&t branded phones.. I couldn't believe my stroke of good luck when I tested it today!! Thank you thank you Google. I had switched to TMobile because of this and carried at&t as secondary to fill in the gaps.. but i may just switch back.. so happy.. also, TMobile is the only American carrier that let's you prefer wifi calling over mobile.. so no dice there.. but hey, I'll take it.. and you can always enable airplane mode and force wifi calling.
Also, I tested tonight in a poor at&t coverage area and it seemed to switch between wifi and cellular calling just fine!!

If it does for you that's great...I tried it for 24 hrs. Had no signal my whole day while work in my office. So no go for me, even with it being a lot cheaper service.
I do hope they keep improving though, for competition purposes.

Yes they do! In so many ways and areas. And they have improved so much in the last year. I travel a lot and love watching coverage and I could name dozens and dozens of new towers. But they need 100s and 100s to compete.. let's hope the Sprint/tmo merger got through. It would be awesome to have reliable competition to dumb and dumber.

North American version compatibility with US T-Mobile network

Is anyone here using the North American Moto One Hyper on T-Mobile's US network? I'm trying to find out if VoLTE and VoWiFi works. I know the phone has the bands for T-Mobile 4G and 3G.
Update: I've reached out to Motorola via Twitter asking about compatibility. If I get an answer I'll update my post.
Update 2: Got a reply that is bad news for me:
https://mobile.twitter.com/GumbyXGames/status/1228348189008371712
The Moto One Hyper does not have the Android One program as well. As per checking, it does not support VoLTE also. -Rica
It's 80% compatible
No VoLTE
No Wi-Fi Calling
All the rest works as it's supposed to

I do not use Wi-Fi Calling as I've always had issues with it, no matter which phone I am using.

I ordered #2 unit, and hopefully VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling will work with the latest build number you stated.
Wi-Fi Calling is not necessary but VoLTE is a must because it knocks back to H when making a call and this makes connection lost where only LTE is available.
For that reason, I attempted to flash Z4 Android 10 radio to get VoLTE working, and the screen continuously flashing after that.
The phone is completely dead (no bootloader, no 9008) and I bought G Power. However, I miss pop-up front cam and 100% screen

Now it won G Stylus except you want CDMA
Can also confirm, everything works on latest stock and omni.

Happy to help
A little heads up though to get anything other than WiFi working I did have to go into the SIM settings and turn on mobile data as well as enable VoLTE and VoWiFi, not sure if that was related to activating it on release day or because it's the global model on T-Mobile (didn't really look into it since it was just flipping 3 settings then everything just worked).
