Moto Mods are not supported, fork my sources and add the support yourself if this is so important to you
AOSP is Android as Google release without other modifications, similar to Pixel/Nexus stock rom but without gapps.
Features such as Chop Chop, Double Twist, Fingerprint sleep and Ambient display gestures are kept.
Google does not release an AOSP Browser anymore since Marshmallow, thus there isn't a default browser. If I find the time I might port and revamp it in the future.

If you decide to enable Camera2 APIs, be aware that in certain conditions photos and videos quality might be extremely low.

For this reason old camera apis are currently enabled by default.

Do I need to update modem and bootloader?
Download DevCheck or CPU-Z or any other app that let you see your bootloader version.
If the reported version is not 0xC180 or 0xC182, you need to update them.
Anyway before installing the rom TWRP will do this check for you and will stop you if your device is not compatible.
How do I update modem and bootloader?
This does not wipe your data if you closely follow these steps
Download the latest firmware for addison (available here, lolinet.com mirror, moto.netlib.re mirror).
Alternatively I made a package (up here) that only contains the required images if you're short on data/have bad speed.
Once you have made sure adb/fastboot properly detects the device, open a terminal in the folder where you have extracted the firmware and run the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot flash dsp adspso.bin
fastboot flash oem oem.img
Holy COW! Thanks Alberto! I will try it now! Best thing to do, flashing before sleeping! Saved my evening. I am very glad that you take your time and support our Phone and make us happy!

You have to format data in twrp. Doing that will disable encryption but it will wipe all your internal storage, so make a backup before doing it.

Additional information about the recovery on this device:
First of all we should make the basics clear: On our Z3 Compact we have got a bootloader update which can boot a recovery from powered off state by pressing volume down and the power button. Because we haven't ever had this updated bootloader and not all sony devices received the update, there have been some intelligent people who brought a special init binary which can handle recovery boots during a normal boot. This means when using advanced reboot from the ROM or pressing a volume key while the sony logo appears at boot. https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_sony_common/commits/lineage-16.0
To make this work there is this method to extract the ramdisk: https://github.com/LineageOS/androi...eage-16.0/extract_ramdisk/extract_ramdisk.cpp which uses zlib to decompress it. So far so good, zlib can decompress the default compression for recovery ramdisk which is gzip. However LZMA is more effective to reduce the size so we took it's advantage: https://github.com/omnirom/android_...mmit/885b01223a460d3f2500155ea415bdc8573679bc in order to fit recoverys compiled from recent environments (android-9.0 in my case) into our small FOTAKernel partition.
According to this change the init_sony can't handle the recovery boot anymore because it can't decompress the recovery's ramdisk so nailyk and Diewi (as far as i know) added support to decompress LZMA compressed ramdisk's with this chain: https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/device-sony-common-init/pull/20/commits
However these commits have never been merged into the LineageOS/android_device_sony_common nor the sonyxperiadev/device-sony-common-init. Since your ROM, CarbonROM, is using a fork of LineageOS/android_device_sony_common is missing these commits the recovery boot fails with a kernel panic, like this: https://del.dog/egawososux.htm
So you can either use a recovery which doesn't compress the ramdisk with LZMA (for example the one from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-0-aries-t3837192 or ask your ROM developer to pick the according commits into the sony_common tree/use my fork of LineageOS's one https://github.com/z3c-pie/android_...mits/fa85dfcc07f42d73f9a1abf1f4c82d8bf0486a93 which would enable you to use recent TWRP builds with a LZMA compressed ramdisk.
I hope i presented it clearly and in the right way,
Have a nice day!
EDIT: Minimized patch for LZMA is available here: https://review.lineageos.org/c/LineageOS/android_device_sony_common/+/252923

Hi, I can't open your thread in XDA Labs app, I suppose that's the case of many people and that's why there is not much views and comments on this thread.
I didn't tried yet your ROM but it sound great and will try it ASAP.
Also which recovery do you recommend to avoid errors like error 7 (if I remember) ?
Also will you continue to work on RR ?
EDIT : after posting this comment via browser, I can now open this thread in XDA Labs
EDIT 2 : everything is working

To be honestly I can't follow you. Do you mean that you don't know how to update the build? For this case you have to download manually and flash it in TWRP. There are no wipes needed.
Hi, thanks for this and how is the battery performance?
Any plans for making an LineageOS for microG rom?
Thanks for the ROM, I am using it right now, everything is working good except the camera. Can take photos, but video is not working. When I'm switching to video, the app is freezing and stuck. I tried to use the stock camera with magisk, it can't take photos or video neither. Tried manual camera too, it can take photos but no video.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.Instructions:

For some weird reason, Magisk zip won't work (because of shims, wtf) so you'll need to manually patch your boot image with the Magisk Manager app and you'll need to flash it to boot_x with hacked fastboot mode or to boot with TWRP.

No, fastboot isn't informed of the exploit, fastboot flash boot will overwrite the microloader and will brick the device.

Didn't know that. I think that's why I had to erase the boot partition just so I can install a rom again. it was able to boot to twrp so I just rebooted to hacked BL and erased then boot back and flash a rom in twrp

Yes that's possible, because TWRP restores the microloader (boot-exploit). Great to hear that you could recover it.
if you need to check the md5 upload the file and use https://emn178.github.io/online-tools/md5_checksum.html
The rom is abnormally large? When selecting the aroma package barely anything fits, in 7.1.2 it fit 5x more apps using th aroma package also 400 MB for the rom? what's causing this? how can I make the system partition bigger?

If I'm allowed to ask, what's aroma? And yeah, the ROM size it's quite normal since Android O includes vndk and hidls.
It feels really snappy compared to 14.1. I guess that's because of a different launcher?

I don't think the launcher has something to do with the snappiness. I guess Android Oreo it's more optimized than Android 7. You also need to keep in mind that I've updated the GPU drivers (kernel-side, mali).
Wow, great job @Rortiz2 ! Respect and thank you!

Aroma is an open gapps installer it includes all apps and offers a gui installer. Also, I found out what causes the screen issue. Apparently just installing a SELinux switcher app will cause the issue where if you put it to sleep by pressing the power button and you press the power button again to take it out of sleep nothing happens. I don't know how just installing a selinux switcher causes the screen issue and the Bluetooth crashes

Why would you set SELinux to enforcing..? Sepolicies aren't yet prepared to do so... Anyway, I don't have any clue about aroma, use the standard gapps package I guess.

Alright, I guess I'll try to fix sepolicies then. Don't expect it to be quick though, this takes a lot of time.
I'm really impressed with this ROM. Running Services reports nearly 800 MB free after boot and it's definitely snappier. Also, viewing Settings with a pure black background is probably my favorite feature.
One thing I did run into was that during the install of GApps, it seemed to stall after the Installation Complete message. I just rebooted manually and it was all fine. Great job, Rortiz2
rom installs fine but it looks like it freezes after "installation compete" for opengapp.
Used the link above for openapp. Did not choose a different variation.

Of course yes
Fixed, kinda, with OpenGapps Pïco it worked.
Well it boots but I get stuck in a weird loop during the initial setup. I'm stuck in the "Checking for updates" -> "Just a sec..." screens just switching and looping forever. Or when I proceed to do the setup offline without connecting to WiFi, it just sits on the "Just a sec..." loading screen forever.
It seems like some background processes are timing out during the setup process or failing to run properly, I could see the messages pop up for a split second before disappearing, "Speech services by Google keeps stopping" being one of them for example, the others pop up so fast that I wasn't able to read them, but something regarding Google play services or something.
Can I just reinstall the Gapps or...? Or do you think this is an issue with something else? Or is it supposed to take extremely long?
Only google apps before 31/01/2021 are supported by all A11 ROM. Which version did you install?
The same version that I used for the DarkJoker Lineage 18.1 ROM, ogapps-nano-20210803 which worked fine(?) with that ROM, apart from some other unrelated issues with audio/microphone.
Got the gapps working by first booting into system without gapps and completing the initial setup, then going back to recovery and installing the gapps.
So far so good, boot time seems a lot faster than LOS 18.1 from DarkJoker360, but camera isn't synchronized with flash lght(same as in LOS 18.1).
Thank You.
RNE-L21 Here.
Yes I have fixed slow boot. For the synchronisation of the camera I will try to fix it. Perhaps with the stock rom apk camera

Thank you for trying to fix the camera bug.
Also I forgot to mention that I had to copy the 1080x2160 folder with the offline charger status since my phone screen differ.
I think the only differences between the p10 Lite and Mate p10 Lite(RNE-L21) is screeen size, amount of ram and cpu clock.
I don't use gapps so cannot comment on this tough.

Hello
If you are interested I fixed an issue that affects all Huawei A11 ROMs last night. This is a rights issue that prevents applications from reading and writing to the directory that contains the photos. The patch is on the LeaOS thread but it must also work on the crDroid. I will integrate your offline loading images in my next patch. You can send me the zip in MP
Thanks, have a good day

Awesome I'll look into that.
The problems I've experienced indeed occur on all of the A11-based ROMs as you mentioned, so perhaps this will fix that.
But just to bring out my problems with the ROM, there seems to be some kind of a conflict with how apps access the camera/microphone:
Sometimes (most frequently when using something like Snapchat) the camera stops working completely (it says that the camera could not be connected to) and you have to exit the app and reopen it to make the camera work again. This is the only issue that also happens on the stock camera app in addition to all of the third party apps.
Also on Snapchat, you're not able to record any videos, only take pictures. When you try to record a video the video preview just freezes and essentially all it will be able to do is just capture a picture of the first frame of the "video" you were trying to take. After that if you try to go back the camera crashes and will only display black image until you close the app and open it again.
When using the camera on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, you can record videos, but the audio in the captured video is kind of distorted or bad quality.
However when using the stock camera app or the stock audio recorder app the audio was fine, on all of the A11 ROMs I've tried.
So far I've tested Darkjoker Lineage 18.1 ROM and AOSP 11 ROM and also latviandudes Descendant XI and the distorted audio issue has been present on each one of them.
Since nobody has reported these bugs on any of those ROMs, and since it happens for me on all of the ROMs I suspected that maybe it's just my device that is broken but I reverted back and reinstalled original EMUI OS from the Huawei recovery thing, and when testing it on EMUI everything works fine, audio is good, camera works.
So idk, it must have something to do with A11 ROMs?
I havent tested other non-A11 ROMs, so idk if there's any difference there but yeah.
One of the other problems is that applications aren't able to preview photos when you're trying to select photos to send. On FB Messenger for example, it says "Error loading media" for all of the images. On other apps like Discord/Twitter all images appear black/won't load.
This probably has to do with this what you posted:

But yes, I really don't have a clue what the other issues are related to but let me know and I can send some more proper examples and explanations or something
I have fix the error "Error loading media". See my thread LeaOS and install the last fix

Hi,
I manage to reproduce the problem on my version of lineage 18.1 and on my PRA-LX1 . I will try to fix it.
Thanks,
I've updated my phone, "Rhone", to the latest version of crDroid by AltairFR.
My update curve was although different.
I HAVE had installed previous version of crDroid on my phone.
I've booted to TWRP, cleaned cache/dalvik cache, rebooted to bootloader, flashed latest system image via fastboot, rebooted to TWRP again, flashed AGPS patch, resized system partition.
After that phone rebooted to system normally.
I've had all my apps installed and working fine, my sdcard was mounted properly and all my files was still there(phone is using it as an extension to internal system memory).
The only thing I've noticed after first boot was a progress bar with sign "performing system update"!
The offline charging is working grate(no more reboots), thanks AltairFR.
With Syberia 4.4.280 kernel battery life improved significantly, IMHO + 1/3 of initial life on stock huawei kernel, yes it is "one day+" extra time!
What bothers me is the phone model in "about phone" information center.
If any one knows what files have to be edited to change it to RNE-L21 instead PRA-LX1 would be grateful. If it is impossible I'm fine with it.
Thank you very much,
Bests,
P.

unbelievable what your doing to this oldschool device.
Gcam works perfectly on it. Thanks a lot for this device!!!
This works beautifully and is really smooth. Never thought I'd see another rom for the XC again.
Can confirm that GCam 8.x with HDR actually works! (No crashes, or stuttering) Unlike previous roms with the most recent kernel before this new one. I don't know what magic you pulled to make this happen but thank you!

I haven't experienced this. For me normal browsing was pretty smooth.
Have you also flashed the kernel from the .zip?
I must say that for now everything seems to work fine for me (incl. Gapps).
Tested fingerprint reader, 4G, DRM with Tidal, smooth and responsive Maps / Android Auto, smooth Chrome. No sudden reboot for now.

You won't need to flash the kernel separately, it's included in the zip:
1. Boot to TWRP.
2. Install the Lineage zip file.
3. Reboot to recovery.
4. Optional: In TWRP, install/flash Magisk 24.1 and/or MindThe GApps.
That's it. No issues with Chrome lag either. I've tried a few browsers and they all work well.
I've tested a few GCams, I find these two work best so far:

In the Advanced Settings, make sure to change AI White Balance to "Pixel 3 XL" for best colour accuracy.
Note: For the front selfie cam to work, you'll need to disable HDR first.
Please post here if you find any other good ones!

If it doesn't turn on, you might have to flash the last Sony stock firmware first then install this rom.
Someone with the JA model might be able to help.
It works great! Very fast boot time. Everything is smooth, so far haven't noticed any bugs. Fingerprint unlock is faster than on stock and LOS 16.
Camera quality with the first GCam is also the best out of all custom ROMs I've tested. Great job! A new life for my old Xperia.

I've tested a few GCams, I find these two work best so far:
Parrot043: MGC_7.6.008_Parrot043_V7.apk
Download MGC_7.6.008_Parrot043_V7.apk by Parrot043.
www.celsoazevedo.com
Parrot043: PMGC_7.2.014_Relesed_V1.apk
Download PMGC_7.2.014_Relesed_V1.apk by Parrot043.

In the Advanced Settings, make sure to change AI White Balance to "Pixel 3 XL" for best colour accuracy.
Note: For the front selfie cam to work, you'll need to disable HDR first.
Please post here if you find any other good ones!

First , thanks for this Rom I'm very happy to See Android 12 on my phone.
I have tried Encryption and it doesn't work for me. I have a bootloop.
Has anyone else tested it?
And on the Encrypt page , I had astrange bug : I wasn't able to access to the"Encrypt" button at the bottom of the page . I had to set the police size at the smallest size to see it.

Agree, fingerprint detection and unlocking is incredibly fast, didn't think it could ever be improved this much.

That's Android 12. I wouldn't hold my breath that someone could port an older System UI over. You would have to get used to it I'm afraid.

Hello, exciting to see android 12 on this phone! A few questions:
* is this good enough to be used as daily driver?
* i remember previous lineage versions having problems with signal strength icon. Do your fixes include fix for this?
* i read some people having problems with wifi and fingerprint on lineage, but fixed them by going to previous stock version with better drivers, is that correct and not related to rom?
* do payments work with this rom? Google Pay and banking apps
* according to your instructions, we have to flash image through fastboot and not twrp as explained in other threads? will twrp flash produce the same result? maybe that's trivial, but i still do not understand the concept fully
* in other threads i read that you need to do factory reset from eRecovery after flashing lineage, do you not have to do that here?
* i could not find information about what this a/ab version is. can you explain?
Signal strengh and wifi are fixes by me since Lineage 18.1. I gave my patches to all the main developers of the GSI
This version of lineage 19.1 have for the moment two problems :
- offline charging
- bluetooth pairing not working
For daily use , use LeaOS Lineage 18.1 please

-I can't say that for any gsi for our device but it is subjective nonetheless.
-Signal strength is fixed by AltairFR (iceows). Darkjoker360 (Simone) included his fix in his latest emui 8 los 18.1 build as well.
-Fingerprint as in sensor or build fingerprint? Fingerprint sensor will say failed to enroll if you had fingerprint enrolled in emui but did not remove it from emui settings. Factory reset should remove it as well. As for wifi, if you install this rom on top of latest emui build wifi will work just fine. But if you switch your kernel to something else other than stock or harmonyos based kernel it will not connect to wifi. This is not related to rom.
Emui version <9.1.0.300 : You can use any kernel
Emui version >9.1.0.300 : You can only use stock kernel from your emui version or harmonyos based ones. (Turex posted a test kernel in his thread) if you want functioning wifi.
-Google pay is not present in my country so I can't test but it is possible to pass safetynet which should allow you to use it ig.
-As long as twrp you use works properly it shouldn't matter.
-Instructions is missing a step atm, you don't need to do a factory reset if you flash an additional zip file before flashing AGPS patch. 1-Huawei-DataPrep-Crypt-AB to keep encryption or 1-Huawei-DataPrep-DeCrypt-AB to remove it. These zips replicate folder structure of factory reset so you don't need to "reboot, flash stock recovery, factory reset, reboot, flash twrp". Wait for updated instructions or check the link below instructions (Vanilla GSI steps in Flashing Any GSI part).
-AB in gsi builds means system-as-root which p20 lite is. AB in device means a and b slots for each image which isn't present in p20 lite. In short you use A-only builds in emui 8 vendor but use AB builds in emui 9 vendor. Since AltairFR builds for both vendors his sourceforge includes a and ab zips and builds. If it says A, it's not for emui 9 vendor.
Update AGPS fix and Google Apps

No wpa2, I also tried to Hotspot from another device without protection and doesn't work again
I've had this kind of problem before. It usually comes from the kernel or the emui version. What version are you on?

What does "DRM patch for EMUI 9.1.0.405" do?
Another question: I can not pass SafetyNet. I have tried to remove root using PHH Settings => Misc Settings => Securize, but it does nothing. Even if I install PHH's SuperUser app (the Google Play does not have one any more, so I used v.1.0.3.3 from another source) I can not get it to work. I understand I am missing something, but do not know what. Any help would be appreciated.

DRM allows you to play protected videos in Chrome or Netflix. Without this chrome patch freeze as soon as there is a video. If you need to be root use the dynamic root option (treble setting) If you want to pass safetynet install the pixel experience instead
