Alright so, I've really gotten upset with Facebook ads. They are not only invasive (I play one game and get a ton of ads about random games), they are waaaay too frequent! Every 3rd post in my feed is a game ad.
I'm sick and tired of their ******** ads and want them completely gone.
I have AdAway and rooted Note 8. It doesn't however kill ads on the official Facebook and Messenger apps.
I have also tried a few 3rd party options like Friendly, Phoenix, Maki, and Swift.
All those apps are so-called 2-in-1, as in they have Messenger integrated into Facebook app. Most of them also have Adblocking which is great, but I have a problem with these apps.
First and foremost, it's because they constantly load something. You go to messages, click on a message: 1 sec loading, you go back: 1 sec loading, you click on the same message: 1 sec loading, you go to another message: 1 sec loading. It's very frustrating.
Second, none of those apps have material and fluid theme/animation. They look like something created in 2013.
Facebook/Messenger official app looks so much better and do not have the annoying constant loading. This leads me to believe that these 3rd party apps are created with Snapdragon -200 in mind.
Please, give me alternatives

i can see in the application manager that random apps are opening in background for no reason. any solution? or i go for cooked rom... i hate lg software
It is normal in all phone with android.
I noticed that some apps had opened in the background such as Maps and 3D game converter that I never actually launched myself.
I figured it was just because after flashing it did a big update of apps in the market (something that p1sses me off is auto update for apps, especially Flash player).
I went to app manager and closed them all but haven't look since so I don't know if any of them have re-opened.
I cant see random apps opening on their own, something must be launching them...
i flashed the rom last night but no difference today. in the morning i was running 8 apps and the ram was 50mB free.
This is Android's normal behavior: If it has free (unused, wasted) RAM it will open a few apps for you, so you feel like they are opening instantly when you try to open them yourself. If any app requires an extra bit of RAM, the system itself will kill those processes automatically without any user intervention so you don't even realize that they were open... unless you install a task manager and start to mess with it by making it start them over and over again every time you kill them.
TL;DR: It's for your own good, let it be unless you really feel unresponsiveness.
Thanks. also my device become bit laggy and when i kill all is ok. But... i can live with that.
Hi all
Just downloaded greenfly on my none rooted nexus 5, seems to work fine however when I select my apps to hibernate then click the button to hibernate them all its ok, but if I go back on my phone and press hibernate again it always re does Facebook and Facebook messenger even if I have not opened them since.
It's like they have reopened themselves.
Any reason for this? It does not do it all the time just at random times.

you are new to android? apps open themselves is the norn, especially terribly written apps like facebook. its designed to open by itself and work in the background. if you kill it, itll just reopen. facebook creates wakelocks that will wake it whenever it wants. you dont like it? root your device, install the disable services app, block facebooks capabilities from constantly waking itself and your device. remembered, with linux, its considered that not used up ram is a waste of ram.
This is one of the reasons why I use the web broswer instead of the app.
Did you enable the service in accessibility?.
As above Apps will wake up the device, if the service is running it should do that automatically,

Just going back to this is there a good 3rd party Facebook app that is more battery friendly?
Yep I was on stock rooted for a while with Facebook installed I would get 2 hours sot but as soon as I removed it I got 4-5 hours of sot
I have the HTC One M8, converted to GPE, and I typically run the stock Android "Browser" for the web, and I always have the AdAway .apk installed and up to date, and with Browser i never see adds online.,
Today I decided to try out Google Chrome for the phone, and it looks really and is fast, and some some of that Material Design theme, but I just uninstalled it after just surfing a few of my regular websites, and HUGE adds pooped up. On Android Authority a full screen took over for a few seconds, and on Android Police a huge banner taking up a 1/3rd of the page was on top.
WTF
I guess AdAway doesn't work on Chrome ? Is there something to kill the adds on Chrome ? I liked Chrome over Browser, but with these god awful ads, I have to delete it.
Any suggestions ?
This pop up ad appears many times a day.
Can't figure where its coming from and how to get rid of it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Download Malwearbytes and run a scan. Looks like adware.
Malwarebytes found nothing ugg
What happens if you go to your pull down from top notifications? I'd think it will show the running process. Hold your finger on it and should go to the 'notifications' setting for the app.
Start deleting questionable apps you downloaded recently.
I had an update recently installed on my Samsung s8. When I tried to play my music, my phone said I had to download Samsung Music Player, since then I've had ads popping up every 5 minutes. Every ad has the System UI logo and an app that I downloaded to monitor app usage confirmed it also. When I go into advanced setting or admin settings the buttons are blocked. Some say to delete any unusual apps, but how can I tell which apps or stock apps I really need?
Which music player did you install?
I agree with the Malwarebytes, you might also want to check out your skin theme. Some have sneaky ways of rolling out ads to your phone.
I notice many apps close when they shouldn't. I don't play any games at all and the most apps I use at the same time are Instagram, WhatsApp, Now for Reddit, Chrome and Spotify.
Maybe the last 2 apps stay in memory but all the rest don't. Sometimes even Spotify closes.
Anyone else experiencing this? I'm on Android 9.0.

I'm not having any of these problems. I have 15 opened apps right now, and none have been closed.
Stock or custom rom? I feel I'm experiencing this with custom roms on my Pixel, but stock seems to not have this effect (still waiting for my PH-1 to be delivered)
No problems like that here on unrooted stock, official pie.
I see the same with instagram and play music. Since the upgrade the closes in a minute or so and that absolutely sucks.
OP
Chrome Dev does occasionally reload for me, especially with 5+ tabs, but I expect CD to do so more than other apps. In the main everything stays in memory for a good enough time (hours +) with multiple apps.
Same here, usually I have a list of apps open in recents. They seem to be getting closed after not being used for while.
Already switched off Battery Management (thought this might be the cause) but didn't help.
I'm also on official Pie, no root or other tweaks.
EDIT: I probably should mention that I am using the la(te)st Xperia launcher from APKMirror instead of the Essential's default launcher. Not sure if this might be an explanation...
