IQShield Screen Protector Review - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Accessories

I've had every Galaxy Note that's been available (except the 7), and until the Note 8 came out, I used tempered glass screen protectors because of the S-PEN. Due to the rounded edges on the screen, most tempered glasses are terrible; they don't stick, they pop off, and they leave an annoying gap between the screen and glass. Seeing as the S-PEN is the main feature of the phone, it forced me to use another option. For my Note 8, I tried a few different TPU screen protectors, all of them either felt odd or were too thick and would cause the S-PEN to drag or skip and lose sensitivity. Until I found the IQShield screen protector. Install is straightforward and since it's a wet install, you can position the protector correctly and remove all bubbles.
When I pre-ordered me wife's and my Note 9 on August 16th, I went looking and found the Spigen TPU screen protector was the only option (couldn't find IQShield anywhere). So I ordered that one; BIG MISTAKE!! It's easy to install, but felt very rough and sticky to the touch even a week later. Worse if all, because it is thick, the S-PEN drags and slips across the screen and interferes with the sensitivity making it useless to draw with. While it heals from the S-PEN, the marks are there for a while. My wife disliked it so much, she was willing to go with no cover over this one.
Then I saw that IQShield finally released the one for the Note 9 and ordered the 2 pack (link below). Exactly as expected. Took less than a minute to install, no mess, perfect fit, feels like glass (very smooth to the touch and when running my finger across the screen), is Crystal clear, and best of all is that it doesn't mess with the S-PEN and feels like you are drawing on the glass. I put them on my kids S8's a while ago and recently needed to get one replaced as my daughter scratched it, they replaced it immediately and have fantastic customer service. If you're looking for a screen protector and don't want to spend a fortune, get this one.

P.S. this is not a paid for or endorsed review. I paid for the screen protectors.

I've been using iq shield since the S6 days. Protects the screen. Cheap, easy installation.

Will a screenprotector decrease the funcionallity of the spen?

Hi guys,
I am buying a sgn 10.1. But i was wondering if a screenprotector will decrease the accuracy and effectiveness of the spen.
Anyone some experience on this part ?
Cause i cant stand scratches on screens so was thinking of adding a protector but dont want the funcionality to decrease!
thx!
I don't think that it would, maybe at worst some loss in pressure sensitivity occurs (so you have less than 1024 levels), due to the 1mm or however thick the screen protector is.
l don't think you will lose any sensitivity because the pen uses magnetic inductance to operate which is why the pen does not need batteries.
l have a screen protector on my phone which is the small version of this tablet and there was no difference when the screen protector was applied. I am waiting for Samsung torelease their official screen protector in the UK for my 10.1 Note.
Don't buy Zagg or any like it
Just be sure not to buy a Zagg.
Bought one the same day as the Note at BestBuy.
Screen protector is so sticky you won't be able to use the pen at all.
I won't slide on the screen, and it won't register correctly.
It has nothing to do with the "cure" time, left the protector in for 2 days, same results.
Zagg is flexible and rubber like, will render the pen useless.
Buy a "static" type of screen protector, they are almost not flexible at all.
It's working perfectly now that I have it.
Under the "accessories" part of the forum you should be able to find several on Amazon.
Avoid ZAGG!!!

haha yeah, I pulled it off my tablet pc and cut it to size. it fits and works perfectly! i have one scratch on that thing after hard abuse and that was from dropping a knife on it
i regularly leave my keys sitting on top of the protected screen actually.
the back plate of the note 10.1 is terribly soft though, I have lots of micro scratches on it and I've been taking pretty good care of it.

Lol Now that is one tough mudder
I have the anti-glare screenprotector.
It vworks fine with the Spen, accept that the pen actually scratches the protector.... I think I need somthing stronger.
I tried to see if WhiteShield has one, but only for the Tab. I sent them a request message for the Note.....we'll see.
What is anyone else using, and does your Spen scratch the protector?
Thanks

Try using the CLEAR spen nib you found in your Note 10.1 box on the screen protector. It should slide easier.
I only use screen protectors for wacom from strongengineering.com. Unless they have changed their formula the screen protectors always have a nice paper feel. I simply love it. You can feel and hear the resistance of the nib when the cover is brand new. After a time and a lot of cross hatching and drawing it smooths out a bit. This is my very personal preference. I can't stand smooth glass-like screen protectors for drawing.
My position on screen protectors is this:
With the quality and hardness of the plastic coatings on most decent Android devices in the last 3 years, a screen protector can only be a net *downgrade* in terms of scratch-resistance and screen quality.
Scratches (and often fingerprints) will show up more on a screen protector than on the bare screen because a screen protector is usually less hard than the screen itself. This will particularly be the case with a pen stylus (ie one with a fine tip, as opposed to a capacitive stylus) which won't scratch the bare screen (because it's hardened) but will over time create wear marks in a screen protector in "high traffic" parts of the screen.
Granted, having the screen protector means that once the scratches all over it get too much, you can just pull it off (and replace it). And that is indeed the point of a screen protector. But I'd rather not have dullness from scratch marks all over my screen protector to begin with. It's a bit like the people who have plastic covers on their couches so they don't get stained. It ruins the whole point of having a nice couch surface. Reminds me of the quote "life is not a dress rehearsal". You may as well benefit from your scratch-resistant hardened plastic screen now rather than cover it, saving it for a day in the future that never comes.
All that said, some screen protectors are better than others and there are probably decent ones around. And there's nothing wrong with having a protective cover on the *back* or edges of your device, since this isn't a crucial operative part of the device.
There's no possible way a screen protector can negatively affect the way the pen works, as it's based on an electromagnetic field. So maybe if it were a metallic screen protector it would be an issue. The "grippiness" of a screen protector could be a problem though. Some are grippy and some not. Grippy ones like Zagg will render the pen practically unusable.

Review: Techmatte/AmFilm screen protector

I've used these on a couple different devices now, and in my opinion/experience they are by far the best screen protectors! For years I bought Ghost Armor screen protectors, but I'd never go back to Ghost Armor now. Techmatte protectors are priced much lower, yet still offer a lifetime warranty, and they feel and look MUCH better! I installed it almost 3 weeks ago, but wanted to review it after I had for used a while so I could say how it looked and held up over time. Fortunately, just like every TechMatte protector I've used in the past these don't scratch and don't peel up over time. So 2 weeks after installing it still looks absolutely perfect! On the Note 4 they cover the screen up to where the glass begins to curve, so there is no issue of it not sticking anywhere or causing any odd visual appearance like glass protectors do. The cutouts for the camera, sensors, speaker, and home button are all perfect and precisely where they should be. In the package you receive 3 screen protectors, micro-fiber cleaning cloth, squeegie, 5 hinge stickers, rubber bands for holding the protector in place while you're applying the hinge stickers, and instruction manual. Anyone who's used the hinge method for installation in the past will tell you that there is no better way. I won't install a screen protector without doing the hinge method now, as it makes the installation fool proof and assures a perfect install. I had never used rubber bands prior to this installation, but it really helped out a lot. I got the install done perfectly the first try, as the hinge method assures everyone will, and installing in the bathroom while the shower is running hot water will keep any dust out of the air. Feel free to ask any question you have.

EDIT : A few pics added
Completely agree with everything you said. I've only had mine on for 3 days and its like it isn't even on the device.
The feeling of a glass protector is the best, but with none of those really working for the Note4, these protectors cannot be beat.
For $3.99 it's a hell of a bargain.
Do you mind posting a picture of the screen protector itself or on your phone? The picture on the product page isn't very clear.
I've had it on my Note 4 for two weeks now. I don't worry about having keys in the same pocket now. Damn near invisible with the Speck CandyShell Grip Case. I'm actually thinking about cutting one of the protectors down multiple times to make some camera lens protectors, since I ordered 2 packets at that price. I'll post here if successful.
Just installed mine last night and am happy with it.
Added a few pics. Let me know if you want to see a close-up of a specific area, specific angle, whatever. I'll take my Note 3 with me tonight, just in case any has any requests.
Thanks for posting pics. I was hoping the screen protector would extend farther than the display and up until where the glass starts to curve.

Healing Shield - best Curved Screen Protector

After 3 Weeks i got my Note Edge Healing Shield from Hongkong company Healing Shield.
http://healingshield.shoplineapp.com/products/5478a9a6039055c2e2000001
it comes with 3 pc shields (adhesive folio), microfaser cleaning rag, scraper and a remover sticker...the adhesive bonding folio is a litte bit strange, but works great. The panel is fully secured now, and the size of screen protector is 100%.
Love it!
I have it also and I don't like it.
It has that orange peel effect and makes my screen feel so rubbery.
I had no choice as it was the only screen protector that I could find for the Note Edge while I was vacationing in Singapore this past Christmas/New Year.
It does protect the screen and also the edge. I'd say it protects 90% of the screen but doesn't cover the the three sensors next to the ear piece on top and the bottom part after the home button.
I'm still waiting for the first tempered glass screen protector to be released for the Note Edge.
But the case I got for it is amazing. It is the Tridea case.
http://www.amazon.com/Tridea-Anti-S...dea+case&pebp=1422104071464&peasin=B00PI5O2WY
They are good because they are the best out of the very very few available full screen protector.
However they have many downsides too. For example, they are quite soft so when used with the s pen, it leaves dents and marks on the protecto. It feels quite sticky too at the sasame time so doesn't feel very easy for the fingers to glide on. It also dims quite a bit of the screen brightness and colours. When I compared my note edge with my note 3, the note 3 screen appeared to be brighter and more colourful. I conclude that it is probably due to the healing shield protector. It just doesn't make sense that the new note edge screen is inferior to the note 3 one.
There are 2 types of film. The clear type and anti-glare type. The anti-glare type is much better for s-pen.
i put the armorsuit screen protector, dont see fingerprints.. but do see where my s-pen has been lol. its only visible in the light and held at an angle. Just waiting for a tempered glass screen protector to come out next month
what does it mean by self healing? and if it was, then why would you need 3 then lol
unless its another gimmick like the g flex.
Does your armorsuit covers the whole screen, including the edge? TIA.
I got the Skinomi protector and I absolutely love it. It was easy to put on and was the first protector I'd ever installed myself without a single bubble.
The big difference between the Skinomi and the others I've seen is that the speaker and camera notches are cut out just for them and do not extend up. (Look on Amazon to see what I'm talking about - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NAJ07QU/) For $10 - best purchase ever for a phone.
Apparently, Skinomi will be announcing / releasing their tempered glass protector. I'll probably be picking that up when it comes out.
Correction - It was iloome I was thinking of - not Skinomi.
I agree. I just put a Skinomi on mine, and it is fantastic. Now, as for long term, don't know...but certainly a keeper. Just be patient and let it dry. Amazing.

Screen Protector

I use a screen protector on all my previous phones. For the S6, I'm thinking of not using one. It's going to be in my pocket along with a case. How scratch resistant is the screen?
I'm not sure. Mine already has one right down the middle. I never had one worth my S4
How did you get it scratched?
I also got some minor scratches, put my phone in the same pocket my lighter was in :/ never doing that again lol
I bought a tempered glass one for mine... And just so you know the edge doesn't stick right.
It has to do with the screen being beveled. So just keep in mind that 1 or 2 mm of the edge will always look bad. I'm thinking about taking it off.
(s6, not s6 edge)
I used a screen protector up until about a year into my S4 and took it off. I got tired of the finger drag, rainbow, and scratches it accumulated. My S4 ended up with a minor scratch that could only be seen in a certain light if you knew it was there. My S6 has the same now, almost in the same place and in extreme sunlight, at a crrtain angle, I can see a few spiderweb looking scratches. Gorilla Glass is far from scratch proof, but I'd rather enjoy the feel of the glass. Glass screen protectors get scratched as well. I put one on my son's S6, the Verizon protector installed by them, and it does not reach the sides of the screen, which annoys him. I figure if my screen gets badly scratched, I'll put a protector on at that point.

Get an s view case best of all worlds the joys of naked screen with the true anti shatter protection that only a flip case can provide, the Samsung s view case is excellent.
I'm using Spigen crystal screen protectors. They're normal ones, not glass, but they're excellent. You get 2 Front, and 1 back, and they are quite good on smudges, perfect clarity, and they have no halo or issues attaching to screen. Quite cheap at £6.
As for S-view cases, they don't offer the protection people think. I've seen many a Samsung phone shatter in them.

I want recommend to you very good glass screen protector

After more than a month what can you say about the glass? I've read, that after some time edges start to detach opening way to dust and so on. Did you experience anything similar?
My Mate 9 is about 6 months old with nothing on. The screen is like new. The only dents are on the edge, left by a low-quality tripod holder.
sorry for not update.
the screen protector disconnected very fast...!!
I haven't found 1 decent protector. Cheap Ali express, expensive Nilkin, they all suck, detach from the edge in weeks and come loose. Nilkin is the most reasonable but I'm gonna stop replacing them every 2 months when this one is gone. If then the glass breaks I have the best reason to get a mate 10
Try Mr Shield For Huawei Mate 9 on Amazon, cheap, easy to install
This one actually hasn't been too bad for me. Reviews were still iffy but seemed to be the "best" (relative to others) and the first one I tried. Goes almost all the way to the edge, haven't had any peeling/ separation at the edges. The fact that it doesn't go all the way to the edge is good for the spigen case that I have. Much more and the case would be pressing against the screen protector, causing it to separate.
I like that it is a 2-pack...I actually cracked mine diagonally after a drop and it's nice to have a backup without having to go and buy another one. And for only $8 is a pretty good deal.

I second that this is the best glass screen protector for the price. All the other screen protector I purchased doesn't cover the full screen and leaves a rainbow effect on the sides. Very easy to install and if you get a few dust you can lift up and use the kit that comes with it.
