Hi,
I have a g930p running g930u Nougat firmware. I did an OTA update to Oreo and was not able to connect to my network after.
I'm in Canada and on Public Mobile which is owned by Telus.
I can see Telus, Bell, Rogers, and Freedom when I do a manual network search, but cannot connect to any of them.
I did some research, and I'm wondering if there are some issues with MVNO's.
My IMEI is present, so I don't think there is an issue there.
I was able to use Odin to downgrade back to Nougat. Everything works fine on Nougat.
I tried manually flashing the latest g930u oreo firmware after, and no luck. A factory reset did not help either.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Same Issue here
Hello,
I seem to have a very similar issue.
Ever since the most recent update (to Oreo 8.0.0) my Samsung Galaxy S7 will not connect to mobile networks. The network symbol shows full four bars most of the time (sometimes the crossed out circle), however never indicators for mobile internet. I don't receive texts or whatsapp messages, neither can I send them, the browser says I'm offline. I can't be called and when trying to make calls, after a split second I get a prompt "Not registered on network" and the call ends.
Internet usage works just fine when using Wifi.
Also, the issue only occurs on default network settings: When I go to settings->connections->mobile networks->network mode and select "2G only", the phone functions as I would expect it to do. All other modes don't work.
Things I've tried without any form of success:
Flight mode on/off
Several reboots
Wiping the cache
Manually searching for network operators (keeps on scanning forever)
Resetting network settings
Resetting my phone to factory settings
Unfortunately I can't cross check my SIM-card with other phones or other SIM cards on my device. Since I've been using both for almost 2 years now, however, I don't think those are the issue.
Device: Samsung Galaxy S7 32GB
Android Version: 8.0.0
Product Code: SM-G930FZKADBT
Baseband version: G930FXXU2ERGC
Build number: R16NW.G930FXXU2ERGE
Network Provider: Mobilcom debitel (Via D2 network, Germany)
I really hope somebody has an idea for a solution, this unnecessary issue renders the phone mostly unusable :/
Hi
A UK user here, I have been experiencing some of the same issues that you have both mentioned. For me however periodically my phone will stop recieving network signal from my phone operator '3' and have completely no signal. This has been happening for a few months now and has happened since the last major update. In attempting to solve the issue, I often reset my phone multiple times to no avail and I simply have to wait until the phone starts to recieve signal again! Very frustrating!
I am not using any type of custom OS currently (or ever previously) and that was my main motivation to join this site, to jailbreak my phone and see if I can overcome these issues through custom fireware or alternatively installing older firmware where this problem did not exist.
The problem is widespread, a simple google of the issue or a visit to the Samsumg forum and you'll find plenty of users reporting the same problem, however Samsung seems to be doing nothing about it. Honestly, I am disgusted! I paid a lot of this phone on its release two years ago and I have simply been forgetten about and no one seems to care at Samsung to provide a solution or any information at all.
Best,

Heyho,
about three weeks ago, my N5 suddenly lost it's signal over night and shows me "Emergency calls only" and it won't register into any network, just giving "Selected network unavailable".
When this occured my N5 had 4.4.2 stock ROM and rooted. I've unrooted it and updated to 4.4.4, but I still got the same problem.
Problem occurs with any simcard, while simcard works with other phones just fine.
Have deleted and reconfigured APN, but didn't make any difference.
I get a signal every few days, but I still can't receive text/calls or call/text anyone and my mobile data doesn't work.
I even tried to downgrade to 4.4, but that didn't solve my problem either...
I'm from Germany, but in New Zealand at the moment, so I really need my phone in case of emergencies and to stay in touch with family/friends.
I have been searching for a solution since it started, but have not been able to find anything that worked.
Sending it back to Google isn't an option right now because I am travelling.
I am really thankfull for any suggestions or if anyone knows how to fix this problem!
Cheers
Have you checked to make sure the network setting says 2g/3g/LTE preferred. Because I had this problem when it was switched to 2g only and was fixed by the above option
If the above fails trying going to your dialer and typing *#*#4636#*#*. Go into phone information and you should see a drop down box to select your network mode. Play around with those until you get a signal but you might not want to try CDMA options (WCDMA is ok) since you're on a GSM network.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
had exactly the same issue as you mentioned. Nexus 5 tends to lose network without any logical explanation and it tends to work at one place but stop showing network if you walk half a mile down the road (or may not show any network anywhere). Google has released an update in June in which they have updated the modem to solve the problem..given that I am in India and the June update was for India, Australia and Newzeland, it worked like a charm for me (all i had to do was flash the modem from twrp)..people as far away as netherlands have reported the modem to work for them..
NOTE: IF U INTEND TO FLASH THE LATEST MODEM, DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CURRENT MODEM PRIOR TO FLASHING THE NEW ONE..
check your sim card. if you can, try someone elses.
Alright,
I've tried every thing again so far, but nothing seems to work.
Sitting in the library, I noticed that I get a signal, when connected to WiFi, which stays for 1-2 hours after disconnecting.
But I still can't make any calls or text and mobile data doesn't work though the APN is correctly configured and and data enabled.
I really hope to be able to solve this problem somehow, don't want to put aside my beloved N5 :/

Edit: Haven't found any solution so far and bought a new phone for the moment until I'm able to send it back to Google.
Might be an hardware issue and not software related.

Hello,
I am experiencing a strange issue with mobile data, the most similar thread I could find about my issue is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/fix-workaround-mobile-data-connectivity-t1149716
I am using Samsung J1 SM-J100ML, Android 4.4.4, Kernel 3.19.17-366995, Mar 26 2015, bought new as unlocked rooted
The phone was purchased new and everything worked great for a few months. Recently I took a short trip overseas to Australia and bought an Optus SIM card and installed their android app from Google play (this was the only change I can think of that could have caused my issue). Upon returning home and using my normal SIM, I found my phone is now constantly switching between HSPA and HSPA+, sometimes many times per minute. This interferes with web browsing or using chat apps, as the connections seems it must reset, which takes a few seconds each time it switches. This issue is making is incredibly frustrating to use the mobile data now. I ruled out issues with the SIM card, no mobile data issues on my other Samsung devices in the same location.
From my searches on this forum, I want to try to access the setting "CHANGE HSPA REVISION" so I can lock my device to a frequency to prevent switching, or disable Fast Dormancy.
I tried codes such as *#301279# and *#*#9900#*#, but they are not working. Uninstalled Optus app and threw away their SIM card already. I also tried starting the phone in Safe mode, but I still noticed the mobile data issue.
I can access the ServiceMode using *#0011#. I tried many combinations of selecting "Back" and entering "Q" then "0" or "00", or "Q0", "Q00", "Q0000", etc.. but nothing works.
I called Samsung for help, but they never heard of ServiceMode, and recommended a Factory reset.
My options as I see it:
1. Factory reset (long process to backup all data, reset, restore... I want to avoid). I suspect my issue is software related and will fix the issue, but its not guaranteed.
2. Find the correct "Key Input" code so I can use the ServiceMode and change settings that may help.
3. Buy a new phone.
Any ideas? Any one know the correct Key Input code to get farther in ServiceMode for this device? Thanks.
This is a Galaxy S5 on the Sprint Network with Lineage OS version from a few weeks ago.
Last week this was working fine and then since Sunday cell service stopped working completely. The only change I did was updating TWRP, I did not update LineageOS, but I can't imagine TWRP would have affected it. I ended up reverting back to the stock ROM thinking I would have to call Srpint customer service, but then it started working under the stock ROM. Reflashed TWRP and Lineage OS and no service. Tried older and newest versions of TWRP and Lineage OS but nothing works except stock ROM (yuck).
The cellular connection says "no service" with completely empty bars. About every 5 seconds it will flash like it is connected, with most bars and the little R for roaming, then immediately goes back to "no service". I've tried changing preferred networks and looked at settings but can't find anything to fix it.
Any ideas? It's almost like the network is rejecting it but I don't see why it would matter if it is a custom ROM.
EDIT: oh yeah and on start up it says "Activating cellular service... This may take up to 5 minutes" or and then after a while says "Couldn't Activate" and that it may be fixed by restarting the phone (which of course doesn't fix it). Also I'm not entirely sure if it is related to roaming or not.
EDIT2: I'm wondering/betting this has something to do with the ICCID number. I noticed with Lineage OS installed it says "DUMMY_NV_ICC_SERIAL" but with the stock ROM it is a long string of digits. Now maybe I can change the ICCID on Lineage OS? Or maybe Lineage OS isn't reading my sim card properly (from googling what ICCID is)?
I'm having similar issues trying to use this phone on FreedomPop. It looks like the cell services sometimes continually crashes/restarts - a reboot usually clears that up. I also get no LTE data (3G works fine). I have the correct APN AFAIK (https://support.freedompop.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3322/~/apn-settings---lte-sim). Possibly related to the "DUMMY_NV_ICC_SERIAL" issue?
I've been experiencing this issue for a few weeks now. My LTE data is functional but I cannot send SMS while using 4G. The activation screen pops up when I restart my phone, and it will only activate under Sprint 3G service. I also have the same issue with the flashing service bars, every couple of seconds -- the only way I've found to remedy the lack of service is to turn roaming on and off -- after so many tries, the prompt to select my sim card pops up and it finally connects to the sprint network.
I dont know why this has worked for me but its been a struggle and a wicked pita for me. I use Tello as a provider which is a sprint mvno. This last time to get cell signal i had to flash a stock rom via odin doing a full factory wipe to the phone. I booted into the stock rom to make sure i had lte connectivity. Then booted to download, flashed twrp via odin. Booted into twrp. installed remastered remix 5.7? The next to latest ( marshmello version not neuget ) then booted into RR. Once there i switched it from global to LTE and added the tello apn. I can not connect but i have no idea why this worked. I would love it if someone could tell me why this worked and what i can do in the future to save myself some headaches, flashing factory rom every time i want to change a rom sucks.
I recently acquired a Permanently Unlocked US T-Mobile Galaxy s7 SM-G930T. Since I have Verizon, I flashed it to the latest Verizon Firmware SM-G930V from sammobile using the latest Odin. Everything went perfect.
The only problem is that the wifi will not stay connected.
It will connect for a few minutes at a time, and then, despite it saying it is still connected to wifi, videos will suddenly not load, apps will not open. I run a speed test and then it will show the little exclamation mark on my wifi signal, only then showing that wifi is not connect or having problems. It's very tedious as I go based off the wifi signal to and since it says it's connected i am missing important notifications despite my mobile data being connected. I have unlimited data with my carrier so i could simply stay connected to mobile data at all times, but i would like to have my wifi working again. Does anybody know what may be causing this problem.
I tried flashing it back to T-Mobile. and once again everything works perfect. except for the wifi. So i believe it may have to do with the firmware, or maybe i need another file or files that i still need to install? I have been researching it for a week and i just can not figure out a solution.
I tried resetting my router, nothing.
Different older firmwares for Verizon from Sammobile, nothing.
Resetting Cache in recovery mode, nothing.
Unchecking Smart switch (function for it to switch between mobile and wifi automatically), nothing.
Unchecked Wifi and bluetooth scanning, nothing.
Can somebody please help?
Just asking, what were the bootloader versions of the T-Mobile and Verizon ROM's you went back and forth with? *Bootloader version can be found in baseband number i.e SM-930TUVS4CRL1, The 4 is the BL.
Somehow my s8+ loosing reception all the suddenly.
phone has never been dropped.
i am loosing cellular signal all the time. no mattere where i am.
first i thought it was software problem, an did all the right things. safe mode, checking third party apps,
hard reset, an all that.
then i downgraded the room back oreo to see if it helped, no luck ;(
changing sim did NOT help either.
any suggestions? i have no warranty left on the phone as it a bit over 2 years old.
Mine is doing the same thing, even with wifi. It started after the most recent update. I have been googling, but haven't found much so I assumed that it was localized to me. I have never had connectivity issues with this phone before.

I am having the exact same issue, it all happened after I updated to android 9, even if you downgrade back to 8 it doesn't fix the issue, has anyone managed to find a solution ? Like henbone11 mentioned suggested sites with fixes from Google do not work. Thanks in advance
I was thinking bad modem software? Is it possible to get a older modemsoftware onto the phone with PIE installed?
Same problem here. Have not done any mods, always accepted the official updates.
Cant make or receive calls. (sometimes can make one or two calls right after restart). I do get text message notifications about missed calls. GSM data not working (sometimes seems to work for a bit but not enough to load a page or use maps.
WiFi and Bluetooth still work for me. so I'm using the s8 with another older phone for WiFi hotspot and calling.
Have done full factory reset, uninstalled all apps aso. Nothing brings it back - phone repair shops say they haven't heard s8 having these problems.
I have the same issue.
One day after I restarted my phone, it suddenly said no network connection. I did factory reset too, didnt fix it. Changed sim cards, still error.
I downloaded a widget that was supposed to turn the cell radio on and off. Cant turn the cell radio on either
Network Connection on s8

Hi,
This issue is quite easy to fix. As modem performance (connectivity) is linked to model configuration. Another word for this is CSC.
It is fine to change your CSC. Download a benchmark tool to monitor your connectivity and record values and do not feel afraid to update / change your CSC.
It can take a while to find the right one for you, not it will be worth it. Don't worry.
Note: CSC changer can be easily found in XDA.
Note: a restart may be required to take the configuration into account.
Cheers

Hi.. i want to do your solution.
What benchmark tool to use? And is there a tutorial for the process?
Thank you so much for the idea.
I moved to another country and used a local sim card, worked for a couple of days and then it's suddenly no network.
IMEi still ok.
Phone still detects my number.
I've tried
resetting network setting
factory reset
Flashing latest unbranded firmware via Odin
Still no luck.
The mobile radio switch won't turn on.
Ping test fails.
Sometimes I wonder if this is a hardware issue.

Why would this work? Phone worked normally before. Same country/same provider. Sometimes still connects to data network for a minute and then drops all cellular connection again.
Why would changing CSC work.
Asking because changing CSC is not easy for me and I don't see why would I need to change it if it worked perfectly before. NFC payments worked(still work) , data/voice calls worked perfectly for 2 years. Then suddenly didn't.
