Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked before but is there anyway to flip for the front camera for apps like Snapchat so you can use filters and videos without them being upside down. Thanks:good:

Cheers for the suggestion but as per the above it doesn't work for Snapchat. Doesn't seem that there is any solution at present. Pity because everything else about the phone is super.

Yeah sure Snapchat could add the functionality but would be great to get a workaround.
I have a little trick, but I dont know if it works with Snapchat, but it works with Instagram, and Facebook, which I use both.
1. Unlock the screen rotation.
2. Open Facebook.
3. Turn your phone 90° so Facebook will be in landscape mode.
4. Turn your phone again 90° so Facebook App will be upside down.
------ 90° each, because sometimes turning it 180° doesn't work
5. Lock the screen rotation.
6. Open Instagram. It is now upside down, and selfie camera for stories now work normally.
HTH. I also hope this works with other apps.

With this method snapchat rotates the whole camera feed so in the end it comes up upside down. I think it's snapchat's fault, we would need a modded version or a proper update for our phones.

How do you take a selfie in portrait-mode (to get the blurred background)? It doesn't seem to do it when I take a normal selfie nor does there seem to be an option or setting on the selfie camera mode. When I go to the portrait mode, there in no option to switch to the front camera.
Any help would be great! I've looked all over for an answer.

Do you mean just open up the camera, switch to the front camera and then go to portrait? Cause when I do that it switches back to the front facing camera ?
update the camera app from the play store and you should be good to go.

It seems like that's not an option since the camera is a default app. Doesn't even show up in my apps in the play store.

Go to My Apps and Games from the menu in the top left of the home screen in the play store. Do you not see any updates available?

No I have it set on automatic and it says no updates available. I tried turning everything on and off as well just in case and checked on both WiFi and data connections

UPDATE: there is a cool feature I found under settings. Click support at the bottom and it allows you to chat with a support and then do a screen share. He did a troubleshoot for me and figured out that I am in fact running the version of camera that doesn't have the front facing portrait. He said the update is being released in batches and that is why it's not in my play store. Thanks everyone for your help!

Why?

No phones work 'upside down'
I saw myself now on other smartphones.
I was used to an old cheap Chinese smartphone that did it.
Is not there a trick to do it?

Use this app.
You can use GravityBox to unlock rotations in every direction, including vertical.
You would obviously need a rooted device with Xposed running to do that.
I discovered a quite awesome bug that allows me to use my XZP upside down. You don't need to root or anything like that.
Steps :
1. Download the Twitch TV app from the PlayStore.
2. Open it. (You might need to create an account)
3. Rotate Device.
4. Press the home button.
5. ....
6. Profit!
When you are done, just rotate the phone to normal.
PS. I typed this comment why my phone upside down.

Hi Guys, I am using stock camera and I am recently upgraded to Android 9.0 The problem I am facing is whenever camera detect faces, it automatically goes into Portrait mode. This is annoying especially in night time when shooting under artificial lighting condition. While taking group photos, its unnecessarily blurs the background and edge detection is also not good.
I would like camera to take normal photos not Portrait. I have checked all settings but there is no way I can disable it. Really hoping I get my working GCAM as it was working on Android 8.2, till then have to use stock camera

Lol, sorry to say, because I'm rarely use the camera. Good luck to find the answer :good:
Recently got the Mi Mix 3 and having some quality of life issues with the camera.
Firstly it doesnt seem to play well with Snapchat, in that if Snapchat is set to currently use the front camera the notification "Push the screen down to open camera" does not go away, so even if I am just chatting or something, that is there. Any ideas how to remove it?
I am also wanting to leave the slider gestures on so that when I slide the phone down it will open the front camera in the camera app. However again this does not play ball with snapchat or whats app, it will automatically open the camera app even if another app is trying to take a photo.
Any ideas how to fix either issues?
For me the notification goes away after a few seconds if I don't touch the phone
I keep the camera orientation on the back camera for those kind of apps. Then it won't bother me until I need to use it. But if you want to keep it on the front ig it's something we just have to deal with. At least it goes away though.
I also have my slider settings to open the camera and it works fine when I have other camera apps open. Just need to make sure you've turned to front camera in app before you slide.

Yeah I have got used to it. Do you have your slider options set to "Take a selfie"? When I do that even if Whatsapp is on front camera and slide down, it opens the camera app itself.

Is there actually a method (with root or flashing ofcourse) to get rid of it altogether?

Yeah they're on 'Take a selfie ". And I just checked that out on my Whatsapp and it opens the camera within the app. I don't know why your device seems to be doing that.
Idk if anyone else got that problem but since 9.5.8 update whatsapp is turning every selfie picture into landscape mode wich is really... dumb.. i dont have screen turning or anything on... anyone an idea?
Yep same thing here
Can report the same issue after testing just now. Couldn't a workaround be taking a pic from the stock camera, and then uploading it to WhatsApp?
