anyone know how i can do this with jf1.42 rc33 rooted g1
No video recording yet (except through third party application - namely "Video Recorder" - imagine the creativity), and since the camera lacks a zoom, you will never be able to zoom it. Just crop your pictures.
you should be able to digitally zoom your camera just not optical

digital zoom = cropping
no real need to implement a zoom feature that pixel-ates the photo even more than it already is
can u tell me why video recorder force closes when i hit record

because it is a not so good program. when i tried it my camera shutter got all screwy. had to reset the phone
easy answer: wait for cupcake or a POST RC33/9(UK) cooked build
i think this cupcake thing is becoming a hoax

I agree. I don't know why so many ppl are wanting camera zoom, cause it will never be optical zoom. Anyone that know anything about cameras knows the only way to go is optical zoom. And like you said, if you want digital zoom, just crop your photo.

Optical zoom is better, but a good software zoom which tries to interlace the picture would work too?

You're better off "zooming" using a real photo editor, just crop and enlarge and the quality will be much better than what the phone could ever manage. The only thing digital zoom would possibly be good for is for those who don't want the hassle of cropping/enlarging the pics themselves using an external program on the PC.
at least for video recording digital zoom should work. coz u dont use the full resolution of the chip anyways and the frame is always rendered down to a lower resolution.

That's very true.
When i switch to video in the camera app the view is zoomed in compared to taking a photo. This is the minimum zoom level in the video mode but would be zoomed in a few times in photo mode.
Anyone else experiencing this and know how to fix it? I've had this issue with all the roms i've tried - ICS & GB.
It's really annoying having to stand far away from the thing I want to record

yeah in video mode the image is little bit zoomed ( i would say 2x max) but that will not cause any trouble at all you can still take videos of near objects with ease...
BTW if you want your video quality to be quadrupled try this mod...the video quality is amazing im taking videos of my niece and they are absolutely godly when compared to crappy stock video
try the mod if you have custom rom installed

It is very annoying and I find I have to move quite far back to record a video of something right infront of me, unlike just taking a photo.
Yeah i know about that mod and love it, it increased video & photo quality by 1000%
Hi, I just got switched to pixel 3 and notice that the videos on fullscreen is actually cropped when playing. They are not streached to the corners, does any one knows a fix for it? Thanks

The zoom in feature to fill the screen is a crop, not a stretch like you might see on your TV. There is no "fix".
Just have to wait until more content is recorded in the 2:1 ratio
thanks
Hello everyone,
I just recently switched from a HTC U11 to this wonderful MI 10 Pro and I couldn't be happier.
There's just one little thing that I realized and I don't know where I did something wrong in my settings or if it's a ROM issue.
Whenever I watch a Video in full screen, the phone kinda cuts off the sides (probably to fit in the full screen instead of putting a black bar over/under the video).
I find this quite annoying because I'm sometimes missing out on important information that's sometimes written on the screen.
This happens with all apps I tried (Instagram/IGTV, YouTube and Kiwi Browser).
Have you experienced that behavior before and how did you solve it?
I attached a Screenshot on how it actually looks like.
EDIT: I'm on MIUI Global 11.0.10.0
Have you tried pinch to zoom out?

Pinch to zoom only works on YouTube and only on horizontal videos. Not working on Instagram at all, Browser at all or on vertical videos on YouTube ?
Are there any settings somewher in the system that I need to check?
hi all
cant see YouTube in full screen not in chrome and not in YouTube app
maybe you have soliton ?
If by fullscreen you mean edge-to-edge, you have to pinch-in on the video. That's the case on a lot of android phones.
Most youtube videos aren't desingned for ultra wide screens. You have to zoom the video with your fingers, like you do with pictures, but you'll miss some portions of it.
