Also, the twrp images are in the *.zip format. You need to extract it, and -

I/most of the people will not be able to understand your question, as it seems meaningless, no offence, without any info.

If you want flash using phone, just dowload recove flasher from store! Really simple.

help! no os!

i just unlock the bootloader and install twrp on mate 9 us version when i was about to flash super user i wipe data and then i can only see the navigatiom keys no more please help me to recover my phone,thanks

Please step by step list exactly what you did to get to this point.
e.g.
1. I booted into the bootloader by issuing ./adb reboot-bootloader
2. I unlocked by issuing ./fastboot oem-unlock [unlockcode]
etc., etc.
The information you have provided is not remotely close to enough to help you.

Flash hw_data and public zips for your build number in twrp.

i just try erecovery and still the same it turn on and only show the navigation keys

well erecovery did the job it download the 183 firmware lock the bootloader and im back on track thanks for the help anyway

so i flashed lineageos 14 for my gr5 2017 BLL-L21, in my efforts trying to get back to stock rom i wiped system in twrp and now my phone doesn't boot

What was your earlier emui build number and which file you flashing. 3 button method is your best way to restore

Are you using twrp from elite ROM? Didnt see the option for version partition in generic twrp for our device.
Vendor and product may not be mounted if you flash other oeminfo file.

i also factory rest my phone but it doesn't help at all
but , it's really a mistery why it succeeds on some phone and not on others
( i mean the model's same , everything is same )

Try flashing TWRP Through other means. One thing is sure that twrp is working so u could try clean adb flash.

Please make sense. Vivo didn't offer to unlock boot loader. Did you even notice this?

Just as a suggestion, update op with a link to the msm tool and then report it to the mods to get it closed
