Audio quality through USB-C - Huawei P20 Questions & Answers

Hey. I'm thinking of buying this phone as I can get it on the cheap. The only concern I have is the missing headphone jack.
How are you experiencing the sound quality though the adapter? Any complaints?
Thanks!

The sound quality is way better on USBc headphones.

The sound quality is not very good when listening through any adapter. The volume is very low and it's kind of tinny overall.
I am yet to try bluetooth.

No problems with audio quality using the dongle or USB-C earphones. Sound and volume is fine using my Honor monster earphones with the USB-C headphone adapter, better than the USB-C earbuds that came with the phone.
I normally use my bluetooth Honor sport earbuds and the quality is excellent from the P20.

Sound quality was ok via adapter for me. No signs of volume loss.

Alright, thanks for the answers

USB C Earbuds

Just had a set of these delivered today. Not too shabby.

I have a pair of the JBL Reflect C Aware USB Type-C headphones. They're okay. I wouldn't pay for them again. They were 200 brand new and have noise cancellation, but it isn't nearly as good as the noise cancellation on the Bose QC35 I have or the Sennheiser Momentum. It makes this weird underwater kinda sound to it, and the headphones are rather large/heavy. Also, you get ton of interference from when the wires rub against your clothes. They sound amazing though with that aside. I might have to check these ones out since they look much more light-weight.
The USB c connector on those headphones look massive!

On the JBL Reflect C, the USB connector doesn't actually bother me that much, but what does bother me a bit is the thickness of the cord that is being used. I'm hoping this is only a feature of the JBL headphones and not all USB Type-C headphones.

I'm pretty sure that's because of the chips used to process the noise cancelling, dac, etc.

So........the design is awesome, earbuds are super comfortable, and the cord is actually really good. However definitely had some interference issue last night when my wifi went out. Had to wiggle the cable to get it to stop. There is some static present during quiet moments during songs but the overall sound signature is much better than the wired earphones I have. They sound much better than both the original Bluebuds X and the X2's as well. I might not be the best judge of sound quality for wired sets as I've been a bluetooth head phone user for 4 years. My wired sets I'm only worried about being passable in the event my bluetooth headset battery runs out.
Music sounds great with the aware c on my pixel XL, but I can't transmit or hear phone conversation audio. Is there a reset. I've tried this on Android n and o.

USB C Audio Dongle

Hey all,
I got the Pixel 2 a few days ago and I love it, but there seems to be an issue with the audio dongle sound quality when connected to my car. Usually there's no problem with the dongle using it with headphones of any kind, but in the car (i checked the aux cable, no issues with it on other phones) there is some cracking sounds and the bass is not so clear as it is on other phones or as it is while using the dongle with headphones.
Anyone have an issue with the dongle?
Have you tried any other dongles? The Essential Phone had a higher quality USB C to 3.5 mm dongle compare to the Google dongle. I wish you can buy it. I saw this at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0778QKKFJ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1A7L2TLUUDQ97&psc=1 this might be better than the Google Dongle. I was going to try it to see. Anyone have any experience with this?
I haven't tried anything else, I just got the phone. But I unfortunately bought 3 dongles with it from Google to put on each of my auxiliary devices...
Ok I found out the problem while using the dongle on my brothers Pixel 1. The dongle outputs much more volume than a 3.5mm audio jack, so it's only natural that the bass especially vibrates more and causes this cracking noise. Solution is to decrease the volume on the phone by 1 or 2 levels.

Are bluetooth earphones better than wired earphones for honor devices?

As we all know that sound via headphone jack in honor devices is not that great. So i wanted to know if thats the same case for bluetooth earphones too or do they sound better compared to the wired ones?
technically, it's no doubt that wired has better delivery of sound quality. if you really want portability and comfort without dangling wires the best option is to go wireless.
in my own preference I like wired earphones,
wired one are always Better then bluetooth speaker /headphones
Used both Bluetooth earphones and wired headphones with Honor view 10. Bluetooth headphones sound a lot better. Also, connected via auxiliary cable and bluetooth in my car. Bluetooth is way better.
My oneplus 5 shows no difference in sound quality on connecting with auxiliary or bluetooth in my car.

Booster volume Usonic

Hi,
can i increase volume Headphone HTC U12 + with Usonic
There are no volume controls on the usonic earphones. You'll need to adjust the volume on the phone.
I just got the U12 less than a week ago and I'm a little disappointed to be honest.
There are hardly any bass using the usonic earphones and it's very treble-heavy and can get very tinny and piercing at high volume. Not sure if my earphones are detective because everyone seems to praise the usonic.
Yes, I've tuned them to my ears.

Thanks! I'll give the usb c adapter a go. Was kind of hesitant to spend more money on the U12. Shame they didn't include it in the box. I think this will be my last HTC phone.
Yeah, I wasn't impressed at all either. If I'm not using Bluetooth, I prefer the USB-C Razer adapter with the HTC Pro Studio headphones. So much better!

3.5mm Headset Mic

Hi all. Do I have a defective device?
I noticed my phone isn't recording sound from the inline mic except (very) faintly. These earbuds came with my work phone (Samsung S9) and all the buttons work perfectly. The earbud's mic works perfectly on the S9 and on the 3a thru the Pixel 2's USB C dongle. Just the 3.5mm jack is refusing to record audio.
I thought 'hardware problem' at first but the controls work perfectly and those use the mic circuit... right? So I'm not sure what to think now. Does anyone else have advice?
just tested it. everyone on discord could hear me
I'm a little confused here. Are the headphones/earbuds USB-C? The S9 and the 3a both have headphone jacks, so not sure why a dongle would need to be used in this situation.
Sorry for the confusion.
1. The mic on my earbuds do not work while plugged into the 3.5mm jack (buttons do work)
2. The mic works fine with the USB C dongle
3. The mic also works fine with my S9 (phone they came with)
4. These are Samsung AKG earbuds
Is that more clear?
my wife has a note 9 so i can find her akg earbuds and see if they do the same thing. the earbuds i tested are some ones i got off of fasttech. so maybe it is an issue with the akg ones
just tested the akg ones and they were fine. so it sounds like you have a bad port. i would contact google for a replacement
