Not sure Samsung will ever upgrade Gear S3 to Tizen 4.0, at least not for a long time, I'm sure Samsung will keep the latest version to the recently announced Galaxy Watch, leaving the Gear S3 in the dark with the terrible Tizen 3.0.
R760XXU2CRH1 for classis or Fri tier too?
Does this new update apply to the gear S3 frontier too with 3G or just the S3 classic?
TIA!
At the moment SM-R760 and SM-R770...
And as you know... LTE devices follow "later"...
Now idea how much later...
So no idea when SM-R765? and SM-R775? series will get newer update...
? is placehoöder for A-Z
SM-R765(S) Korea
SM-R765(K) Korea
SM-R765(L) Korea
SM-R765A US
SM-R765V US
SM-R765T US
SM-R765F Singapore
SM-R765N New Zealand
So it makes sense to check exact Model Name...

I received the update yesterday but I haven't applied it yet. My Gear S3 with T 3.0.0.2 has been working great so I wanted to come check here before updating. I don't want their security patch to break Samsung Pay on my watch.
Funny, any problems I had with my S3 disappeared as soon as I dumped my Samsung phone and got a Pixel XL 2.
Hi ! Where could I find the current CSC on my R760 and is there a list of all CSC and their country meaning? Thanks in advance.

No. You dont have to wait. Just change the CSC to XAR or XAC, install the update and after that go back to your CSC.
I waited a few days to see if anybody reported any bad news, but went ahead and applied the update yesterday. I had 86% battery and 24hrs later I am down to 16%. I used to charge every 3 days. Arrrgh!

I'm not having that experience. I've been off charge 18 hours and dropped from 97% to 75% (Around 1% per hour)
I left this morning at 7 am with 94% battery and at 10:34pm still had 83% battery. So 11% in 15.5 hours. I was having issues after taking the CRH1 update about 5 days ago. 65% in about 12 hours. I removed all gear apps on phone, reset the watch and set it all back up after the update and battery is really good.

Got it as well. Excited about the "battery optimization"... Says extra features as well but not sure what they are yet.

Almost a double here finally can sleep with it after a hardware work and not worry about waking up to a dead watch
Likewise, seeing double the battery life after the update. I forgot to charge my watch the night before was surprised to see after waking up the next morning that the watch still had close to 40% juice left.
That was a big surpise for me because I remember having just a bit over 50% the last time I checked that evening.

Just want to confirm that I am not missing a previous update. Can someone with the 3g model confirm that we still have not received the larger firmware update with screen time out settings and the yellow notification icon. We seem to have skipped 0KK and received the small 0L3. Thoughts?

Just a heads up. My battery life tanked after the update regardless of what I did. What fixed it was recharging a couple times. For some reason that worked.

No, it's really crazy that the $300 version of the Gear S2 still does not have automatic sleep tracking. I wish I could just flash it to the generic Samsung 3g firmware and be done with T-Mobile, but it doesn't seem to be a possibility (I started a thread here, but no responses so far: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s2/general/gear-s2-3g-t-mobile-version-flash-to-t3518844 ).
I'd also complain to T-Mobile directly, maybe if enough of us complain, they'll do something about it.

Hi rogerperk,
I have same Gear S2 732 in same firmware as you (in France), and for me too, battery drain is present
Sure, not as much as you, but now, I've got a "low battery alert 15%" at 23h00 when, before, I get to bed at 00h30 with 35-40% battery left ! For sure, there is something that change (same watchface as before) !
Sadly, 2 charging (and even more than 10 actually) dont change anything for me
Best regards
Not good. I recharged mine a couple times and did a factory reset and that seemed to do it. I'm actually getting far better battery life now. Over 24 hours and I'm only at 77%! I hope that keeps up! I cut out alot of stuff I don't use like NFC and constant wifi and heartrate checks. That sort of stuff.

Hello everyone. Today my S7 Edge received the December security patch which was released few days ago. It weights around 25mb and it definitely improved scrolling smoothness through app drawer and UI in general. I saw some other people report minor changes in system apps. So did you receive December update and (if you did) what are your thoughts?
I'm using the S7 Exynos variant (G930W8) and I still haven't received the December patch. I assume that your phone is the Snapdragon variant.

so i just read some disturbing cmnts on gsmarena. ppl are complaining that the new update has rendered their phone useless. rapid battery discharge, sudden reboots and shutdowns, stuttering etc.

Nice. Wonder when this is going to hit Canada here. We just got the November security update not long ago on Rogers. Really want this December update now.
USA Tmobile S7 customer. Just updated to the Dec 21, 2017 patch, and it definitely didn't fix the 2hr battery life problem the previous patch caused. I noticed over the past couple days that the low-light and rear camera pics had become less clear and less sensitive too. A brief test right now suggests that might be better. And it looks like they fixed the word prediction/auto-correct problem. We'll see how it goes as time goes on. Regardless, after being loyal to Samsung since the s3, I think I'll get the newest version of the Pixel next. This battery stuff is b.s. and, from what I can tell, it's affecting every s6/edge, s7/edge and s8/edge in the country, and has been since the Oct/Nov patch.
I'm not sure how a security update would affect navigation smoothness... ? Maybe it's about clearing the cache after the update install, not the update itself ? Anyway, it's always good to see it doesn't slow down the phone lol
And to answer the question, exynos version here, did not received any update yet :/

And if you don't like it you can always go back to former firmwares.
Received following update today.
Improves battery usage: Should have been implemented on the initial release. Samsung really dropped the ball. We should all get a new Gear S3. Wait!! I DID!!! Only took 3 returns, 3 different repair center results. Only one of the returns was battery related. All were result of heart-rate-monitor issues.
Received new watch from sammy on December 13th with tizen 2.3.2.1. That tells me sammy had no confidence in tizen 3 up to 7 days ago (adj for shipping).
I won't be updating to the full tizen 3 anytime soon. Ain't going through that battery crap again.

I received that a few times. Maybe it's something to do with them updating their servers with the new Tizen 3 they're releasing now for the people still on Tizen 2. I'd give it a few days if it keeps up.
For anyone wondering how battery life is after the mini update, it has been absolutely amszing. Any questions just ask away friends.
I did the battery fix update two days ago. With AOD on, my battery is draining fast. Did a reset 1.5 hours ago, and the watch is at 85%. I was getting the same drain before my reset.

Any chance that our Gear S3 Frontier will get the Tizen 4.0.0.7 upgrade like the Galaxy Watch ?
They are almost the same watches... and the new upgrade would bring some interesting things ...
Chance is very low in 2019... because only 1 month left...
But maybe in 2020...

I see many people buying S3 still. Prices are way down now so its a good deal. Would be shame if they wouldnt update. Im still waiting for HR alarms they promised long time ago. Manual of the device got already updated to have this functionality but the watch did not.
whats the difference between 4.0.0.4 and 4.0.0.7? I have both and the Galaxy watch did got an update few days ago(didn't checked the version tho) but not the S3, still running 4.0.0.4
I can't see any "signs" on SM-R600 nor Gear S3 family...

I hear a lot of concerns about battery life, but on my G3 Frontier, which stays on 24/7, is worn all the time, save for a shower, having the flip wrist to wake up and rotate the bezel to wake up off, I'm getting a little over 3 1/2 days of battery life. My phone goes off at 11pm to 6am with no wi-fi to keep it connected. I can charge it on Sunday night, take it off the charger and put it on, and Thursday afternoon, the battery will be at 18%.
Anyone else get that kind of battery life?
Tiny steps forward...

Maybe 1 reason could be... Tizen Version 4.0.0.8
GWA2 have only 4.0.0.7 as latest...
