Note 8 Case on Note 9? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Accessories

I realize the camera and fingerprint sensors won't line up properly, but I wonder if my old Note 8 case will fit the Note 9 as a temporary solution until I find the case I really want.
Looks like the dimensions arent exactly the same but pretty darn close:
Note 8: 162.5x74.8x8.6 mm
Note 9: 161.9x76.4x8.8 mm
Maybe a flexible TPU case might stretch enough? I guess the real question is are all the buttons in exactly the same places.

Why? It's wider and shorter... and how would you use the fingerprint reader? If we're spending 1000+ bucks, or even trade in the Note 8 for a chunk less, ...i'm sure we' can spend a few bucks more to properly protect such a costly daily use device...

Nah man, it's like the folks that buy expensive cars and live in a trailer. After spending $1k, I don't have anymore money to spend! JK.
OP, I just purchased a $10 clear case from Spigen for mine to hold over until more actual cases are made. I would a bumper case that matches the colour of the device. My wife pre-ordered the purple one for me yesterday.

I guess I should have clarified when I use the word temporary in my original post. I was more thinking that I want to give a few more weeks for the selection of cases to expand before I buy one. Not trying to cheap out on this just want to make sure that I get the right case for the phone and was willing to have my old Note 8 case on the new note 9 for a few days when I first got it.
When the Note 8 first came out I bought pre-shipping cases before the phone actually got delivered and I wasn't quite happy with. Then I got a second round of cases and even a third. Was just trying to avoid having a drawer full of cases I didn't need.

I just watched the unboxing of the local N9 (singapore) and it comes with a clear case. Not sure about the ones for your region.
That is kind of a relief for me as I'm still havent made up my mind on which Dbrand skin to get! lol

won't an old case cover the new sensor for fingerprint reader???

I tried my note 8 sview case on my note 9. The volume button placements between the two phones are not the same and resulted with the case not in line with the volume rocker, bixby and power button.

Tried my Casemate and DBrand Grip cases, and neither fit. It fits in the Casemate, but VERRRY tightly, and as mentioned above the buttons don't line up.

No they won't the Note 9 is taller thicker and wider. Screen is an inch bigger if your case stretches that much it's not worth it to begin with.

The Note 8 Tech21 case fits the Note 9 just fine. The button placement is off between the two and its really hard to get the Note 9 to register the press on the buttons with the Note 8 case. Maybe if you dremel/shave the Note 8 interior button location and then cutout the Note 9 button location you should be good.

You can't carry the phone without a case for a couple weeks?? I've had my Note 4 for four years, and never used a case. Doesn't have a scratch or smashed edge on it. Not getting one for my Note 9 either.
Either get a sock as suggested, or carry it around in the box it came in.

Agreed. Just do what I did, buy a cheap Ringke Wave case until more cases are made available.
The Ringke is certainly fatiguing to hold with it's smooth back and sharp edges.

If you have Samsung extra warranty, why not go caseless. I have a skin on mine that is it. It gets done in due to a fall, I have my warranty.

does the clear uag case get scratch easier than the other colors?
I had 1 case ****canned it. Don't use cases now, the manufactures go through so much design to make these phones fit and be slim it is almost a shame to put a case on it. I have dropped mine at least 8 times a few little dings, I wash it daily with soap and water and have yet to have an issue..
.lovemeicase.com/goods.php?id=74[/url] I just got this case and it is awesome, plus it doubles as a crime deterrent. I bought it off eBay though for only 25 I only knew about these cases because I had one for my iPhone 5.

Soap is not good on the phone my friend.
Body Glove case. Really nice grip, anti microbial, and feels very high quality. Snugs the phone tight. Also have the ZAGG glass protector and it works fine with it.
Spigen Tough Armor Case - Gunmetal
This case provide good protection and is very compact. I dropped my phone once and it seemed to provide very good protection.
The buttons are easy to press and I actually like the buttons are flat along the edge of the case, so the chance to mistakenly press the buttons is less!
The cutouts are very good. There are 4 tiny bumps at the back corners that prevent the back from scratches and lift the speaker a little bit above the surface you placed on, so less damping to the speaker.
This case feels high quality made, easy to hold in the hand, and looks good.
Agreed

I actually bought this case before I even bought the phone! It just gives the phone a rugged look and feel. With the phone by itself I didn't necessarily care for the look of it and knew I wanted a case for the S5. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. I even like the ridge edges it has and makes it easier to grip.
My newest spigen case in my collection.
Picked this up from a Cellaris kiosk in the mall.. Had one on my note 2 for the last year and it did an excellent job protecting my phone, so I went back and got one for my S5, I love the kick stand, but the one on my note 2 case seemed more durable than the one on my S5 cases.
They will usually mix and match colors to suit you, and I went with this combo, for the heck of it heh.
heres a link to their webpage, they have other colors at the kiosk, but you get an idea. most of the cases are cruddy, but the kiosks have otterboxes, kraken, and some other decent named cases.. this case set me back about $30.. worth it in my opinion.

cheers
I'm using the incipio teal/cyanish with grey. its kind of funny how small the phone is when I have to take it out (like 2 times now) but this thing is durable. I've dropped it and kicked it a few times and it holds up. love how it keeps my camera nice and tucked in. looks pretty cool too but it's built for abuse it seems.
These are my cases up to this moment. unfortunately, i can't use most of them since i'm using the OEM qi.

Best Galaxy Note 4 Cases

Excited for the Galaxy Note 4, its specs are good the Quad HD and the fast charging excites me so far it has received positive reviews making me want to buy one from my Note 2 jumping to Note 4, already picked a great case for the Galaxy Note 4 here it is
SPIGEN Tough Proctive Armor Case for Galaxy Note 4
But still thinking of other brands also any suggestions of the best brand?
My Number 1 is Spigen
iBiason is also good
and SUPCASE..
I am going to be changing my battery alot. Whats a good case to take out quickly n easily often?
Verus Iron Shield!
I'm going to buy a Lifeproof, Otter box or Seidio one since they are featuring water resistance
waterproof cases will take a long time, but if it is the identical size as before you can just use the note 3 siedio obex. ....thye take forever to develop them so note 4 waterproof wouldnt even be out by next summer
That's actually a great idea thank you for that, hopefully it works. If not I'll buy something from Otterbox or Spigen till waterproof ones are outthere.
I always buy a Spigen case & screen protector (glass) for my mobile devices.
How much thickness do the Spigen cases add? I've never seen one in person but it seems, from the screen shots that I've seen, that they might be a bit bulky.
OtterBox

Yeah Spigen adds a little bit of bulk to your device, but it has awesome protection. I personally only use a case outdoors and I must say the extra bulk never has bothered me in the slightest.
If you want a Spigen case that doesn't add too much bulk and still protects your phone in a great way check out the Spigen Neo hybrid (here's the one for the Note 3: http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-note-3-case-neo-hybrid.html).
My dad has one for the s4 and he's very happy about it. Besides that I think this case looks great.
Ah yes, I remember seeing that case a while back when the Note 4 news was circulating around. That might be the way to go although I really would miss that kick stand.

I also have the Neo Hybrid for the S4 and it's awesome. I plan on getting that for the Note 4 as well, although I'm kind of hoping they have some what of a curve on the back of the case like the Note 4 has. The S4 Neo Hybrid is boxed off like an iPhone.
Then there's the issue of getting a temporary case, as I'm assuming Spigen won't have the Neo Hybrids out for a few weeks after the phone release.

What cases actually fit the microphone on the Verizon model.

Since there are discussions on cases that do not work because of the microphone opening on the Verizon model not lining up, I thought we need a thread on cases that actually do work.
Has anyone found any cases that does not cover one of the microphone openings on the bottom?
I want to get a replacement for the Spigen Ultra Hybrid for just this reason.
Just a wild guess but I bet the cases Verizon is selling directly have the proper alignment (no idea though, can't check)? Why would they move the mic hole? I'm guessing to upsell their cases to you? "Oh well, these are the only cases that fit the phone properly, would you like to purchase for $40 now?".
The second another carrier (T-Mobile probably) get's coverage similar to VZW, I'm gone. I can't stand this constant messing around with the phones. Leave the **** alone Verizon, it's going to come back around to you.
The Supcase fits, they designed it with the different position of the mic in mind.
As I pointed out in the other thread, the Samsung protective cover works.
I'm thinking that other than that, your best bet is in store cases...
Yet another reason I'm happy to not be a Verizon customer.
I wouldn't purchase any third party cases without contacting the manufacturer first and ensuring the Mic placement on their case is open the exact mm away from the edge of the charging port.
This case might work, i ordered it for my tmobile note 4 but when i received it one of the mic holes was off.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NB3AFM6/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_kX3sub1MRVEWY

So wait stop, you mean to tell me Verizon actually moved the mic hole in their version?? Isn't that a little ridiculous? I thought it was a manufacturing error in my case since I just bought a random one off of amazon, but now it looks like nearly every case I buy will have this issue because verizon decided to move something in the hardware over 2mm???

Picked up the Incipio DualPro from a Verizon store tonight. The left side mic hole is elongated/bigger to accommodate the Verizon mic position. It it not covered by the case and works perfectly. The case is simiar to the Otterbox Commuter(2 piece case) but is a but thinner.
I get that incipio case delivered tomorrow, glad to hear it fits. I love the soft texture of the incipio case. I've used that same one on my last 3 phones and it's always protected my phones great.

Running armband or waist pack

Anyone seen an armband or maybe either a waist pack for a running belt that would hold the Note 4? I'm trying to find something that can hold it in an Otterbox case without having to take it out of the case for each workout. I can't even find an armband that would fit it naked and it doesn't fit in my Nathan running belt's pouch.
Won't let me post a link, but search SPIBelt on Google. I use one with my note 2 with a large case, haven't tried to fit my note 4 in it yet. They work great, if you have it adjusted right, and are wearing it correctly, it doesn't bounce around at all, and you can hardly tell it's there.

I have an armband for the note 4 as well but I can't tell you how ridiculous it feels and looks having a 5.7 inch phone on your arm. Might as well carry a boombox like the 80's...Seriously though I catch a good ribbing from friends who say I have a fanny pack but the spibelt is barely visible and you don't even realize it's there, holds phone, keys, cards, etc... I can do running and jumping rope and nothing moves in it. It just stays put, it's fantastic.

This belt goes over my shorts and my shirt covers it, nobody sees a darn thing unless I am pulling my phone out of it. But if you think a gigantic phone strapped to your upper arm looks any less funny, you are nuts! Besides I could care less how it looks, it holds everything I need it to so when I go jogging I don't have a phone on my arm, and keys jingling in my pocket. If I need to change music I just use my bluetooth headset or moto 360.

So.. I ordered the SUPCASE Armband. I would not recommend this case in any way for using it as an armband while running. It's basically just an extremely flimsy Silicone/TPU bumper case with two holes in the back for the strap to run through. From the pictures on amazon it looked like it was going to be made out of some sort of Plastic/Silicone. But I wouldn't dare go running knowing that any minute my $700 phone to flip right out.. or go kaaboom from the silicone ripping around the band. Anyways.. have it on eBay now.
Bump.
I want an armband because in the gym I use equipment and do exercises that would put pressure on something attached to my torso. Any more learnIng since November 5?

So this is the one I've made my everyday use. Absoutley ZERO rain or sweat gets into it. Stays in place and super comfortable. Hands down the best armband I've ever used. Expensive option in my opinion but after owning its worth every penny. They should carry these in your local Best Buy store.

So this company makes one called the i-40 and is their biggest model designed to hold both Note 4 & iPhone 6 plus. The one I have (i-35) will not allow for any case at all.. Very tight fit and from their website says its designed for the Note 3 but once I tried a test fit in best buy I decided that one would work for me. I can only assume that the next largest one should be able to fit the Note 4 with a case...no problem. It's also $5 more for the i-40

Bought this one in blue. Fits my versus Thor case and n4. I have 19" biceps and it holds well.

I know these are meant for bicep mount... Has anyone tried forearm mount?
I have this one:

It is snug with a Spigen Neo Hybrid case on, so it might not fit with the Otter Box. I use it at the gym only so I don't know how water proof it is.

best tpu case?

Any input on the best tpu case for the note 4... specifically the verizon note if it makes any difference.
I have the obliq. Tpu. Case it's great good grip on the side solid lip around display and not problem with mic. Holes it goes for about 8 bucks on Amazon
i have read that one of the verizon mics is moved slightly to the side than the other models. so one of the mics will be covered up if it wasn't designed for verizon version. i would make sure any case you buy says it will work on verizon model. i just got a 8 dollar case off ebay when i picked up my note 4. mine is a sprint variant. i am pretty happy with it for the price

diztronic is the best tpu case hands down and $9.99 and works fine on my verizon note 4

Nice looking case. How is the side grip when cold? For example, the Samsung protective case plus and Verus Thor get harder, uncomfortable and have less grip when cold but have very good fit, everywhere. Do you have any other cases to compare it to? Could you post some pictures showing the USB port, mics, and headphone jacks, please? And one more close-up on the bezel lip.
TIA.
haven't noticed a difference when the temp changes. we have had a few days in the 30's around here this week and don't notice any difference. it's only been on the phone 3 or 4 days. i just got it in the mail. still waiting on my glass screen protector to get in but i don't imagine it will be a problem
pics arent all that great because i was using the wifes old iphone 4

Thanks. The pictures are fine except that I can't tell if the white outer rim is soft TPU or a harder compound like a polycarbonate?
Also, how would you describe the grip of the sides and back shell?
TIA.
If you want full TPU, the Diztronic is the best game in town. If you want something with a lot more style and great fit, the Samsung protective cover should be given a look.

Grip is ok. I would think there are better cases for that. I wouldnt really say its bad or great but just ok. The black is more a firm rubber feel and the white is a hard plastic feeling material. The edges catch some of the black softer material when u grip it which helps a little. For the price i would say definately worth the money. I swap phones like crazy so i cant see paying more than 30 for a case when i will prob be rocking something else in 6 months or so.
I use the tech21 impactology case. I've dropped my phone 4 or 5 times (slips out of pockets when getting out of my car) and no marks or damage at all. I bought mine from Verizon so a little more expensive, but didn't want to deal with the mic hole issue
I have the spigen capsule, great case and I can even get the note 4 into it with the wireless charging battery cover on. Admittedly its a bit of a squeeze and using the heart rate monitor is a no-go
I just got the Samsung official protective case. I love it. I have a diztronic as well, and it's great, but damn this samsung one is thinner, makes the phone feel overall better and the buttons aren't as easy to push as the diztronic. it's a great case!

Diztronic for sure

This case is the best TPU case hands down. I have the diztronic and uag case and this case wins it for me. Def check it out.
I'm waiting for this to arrive

If it sucks, I'm gonna get the diztronic.
The Samsung case is the best case I own, but I don't consider it a true TPU case due to the textured back. As for the best 100% TPU case, that title goes to the Diztronic, which I also own.
