Changing the pixel 2 - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

Hi everybody, I want to get your thoughts. I want to change my pixel 2 for bigger screen and near camera performance. I would really like to wait for pixel 3 but it is not sold in my country. Which phone would you advice? Oneplus6? Zenfone 5z? LG Q7? I made lots of search on my favorite Zenfone 5z which is smaller than op6 and lgq7 , what I found is; everything is good except camera which have potentcial with future updates and lack of water resistance.
Any advice?
I am old Samsung user s7, s7edge, s8 and won't but Samsung again. That is why it is not on the list.

Anything even close to the Pixel is Oneplus. Get a 5T or a 6. If the camera is really important to you, then 6 is your choice. 5T's camera is underwhelming at best.

I'm not into new smartphones anymore because I settled into my Pixel 2 and will have it until it's not supported anymore. But everything I know is that OnePlus 6 has a good camera, probably they will upgrade it with the 6T so I would wait for that to be announced and tested. I wouldn't consider a Zenphone because if the quality is bad at release, It would hardly get better in future updates. Also you can use various Google Cam mods with OnePlus phones as I did with my 3 which broke after It flew off the bed when

The only problem with op6 is that 6 months of renewal having an old phone in 6 months is very bad fealing even if I wait for op6t

No OnePlus phone is even remotely close to the pixel 2 camera.
OnePlus phone offer better performance, but their camera tech isn't flagship level

using a Huawei P20 as a successor to my P20. great phone and all but I miss the small form factor and the fluidity of stock Android.

expand your candidates, add pixel 2 XL

Keep the Pixel 2, try 424 dp, and large font size.

Should I swap the P20 Pro for Pixel 2 XL?

Hi guys,
I've had the phone for a couple of days. What bothers me are the fact that as a latest fragship, it cheaps out on bluetooth chip(4.2). Other devices like pixel 2 from last year already start using 5.0. Not that I really need the bluetooth 5.0. I just don't like being cheaped out to. Also no gorilla glass? I'd admit these are very minor "issues". Maybe I'm a bit of a brand whore. I just can't seem to enjoy looking at the ugly logo of the brand inside and out. The phone is from a contract with the carrier and therefore my choices are limited to what they have at this time. LG 7, V30, Pixel 2 XL to name a few. I'm not interested in anything with storage space less than 128GB (I don't like using sd cards, sorry but I think they are inferior), which brings me down pretty much to Pixel 2 XL. Now I notice there are people here who are coming from Pixel 2 to P20 Pro. I'd really like to hear their thought on comparing these two phones from all aspects before making the decision. I'm also open to other suggestions. Would really appreciate the input!

I would suggest waiting for Pixel 3 which is due out in October/November as it would be pointless buying it now.
You have described that you require Bluetooth 5.0 (do you have any devices that specifically require it). Bluetooth 4.2 can still be pretty decent as it has low power consumption
P20 Pro does come with gorilla glass

I don't really need the added benefit of the Bluetooth 5.0. I just don't like the fact that they have cheaped out on this comparing samsung has started using 5.0 since s8 and lots of others. It doesn't offer any confidence in this phone when knowing this. Waiting for Pixel 3 is probably is a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
The phone costs less though so you gotta expect some compromises.
Hell no, from my experience the XL2 runs fast BUT very unstable. Apps especially Google Map can quit while you're driving, or whole system can reboot anytime.
My answer is no, if you want to go down pixel line wait until 3 comes out.
I've owned the nexus range and the pixel xl and was going to get a pixel 2 xl, but they are overpriced for what they are (just like apple) and they are full of bugs just like the XL
Pixel line of phones have long lost there edge compared to the Nexus line.
One plus in my opinion make the best "stock" android phones. Anyway back onto topic.
Gorilla glass Vs the tempered glass on the p20 Pro. Both scartch at a level 6 on the Moe's scale of hardness. So I wouldn't be to concerned
Bluetooth 4.2 Vs 5 can't really see much of a argument in a real life setting to why anyone would need 5 compared to 4.2.
If you can't get a one plus 6 and you have to make the choice like now then it feels your online option is the pixel.
There is no way I'd swap my phone for the px2
Or the XL.
The 3 ? Maybe but I'd have to see it

am personally let go my pixel 2 xl after having p20 pro.
camera is more versatile. smoothness is comparable. screen color is better for doing graphic works (at least IMO), and this one might surprise you, my apps crash less on this phone than on my pixel 2 xl, and 6GB of ram wont hurt either (disable zRAM to feel the true smoothness of this phone)
now am using p20 pro as main driver and redmi note 5 Ai as secondary phone. saving 400++ bucks by doing so. cant be happier
If I could go back in time, I would keep my Pixel 2 XL. That is not without issues though.
On the Pixel 2 XL, Touchscreen is a bit iffy. Battery life is worse (7 hours SOT over a day as opposed to 9 on the Huawei). Display is a little dark, not enough brightness in sunshine. But, if I could go back, I would keep it.
The Pixel is smoother and faster in apps, scrolling is much quicker, graphics power on the Pixel 2 XL is better, the P20 is quite stuttery and laggy.
But I would stick with the P20 for now.
Pros of switching to Pixel 2 XL:
1. Faster, fluid and cleaner software stock android experience. I used Pixel 2 as a work phone and love the Google experience. People buy Pixel for software and camera
2. Faster update to Android P
3. Snapdragon 835 is faster than Kirin 970, especially GPU
4. Google's camera is much simpler than P20 Pro's
5. Pixel 2 has better Stereo speakers
6. Pixel 2 has Bluetooth 5
Reasons for sticking with P20 Pro:
1. P20 Pro has a much better screen to body ratio, more content on a smaller screen
2. P20 Pro's camera hardware is future proof; amazing night mode, the best in market; P20 Pro is basically a camera phone
3. P20 Pro has a bigger battery and well optimized, resulting in much better battery life
4. P20 Pro's face unlock is more convenient than Pixel 2's rear mounted fingerprint reader
5. Pixel 2 XL's screen quality is inferior to P20 Pro's, which has fantastic AMOLED display
6. P20 Pro is future proof because of 6 GB ram, although Pixel 2 XL works equally well with 4GB ram.
Long story short, P20 Pro has a better hardware, but poor software experience in my opinion. Pixel 2 XL's Google experience is a class of its own. Never got such a fluid experience on any phone ever (Not even on One plus series).
I hope it helps

Development hasn't been looking good so far, but i do hope we get some more going eventually. Also, yeah i hope stop EMUI gets improved as well.
If P2XL didn't have the issues with screen I would have probably got it as liked the Pixel XL, but I had the initial issues with the halo when taking photos, I couldn't automatically connect to Bluetooth devices and had to manually switch over. It never 6with wifi calling when switched network as that feature was locked to EE and it same on the Pixel 2.
I have a Huawei Watch and switching over phones lost my data as couldn't be backed up on Pixel phones and Google Fit is more than useless with not keeping GPS data and not showing correctly across devices. Apple, Fitbit, Sony and even Garmin apps better.
Even Huawei Health provides better data than Google Fit just shame it can only be backed up and restored on Huawei devices otherwise u lose all data.
I'm still debating which device to get next and may depend on Watch compatibility.

Thread from the dead: which phone should I keep?
So I found myself having my P2XL 128gb replaced by Google due to screen burn and a new (refurb) one arrives tomorrow.
In the meantime I had been rolling with a Huawei P20 Pro and it's not bad... Camera IS LOVELY and battery life amazing but I run Rootless Pixel Launcher as I can't stand whatever Huawei call their interface.
So, I can get £300 for my pixel 2 on popular recycling sites or £353 for the Huawei. My buy out on contract is £267.50 so either way I'm quids in.
Now, which one do I keep? It's worth noting my work phone is rolling a P3XL and, to some degree, I need to be in Android Beta Programmes (Q next?) as I'm a dev PM. The P3XL answers this need.
Heart says keep the pixel and flog the Huawei. Head says Huawei mobile the newer model (though not newer handset as, if you remember, just getting a replacement from The Big G).
The pixel FEELS better to me but, as this is my social phone, I'm more concerned with the camera than anything else. Does the P20 Pro triple camera make it worth getting rid of the P2XL? The snail pace of updates to the P20 annoys but thata just me wanting latest and greatest all the time.
Oh, decisions decisions. Either way ONE phone must go tomorrow in the post as I've locked in the prices for both with recyclers.
What would *you* do? Snapper or Pixel?

Do not get rid of the P2xl because of the triple camera on the P20 Pro. The pixel is still the better all round camera regardless, and with its own new night sight mode, it just got even better.
Keep the pixel
Is it though, Patchy? I took an awesome shot on holiday where you could see Saturn and the P20 picked it out.
Ugh. I'm so conflicted!

I have both phones. It comes to preference, but yeah I find the Pixel always takes nicer photos. Way more consistent. Your call man.
i traded my pixel 2 xl because i was bored with stock android and the ram management was crap . portrait mode was better on pixel 2 xl. But i love the p20 pro for when zooming in pics the pics are still amazingly sharp

Share your memory with OnePlus

I remember those days when people used to laugh if someone had a OnePlus device. Most of them considered it to be just another Chinese crap. And today, owning a OnePlus device means you are using one of the best devices in the world. How time changes people's mindset.
Let us know what is your story/memory with your OnePlus device.
(Since the forum was opened in advance and we don't have anything to do for now, let's have some fun.)
Well.. I was always a Samsung/Apple user before OnePlus and I had almost every Galaxy Note, I used to upgrade every year. When Samsung messed up with Note8 I decided to try another brand and I was kinda scared at first but now I'm in love with my OnePlus phone. It has TONS of amazing roms unlike Samsung devices (especially ones with Exynos) and bootloader is easy to unlock, battery life is great, charging is.. unbelievable and OOS is the fastest rom ever. I love OOS gestures too. It's a device that You can easily keep for years.
Now when all these OP7 Pro leaks come out it makes me want to upgrade lol. The only things that are keeping me away from upgrading are:
1. No money.
2. If I'll sell OP6 I won't be able to keep my OP6 roms up to date and I can't do that to people.. so I don't know..
But we will see. Maybe I'll somehow get the money and get that OP7 Pro beast
I have no memory of the Oneplus?, but the 7Pro has my attention...
I am the one who first bricked OnePlus One in the world
Then again the first who unbricked it.
heres hoping the oneplus 7 can hold its own against the pixel 3 camera... once oneplus can match or beat pixel cameras, good bye google.
I remember the Oneplus One was a flagship device at a very reasonable price, and I thought "Wow these people are really doing things differently". I also fell in love with the design, the openness, well the overall personality of the company.
Now the price has become the same as similar devices, the design is boring, they use proprietary drivers and even the packaging is... meh. I got the 6T and for my next one I'll look at other brands. They've become another Samsung, which is great for them but not what I came for.
I'm using an OP 5T. I like the performance and the OS experience, definetly will go with OP 7 pro.

QHD, 48MP, 3D Front facing camera, UFS 3.1, USB 4.1, inbuilt FP, and some leaks suggests Stereo Speakers, wireless charging is a gimmick IMO. and its 44W charge on the 7 pro
My friend told me about the OnePlus One when it came out but with the invitation scheme and it being "another Chinese manufacturer", I didn't think much about their chances and didn't bother buying one.
Then I started reading a LOT of glowing recommendations and reviews, unfortunately I already had another phone (Nexus 4 at the time) so didn't bother with it.
When it came time to buy a new phone, the OnePlus 2 was out so I bought that, then the 3T, then the OP5 and next it'll be the OP7Pro
Yes l love my oneplus 5 for it's notification led and the headphone jack?

OP7T, as today
I went from HTC One, to oneplus one, oneplus 3, and now oneplus 7
Not sure where I will go from here, Prices have spiraled up and out of control. Back 6 years ago, my needs dictated using aftermarket roms, but these days the stock roms got me covered for what I need to do, and to be honest, I grew tired of constantly messing with flashing etc...

thoughts on how this phone will compare to pixel4xl?

I realize this is kind of a ridiculous threat because that phone is at least 4 months away, although I'm going to be in the market for a new phone, and as far as I can deal there are only two options for unlocked phones on Verizon.
seems like this phone has been getting fantastic reviews. Harvard do you think that the OnePlus will be able to match the hardware? Google seems to have always skimped on the hardware. I'm hoping for at least 8 gig of RAM on the Pixel 4. That being said do you think it is worth waiting for that phone or should I just pull the trigger? Currently have 2 XL and it is running great, I'm just getting bored with it
I assume the pixel 4 will be like the pixel 2 but with hardware upgrades. If you're bored with the pixel OnePlus is a good alternative.
The camera will be a downgrade if you do get the 7pro
I still think there will be a notch or a cut out but it will be a much improved over the 3 XL design.
At least 6gb of ram and better battery life is a must .
The screen on the 3 XL was very good and I'm sure the 4 will be the same but I can't see Google going for the 90hz.
Considering the pixel 3 is still the best cam with an older sensor. I could only imagine what Google could do with updated lens. Maybe wide or telephoto too.
Will be released with Q as well which is looking promising
Thanks for the messages. I assume processor will still be the same? I really don't care about the camera as much. And mainly concerned about speed and performance
Have you seen the proposed apple and Google handset forms. Expect a move back to big square camera mods, and big square panels. Yikes.

Well from what I heard about the pixel3's, OnePlus might have the pixel4xl beat in speed and performance. The OP7P has UFS3.0 and we have a RAM boost, not to mention other variables that contribute to a faster device like almost stock android with OOS. But that is comparing it to an older model... I guess for a final answer we will have to wait until the pixel4xl is released. I'll say the price gap might be significant enough to lean towards the OP7P though.
Pixel 4 needs major changes. Pixel 3 was a step back from pixel 2xl for me personally. 4gb ram with poor ram management made for a frustrating device. Pixel 2xl was one of my favorite phones ever. OP7 pro is very smooth like I was accustomed to with pixel 2xl. Yes camera is not as good but with some patience you can still get quality shots.
It's hard to tell, I would say the 7 pro will be faster but pixel will have better cameras.
It's easy for Google this year though, make a phone with the specs of the 7 pro, no notch and put their camera on it. Even with a 60hz screen I would be tempted. If they do something different I'm not sure what they are up to.
With a once a year concervative release, the Pixel line had always been behind. Except if you want a camera phone...
Google didn't have a good smartphone since Motorola Nexus 6. Before that, Google's (Samsung) Galaxy was a great phone. Except Google pays Samsung or OnePlus to make a new Google phone, I wouldn't bother. They are 2 years behind OnePlus and they are focused on ai and ar, not how to make good smartphone. Also, Google charges too much for crappy phones.
Next great phone will probably be new Samsung Note. The only thing missing on 7 pro would be lack of DeX (hopefully we get that with new iteration of Android OS), and 5x+ "periscope" optical zoom.
Pixel phones have never had particularly exciting hardware, especially if you consider how late in the year it launches. Once again, it seems like it will have a slightly dated look with semi-large bezels for a flagship. Their only redeeming quality is the software and the camera (which we know is also mostly about awesome software).

Pixel might not beat OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of smoothness and speed.. but camera is a different story.. I have 7 Pro and planning to buy Pixel 4.. if the performance degradation is really noticeable, I will return Pixel 4 and keep OnePlus 7 Pro
I think Pixel 4/4XL will be far superior to OnePlus 7 Pro in the camera department only at a guess.

agreed, I think Camera is the one area that pixel is always king.
although that aside, I was disappointed to see that it is only rumored to have six gig of RAM. I can't really see any of the other specs being better than what we currently have. Honestly I'm debating between the 7 plus, before XL, or the next one plus. All I really care about is performance and speed. I'm not a huge photographer

If thats the case then OnePlus 7 Pro is definitely the phone to get.
Don't forget that by when Pixel 4 releases, Oneplus will have a successor to this phone a month later
Big Nexus / Pixel fan here, having owned almost all Nexus phones, and the Pixel 2 XL and now the 3 XL, and only owned the original OnePlus One, but I have to say, that beast had a long life, with ROM's it performed very well for several years, a good 3+ years the OPO was still fast and smooth. But the stock Android experience doesn't seems as cool as it used to, seems a little laggy sometimes, or not as warp speed smooth.
Whereas Oxygen OS is super fast, extreme smooth, and has extra tweaks and more customization baked in. OnePlus phones is sort of like a Pixel that's running a custom ROM and customer tweaked kernel.
So this is how I see it playing out;
- Pixel 4 XL wins in the camera department, and of course first for updates direct from Google. And the little things like wireless charging and official IP68 rating.
- OnePlus 7 Pro wins other areas; smoother faster OS experience. Maybe better display screen. Faster charging. More customization baked in.

Good point. At the very least, night as well wait until the 4 comes out. Will force down prices of the 7, and the 8 will hopefully be released soon after
Which starts another argument- why would someone ever buy a phone with an old outdated processor when a new one was coming out a few months later

You buy a phone when you need it, simple as that. Something new is always around the corner, but if you wait for that you will be waiting forever.

worth coming from pixel 3 xl?

Im planing to get op7 pro instead of my pixel 3 xl.
It's very important to me selfie camera quality photos and main cameras too, battery life!!! This is the main reason for me-battery life suck in pixel 3 xl! Is it worth to buy it or wait for Pixel 4?
If camera quality is important, wait for the Pixel 4. For literally everything else, OnePlus is superior - in my opinion at least.
Although oneplus camera got very good, I think it's still not on the Pixel level. So if you need the Pixel camera, wait for Pixel 4.
For everything else, OnePlus does it.

I did just that. Even though I'm happy, i would wait for Pixel 4.
Wait for the 4. Sounds like the camera is your main need. For me, everything else is better. Camera is good, just not pixel good.
Imho my op7 pro and pixel 3 take almost identical photos
Coming from the Pixel 3 XL, I was a little disappointed with the camera at first, but the rapid pace of camera updates has greatly improved the cameras. I was just growing so bored of the 3 XL. The OnePlus just has so much more to offer without rooting. For me, the main to get the Pixel was actually the quick updates and the deep Google integration, but after 3 years of using their phones they just got too boring and lagged behind in terms of hardware tech. Plus the premium price of the 3 XL was simply not worth it. I regret getting that phone.
Coming from 3XL and I only miss a little bit the camera. But OP7P camera is just fine, SD 855 is superb and the display without any kind of notch and 90 Hz refresh rate are awesome. Even with all of this going to full up throttle I'm getting 7 and a half hours of SOT. Even warp charge is a deal changer...

How is the selfie camera against the pixel quality?

I don't think it is bad personally. I don't take that many selfies to begin with either, but I don't have any complaints. I think most of the times quality is subjective too when it comes to cameras on smart phones these days. Since I got the phone, camera quality has definitely improved and from I am reading on the OnePlus community and other news sites, camera quality is something OnePlus is really working on.
If you want best camera, then wait for Pixel 4 with big bezel, forehead hump, expensive, etc. If you want everything else, then get the 7Pro! ftw
I'm a big Nexus / Pixel user but I have to say the last few Google phones have been pretty crappy and battery life for me.
Nexus 6P blew for battery life
Pixel 2 XL had better life but nothing amazing
Pixel 3 XL almost seems a little worse than the 2 XL for battery life. Right now this 3XL is mediocre for battery.
And I have to say this Pixel 3 XL performance-wise is okay but it's not as smooth as I would expect from a stock pure Android phone
My 3xl.would get 5 hours SOT on a good day
My 7pro gets 6-7 hours on a BAD day
3xl LAGS like hell
If you're as sensitive as I am the 3xl will bug the living hell out of you.
Those micro stutters and lags destroy the entire user experience

Same had 2 3xl's and got rid of both of them. Not a great experience with either other than photo quality. Day to day they sucked as devices.
I have both and I like everything about the 7 except the issue with auto brightness.
Cameras are great but not like the xl 3
The OnePlus 7 pro is a great phone and is better than the 3 XL. But the 3 XL isn't a bad phone
I've had the Nexus 6p and the pixel 2 XL. There are little things I miss about stock Android, but this phone is awesome. I find myself fighting the battery optimizations, but I have to assume that there is more battery optimization and or RAM Issues on the pixel 3xl. . my friend may have a faulty unit but he claims that he hasn't been getting great service and he said performance issues. That said even I am doing everything I can to hold off on the 4XL. There are still things I'm trying to understand and work around with this phone but I know it's already got twice The ram as the pixel they are going to push out.
Camera keeps getting better on this thing. Noticeable differences with updates. The selfie cam is actually pretty good and not having that hideous notch would be worth it to me

I have to agree with others here, the ONLY thing the Pixel has over the 7 Pro is the camera quality. And that doesn't mean the 7 Pro is bad, it's stunning if you ask me! But Pixel beats it there. LITERALLY everything else about the 7 Pro blows the Pixel out of the water. Question is, how much do you use your camera? Deal breaker right there!
I can't believe people suggest waiting for pixel 4. Did you see all the gimmicky "features" Google is pushing? Pixels are overpriced and ugly. After so many misses, are they going to make the perfect phone? Don't waste your time with it. I was going between Google and OnePlus last 5 years and 7 pro is the best phone I had since Nexus 6, and it will only take better iteration of 7 pro to make me switch. If you are photographer, buy professional camera. For anything else, OnePlus cameras are great. I love zoom, macro, wide, so much fun getting great shots.

Yes. I came from a 3xl and the only thing that doesn't crush it is the camera. the specs (256gb, 12gb ram, 90hz display, sd855), the price (which wasn't even a consideration, paid full retail for my 126gb 3xl and my Ph-1) makes it a no-brainer. I considered the Pixel 4, but I'm sick of the hardware designs always being 2+ years behind. The notch on the 3xl was absurd and I did not use the wide angle selfie camera a single time except the day I got the phone to test it. I much prefer the no-notch clean look of the 7 pro. The only downside is if the Pixel camera is a 10, the 7 pro is a 7-8ish (portrait mode is lacking pretty bad in comparison especially).

Coming from a pixel 2xl, which OP should I buy?

So I see and read all the videos how disappointing the Pixel 4 series is. I'm thinking of getting a One Plus. I see that there are different varieties of the 7 series . On your suggestion please keep in mind thdt I do like My pixel 2xl size. For a big phone it's comfortable to hold and now too tall. I see that the 7 pro is very tall.
So I'm open to hear what you owners think. Also to stay with Verizon , is the One Plus website the only deal ? Lastly would you know what Google features I'd miss or not get
Thanks!

Hey man, I also used Pixel 2 XL since it was released. I was disappointed in leaks of 4 XL so I picked up 7 pro about 2 months ago. Size they are fairly similar in size, weight you definitely feel the weight difference with 7 pro bring heavier. Dimensions they are fairly close if you check. I definitely missed all the Google pixel features but a lot of roms have same experience plus more such as omnirom tresk mod. For the display alone is worth moving from Pixel 2 XL to 7 pro I think. Good luck man.
I've had pixels before, then I tried the OnePlus 7 Pro and have never looked back...
You will miss the Pixel quality camera. Works on Verizon really well. Best Android skin ever. Screen is great, speakers good. I have a 2XL and the 7pro. Android user for a long time. First time I can say in 15 yrs I have been looking at an iPhone. Google can't seem to get out of their own way. Pixel 4/4xl is just the latest example. Good luck.

Great info thanks!
1- What about buying?
2-I want to stay with my current line would I better off buying direct from One plus? They have the finance offer.
3- How is their launcher? customization ? At least equal to the Pixel Launcher or close to Nova?
4- What features did you miss from the Pixel?
Thanks
I came from the Pixel 2XL om Verizon network. I've had mine just a few days
1 - Bought mine direct from OnePlus. Guarantee it would work on Verizon network that way. Just make that phone call to switch to CDMA Less.
2 - I pay cash for all my phones. I did see financing on OnePlus site though.
3 - I used Nova Launcher on day one that I bought the Pixel 2, I also used it on the Nexus 6P before that. I'm currently using the Stock launcher on the Oneplus. I can honestly say that the Oneplus launcher feature rich and that I don't miss Nova at all. Probably the only reason I ever really used Nova is because of the stupid Google search bar on the Pixel 2 and 6P. You don't have that problem on Oneplus, You can remove it I would say its closer to Nova to answer your question.
4 - I think the only thing I'll miss is the free original quality uploads to Goggle Photos. The pixel 4 does have the original picture quality upload and no finger print sensor so those 2 things were the deal breaker for me for the price point they are asking for the Pixel 4XL with only 6 GB / 128 GB
I bought the 12 GB / 256 GB version. Gotta love those specs more that anything over the pixel series.
Hope this helps in your decision. Feel free to ask anything else.
Hey Jeff , nice write-up!
I thought that one of the beefs is that the p4 does not upload original photo quality for free.
How would I know if I should get the 7 or 7t?
Plus is it true that it comes with a screen protector out if the box.?
Thanks

1. i have the 7 / 7T & the 7T Pro, if you're into heavy gaming i'd suggest you pick up the the 7T Pro, if not, the 7 Pro performs really well on the 12GB ram version.
2. Yes, all of the OnePlus 7 devices come with a pre-installed screen protector & a silicon case inside.
If you have more questions, feel free to shoot them my way
Jeff,
What about warranty advice?
Also, do you think my pixel sim would work or do I ned to contact Verizon for a new sim?
Plus, the One Plus website doesn't offer the 12GB ram version yet, only Amazon. . I think I may go for the 8. I can't justify the price and as is I''m going from 4 to 8.
Thanks
I must say... If you rely on a good cam, the OP should be not your choice. Unfortunately.
But if not, everything speaks OP7pro. The screen is amazing, performance great. 90hz ftw!
And i don't think the 7t pro is necessary. Unless you game a lot.

Did anyone see my last couple questions-
Warranty advice
Can I take my pixel sim and plug it into the OP?
On buying I think I'd go with the 8GB. May this time around to enjoy a little money saving. I'm kind of tired buying super expensive phones. Plus I'd be going from 4 to 8GB.

What advice do you need regarding warranty ?
Yes you can use your sim on it
Since you're going for the 8GB ram one, If the difference between it and the 7T Pro is not sky high, take the 7T Pro.

I decided to swap my Pixel 2 xl on Oneplus 7 Pro 5g and it was serious mistake. Advantages of Oneplus 7 pro in compare to old one Pixel 2 xl are;
- ultra wide angle
- phone is a little more responsive but it's not really something which makes noticeable difference for me. I know that most nerds cannot prevent erection while talking about oneplus 7 performance but I don't share their experience at all
- fast charging is huge improvement especially in compare to Pixel 2XL
However the Pixel 2 XL also has a lot advantages in compare to Oppo Oneplus 7 Pro;
- Absolutely everything else is much much better in Pixel 2 XL. I even prefer Pixel screen because of curved display is probably the worst 'improvement' in smartphones history.
Pixel 2x is much better overall device in my opinion than Oppo op7p. I was able to find out three Oppo advantages over Pixel however if compare to g8s and probably any other flagship it's worth nothing. As example I will compare with LG G8s;
- ultra wide angel in LG is wider and overall camera experience are better mainly while recording
- G8s is still very responsive and in daily tasks the same lightning fast like OP7P
- Faster charging in Oppo is worth absolutely nothing because of limited compatibility with my chargers and it will never replace wireless charging
OnePlus is not water resistant. It's not a problem for me at all in normal circumstances but this phone has quite large gaps not only between frame and back which collect a lot of dirt. It's look terrible and I have never seen that in any other flagship. Overall Oneplus is good phone but it's not flagship. This phone is rather very good mid ranger with flagship soc because everything expect soc, ram and storage is in oneplus far worse than in any flagship phone on market. I regret that I bought this phone. Swapping Pixel 2 xl on Oneplus 7 pro was huge downgrade for me.

First of all, it's his own opinion, it should not affect what you decide on buying or not.
To simply put it out for you, if you want an AMAZING camera, don't buy the oneplus, if you want a good camera, then go for it. That's for the camera only.
As far as the reply from the guy/girl above, i have really no idea why the negative bash over the OnePlus, i've been a OPO user since their 1st device, and tbh i've never..EVER.. considered any of thir devices a Flagship or a Flagship killer like they say.
The OnePlus 7 Pro and the 7T and the 7T Pro, i have all three, and all three are performing AMAZINGLY for me in all situations, except for the camera, when it comes to taking pics i user another device, but that does NOT mean the OnePlus camera is bad, no, you just cant expect it to perform like the Pixel phones, that is all.
You want the OnePlus to perform super good camera wise? Get the GCam port APK and unleash the camera powers with that
Again, like i said, go for the 7T Pro, since you're aiming for the 8GB Ram 7 Pro, if the price difference is not huge

1 - I do not have a warranty on mine. You have 30 days after purchase to signup for whatever it is Oneplus is selling. I probably won't get insurance at all.
2 - I just switched my sim from the Pixel 2 to the Oneplus 7 Pro and called Verizon's 800 number and talked to tech support and they did the switch my device to CDMA less over the phone. Took just a few minutes.
3 - I though about going for the 8 myself over the 12. I used my sons student beans discount so I got mine for just a little over $700. If I did have the discount I would have gotten the 8 for sure. Plus buying from Oneplus you can avoid paying tax. That is it or miss on Amazon these days. Far as 7 pro 12 Gig Ram, I see its no longer available on Oneplus web site. They must be out of them.
To answer a few questions from your other posts:
1 - I know can always pay to have your photos upload to original quality to goggle photo/cloud service. But free is free. And it was free on the Pixel 2, lol.
2 - Yes the screen protector comes pre-installed. They also give you a nice clear silicon case as well.
3 - I would of considered the 7T if it came with 256 memory or a Micro SD slot.
4 - Far as that negative review. I would take that with a grain of salt. You show me a new flagship phone and I will show you a negative review, lol.
IMHO, I feel that OP7 Pro is superior to the Pixel 2XL in every way. Even the Camera with its 3 lenses. You won't be disappointed.
To Inpain and JeffBea, Thanks!!!
Now I'm a bit on the fence for the 7T pro or the 7pro.
I'm not a gamer
I want a good camera, but it;'s not a deql breaker.
I'm a performance guy but I'll probably go for the 8 Gig on either model. Can't see spending the extra $200 plus unless you have a serious case to persuade me
Thanks Again,
Rich
