Reskinning Apps - Android Apps and Games

Okay so it's not a new concept. While I was in college, I went to a speech by some legend in the programming world who's name I do not remember. Said he worked on some sort of Tiger Woods game and had the patent for sending information over the internet between two video game consoles. Back in those days arcade machines were quite popular. They made one game then reskinned it and they thought it wouldn't sell, but it did very well. It was essentially the same game, but new visuals. You can see the idea really reflected onto my work. Now my later game(s) I feel are better and are an inspiration to go back to my earlier games and remake with what I learned from the later games. I've learned 90% of revenue comes from 10% of your user base. I'm hoping to learn to create a fan base.
First Game: Capem

You shoot birds
Second games

You shoot flying pigs
Third game

You shoot ufos
This is my latest game. I changed the sensors around and achieved better accuracy as well as worked out some math problems for some new flight patterns. I will then go back to my first 2 games and change the skins.
I'm new here, so I hope I didn't break any rules. I would be happy to answer any questions. Also, I'm looking for work.

[GAME][1.6+] Curve Mania

Hi guys,
I don't know 'bout you, but any game I've ever played seemed to be interesting at first and kept me playing it until I completed the storyline (or beat 'some' of the levels of an arcade) and then I gradually lost my interest in it.
So far the best (for me) was LFS and TC:Elite (your opinion may vary, of course), they kept me going for years. I was wondering what was the reason of that and I came to the conclusion it must have been because of the true multiplayer nature.
Furthermore, back in the old days (Amiga, C64) the simplest games gave the most fun.
I was looking for something similar on Android. Drag racing is very good, Air Control is great. But are simple and addictive, but none of them really offered 'true' multiplayer. By this I mean playing with (or against) someone sitting next to you. I also tried the 'high budget pro games' like Asphalt from Gameloft, but i played it for like 15 minutes and never touched it again. Somehow it failed to attract me.
I wanted something that is simple, something I can play with my friends, that won't become boring after some hours of play just because I can beat the 'bots and something, that remains to be challenging.
Driven by this 'selfish' need, let me introduce the game I've been working on the past couple of months. By now you can guess it's gonna be very simple, but multiplayer game. It's called Curve Mania.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ratcash.games.curvemania
In this game you have to prove you're the smartest 'droid' by surviving all the other players in a limited arena. Develop your driving skills, apply tactics, join forces! Whoever is 'The last man standing', wins!
There are, unfortunately, some drawbacks having a multiplayer-only game:
1. you can't play this game alone. There are no bots. Two players is the minimum, three is recommended for fun and 7 is the ultimate challenge, where you can create alliances against against the current leader, etc.
2. you need a working WIFI network. Because of latency restrictions, local network multiplayer is the only option. Will see later if 3G is possible.
Most important thing last. The game is free for up to 3 players, and you'll have to spend some cents if you'll willing to play with 4+ players. I opted for this mainly because:
1. I wanted to develop it, mainly for myself, but then again, did not want to keep it only for myself.
2. Three players should be enough to try/play/experience the game and cause you lots of fun.
3. I did not want to ruin the game with ads (to at least get a small return on my time and efforts)... So if you think this game caused you fun and is worth some cents, you can buy one of the advanced features. This will show me your 'gratitude' and allow you to have even more fun. I hope this is a fair deal.
If you feel like this game is worth (at least) trying, please head over to Android Market. I'd appreciate your honest ratings and posting your impressions either here, or directly on the market. Bugs reports (if any), contributions and feature requests rather here or to the support email address so we can communicate.
Happy gaming!
A new bugfixed version is uploaded.

Any game even remotely similar to Binding of Isaac?

Yeah, I know you can extract the .swf file and run it on the phone, but it runs awful. Also I know there's gonna be the Rebirth edition on android, maybe.
Thing is, I'm addicted to this game and I wanna find anything (emulation, probably) similar to it. I did tons of research and the best candidates are cardinal quest (android native roguelike, partially optimized on the Play, fun and simplistic but there's not much action) and "dicing knight" on the wonderswan color (LOL) which I don't even know if can be emulated. Every roguelike is basically too static, and every action rpg/dungeon crawler with realtime, skill-intensive combat either has not permadeath, or hasn't got random generated levels, or both.
I know there isn't a game really like Isaac. I'm just searching for something remotely similar, maybe just addicting, challenging, suited for long runs and small bites. You know, on a phone you'll want that.
Try Deadly Dungeons RPG. I love the game and while it doesn't look a thing like Binding of Isaac it is a rouge-like with random level and item generation and a perma-death mode. It is not Xperia Play optimized but works very well with touchscreen imo.

I came across that one too; I could play it with gamekeyboard if only it was playable in landscape.
Can it? It didn't seem to me, but then again I didn't buy it :x
Just play the original Legend of Zelda with an NES emulator. That's the closest you'll get, without running the .swf on your phone.
well... fact is, it's not randomized, hasn't got permadeath, and you gotta actually go into the dungeons. I mean, it's a completely different game (that I played, anyway)
Hey, to the best of my knowledge Deadly Dungeons cannot be run in Landscape but trust me, it's one of the few games worth using touch screen for. Too bad there isn't a demo but I enjoyed it far more than similar first person rogue-likes such as Grimrock.
i was playing a lot "legends of yore" when it was in its early stages.i think its complete now, give it a try
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
I tried that, it's great but it's kind of towards the "deep rpg" side of things. Dungeons are actually randomly generated each time you enter, but you can save and load files, level up the character and stuff like that. I also find that game more suitable to the touchscreen, as it's not completely optimized AFAIK. I think I'll stick to cardinal quest for now, which basically works like legends of yore but it's simpler and roguelike. :\
Waiting for Isaac Rebirth to come and save me
Killer Cavern!
Try Killer Cavern, still in development but hopefully already fun! Can't post the link here but just search the Google Play Store for 'Killer Cavern'. Thanks!
Lostx Dungeon, a bit like
Lostx Dungeon, a mobie game on google play, Action game combines the elements of Dungeon Crawling, Rough-like, Shooter, Adventure, a bit like the binding of isaac , enter the gungeon

[GAME][2.3+] Scary Copter - Halloween Flight

Hello!
I want to show you my first android game, that i just published on Google Play
Its called Scary Copter - Halloween Flight
So as you can see, theme is very actual, as tonight is the Halloween night
Its free, fast and fun flying game, based on old, well known idea of helicopter game.
Navigate through narrowing tunnel, avoid obstacles, dont crash and fly as far as you can.
Enjoy dynamic, yet smooth and responsive flying model. Have fun.
Im new here, so i cant publish links to Google Play nor any screenshoots. Look for game called "scary copter", with icon showing Witch flying broom silhouette against full moon Package name is: com.mobador.scarycopter
I did my best to make "Scary Copter" bug free. Looks solid to me, but im a beginner, so I'll apreciate any opinions about this game.
Thanks in advance.
Adam
Play Store Link
Haven't had time to play it yet, but here is a Play Store link.

Thank you for nice words. Its simple game, but simple doesnt mean ugly. There is so many fun games on Google Play, that just have poor gfx. I wanted to avoid it and make graphic assets, that will be pleasant for eye. I'm not an artist myself, but I did my best to make the game look as good as possible. Colours that fit each other are very important part of every image, so i put attention into it too.
And about update plans, there are some, yeah.
I want to implement some kind of online high score board, so players can share their best scores, for others to compare.
I also need to fix some graphic issues. Game is made in 800x480 resolution, and on such devices, it looks realy good. Like mine Samsung Galaxy S Advance. But on devices with different resolution, pictures doesnt look so good, edges are sharp, not smooth. Game still works fine, but well, details could look better.
There are also some extra features planned, but im a busy guy, much work, wife, kid, so it can take some time
Actualy, at first the game was meant to look different, there was "classic" game mode, and "extended" one, with power-ups. And more graphic themes, that players can unlock while playing, and then select their favourite theme. I even have working prototype.
But im a beginner, so i decided to make it simplier from the start, to avoid mistakes. The longer the code, the bigger chance for bugs
Another thing is, preparing different graphic themes is also time-consuming, i dont want to put crappy graphic into my game. I put much attention into details, so i was afraid, if i will stick to more complex game idea, it will take months longer to finish and publish. Therefore i made it simplier, with dedicated Halloween theme, and there it is, finally...
If people will download it, and i will know they like it, i will for sure work on extended game
So, download and rate please, to keep my motivation up

[GAME][2.3.3] Plane Popper (Fun & simple, Play Games services, Facebook)

Hello XDA!
I'm Bobbyloujo and I made a game called Plane Popper! You can get it on the Play Store. This game adds some fun new twists on the old Flash game Helicopter Game. Touch the right side of the screen to go up, release to fall down. Touch the left side of the screen for a speed boost. Pop as many balloons as you can while dodging fireworks and blimps! The game gets progressively harder as you pop more balloons.
Here's a gameplay video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNvl1UJ53Rg
Story time:
I made this all on my own. The programming, the graphics, the sound effects, I did it all. It started in November 2012 when I started to teach myself Java. I developed a simple game engine and then moved on to Android. Taught myself Android development using many online resources (including XDA!). Plane Popper started off using the Canvas drawing system but I realized that was too slow for this type of game. So, I learned OpenGL ES 1. That was probably the hardest thing. Most of the time spent programming Plane Popper was spent on writing my own game engine that uses OpenGL. I've started separating the engine from the game and I'm planning on releasing it when I have something presentable put together.
My only previous programming experience includes some Nintendo DS homebrew development using DS Game Maker. The DS homebrew scene has pretty much died off and I think Android is a great next step. I'm also a sophomore in college trying to get into Computer Science (part of engineering at my university) but I might end up switching to IST. Engineering is hard and stressful and I can always just keep teaching myself what I want to know.
As I said, I also did the artwork. I like making graphics just about as much as I like programming so a lot of time spent making Plane Popper was also spent making graphics. I'm not so good with sound effects though. Most of the effects in Plane Popper are just edited claps and fan noises haha.
So tell me what you think! I'm pretty proud of my little game as you can probably already tell . Initially there were some glitches causing the game to crash on startup. I'm pretty sure I fixed it but please tell me if it happens to you or if you find any other bugs. Also tell if the graphics look pixelated on your device. That may be a side effect of my fix.
My website is www.bobbyloujo.com and you can find some screenshots and videos on there as well as my DS work and a whopping 2 blog posts
Finally: many people have told me that the game is too hard. I'm planning on adding different difficulty setting when I get the time. Tell my what you think and if you have any other feedback let me know! Also, don't forget to rate and review it on Google Play if you like it
Any comments? I posted this late at night so I think it may have gotten overlooked.
Great game, I like the graphics keep it up!
Good game!
Haha, this game is pretty fun! And challenging in the same time! Good for killing time.
Thanks everyone! Soon I'll release an update with ability to change the difficulty.
This is awesome!
It's really funny game
Good job, the game is well-done !

[Game] One hint of magic - interactive text adventure app

So I’ve developed an android app now and I’m really curious about your feedback! The app is completely free to play.
Here’s the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=callandha.app
As I already mentioned in the headline, this is an interactive text adventure story app, so you can make your own choices to alter the course of the story.
I’ve orientated myself on certain other text adventure games and specifically added a lot of graphics and illustration, because that’s what I’m always missing when reading good text adventure story games and I believe it pulls the reader even deeper into the story and makes the characters more realistic.
Short overview of the story:
The story is about five girls, who discover supernatural abilities like a special bond to one of the four elements. Laurel, the protagonist, also is repeatingly dreaming about a certain boy, but every time she encounters him in the dreamworld, his face looks unfocused. One day, a shady figure appears in her dreams as well, watching her from the shadows and threatening her. Laurel also encounters four other girls in the real world, who seem to have supernatural abilities just like her, though some of her friends seem closer to the darkness than Laurel might have thought at first gaze. The following days, the five girls meet up regularly and eventually find the way to a hidden school that teaches magic. But not all is as well as it seems. Laurel keeps getting into bad accidents and someday, one of her friends suddenly disappears without a trace. Is this related to the creepy shadows, that lurk around the school? Are they somehow connected to the mysterious school director? The shadows are coming… Can you keep your friends safe from them?
The whole book is parted into six parts and I’ve just released the first part and I’m already working on the second part now. A second book is planned as well. Please leave a review on Google Play Store if you like the app.
