Is there any way to install Android 5 or Android 7 on PX5 2gb or px5 4gb core board? That would be really interesting because especially Android 5 should be fast as hell then...
Really? No ideas? Nobody?

OK so Pretty soon Im going to be moving to Russia and I would really like to get my new tablet before moving there. It's also going to be an 8 hour flight so yeah I need something that can really keep me entertained with 0 lag etc etc.
And yes, I know you'll be thinking. ''but this guy has all the specs what does he need help with decision making for?'' To answer that, I don't really know what it is that makes a tablet considered to be GREAT! I know the processor, and the ghz and the ram and a few other things have something to do with it but i don't know how they weigh against each other in importance. Rank your answer please

Good luck!
Thank you, thread closed.
I'm interested in buying one of these units for my BMW E46 but before spending my money i need some information for clearing my doubts. Hope you guys can help me!
1) These units came with preinstalled Google Play or i can sideload it and they came "pre-rooted"?
2) Can i use Sygic Navigation software with this units? If not what gps car navigation software i can install in them?
3) Some of this units have a CD-Rom/DVD-Rom reader, is only for "videos" like DVD-Video or Video-CD or Audio CD and a CD full of MP3 songs can be played through of the reader?
4) On the net was a lot of vendors, producers, resellers and models which of them is the best for support, reliability and eventually some modding?
I'm sorry for the long list of question, for my bad english and thanks in advance at who spend a little of time for helping me.
1) Yes they come installed with a proper version of Android including Google Play. However, many people have found that applying a custom ROM using gapps or MicroG improves performance a great deal
2) Yes you can use Sygic with these units, I use it on mine.
3) You can use a CD full of MP3s, yes. Or even a DVD.
4) There are actually very few versions of the hardware available. Most models from various sellers will be matched with hardware from other sellers.
My recommendation: go for MTCD/MTCE PX5 4GB Ram and Android 8 from any manufacturer/seller you found (not all manufacturers biuld specific models for all car brands/model)
Thanks to all for the replyes, i found two units that can be good in my opinion:
Eonon GA7150A android 6 RK-PX5 A53 Octa-core 2GB ram 32GB rom
Eonon GA8150A android 7.1 T8 Octa-Core A7 1.8GHz 2GB ram 32GB rom
One is with Rockchip CPU, the other in with Allwinner CPU, what you think is a good buy for performaces, hardware and custom roms and modding?
PS: i'm unable to find units with 4GB ram and Android 8 installed that fit my BMW E46.

Thanks for your reply, this is Eonon GA7150A:
https://www.eonon.com/Android-Car-GPS/Vehicle-Specific-GPS/BMW-E46-Android-60-Octa-Core-Car-Stereo-GPS-Navigation-System-With-Steering-Wheel-Control-WiFi-Connection.html?Catype=1
In your suggested Dasaita unit, canbus for steering wheel is included in package or i need buy it?
I think Eonon is a GS unit, better GS or Dasaita for customer support and/or future modding like custom rom or applications?
Eonon unit is shipped from Germany, i live in Italy, your suggested Dasaita? Never buyed from Aliexpress, is a sure seller?
Thanks for your patience.

I did order mine from Dasaita to Mexico.
I think dasaita has a European warehouse to avoid paying custom taxes

Hi,
I would like to buy an Android unit for my car.
I have found two models with differents specs : Android 8.0 Rockchip PX5 with 4GB RAM / Android 7.1 Allwinner T8 with 2GB RAM
I would like to know what is the best choice ?
PX5 4GB RAM seems to be theorically better but is it stable ? Or T8 is a more stable even if less powerful ?
Thank you !
Go for the 4gb octacore

Thank you, and is it very better than T8/2GB ? Because the T8/2GB version seems to offer more functionnality to my car
If you search around there will be a px5 with all the features you want, aliexpress is your best bet imo

Yes I have found it, from the same manufacturer there are 2 models, one with PX5 and the other with T8. The T8 have a connectivity more important than PX5 model but PX5 is more powerful with 4GB RAM.
And what functionality is that?

T8/2GB permits to keep factory microphone, factory USB and factory AUX connectors.
PX5 : http://www.androidautoplayer.com/pr..._RDS_4GB_RAM_8"_HD_IPS_Screen_stereo-351.html
T8 (with 2GB/32GB instead of 1GB/16GB) : http://www.androidautoplayer.com/pr...h_HD_1024*600_Capacitive_Touch_Screen-46.html
Hi @Nico8583,
Did you make a choice since July ?
I would probably buy an android unit for my car, too. I found this one (same manufacter as you) : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/8-IPS-Display-Android-8-0-Car-DVD-For-Suzuki-SX4-S-Cross-2014-2015-2016/32893702308.html?spm=a2g0s.13010208.99999999.278.77983c00oydmRu
Did you buy this one ? If yes, can you tell me if everything is ok or not ? Are you satisfied ?
Thanks
Hi,
I have a couple of years old android unit in my car (MTCD_GS_v2.38_3_3/rk3188/ 1GB RAM/ ARM Cortex-A9 @ 1.6GHz (x4)/ Android 5.1.1) which is very sluggish and constantly lagging/freezing. I can see now that the latest version of my unit comes with 4GB RAM, 8 core and Android 9.
Do I have any options to upgrade the hardware in order to make the unit faster? The latest unit costs about £250 and I was hoping I might be able to upgrade my existent unit cheaper to an acceptable performance levels..
I am mostly using the unit for Google Maps and Youtube.
Many Thanks,
Jay

Thanks for the reply Marchnz. Do you have a link to the thread - I couldn’t find anything specifically on that topic.
Thanks again

Hi, these aren't Android Auto, running a chinese developed Android.
There's not alot to gain attempting to update Android on your 1gb core board.
Suggest searching for SOM upgrade in the MTCD section, which outlines replacing the System On Module board with a later px5, 4GB SOM. Before doing that, Android version options are limited by Bluetooth module.
Take a note of what your BT is, and start looking. Failing that, a complete replacement headunit is possibly a least risk and time consuming option.
Personally speaking I'm not sure I understand why someone would want to run android auto on an android head unit.... IMO, It's kind of redundant, but anyway... I kind of agree with @marchnz , the hardware is a bit outdated and one has to wonder if attempting to update is even worth the time and effort.
