So the title pretty much sums it up. Running an S8+ unfortunately on bootloader 4 and I can't seem to find a working root option. Am I just SOL for now?

Any updates on how to Root S8+ Canadian variant sm-g955w with BRG4 firmware update from August?
I'm on the U variant so I'm not sure this will work for you. Your on snapdragon so it might, you have 2 options:
ROM w/Root & Exposed:
With this you'll be on nougat but it gives you root, but your battery will only charge to 80%, Same as the Partycyborg Rom.
ROM w/SafeStrap & Exposed
With this you'll be on Oreo but you won't have root in the ROM to run root apps, it's basically a stock rom. You will have access to system files though through TWRP to do whatever you want. To access the TWRP though you must use Odin to boot it into SafeStrap and then flash back the regular Bootloader once your done to boot back up
So each has a slight disadvantage...
Both of these are in the Verizon thread by developer @jrkruse and work up to Bootloader 5. Partycyborg is what most people used but only supports up to BLv3.

Hi all,
I am completely new to this, but I followed all the instructions while trying to install a custom ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S5 900F
- I installed Samsung's drivers for S5 in Windows 8
- I installed Odin 3.09
- I loaded G900F-LP-XXU1BOC7-BOOTLOADER.tar.md5 and G900F-LP-XXU1BOC7-MODEM.tar.md5 (BL and CP)
- I (thought) I rooted the device by using CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.tar.md5 through odin (AP)
- I tried installing the ROM Zephyr Lite from my SD card, that didn't work because my phone wasn't rooted I think
After that, I tried a different method for rooting so I used Odin to load g900h-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.7.tar
When I took a break, my friend booted up the phone and did a "factory recovery" thing from the settings menu and now it is stuck here (picture) and doesn't do anything else.

Update: problem solved
Through all the great posts in the forum I was able to solve the problem myself. I got a new flashable recovery on there (I think) and rooted it, got the really cool XtreStoLite ROM on there and am now delighted to be running things super fast and smooth on the Galaxy S5 F900.
Thank you XDA community I shall be returning here to learn more!
So I was just doing some ROM testing with this old Samsung Tab A (US Variant, Smoky Titanium) and discovered something wild. I don't know if the US variant received the Marshmallow update but here it is anyway, I got a successful flash out of it without a factory reset.

You can flash that with Odin 3.09 to get yourself to Marshmallow on this tablet. Change the system language back to Enlgish (US) and you have Marshmallow. (6.0.1) I am going to look into some root methods and attempt to put ViperMod on here at least. (Dolby Atmos edition)
I did some further testing and noticed better battery life and game performance. I will give KingRoot a shot to see if this version of Marshmallow is rootable. There isn't aworking TWRP for the Marshmallow build, but in Lollipop I disabled KNOX (KNOX WARRANTY VOID 0X1 (4). So I'm not sure if Ashryx' ROM had made the difference in allowing me to flash Marshmallow, but here's living proof:

Would I brick my device if I flashed this on the S-Pen model (SM-P550)?

This post said the Their method is applicable to all of the Samsung machine locks BL.
It is said that ,the G935A,G935T,G935P,G935V cross bootloader flash Chinese Version ,and support ALL band ,all carrier, all
country..
And I get a S7 EDGE G935V, It unlock and flashed,I figure there will be the following
I think there are three possible ways to achieve this effect.
1.、use odin flash the eng kernel, and root. then use Z3X or other box to change the Bootloader Recognized identifier
2、Making a special data line, to achieve strong brush the other version of the firmware. (The other phone use this way..)
3、Modify other editions Samsung firmware identifier,To achieve the bypass bootloader to flash the other version.
There are many experts in the forum, I'm sure you'll find interesting
I hope you can share after a successful
Ignore my bad English...
I will update the picture after 3 hours..

You are flasshing an older firmware. Install samfirm then you can download the latest
The problem is that you are trying to downgrade from a version "3" bootloader (3DPA5) to one that is version "2" (2ERH3). Odin (and Samsung) won't allow this. Once you have upgraded your bootloader, you can't roll back.
There are ways to get around this limitation using TWRP and a custom ROM for the downgrade, followed by Odin, but it is complex. You should simply select appropriate firmware with the correct bootloader.

Thanks for help working 100% with build 02/2019
I've got the android 10 beta update, but i need to downgrade back to 9, because an app, which i use for work isn't working under the new system. I've downloaded, the oficial android 9 build from oneplus's site, and was about to use the local upgrade function, but it shows this message.

Thanks!

the fastest way back with data loss is to msm the phone back to 9.
Go in the oneplus community beta thread and you will find the correct rom to downgrade.
you can but i twill wiped all of ur data. go to the oxygenos android q beta's thread on oneplus community. there's an instruction there.
It is basically a downgrade package which is installed using local upgrade.
Doesnt Format everything on TWRP and then the PIE works?
Whats the difficulty?
