Facts about the topic "Android 9 Beta"
Greet you Nokia friends. My curiosity lures me back to you here. "Android 9 beta" can someone say something more specific? I want to have. all information and news desired.
Greetings from Germany
The Nokia 8 is not in the Android Beta programme as it's not compliant with project treble and is not an Android One phone.
However; it's OS is as near as dammit standard Android which should make it easy for HMD/Nokia to bring it Android P quickly, and they've confirmed the phone will receive the update. The main hurdle is the lack of onscreen navigation buttons which play a large part in the UI change, as well as how the data partitions work for the OS. HMD/Nokia have said that they will still bring it Android P in spite of this though.

HMD does not always do what they say.

Hello, I thought the Nokia 8 will receive Beta Android. We received beta Oreo by signing up to it on the Nokia website. Has this changed since?
Nokia 8 had the Android 8.0 beta, am i wrong? What's changed?

Hey guys ...
I have maybe a good news
As i saw some news in the Internet .. the Nokia 6 phones start getting Android 8.0 Oreo version
Maybe the update going rolling out gradually
As here in the photo, we see the update rolls out to the Nokia 8
But actually the update rolls Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and Nokia 8

I think the title of the post is misleading. The Oreo update has only been seen on Nokia 8. Juho Sarvikas has announced it only for Nokia 8 officially, as of yet. No other Nokia variant has got Oreo as of right now. Maybe we'll get it soon but it definitely hasn't started "hitting Nokia 6". Some people haven't even received monthly patches yet.
Android Oreo Beta for Nokia 6 is now available for everyone! HMD Global just made a lot of Nokia fans super happy and excited as they open up beta sign-ups for Android 8.0 Oreo system update for the Nokia 6 through Nokia Beta Labs. This means, HMD Global will be rolling out the official Oreo update very soon and to finish that up, they need all the help and feedback from existing Nokia 6 users.
Nokia Beta Labs previously offered Android 8.0 Oreo Beta for the Nokia 5, and now with today’s update, Nokia 6 users can get a taste of Oreo as well. We signed up with our Nokia 6 and the process went super smooth. All you need to have is the IMEI number from your Nokia 6 and the network it is on. Both of these things can be found from your phone settings area.

So, Android Pie 9.0 is released today, and the update will be available today for Google phones as well as essential phone.
Anyone who has used Vivo phones in past has any idea how much time does Vivo take to release the new version to their devices? Eagerly waiting to taste a new Android and hoping that Vivo cuts down the Extravagant iOS-ish UI and goes for much cleaner, stock UI.
Could take 3-4months at the minimum .
Starting today, an over-the-air update to Android 9 will begin rolling out to Pixel phones. And devices that participated in the Beta program from Sony Mobile, Xiaomi, HMD Global, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Essential, as well as all qualifying Android One devices, will receive this update by the end of this fall.

Great to know! Hope they release an update to Nex soon and demonstrate their dedication to international audience.
Anyway, android p or not, we won't see the difference with "Fun"touch OS
I wish there was a way to load Stock Android on this thing.

Only if vivo give us appropriate source codes. Or all specific peripherals, especially pop-up camera and fingerprint will be not working. The problem is not with loading itself, OEM drivers are needed to compile stock android for using with this device.
Vivo is working on Android 9 for their best phones , i found this picture at official vivo china forum. hope ANDROID 9 come in this year for nex s. they have internal test now

Sometime in November for Android P ?
looking forward to this update...
Yup, me too. But we won't see much UI difference since it't Funtouch OS.
I wouldn’t expect it earlier than end of December for Nex S.

No unfortunately we won’t.
Funtouch OS will remain with the same restrictions as before and iOS style UI.
Only hope to see improvement with some key elements feature like unlimited third party app notifications support to AOD.
Current status really sucks.

Huawei delists the Mate 20 X and Mate 20 Pro from its security update schedule
Embattled smartphone makers Huawei has now removed the Mate 20 series from its security update schedule, in a move that mirrors what happened with the Mate 10 series a year ago. The phones include the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 RS, and Mate 20 X.

ouch... thats harsh, i would have at least expected one more year of security updates only, without major android updates. harsh especially since EMUI 11 isnt even out of Beta status yet...
edit: hold on a sec, we're still gonna get updates, just not regular ones anymore!
quote - "If the Mate 10 series is any indication, this doesn't mean that Huawei will stop sending updates to the phones entirely. They'll likely still receive patches; regularly for some time, then slowly afterwards—over the course of this year, at least."
ok, this i can live with, way more smooth than just going cold turkey
The Mate 20 X is getting Android 11 & EMUI 11 from what I have read.

Ahh right. I didn't know that.
I'm still on EMUI 10.
So do we think the Mate 20 X will ever get anymore updates after the EMUI 11 update?
Major updates no. So no EMUI 12 or whatever it will be called.
However, Security updates will still come most likely.
Man don't u read news ??? 50 series , 40 series 30 series and 20 series gonna have Harmony OS ...
Why u even missing some ''fake'' security updates'' ??? they don't do anything just overwrites the date that they will keep you happy ... don't be pathetic
will sth like harmony OS get into beta for this Device?

im skeptical to switch over from an largely open source (AOSP Android) to a completely proprietary OS fully designed by Huawei... not seeing any benefits, but i agree insofar that having more choices is usually better

This is the first batch only. It will come out later, but there is no point. Android 10 100% with some UI changes. Also, there will be no security updates for Android 10 pretty soon. I use nova launcher prime since day one.
