$200-$250 unlocked phone for easy root? - General Topics

Need to replace a much appreciated flex 2 with a $200-$250 phone that can be easily rooted and has band 12 for tmob/MetroPCS. I need root for wifi tether and remove bliatware. Considering moto g5 plus but the root thread leaves something to be desired, especially if ota oreo is installed since no one has root on that phone with Oreo.
The Moto g6 was on the top of the list but root info is almost null.
Phone suggestions appreciated.
Apologies if this is not the correct forum. I'm using a $29 coolpad as my only internet source and it's painful to navigate. Ughh.....

[Completed] Zeepad 7DRK - able to root?

Hello,
I purchased a Zeepad 7DRK with the plans of it just being a simple remote for my Chromecast's.
When the device came in there are a lot of crappy bloat applications installed on the device that I am unable to remove.
I purchased this item 1. because it was cheap only $45 2. because at least the earlier version came already rooted.
Well this one did not come rooted. I installed root checker and was able to confirm this.
Does anyone know if this device is able to be root? or if anyone is working one it?
It looks like this is one of their new models and I am not able to find much information on it.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I can't find a specific root method for your device, but head over to this thread and take a look:
How to Root Any Device
Good luck!

Any Hope of Root for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Retail Ed (SMN910VZKE)?

My apologies in advanced if this question has been broached recently on this platform (or if I'm in posting to the incorrect forum).
I have the Verizon Retail Edition of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SMN910VZKE). Thus far, I'm seeing root is available for Develeper Edition (SMN910VMKE) only. I'm hopeful that an exploit has been discovered that will, happily and at long last, enable rooting of the retail edition.
Shall I hold out hope or, sadly, abandon it?
Thank you all in advance!!

That's a pretty large thread regarding rooting the VZW Note 4 Retail.
TL ; DR version is that root HAS been achieved. However this Samsung and Verizon have incorporated a write protection that makes root temporary. Once the device is rebooted, root disappears.

Ty,BN. Wiping root on reboot renders rooting device fruitless - at least for my purposes. Well, I've learned my lesson. Will be far more careful in future when choosing my next smartphone / tablet purchase.
Ty again for your contribution and for the link. :good:
Cheers!

[Q] Can someone help me root this lyf brand phone(rebranded zte)?

Few days ago, i bought a new phone from a relatively new company called lyf in India. They source their phones from zte, so either zte manufactures them, or rebrand the existing model for lyf. The phone does have some GUI elements of cyanogenmod to it(photos attached), since i don't think ZTE has mostly stock UI which this phone has . I tried rooting the home through apps but since the kernel is relatively new, apps couldn't find a venerability. Could someone help me with rooting this phone?
Specs:
Qualcomm Snapdragon 410
1 gb RAM
16gb internal
Link to the phone : https://www.mylyf.com/wind-1[/URL]
+1 for root request
Have you tried the XDA standard rooting method? (Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry)
Try it with the latest version and let us know.
I think this might help

I also have a Lyf phone, but it's Flame 7 . And me too didn't find any way to root my phone. Since I tried to root this device with Kingroot, the recovery mode is now not showing up.
The PC also not recognizing this phone. I have installed all drivers for this device but still no way.

LG G Stylo [MS631] (Metro PCS variant) Marshmallow update

Hi there guys was wondering if root is available for marshmallow on the metro pcs lg g stylo since I was having trouble finding out. On game theory's website there is a guide to updating to the latest firmware here but i'm not sure if its talking about the marshmallow update.
Any help would be appreciated I'm half worried no one will respond because it might be an incredibly easy question anyway cheers.
In case anyone ever finds this thread I eventually found out that you can receive the update fine by going back to stock. And rooting is almost the same as the T-Mobile model. If you have any doubt's pm I may be able to respond.

T-Mobile OnePlus 7 pro - Inorder to root does it need to be international (unlock) ?

I have read some guides on how to root and I’m bit confused on if I need my device to be international first (which it isn’t yet) to root ? Thanks to the magic of this forum I have found an individual willing to unlock it and currently waiting on them. In the mean time I would like to root my device. Thanks for all your help.
