[Q] Engadget distro?

Does anyone use the engadget distro app? It plays in a small window on my device - so wasn't sure if there was some setting to get it to be full screen.

I have the same problem. the library is in full screen but once I open up a issue, it scales to a small window.

I think it just means the resolution is not fully supported

[HOW TO] DPI Mod for better Performance

After Testing i´ll like to show you how to get some extra Performance and a little bit Battery Life from your LUX !
What is this?
We Limit Screen Resolution from 1080x1920 and 480 DPI to 720x1280 and 320dpi!
ANTUTU gave me 44k
What you need to know first:
This MOD is Save and Easy!
No need to Unlock Bootloader!
No need to Root!
No Custom Recovery Needet!
Works with every Moto X Play right out of the Box!
Maybe some apps won't work normally (I can not test every single App).... but like i said...its easy to revert Back!
What you need to do this:
A Computer!
Motorola Drivers: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481
ADB Installed: https://userscloud.com/21c02xsuiokm
If you have ADB up and running go to Developer Options and Enable USB Debugging and Connect the Phone...if its you first time you Use ADB you have to Enable Debugging from this Computer on the Phone...you will see a PopUp On the Screen!
In ADB Type the Following Comants to Enable the MOD:
adb shell wm size 720x1280
adb shell wm density 320
adb reboot
Now you Phone will reboot and will be back with new screen resolution!
If you like to revert Back Type Following commants:
adb shell wm size reset
adb shell wm density reset
adb reboot
Phone will be Back to normal
Some Tips:
Go to Settings/Display and set Text Size to Small if you want...
Use Nova Launcher to Controll Size of Icons and Text on Homescreen

Nice to know. After change what happen with your screen ? I need change launcher or not ? Also if i using xposed change to smallest resolution will not destroy nothing ? What about installed apps ?

No you dont need to change Launcher! Only APP i have a little Problem is EBay... I have a overlay in "My EBay" but when i open My Reviews and go back the overlays are gone....i can live with that!
I don´t use Xposed but like i sayed its save so test it and let us know ...but there should be no problem!
I think Xposed does the same like this Mod but i´m not shure...i think it changes the Screen Destiny...so if you do this ADB mod it should overwrite the Xposed Setting...should be save for you...
With this you Change Screen Resolution AND Destiny

Well i must think about this change. Two more question your screen after change still is full on phone or not ? This also minimalize temperature ?

Screen will be full only but in recent apps screen you'll get to see those big fonts. I don't how to change that. Maybe you can or maybe you can't. But it didn't affect anything. Screen is proper and working for the basic apps that come with the phone like camera, dialer etc. I've tested games like Nova 3, beach buggy, temple run.. They run noticeably better with 320 density. Try it. If you don't like it you can change back without any hassle.

Screen is still Full...its like changing resolution on your Computer Screen

Means Unlock Bootloader
Means loosing Warranty...
This can be applied on pure Stock without losing anything

And brick most of the images in every app that is reading the DPi from the build.prop and display it for 480DPi

No hurt to try. You can use the steps in the first post but you need to change the build.prop with the exact same DPi too, to void most of the wrong image previews.

Is this real 4k now that we have marshmellow? I remember somebody saying it wasn't true 4k just by changing the density.
Also how is the 4k support with apps? Vr? And moonlight game streaming in 4k? kinda been waiting for this ever since the 4k display was announced but I can't test it until later this week.
Also I'd suggest hiding away that status and navigation bar and using an app called "simple control" .. Thers a simple command on adb to hide them. it really helps free your screen lol

tried it, having serious problems with swiftkey! It seems to be super-zoomed, only 3 buttons visible. Tried deleting it's cache.

You will have issues changing the DPI and the WM size... also the resolution is locked in the kernel, what you're doing is emulating 4K resolution....
Battery life will suffer and the device will get warm under normal load.... stick with 1080p and 320dpi , much better in my opinion

Tried 320dpi right now, swiftkey still makes probs...

Interesting observation about this with DPI of 640 - the stock launcher now allows you to enable auto-rotate in the options menu. It doesn't allow you when running stock DPI or stock resolution. This leads me to assume this is the same launcher software as is running on the Xperia tablets too.

I go for 280dpi myself. May I ask why you go with 320dpi?

I go for 320 dpi because I get extra space for icons 7 vs 5 vertically and I get much bigger visual space ( chrome / whatsapp ) etc.
Anything below that gives me trouble. And if you want to change your dpi you better do it in 120 steps or 180 steps ( 0 - 160- 320 -480 etc.. ) as apps seem to offer the best compatibility ( Android rule )

Ah ok, thanks, but 280 hasn't given me any compatibility problems with any apps (so far).

I agree with the 1080 and 320dpi. Device runs much smoother and doesn't get anywhere near as hot but still gives me the screen real-estate I was after.

So what then is the default DPI? As I have not altered anything and now certain Xposed modules do not work on MM, so I am left with a dodgy layout that does not give me a great deal of space and I prefer the stock launcher.

How about unlocking the bootloader and changing DPI on build.prop. Does it fix all the glitches? 320 seems to be small. I prefer 400

What about battery life? How much SOT? And smoothness?

I've been using 380 DPI @ 1080, no issues with anything that I notice.
Changed to 4K, had problems with clock showing in bar at top of screen with
wm 800
and
wm 640

I also noticed that.
But they seems to be an anti-aliased version of a full HD resolution.
I took a detail of a Chrome website screenshot in 4K and downscaled it to 1080 and here's the result:

Hi, i have a Problem with this APP. Every time i Start it the APP ASK me if i want to take localisation info to the picture. Every time. And the storage localisation always change to infernal. Anybody here could help me with this problems?

+1 for default location getting changed to internal. when select sdcard1 as preferred location then its fine..after some time changes again.

I found a little error. When i try to film slow mo in 720 p it doesnt work. it records but it doesnt get any sound and it just has a black screen, When i watch the recording the length of the video isnt even 1 second. when i film in 480 p it works perfectly. logs are down below (they might be a little bit messy but maybe you can find something in them)

Same thing happened to me also. The phone reboots instantly. But 480p works perfectly.

[GUIDE]enable 960Fps slow motion like 7t pro!

Hi guys! In this quick mod guide i will show you how to enable 960fps slow motion on regular oneplus 7 pro.
You need to be root and running preferences manager app. And oneplus camera version 3.10.17
Here is what you need to do:
Open preferences manager app and search for camera 0 and 5 xmls.
On each xml you hit the plus button and add a new string set called Video960FpsSizes.
On the value you write 1280x720
Save both xmls and you are done! Now a third 960 fps option will appear on slow motion mode
Shoutout to @docnok63 for his initial research and ideas.
If anyone adds it to a magisk mode or patch, dont forget about us on a small mention just out of cortesy :good:

Hello, and thank you for the tutorial, the 960 fps Slow motion option is available and functional too.however, it runs for just a couple of seconds and it stops by its own ( the recorded video is 10 seconds duration) ..is that normal?

and
Activated Macro mode in CameraInfo_3.xml "IsUWMacroSupported" from "false" to "true" , both work perfectly

Where do you get the latest Camera from? I'm stuck on 3.8.114.

Yes it stops by itself, you only record around 1 seconds real time which is around 10 sec in 960Fps. Not sure if that is possible to change.
I'm playing with the settings, if i find something useful i'll let you know.

Why not use the preferences manager app? Most easy way to do it.

Am i the only one? When i updated the camera app to 3.10.19 my recent apps changed....

Anyone managed to get this to work on a custom ROM? For me on RR It's just a black screen and freezes all the cameras until I restart it.

Download extract and replace those files with the files on /data/data/com.oneplus.camera/shared_prefs
Goto app info and force close camera and open it.
You get macro, 80x zoom and 920fps.

Your oneplus launcher was updated..that is why your recents changed.
