is there an unofficial store for tizen apps? - Samsung Gear Sport

Dear all
I have just bought the Samsung gear sport, super nice.
I have noticed that there are very few apps on the official Samsung store. Is there any way to access some "non official" stores for app? any suggestion on where to look?
Thank you very much in advance

Tizen Eco System is ONLY from Samsung...
Samsung Rules...
This is why in main only Watch Faces...
Best Regards

Thank you
So it means we cannot install anything else outside of the Samsung app store?
What is the function "allow unknown sources" for?
Thank you

Alot of apps
You know people say there are few apps on the Gear app store but if find it's about the same as Android and Apple.. though Apple Watch is more supported. But there is plenty to find if you dig in past the suggestions screen. There are alot of watchfaces yes, but i suppose lots of choice is not a bad thing. There's a lack of podcast companion apps is the only problem for me.

Samsung Gear Apps [store]

Why can I see paid apps in the store only by using a Samsung phone?
Anybody? And will Samsung change that soon?

Got the same problem, with HTC One M9 + Gear s2...
The reason is, that the Samsung App Store has an own payment method instead of goole play store's method...
At the moment, you cant pay for samsung app on a non-samsung device, so it doesnt listing the paid apps, only the free ones...
BUT: today, i've signed in with my accounnt on a samsung mobile device (galaxy 24 mini), paired my watch, paid some apps, installed it.
when i have paired it back again with my M9, the installed apps disappeared (soft reset when pairing a deivce), and the apps that i paid on a samsung device, still doesnt appears on the M9 store
Just an idea, tried it out, but doesnt work
is there any way, to save the app from the watch (when i bought is, and installed it from a samsung device), and re install it (with the saved installer) from the non-samsung device?

I imagine there are technical problems for Samsung to make paid apps open to all, but it can't be an insurmountable problem, and it would be good for consumers and developers if they opened the paid apps to non-Samsung phones. Samsung is a giant corporation and so not particularly easy to contact or persuade, but I wonder if developers started a petition that might help persuade Samsung to fix this situation.
I've got a oneplus one - just wondering if they're are any worthwhile paid apps that I'm missing out on?

It mainly depends on what you want to do with your watch. I bought the app My Notes in Gear. It let's you create notes and task lists on your phone and sync these with your watch. I am also using komoot which is a free app but didn't show in the Gear store with a non Samsung phone. For me it was reason enough to switch the phone...
I am not hundred percent sure. I was having the same issue (not a big deal as I also had a Samsung phone, so I switched). When utilizing a Samsung phone, there are way more free applications and the paid applications are accessible too. Also, I believe the store has a slightly different layout.
I read somewhere that said someone contacted Samsung. They replied saying that they were working on a fix, but the reason was that they weren't able to accept payments (or some other payment issue) on non-Samsung devices.
I am sure it will be fixed soon. Hold tight!
If I connect my gear s2 to a Samsung phone to get access to paid apps and watchfaces and download them to the watch will they still be there when I switch back to my non Samsung phone?
I'm mainly talking about watch faces at this time. It seems like all the good digital ones are hidden to me now.
And maybe ultimately a good thing, but with the most recent Gear app update (for your phone), the layout of the app changed, and I noticed a recommended app at the bottom that wouldn't install. I suspect this app (can't recall which one) was an app that Samsung phone users can install, and the rest of us can't. My theory is this was either an outright error, or may portend non-Samsung phone users eventually getting access to at least more apps, if not paid apps.

if you pairing the watch to other device, every time you need to soft reset is (than the installed apps is gone). :crying:

Unavalible applications in Samsung Gear Apps store

Hi all,
I hope some one can advise in my question:
I can't find some applications in Samsung Gear Apps store, i 100% shure that such applications exist and available for gear s2 (for example Sleep As Android addon)
I suppose it's some restrictions for smartphone type - i use Meizu pro 5, while guys with samsung smartphones easelly can find and install it.
Maybe there is some way to make GEar app think that it installed on samsung device ?
Paid apps are not available yet in the Samsung Store for Gear S2 paired with a non-samsung smartphone. There are many threads complaining about it.

Sleep as Android addon is free app.
Paid apps are available for users of non-Samsung phones, as of several months ago (although I guess maybe some countries aren't up to date with this?).
The problem with certain apps not showing up for some people (I still can't download the Uber app, for example) seems to be that when uploading their apps to the store, developers need to activate the listing for every possible combination of phone and wearable - and some combinations, for unexplained reasons, end up being disabled. The developer of Wearable Widgets talks about this in a G+ post here: https://plus.google.com/+SterlingUdell/posts/RbswZqw8KQ5.
It might be worth contacting the developer and letting them know your specific phone and wearable, and asking them to check if they've enabled the app for that combination. If they're unable to because it's disabled by Samsung, we need to wait for Samsung to fix this ridiculous system....
I don't find the snoopy watchface with s7 edge

Paid Apps in GearStore on Non-Samsung Phones

I know there are lots of threads about this, trust me I read all of them. In some threads I read paid apps were available for non-samsung phones.
I connected Gear S2 to my LG G3. As of today, I still can't download paid apps especially cool watch faces and the phone remote.
Help me please! Is there some kind of country lock at work here?
Can I trick the store into thinking I have a samsung phone (Tried altering build.prop but gear plugin stopped working, maybe you guys have an alternative).
Or contact some devs who has apps that need a companion app from playstore (make that a paid app instead)
I'm desperate. Sorry for my bad english.
You must contact Samsung about that issue. Maybe they can help you somehow, get some advice. Still there are a lot of free watch faces or free version of paid apps with limited functionality. Last time I installed free watch face called Animated Matrix Watch. It is free and works fully, I recommend. I think there is a lot of good, free watch faces for Gear S2, especially that smartwatch.

Thanks a lot! But I'm still looking forward to the day I could use my Gear s2 as a camera shutter or control stuff.

Gear S3 app store?

Is there a way to look at the App Store for the Gear S3? I read variously about '10000 of faces and apps' but also about limited apps. So I'd like to see what apps are available.
You can browse the App Store through the Samsung Gear app.

it is more like "10000 of faces and some apps", there are really too many watchfaces since there is a easy to use designer (http://developer.samsung.com/gear/design/watch-designer) but app section is indeed limited.
Don't be fooled by the numbers, there are probably less than two dozen apps by major developers. The vast majority of apps are watchfaces. Tizen has relatively small library and that is likely to remain the case for the foreseeable future.
If you're concerned about app selection, the S3 isn't for you. The key to not being disappointed is to think in terms of what tasks you want the smartwatch to perform, and making sure the watch can do it.

I have one of these and it really is a beautiful watch and feels like a quality product. It also works really well. HOWEVER, just as evryone else is saying, the APP Store is VERY limited ... which is a shame given that Samsung have done such an excellent job on the watch. Why they didn't include a Compass; I have no idea. Also, why they (or someone else - "Here Maps" ???) have not brought out a REAL standalone Mapping App I feel is a HUGE mistake. Even if you could only download a 50sq mile area and keep that updated (or change it when you travel) it would make a huge difference to the watch. Anyway, great watch ....
Main problem is Tizen Eco System with only Samsung in position of playing "God"...
Blabla only trusted blabla "Authority" bla blabla...
Dear user, According to Tizen security policy all the apps should be from signed trusted authority. Tizen does not allow any side loaded app and any other format installation as a policy. All app installations supported via Tizen Store only. Stay tuned on Tizen community for further updates. Thanks, Tizen team

On the other hand...
Users are scared to sideload apps...
I mean we have this funny situation with Mobiles more then 4 years...
Examples.
Video Calling apps are generally blocked...
Funny contracts with 'Operators in my opinion... to get more money...
imo, Skype, etc. are working fine with help of ACL...
Cool apps known from Android world... like TCP IP stuff...
not allowed...
Shell not allowed...
They are scared users can do tooooo much...
Btw...
I have just for fun edited my old S8530... bada handset... to enter Gear S3 or S2 store...
I am able to download TPKs... because they use same mechanism since years...
And I have no Gear watch.
NO idea why they force users to use Gear Manager... to explore the big "big" world of Tizen...
Tizen Store and also Gear store is simple Server... "HTTP crap"...
No idea why they not allow to use Computer and visit Website to check whats new.. or amazing...
Best Regards
Edit 1.
Added 2 Screenshots...
Taken with my good old Wave II (GT-S8530)... with old Kona Version...
No idea, 3 years minimum or older...
Only added Model SM-R760 to .ini
I can not see all, but few...
Samsung do some minor changs to their Shop site... but in main it is ever the same SH.T...

I think that reply, and the others in this thread, miss the point. In order to use the "Gear App" you have to have a Samsung Gear watch to pair the phone to. Otherwise the app will not run.
I believe what the OP was asking, and certainly what I want to know, is.... is there a way to browse the "many" downloadable watch faces BEFORE you buy the watch? That would require some sort of online access to the download site WITHOUT using the app..
Can anyone answer this? I'm considering buying one of these, but I don't like ANY of the faces that come with the watch, so I'd like to see what's available for download before buying the watch.
Thanks in advance.
I have the Frontier, and I love it. Just remember...it is a WATCH....not a tablet of computer. The available apps are more than enough for my needs, and the watch looks like a watch, which is more than i can say about Apples kiddy/candy looking effort IMHO. Battery life is now excellent, and it feels like a quality product.

Anyway to download apps that are not available anymore in gear store?

Hey guys,
i just bought my first smartwatch and am pretty excited about it.
Anyway I was searching what apps are available to download for my S2 and saw that Yelp made an app called Yelp for Gear. I was trying to search for this app but nothing popped up in gear store and it seems like for some reason they took it down from the store.
Now I know that you can sideload apps just like the phone so i am wondering if there is a website like apkmirror where they store all the apps (but for our s2) so you can download and sideload them yourself?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry.
In Tizen World most users are scared to backup... so also "sharing" backups.
This is also big difference to Android...
Best Regards
