Viper4android - Huawei MediaPad M5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Has anyone successfully installed viper4android on the mediapad running Magisk?
I can't get the driver to work at all.
Tried Busybox, set su permissions, but no luck.

Viper4Android is not known to be compatible with any EMUI 8.0 devices.
Music Volume EQ is the only EQ I have found thus far to work system wide during bluetooth playback (although bass boost needs to be disabled).

Ohh cool cool
Whats the way you installed it?
Followed this guide for the g4 it works great on g flex 2

Works great for me too. I also followed the above G4 guide. Unsure of battery drain at the moment.
I have been using this for more than a month and no battery drain issues or any other problem. Works perfectly. And yes I had followed the same G4 guide.
Phone Speaker profile + Surround sound!
I made a V4A profile after installing the Surround sound mixer_paths.xml found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/development/surround-mode-h955-t3376881/ (also edited volumes in post 3 of that thread.)
After installing V4A, go to Menu > UI Setting > select "Expert"
On the Phone Speaker tab:
Enable V4A-SpeakerFX
Enable FIREqualizer > Preset "Treble Booster"
Enable Convolver > Impulse Response "SonicHunter Speakers.wav" (Download it here, unzip and copy the .wav file to sdcard/ViPER4Android/Kernel/ folder on your phone. Credit to Vinardo_ZzZ 2000 and his awesome V4A IRS thread here)
Enable eXtra-Loud > Moderate > 6x > -6.0 dB
Output Gain 4.1 dB
Limit Threshold -3.0 dB
You may need to tweak the dB values according to content, but this particular V4A convolver combined with the surround sound mod has made for a pleasant stereo experience for me. Hope others will like it too.
I also suggest trying out Viper4713's Material mod for V4A 2.4.0.1 found here. Makes the app look that much cleaner.
@PhantasmRezound tried your settings but my earpiece speakers still distorts a lot. Better than original surround mod but still far from an enjoyable result. I think flex 2 earpiece can't be pushed to high volume. Thanks anyway

There is always a possibility for slight variance in hardware (aged speaker/phone case altering sound) but especially source material plays a part too. I was listening to a lot of music and movies just fine without extreme distortion... then certain YouTube videos that had clipping from poor gain and low voice tone distorted the earpiece for me too.
You can try to redo the surround values even lower, maintaining a difference of about 8 between the the speaker channels to maintain stereo balance. You may also use V4A from here and alter the last three gain values until the distortion is gone. For one video with clipping I watched, I had to drop eXtra-Loud to -10.5 dB and Limit Threshold to -6.0 dB to eliminate the clipping causing distortion, then reboost the Output Gain positive step by step until volume was higher again, without distortion.
Going to experiment with the high-pass filters and possibly other Qualcomm biquad filters in the mixer_paths.xml file next.

Same, anyone know how to solve this?
Make sure you are rooted successfully and your SU manager app is allowing root to those programs (using Chainfire's SuperSU here.) Ensure Busybox is installed and running properly (using Stericson's Busybox Free here.) SELinuxModeChanger should have Permissive pressed in/greyed out; reboot for it to take effect first time. Verify Permissive system in the system Settings > General > About Phone > Software. Make sure you're using the latest version of V4A compatible with LP (2.4.0.1 at this time.) Install V4A drivers from its menu and reboot; check Driver Status and it should read "Normal." If it doesn't, something above is broken or perhaps another audio mod may be conflicting (if you installed other full system EQ style mods, not stereo/boosted speaker simple mods typically.) If Driver Status is greyed out on the V4A menu you need to change FX Compatible mode to Normal. (Compatible mode isn't system-wide effect and only to use with certain audio apps like Poweramp that run EQ functions of their own alongside V4A.) Good luck and hope you can trace the issue down.
Thanks a lot. I got it working. What audio source are you using to test it?

it works except for the sony sound settings,
also if it works on any other rom please post the status

yeah but dolby and v4a works right, im gonna try for cynapop will update post then
Everyone know Dolby and v4a working in CM13.
Flashed this mod with DD+ and it made everything sound garbled without even turning the mods on. All apps seem to work, including Sony player but results are horrible, something is broken there.
Oxygen OS 2.2.0 with Boeffla kernel
Edit: even bigger disappointment is finding out that V4A does not work on OOS. Damn!

I have tried this one three different custom CM13's so far and the Divine Equalizer has worked on none of them. I can get V4A working, but only if I install it using the "LoliViper" ZIP. Is there a fix OP or am I just screwed?
@Rub It is maybe you need to change selinux to permissive instead of enforcing?

Just tried it on CyanOxy and yes, short answer would be that it works but results aren't so impressive. Distortions creep in, while bass was lacking before this now is overblown and I can't find a way to tone it down effectively. V4A is hidden somewhere in there but installing regular app doesn't seem to work for adjusting, parallel to that there is so much sound processing that it is insane. Divine eq doesn't respond, two music players also fall apart when skipping songs. Not good. Maybe on some other phone or ROM... so for now, nandroid back and use just clean V4A. Although even that worked better on CM13
New v7.00 seems to work, and also has new approach - base zip with addons and/or apps separately :good:
Nope. Bluetooth is gone after flashing. Sound seems to be better than before flashing it, but with V4A turned off. Turning it on just ruins everything, so there is again too much processing out of users control.
Dolby Atmos is only other visible app and it just has to be turned off or crackling and distortions go over everything
Also volume control is broken, full volume is about on half of the scale, with horrible distortions, then it tones down and going louder again, only with more horrible distortions. Ugh.

Any way (.zip) to uninstall the Viper ?
Its pain in $$a to restore the ROM from TWRP
Viper is no problem but all other libs and changes are impossible to remove. Always backup before flashing this kind of stuff, then restore takes only a minute

I'm running H2OS 6.0.1 (V1.4.0) Firmware Version ONE A2005_24_160513 and it's working for me.
All I did was set SELinuxMod to Permissive using the SELinuxModeChanger app and used the Dolby Atmos Remover zip to remove DA mod. Working great with my headphones but haven't tried bluetooth audio yet, which is when I use my phone for music most...
Backup data first!
worst thing to flash. broke both my speaker and headphones. worst sound mod ever madhe.
Yup.
Problem with bad audio was on first OOS3 beta and later it was fixed, and with Dirac HD (whatever that is, sound is ok) on final OOS or V4A (which still plays funny with bluetooth, needs user fixing) - I don't see the point of these mods. They just create more problems, and do sound processing without any user control and cannot be turned off. That is just nasty.
Anyway, it is impossible to make it sound better with some software mods, it is just an illusion. We need better hardware, better DAC, better amplifier to really get better sound. Using OTG, or maybe just in-line headphone amp from FiiO or something similar. Short of that, V4A is more than enough for some tweaks.

Viper4android

Anyone successfully installed a working Viper4android sound mod? Tried it bit it produces an awful effect on speakers.
I tried it too and it doesn't make the speakers sound good. Maybe because of Stereo Speakers ?
Maybe it's because our xperia xz's equalizer and audio tweaks are having conflict on viper4android. I observed that when it works the bass doesn't seem right, when i adjust the default equalizer then viper4android stops working.

No, just extracted from the zte axon 9 pro. Pie beta build
Thanks brother
Is it working fine ???
Been running it since OP plopped it on here and it's been working good. No crashes or weird behavior.
What is different from previous versions is that the various presets have all equalisers flat. And no settings for volume leveller or increased bass. Would be nice to know what the presets equaliser settings would be. I am using a TA-1021 Nokia, not sure if that is a phone thing. Would be nice to have the presets set to its proper settings. Like Dynamic, Intelligent,. warm,..
On my Nokia 6 2017 TA-1021 (Android 9), I hear no difference in sound quality ie. with or without the app. Anyway after the upgrade from Oreo 8.1 to Pie 9.0, the Doby Atmos feature dissapeared.

Yes me too but toggling the default Dolby Music/Theater mode settings has no effect on the sound. It is broken.
Yes the app stays open etc but it doesn't change anything unfortunately
I've a doubt!
Does the Dolby Atmos enhancement is for Out-speakers or for Earphones?
Why I'm asking this is because when I turn the Dolby settings off, the sound volume from the speakers is little bit increased but it's noisy. When I turn the settings on, the sound "quality" is good but the volume is too low.
The sound enhancement is working properly only with earphones.
(This is not about the app uploaded of this thread. I'm talking about the Default Dolby surround sound settings in the Nokia 6).
Please answer me, if anyone knows!

i think this dolby atmos working well in nougat version both speaker phone and audio peripheral. But after update in oreo even on pie, its not working as we have expected. In this case, on nougat speaker phone get stereo feels.
On oreo still has stereo but louder in bottom speaker, but in pie earpiece speaker volume is so low. we cannot feels stereo feels anymore, i think just we only heard right or left only of playback.

Try changing the vertical frequency bars, you will get the difference. Increasing the dB of left hand side bars will give you better bass. I am using the same device TA-1021. The difference is clearly audible?
How to download

New Dolby Atmos App
Download Dolby Atmos App DAX2_2.6.0.28_r1 (63.18MB) from apkmirror website, just search Dolby Atmos apk in google & u will get the results.
Download this version of Dolby Atmos App, it will change your sound setting and gives better sound output than default Dolby app on Nokia 6 device. Try this & comment if u like...

Equalizer for Non Rooted on Android 11 like Dolby or Viper4Android

As per the title
Non rooted phone on Android 11 and had it rooted on 10 and had viper4android installed and good for listening to music and general volume
Now looking for something similar for non rooted on Android 11 as non of these available.
I mainly listen to Spotify and also use bluetooth headphones for this and for taken calls
i was looking at Poweramp but any other suggestions
Cheers
Hi, I think Poweramp is the way to gofor non rooted. Personally use both, Poweramp and viper.
Trying out wavelet and can be used with Spotify.
Have not paid for the premium version see how it goes first
There is nothing better than Wavelet for non-root. It's made by the same people as viper4android.
Does Wavelet work with Dolby Atmos or is it better to remove this via ADB?
Also have Jabra and Sony headphones and they have their own apps so not sure if thiere is any conflict ?
Also have to put the volume up to full to get full effect
Can volume be controlled so as to not put the volume up to full
